From old PC ipod to new IPT and Macbook Pro

I have and old ipod whose itunes is on my parents old PC. I recently got a new macbook and ipod touch and now I need to get all of my songs from the old PC ipod to the new ipod touch via the new macbook. How is this possible!?

You have multiple options:
1. Put the Library on portable hard drive
2. Burn the library to DVD(s)
3. Use a big memory stick
4. Set iTunes to not sync, plug in your old iPod and set it for disk mode. Copy the files to your iTunes library.
5. Google Pod to Mac and download the freeware program that will copy your files from your iPod to the Mac.

  • Installed new memory and Macbook Pro wont start.

I bought a total of 8GB from PNY for my mid 2009 MacBook Pro (2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo).  I installed it and my macbook wont turn on.  When I press the power button it just beeps.  The LCD doesnt turn on.   I reinstalled it a few times to make sure that it is sitting correctly with no luck.  I reinstalled my old memory (2x2gb) and it works fine.
The new memory I bought is PNY  8GB (2x 4GB) Bual Channel DDR3 PC3-10666.  The package says that it is compatiable with 1333MHz and 1066MHz.  This is the listed memory on the PNY website for Mac laptops.
Am I using the worng type of memory?  I'm pretty sure my MacBook Pro can take 8GB...right?
    THANKS!

One beep indicates no RAM installed. See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1547.
What happens when you reinstall the old original memory? Does the computer boot then?
You might want to read the information at macsales.com (OWC). Certain models had to be updated to take additional memory.

  • I can't remove iphone app from my update list on my imac and macbook pro. Getting daily requests and reminders to update

My computer daily reminds me to update an Iphone/Ipad app to my macbook pro and to my imac. The app is not installed on these devices and is also deleted from my iphone/ipad. There is no way to update because it says it is not possible with my apple id, and not on these devices. I cannot find the Angry birds app that it wants to update in my programs either. How do remove this from the updates?

You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store alert. For example, the App Store could prompt you to update "Angry Birds" or "Twitter," but the hacked app could be "Final Cut Pro." Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you must carry out a systematic search with Spotlight.
    1. Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    kMDItemAppStoreHasReceipt=1
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    2. In the Finder, press command-F to open a search window, or select
              File ▹ Find
from the menu bar. In the search window, select
              Search: This Mac
from the row of tokens below the toolbar. Below that is a popup menu of search criteria, initially showing Kind. From that menu, select
              Other...
A sheet will drop down. In that sheet, select
              Raw Query
as the criterion, then click OK or press return.
Now there will be a text box to the right of the menu of search criteria. That's where you enter the raw search query. Click in that box and paste the text you copied earlier by pressing command-V.
    3. The search window will now show all the App Store products that are installed. Compare those search results with the list of your purchases from the App Store. To see the complete list, you may need to unhide hidden purchases. If any apps were download from the App Store using other Apple ID accounts that you control, sign in to the store under each of those ID's and check the purchases.
    4. At least one of the apps in the Spotlight search results is not among your purchases in the App Store. Move each such item to the Trash, after quitting it if it's running. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Empty the Trash.
    5. Quit and relaunch the App Store. Test.
If you find these instructions confusing, ask for an alternative method.

  • Live capturing from Panasonic AG-HVX200 using Final Cut and MacBook Pro

Does anyone know if the MacBoko Pro using Final Cut can capture live 1080i video from a Panasonic AG-HVX200 to an external firewire hard drive?

Great info. I'll get on those other forums.
Not that it is an 'issue,' but to answer the question I was INITIALLY thinking of getting a laptop just to capture video, and edit on my desktop. But I see that the advice of getting the biggest baddest laptop would be a better idea and I've read others say that being able to edit 'on the road,' is a great potential.
I checked out the only tested and approved by Panasonic Firestore and it's the FOCUS FS-100 that comes standard with a 100GB hard drive that provides 1.5 hours of DVCPRO HD recording time with a list price of $2,195.00.
(If using PAL, you need the PAL version)
Other than the valuable other forums mentioned here, I found a good site for FAQ's for the Mac/AG-HVX-200/FCP, at: https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pro-av/support/cs/csregistp2m/ep2main/faq/p2faq .htm
These FAQ's, above, say that "going directly into a PC is possible, but it may fail to record some frames per second. This depends on the performance of PC. So we do not recommend this method."
There is a rebate if buying the USA warrentied camera before the end of the year: a free 8GB P2 card (advertised as a $1,200 value)
I think this answers all my questions about this topic. Thanks everyone for the info and the patience.
P.S. - There is a free contest, BTW, to win the biggest badest laptop, the 17"-MacBook Pro, at http://www.pcmag.com (of all places!)

