From Oracle 8.1.6 to 8.1.7, how to do with designer6.0?
I am using 8.1.6 Enterprise Edition on Windows2000. Now I am upgrating it to 8.1.7.
I simply installed the 8.1.7 on my machine, it detected the exsited 8.1.6 and deinstalled it automaticaly before installing 8.1.7. So, I need to do nothing?
The problem is upgrating the DB. Do I have to upgrading all the exsiting DBs? If not, I got this info: ora-06553, pls-707.
But the designer6.0 repository DB is a 8.0.5 compatible, because designer version is 6.0. Can I just use 8.1.7's migration assistant to let oracle automatically upgrade the DB? What do I need to do?
We have the same problem ?
Is there a solution in the meantime ?
TIA!
Michael

Problem Displaying data from oracle in JTable
Please can any one help me? I have a problem displaying the data fetched from oracle database(ResultSet) in JTables. Can any one provide me with any possible way out(and any alternative).
User,
As suggested in the other post - Google/Books/find a mentor is the best option. -
So I have a chunk of data that only resides in Oracle. So I need to capture that information from Oracle. Now before you get over zealous, I did try with an OPENQUERY and it took FOREVER! And I don't know why the OPENQUERY took FOREVER but if I run the same
query directly against Oracle it runs very quickly...like 20 seconds.
So now I'm wondering...can I build a dataset in my SSRS Report that uses an Oracle Data source and an Oracle Stored Procedure in its Dataset that I'll create to aggregate this subset of data and then utilize its result set back in my main reporting
Dataset that will utilize SQL Server? And how can I do that? Can I make my main Dataset reference, say, a #TemporaryTable that is created from my Oracle Dataset in its
I'll continue to Google a few things as I await your review and hopefully a reply.
Thanks in advance for your help.Hi ITBobbyP,
According to your description you want to use data from a Oracle data source into a DataSet which retrieving data from SQL Server. Right?
In Reporting Services, we can have multiple data sources in one project pointing to different database. And we can use separated dataset to retrieve data from different data source. However, it's not supported to combine the two datasets together
directly. We can only use Lookup(), LookupSet() function to combine fields from different dataset into one tablix when there are common columns between two datasets. This is the only way to make tow result sets together in SSRS.

GetBlob Error During fetching of Images from Oracle 10g
Dear Sir,

I am using oracle 10g.I am using java code to retrieve image from Oracle 10g.
So plz help me by giving full code with explaination.
Thankyou.
Yours Obedient
Dipesh KumarI seriously doubt Oracle would write error messages with such atrocious English.
So it's almost certainly an error from either your own code or code you're calling in some library or part of the application you're not mentioning that noone here except you has knowledge of.
Ergo, we're not going to be able to help you unless you provide a lot more information.
And no, we're not going to write your code for you. -

Favorites icon gone from Oracle SQL Developer Help screen
Favorites icon gone from Oracle SQL Developer 3.0 Help Center screen
How do I get it back?
In Oracle SQL Developer 3.0 I clicked
Help->Table of Contents
to bring ut the Help Center window.
It the Help Center window I used to have a Favorites tab next
to the Contents TAB on the left side of the window.
I did an unpin some how and now I can't get the Favorites
TAB back.
On the right side there is a Star + icon that does
Add to Favorites.
I can add links to favorites but I have no way to go to these
saved favorites anymore.
How do I get the Favorites TAB/Icon back?
ThanksHi John,
SQL Developer depends on JDeveloper code for the Help. After closing the Favorites tab I see no way to re-open it in the UI, so I imagine there may be a bug on the JDev side. Fortunately, there is a manual fix:
In file product-preferences.xml
In directory C:\Documents and Settings\<userid>\Application Data\SQL Developer\system3.0.04.34\o.sqldeveloper.11.1.2.4.34
use Notepad to look for the lines like:
<value n="helpDynamicLinksNavigatorLocation" v="3"/>
<value n="helpFavoritesNavigatorLocation" v="0"/>
Just change the value "0" to "2"Regards,
Gary

How to access environment variables from Oracle Forms
Hi,
Any idea how to use the Environment variables from Oracle Forms.
My basic problem is that from Oracle form I am calling Batch file which calls excel file with a macro.
So i want to check whether the macro was successful or not.
So in my batch file i will set %errorlevel% which I should be able to read from Oracle Forms.
I am able to read the registry from oracle forms, so is there anyway to read environment variable as well?
Thanks!

