From Low Resolution Recording to High Resolution SVCD or DVD

I am wondering, if I record from a VHS tape at the lowest resolution onto my hard drive, then use WinProducer/Wincoder 2.0 (bundled together now) to convert it to a higher DVD quality resolution and burn it to a CD, will the quality be at least near what it would have been had I have recorded it as a high resolution file to begin with?
I thank any responses in advance.

The point of recording in low resolution is that it takes less data than high resolution. So if you save something in low resolution you have lost the extra data that was needed to describe the images in more detail.
By way of analogy, if I describe the plot of a film I have just seen (low resolution) you cannot use that description to retrieve the detail of each scene (high resolution).
So, unfortunately you cannot get a higher resolution than that in which you originally recorded it.
Sorry

  • MBP 15" GLOSSY HIGH RESOLUTION VERSUS MATT HIGH RESOLUTION

All: Buying a 15" MBP. Typical needs:email/Web/Pages etc but I am a painter and will be viewing a lot of art work: paintings/prints etc. Video/film is not as important than what is mentioned.
Also I will not be doing any graphic work.
Because I am in a wheelchair and I can not get to an Apple Store/ thus buying online.
Whats your opinion of the Glossy High Resolution vs the Matt high resolution for my needs..... much thanks for your help

    Welcome to the forums!
Besides replies you will get here consider searching within the forums as this question comes up often it seems.
When I got my current MB Pro 15" I was skeptical about the matt screen, but when I got to the store and compared the Hi-res glossy next to the Hi-res matt I found that there really wasn't a difference in color, sharpness or overall clarity between the two. I must disclose however that I do have some vision issues. But as for color accuracy and brightness there was no difference, so to me it came down to choosing matt as it provided the additional advantage of glare reduction.
FWIW I think the standard configuration MBP glass (glossy) screen units look nicer than my matt screen model. Plus I suspect they are easier to keep clean being one flat glass surface. But for function I'm happy with the matt.

  • Moving transport from Lower ERP Version to Higher ERP Version?

    Hi All,
I got a quick question regrads to Transporting object frpm ERP 6.0 SP 13 and ERP Ehp 4.0 SP 3.
Currently, We went Go-live with ERP 6.0 with SP13, as part of Release 1 Landsape.
    ECD ---> ECQ --> ECP
For release 2, which is starting in few months, we are planning to Build a Project Landscape seprate from Support landsacpe.
    ECD --> ECQ
       |                  -
    >     ECP
    E2D --> E2Q
    2 = Release 2 SID name
Our Support landscape will be on ERP 6.0 with SP 13
and Project landscape we wanted upgrade to ERP 6.0 ehp 4.0 with SP 03. To keep the landscape consistent, whatever work we do on ECD (R1 lanscape), we would like to import to R2 E2D as well, so when we Go-Live with R2 implementation, then our DEV and QA systems will be consitent.
My Question would, can I move/transport object from R1 (lower ERP version) to R2 (higher ERP version)?
My answer is BIG-NO, since version and objects are differenent, all transport will fail.
I want to hear what you Experts say about this?
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi,
As per your query it can be moved but you will face some issue in this, there are two type of trandport 1. workbench 2. customizing. If you want to move customizing then your abaper will check this will be transport, but workbench will have some issue due to variotion of verion. But you transport this in your new dev server and do the configuration again in new dev serve then test in your qac. The job is very tipical but its posible.

  • 17inch widescreen display VS 17inch high resolution display

Whats the major difference between the 17 inch matte widescreen display and the 17 inch matte high resolution display?

The standard 17 inch display is of a resolution of 1680x1050 and uses a fluorescent backlight. The high resolution display has a resolution of 1920x1200 and uses LEDs for the backlight. From a practical perspective, the high resolution display holds more on it (granted, it is all a little smaller), is slightly crisper, and has the LEDs, which will make the display a bit less power hungry, giving you better battery life.
Personally, I love having the 15 inch LED screen and would go for it on the 17 inch as well.

  • High Resolution Digital File?

When downloading photos from my Canon EOS 7D the quality always takes a big hit! it becomes very pixelated. I am in dire need to save some photos from a photoshoot in a High Resolution Digital File and i cant seem to do it! Please help!!!
    (Photoshop elements & organizer 13)
    TIA!