  • Newer Games and Macbook Pro

I am just wondering in the coming months and years, Will games for the PC and Mac be released At the same time or will there be delays with releasing mac versions of games
Just curious b/c that the Macbook Pro is running a Intel based Processor

Here's my 2c on the topic...
I think you will still see the same delay in Windows to Mac based games there is today but this may change. It may change if the Mac becomes a more popular platform and takes over more market share and it may change if game makers change their strategy to releasing new games.
I'd love to see more games come out for the Mac myself but until then I have my Warcrack^H^Hft.

  • Transfer from old touch iPod to new touch iPod

Hubby got me the 8 gig touch iPod last year for Christmas, this year he gave me a 32 gig. His idea was that I use my classic for music, and my touch for games, photos & such, that if he gave me a larger touch, I would only have to carry one.
Not to sure, if I'll keep it, to tell the truth it feels like a lot of $$, to have less over all storage. However if I do keep it, how in the heck to I transfer all those apps I bought for the 8 gig? If I had to buy all over again, the new one will be going back to the store ASAP.
Other than the speakers, is there any other reasons that the 32 gig would be worth upgrading to? To be honest, I use the iPods when I'm traveling, so I don't need external sound.

ie, I DON'T like the autosync feature, and handle all apps, music, photos MANUALLY

MUST be a way to drag and drop these WITHOUT syncing
    there ain't !
since it warns me every time I attempt that I will automatically ERASE everything on my iTouch
to prevent a sync when plugging in the iPod - hold down the option and the command keys ( on a PC that would be the shift and ctrl ) keys when plugging in the ipod - keep pressing the keys until the iPod is listed under the devices list in iTunes.
... but the apps aren't even on my laptop, they're all on my iTouch
    that would be +iPod Touch+
purchased apps can be re-downloaded for free. i would recommend to either sync them back from your Touch to your iTunes library (or re-download them), then connect your son's Touch usinf the above method.

  • Migrating iTunes from removed G4 HD to new Snow Leopard MacBook Pro...

I have set up a MBP with Snow Leopard 10.6.2 installed. I have a removed G4 HD from my Powerbook 1.67GHz former Mac. The SL does not yet have iTunes installed on the new software
Since ALL my former music is on the G4 HD, what is the best way for me to transfer it over so as not to lose that music. Do I set up the iTunes first on the SL site or just transfer it over from the G4(I guess Migration Assistant) ?
Also of note; before I installed the SL on the MBP(it was a used one and had a previous iTunes-also not set up on it), I backed up the entire HD which was Leopard 10.5.7, then erased it before the SL installation. I have that on a Time Machine backup on an external WD HD.
What is the preferred way to do this, in order of sequences ?
Really NEED to get this right the first time so I don't lose all that music...
    Thanks for your help

    Read this article - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1449?viewlocale=en_US
Download iTunes and install - it is only the app - the real stuff is in the iTunes folder. Once you have moved the the iTunes Folder and open iTunes - if it is a newer version - it will take sometime to update the iTunes Lbrary - be patient.
Migration Assistant is a good option if using computer to computer. If not then an ext HD case with FW is best - IMHO.