The file resolution does not change when you import files in Organizer. Although it is possible that the files are large and hence the thumbnail generation is still in progress, which appears as blurred thumbnail. Please try right click > update thumbnail to confirm the same.

  • The Process of going from offline to online  (low resolution to high resolu

As a long time editor on other systems I would like to know what is involved in taking a low resolution sequence and converting it to a high resolution one(ie offline to online quality). Please be detailed in your description of the process so I have a point of comparison to other systems Ive worked on. Please
include any issues/gotchas that may be involved in the process.

I can't because I have never done the offline/online process. Not in the traditional sense. But I heard that the move to 5.1 addressed most of the big issues with the Media Manager. Speed changes are still an issue, as I tried to consolidate a project recently that had them and the only problem spots were the speed changes.
I don't nest nor use subclips.

  • Saving an image to a higher resolution from a lower one

I have photoshop cs6 on my MacBook Pro and downloaded images I'm working on for a friend who needs them for professional use. They're all in 72 dpi so I managed to save them at a higher resolution of 300 dpi, and in Tiff format but when I try to email them the images revert back to 72 dpi. How can I keep the resolution at 300 or higher for email
    Thanks

I know you haven't asked for advice about the actual re-sampling process, but I can't help myself .
If the images are for print reproduction or a similar high quality requirement the results are likely to be very poor even if up-sampled to 300dpi. It's OK to down-sample images if the pixel data is there in the first place. If it's only 72dpi and then up-sampled, and even if it looks good on screen, it'll be rubbish in commercial print.
The exception might be if the actual dimensions of the 72dpi image is large and it is up-sampled to 300dpi but at the same time the dimensions are reduced considerably that should help preserve some quality.
All that said, if you are using Mail, try selecting Actual Size, as shown in the image (if you haven't already). The option only appears when you add an attachment to an email.

  • FaceTime freezes when same room has no problems. The picture is high resolution. There are no freezes when calling my daughter's iPad but the picture is lower resolution. Can I troubleshoot this?

FaceTime freezes when I call my son's iPad. Calling his iPhone in the same room has no problems. The picture is high resolution. There are no freezes when calling my daughter's iPad but the picture is lower resolution. Can I troubleshoot this?

Thanks Mario, but I tried everything there before posting my question. I may not have been clear in my question since I accidently recorded the whole question as the title and tried to edit. In brief: I have no trouble connecting with my daughter's iPad or my son's iPhone. However, his iPad is sending much higher resolution pictures and we disconnect after about a minute.  Oddly, he can hear and see me while my screen first freezes, then goes black and gives me a message of "reconnecting" until it quits trying and shows the buttons to end or redial. The picture quality difference is what is leading me to believe it is bandwidth related. However, I get anywhere from 5 to 10 MB download speeds; usually closer to 10. Last summer, I had 4 granddaughters on their iPads, a grandson on his gaming device and me on cell phone or pc, all using the bandwidth at once with no complaints. If there is a way to lower his outgoing resolution, I think that would help.

Since syncing with iCloud all my photos in my photo app are much lower resolution than they were before. Can anyone explain what happened an how I might get back my high resolution photos?

    Thanks again.
Unfortunately I don't have iPhoto (running Windows).
    I did, however, figure out a work-around.
I created an empty directory on my computer, and told iTunes to "Sync Photos from..." that empty directory. This deleted all the photos from the iPod (go figure).
I then set the "Sync Photos from..." dropdown back to directory that actually contained all my photos, and sync'd again.
And, yes, they all loaded onto the iPod at their better, higher resolution.
Thanks for all your help. Photos (and wallpaper) are perfect, again

  • Low resolution Illustrator file needs to be changed to high resolution?

I created a logo for a client in Illustrator that they were going to use on large format banners.  The file contained one Photoshop image that I  imported into my Illustrator file and changed into a vector object.  I also outlined all type.  The only other items on the logo were colors done in CMYK.  The client now says the overall image was done in 'low resolution' and needs to be in 'high resolution' but I'm confused about what part of the design she would be referring to (as, as far as I know) there are no pixels that would pertain to resolution - (unless the CMYK color builds translate into a problem?).
As she is a new designer for a client (my friend) I'd like to get some feedback before I just ask her what she's talking about and embarrasing her (or me).
    Any thoughts?  Thanks.

I'll note... after reviewing my file, the only other thing I noticed was under Document Setup, the Transparency preset was at 'Medium' instead of 'High' resolution, but here again, I thought this was a non-factor because as far as I know there is no 'transparency' (no jpegs, effects, etc.)... just the vector items that I noted.

  • How to fix lost connections to original high-resolution pictures in iPhoto and how to import an iPhoto Book from one iPhoto library to another

    Hi there,
I am using a MBP Pro with 8 GB cache and 1 TB HDD from beginning of 2011 with OS X Yosemite and iPhoto version 9.6 (910.29).
I created an iPhoto Book to print which contains my best pictures of 2013 and 2014. Then I got an error message when I wanted to print the book, saying (translated from German):
    Book could not be created.
With photo p233432343.jpg there was an error. The original version of that photo with full resolution could not be found or is damaged. Please replace the photo or delete it from your book.
When I enquired further, I found out, that many, many pictures in my iPhoto library have that problem - only the thumbnail picture is found by iPhoto, but not the one with the high resolution. When looking at the photos in detail one sees that they are not sharp because obviously the photo book only refers to the thumbnail. When I went into the iPhoto Library using Finder, I saw that the original high res photos are still there. As there are an estimated 3000 photos with a lost connection (some still have, it but about 1/2 of my photos don´t), it does not make sense to import those photos manually. This photo book is just the tip of the iceberg, so to say.
Then I looked for solutions in some forums. I had two lPhoto libraries, one on my HDD (120GB) and one on an external HDD (175GB). Assuming there might be problems, I have deleted (moved) the one on my HDD, because the "right one" is the one on my external HDD and started iPHoto again using the alt key. But that did not work either.
I then tried to repair my iPhoto library using iPhoto Library Manager, and merged and rebuilt libraries. The library that came out was crap - all folders that had lost connections to the high resolution pictures now have zero photos in it. Also it is lacking the projects, including the photo book I created.
Then I went to find out if there is a way to import the iphoto book project from the old, corrupt library into the new, repaired library but could not find anything. It can only be exported as a file structure or website. As the file structure is missing the high res pictures, that does not even solve the "little" problem of the photobook.
I would REALLY appreciate your help on the two questions:
1- Can you advise what I need to to do to to get the connection to the high resolution photos established again  ? As it is more than 3000 photos, I use an automated way of reestablishing that connection. Probably an answer to this question would make question 2 irrelevant.
2- Do you know if there is a way to export and import a book project created in iPhoto from one library to another ?

1 - Select  the thumbnail of one of the problem photos and use the File ➙ Reveal in Finder ➙ Original menu option.  This will take you to the folder containing the original file with that file selected by the Finder.
You can also use Find Any File to search for that file (get the file name from the Info pane in iPhoto). You will find the thumbnail version and maybe an edited version also.  Made sure what is found is the large, original version and note were it's located.  Search all of your drives with FAF just in case.
If you don't fine the full sized version then the only recourse is to use a file recovery application like   SubrosaSoft FileSalvage on your drives to see if any of your full sized photos can be recovered.   If you find enough files to make the purchase of the software worthwhile buy it and recover the files.  However, since it may have been quite a while since you discovered the missing originals it seems unlikely you'll be able to recover any due to being overwritten.
2 - book projects are just entries in the library databases and can't be exported to another library.

  • How to copy objects from Pages (5.5.1) and paste it into Photoshop as a vector smart object with high resolution?