  • After working correctly before Firefox now says that I don't have the propper permission to have the automatic upgrade process. New iMac and MacBook Pro both afected. Using Snow Leopard

After working correctly since I started using the iMac Firefox now say that I do not have the privileges to have it auto update the Firefox. I don't think I changed anything.
    == This happened ==
    A few times a week
    == Since last update

Well, running on a 2006 model.  I did not have a startup disc.  Initially, it booted up on original software in 2006.  Since then, I've upgraded to 10.6 via a box set.  And, since then I think I popped it up to lion.
All I have on a disc is snow leopard.  And, I can't get farther than the setup screen due to hard drive.  I'm taking to a apple authorized repair store right now.  We'll see what they tell me .  I'm just going to weigh the cost of repair vs. buying new.
Another bad, stupid thing is I had no means of backing up my stuff.  So, I might have lost things like music, vids, etc.  we'll see if they can recover.  If the cost is too much for repair I might just forget it and start over with a new system.  Just not sure at this point.

  • Sync my new ipad and macbook pro

For Christmas I received the IPAD Retina and I am trying to Sync it with my MAC Book Pro.  When I connect the cable a message appears saying that I need to install ITUNES version 10.7.  When I check for updates on my MAC Book it appears there are no software updates available and I am running version 10.6.
    HELP please.
    Thanks,
    G

iTunes 10.7 (from here) requires Mac OS X 10.6.8+ - is that what you are running or is it a lower version ?

  • HT5268 Just purchased Imac and Macbook pro and upgrades to Mountain Lion. Java will not run with one important site where my Grandson is in Kindergarten out of state with in room camera. What to do. This is very disappointing and non of apple geniuses kno

My new IMac and Macbook Pro are each loaded with Mountain Lion. Have Office for Mac also
When I try to see my Grandson on webcam out of state the login will not activate. For PC use I needed Java and Active X to let it run. My Java is checked as ready to go but nothing happens. Otherwise these are great computers. Please help me through the process. The Geniuses at my apple store can't understand what to do.

By default, OS X does NOT come with Java installed nowadays. You need to open the Java Preferences app found in Utilities; when you do that the first time, it will inform you of the fact and offer to install the product for you.
Afterwards, due to a major security issue we had back in the first quarter of the year, the plugin is disabled by default. You need to revisit the Preferences and enable manually. It will auto-disable if unused in awhile.
Lastly, you may have to adjust which Java instance is being used, the 32-bit or the 64-bit. Default is 64-bit, but some applets crash & burn or outright refuse to run in such a platform. You can prioritize which version you prefer by dragging on top in the Preferences.

  • IMac and Macbook Pro WoW gaming

    Hi!
I currently own a macbook, and I need to upgrade if I want to play WoW in a decent quality.
However, I could NOT find any decent information about performance on the new iMac and Macbook Pro machines.
Would it be possible that if any owner that plays WoW could set graphics to Highest possible settings and post their frames per second in Dalaran for example? Mac details and specs would be very appreciated, specially for the graphics card.
Maybe this is not the place for this post, but I hope someone help me out on this. =)
    Thanks!

The server and type of connection are also important. I get pretty bad latency over WiFi, for example, and the Gul Dan server has been really slow of late. I have 20M down / 5M up to the house and 801.11g router. With my 2007 MBP over wireless (good connection), I generally get in the mid 40's to 50's in the Outlands, but got 6 when I logged in last night (by the time I logged out, it had crept up to about 35).
On my 2007 24" iMac (C2D w/ the NVidia option -- last of the white models), I generally get 100-110 at 1900x1200 -- and that's using 100Mbps ethernet to the switch plugged into the ONT.

  • I want to transfer my music from my old computer to my new computer and on to my iphone

I want to transfer my music from my old computer to my new computer and on to my iphone.
I have a Dell laptop which has all my music on it, on Itunes, and synchronised with an Ipod (not an iphone).
I have an Asus laptop which is synchronised with my iphone 4S.
I have my new Dell desktop. I have not copied any music or itunes on to it.
Ultimately, I want to connect my iphone 4s to my new Dell desktop.
I want my new Dell desktop to have all my music on it, on itunes, with the Playlists as per my old Dell laptop.
I want my iphone to have all that music on it.
But I also want my iphone to have the apps and other material that is already on it.
How should I go about all this?

can you explain how to copy from one computer to the other computer?