I recently have bought a new Macbook Pro (Version 10.10.1) with the OS X Yosemite. The computer comes with the new Pages (version 5.5.1).
Here is the problem: I like to create artwork using the shapes on Pages. Previously, on my old mac, I used Pages 4.3 to create objects, which I would copy then paste to Photoshop and it would become a vector smart object. However, in the new Pages (version 5.5.1), when I copy objects, they would appear on Photoshop as instead, a layer and it would not be in full resolution.
Also, I know there is nothing wrong with the Pages file itself because I have converted the document to PDF form and it is high resolution when inserted into Photoshop that way.
Does anyone know how I can copy individual objects from Pages (5.5.1) and paste it into Photoshop as a vector smart object with high resolution as I have done before?
    Thanks!

    ghotiz wrote:

Oh, well if you don't actually need vector objects then it looks like this is possible. As I said earlier, Pages is putting a PNG on the clipboard. I tested it and it does paste into Photoshop as a transparent layer, because I can see the transparent background of the pasted PNG graphic if I either turn off all layers behind it in Photoshop, or if I start a new Photoshop document to paste into but make sure I choose Transparent for the Background Contents in the New Document dialog.

  • Moving high resolution images from PSE6 to Premiere Elements 4

I am trying to take a pdf map (happens to be of the San Diego Zoo) and insert it into a Premiere Elements 4 (PE4) project to show where we went in the Zoo and then show our family pictures/video in that area
So I bring the pdf map file into PSE6 and convert it to a jpeg and/or psd file so I can import it into PE4 (which cannot import a pdf). It works fine, but if I don't increase the image size in PSE6 the image becomes super blurry in PE4 when I change the scale (zoom in).
However, when I do increase the image size in PSE6 and save as either a jpeg or psd so it will be clear at 250% scale in PE4, I get this error message when I try to import it to PE4: "File video dimensions (width/height) too large."
This happens even when I leave the dimensions (8.5 X 8.176 inches) the same and just change the ppi for the higher resolution I need. It starts out as a 300 ppi image and I get the error message even if I only change it to as high as 500 ppi. (And if I go much lower than that, it's not going to help the resolution enough to be worth it in PE4).
(btw, the original pdf file is perfectly clear in PSE6 at 1000+% and the converted jpeg/psd are clear enough in PSE6 at 250%)
    So, my question is:
How do I improve the picture quality in PSE6 so that it's not blurry when I export to PE4 and increase the scale, but maintain the right size that PE4 will accept?
This might be somewhat of a PSE6 question, but hopefully somebody knows the answer and can help me out! Thanks!

    Joseph,
In an NLE, you are really only using the pixel x pixel dimensions. DPI/PPI mean nothing, except a larger file size.
You can set the PPI to 72 and be fine for TV. You might want to bump it up slightly, if you are outputting to a progressive file for display on a computer, but even then, you'll not need much.
PSD will be as clear a format, as you can get. I'd not bother with any JPG compression, as by the time that you lower the compression settings, i.e. compress less, to keep the quality, you will not have compressed all that much.
For zooming in, you do not need for the image to be much larger than the preset for your Project. The FAQ's at the top of the page have some good recs. for the exact sizing. If you will be panning, while zoomed out, you'll want just enough extra to allow for that movement.
Depending on the native resolution of your PDF's image, you should be able to get a reasonably sharp image onto the TV screen. Also, judge the final look of this image on a TV, if that is your final output, as it will appear better, than on the computer screen. I use a DVD RW for this sort of testing and just re-use the discs.
Last, do all of your re-sizing (as much as is possible) in Photoshop. The algorithms are a bit better than in an NLE. Now, for a dynamic zoom, you have no choice but to use Motion>Scale.

Hello guys. I am new to this forumn and this is my first post. I am pretty good with Photoshop. I use Adobe Photoshop CS3. Here is what my question is. I have a rather low megapixel camera (4 mpx) and I am wondering how I can get my photos to appear like they are of a higher resolution like these ones.

Oh and also, how can I reduce skin redness. My camera tends to pick up on the redness of peoples skin and it really makes the pictures look poor.

These kinds of application-specific questions should really be posted in the Photoshop forum, but here goes.
There's really not much you can do for a low res image, but 4 megapixels at the highest quality setting should be more than adequate for the web, and should allow printing at wallet size, or a bit larger, on a desktop printer. Photoshop can upsample, and there's a program called "genuine fractals" that does a good job, but don't expect miracles.
Most professionals would deal with your skintone issues by adding a curves adjustment layer and using the gray eyedropper to set the neutrals. If that doesn't work, you can also use a variety of other techniques like a hue/saturation layer along with selecting the skintone or using a layer mask. This is more complex than time and space allow here, but you'll find a lot of good information in a number of books or online tutorials.