Error while invoking a WS-Security secured web service from Oracle BPEL..
Hi ,
We are facing some error while invoking a WS-Security secured web service from our BPEL Process on the windows platform(SOA 10.1.3.3.0).
For the BPEL process we are following the same steps as given in an AMIS blog : - [http://technology.amis.nl/blog/1607/how-to-call-a-ws-security-secured-web-service-from-oracle-bpel]
but sttill,after deploying it and passing values in it,we are getting the following error on the console :-
“Header [http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2004/08/addressing:Action] for ultimate recipient is required but not present in the message”
Any pointers in this regard will be highly appreciated.
Thanks,
SaurabhHi James,
Thanks for the quick reply.
We've tried to call that web service from an HTML designed in Visual Studios with the same username and password and its working fine.
But on the BPEL console, we are getting the error as mentioned.
Also if you can tell me how to set the user name and password in the header of the parter link.I could not find how to do it.
Thanks,
Saurabh -
Calling web service from oracle forms 10g
Problem Description:
I'm following the steps as per the doc:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/htdocs/10gr2/howto/webservicefromforms/ws_10_1_3_from_forms.html
to create a java stub to call external web service and then use java importer in oracle forms to call this web service from oracle forms.
WSDL for external web service used is http://gend:83/DesignService.svc?wsdl
The service was developed by us.
Calling the web service using JDeveloper works fine but when I complie in Oracle Forms it returns wrong number of types of arguments in call SENDHELLO.
The code from oracle form to call web service is as below:
DECLARE
jo ora_java.jobject;
xo ora_java.jobject;
rv varchar2(2000);
ex ora_java.jobject;
str varchar2(100);
BEGIN
jo := GendServiceClient.new;
rv := GendServiceClient.sendHello('Nora');
EXCEPTION
WHEN ORA_JAVA.JAVA_ERROR then
message('Unable to call out to Java, ' ||ORA_JAVA.LAST_ERROR);
WHEN ORA_JAVA.EXCEPTION_THROWN then
ex := ORA_JAVA.LAST_EXCEPTION;
message(Exception_.toString(ex));
END;
Any help/ideas on this is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Edited by: KE Nora Loera on Jun 1, 2012 1:24 PMMy primary skill is PL/SQL but the only information I found on Oracle's site to call a web service from a 10g Form was creating a jar file and importing the java class. Since I don't want to ask our corporate IT to make changes on the UNIX box for the jar files I went a different route.
I use UTL_HTTP.BEGIN_REQUEST to call a URL then load I load the data to a table as a CLOB since we have more than 4000 characters. Now I need to parse the XML and load it into a form. I have never done this so if there is a helpful site please let me know. I have looked at several sites but none do what I want.

Calling web service from oracle forms fails with ORA_JAVA.JAVA_ERROR
Problem Description:
I'm following the steps as per the doc:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/htdocs/10gr2/howto/webservicefromforms/ws_10_1_3_from_forms.html
to create a java stub to call external web service and then use java importer in oracle forms to call this web service from oracle forms.
WSDL for external web service used is http://www.webservicex.net/CurrencyConverter.asmx?wsdl
Calling the web service using JDeveloper works fine but from Oracle Forms returns ORA_JAVA.JAVA_ERROR; Unable to call out to Java, Invalid object type for argument 1
The code from oracle form to call web service is as below:
DECLARE
jo ora_java.jobject;
rv ora_java.jobject;
ex ora_java.jobject;
outString varchar2(2000);
BEGIN
jo:= CurrencyConvertorStub.new;
--This will get the exchange rate from US Dollars to UK Sterling.
rv:= CurrencyConvertorStub.ConversionRate(jo,'CAD','USD');
message (float_.floatValue(RV));
EXCEPTION
WHEN ORA_JAVA.JAVA_ERROR then
message('Unable to call out to Java, ' ||ORA_JAVA.LAST_ERROR);
WHEN ORA_JAVA.EXCEPTION_THROWN then
ex := ORA_JAVA.LAST_EXCEPTION;
outString := Exception_.toString(ex);
message(outString);
END;
Any help/ideas on this is greatly appreciated. Thanks.Yes, it is the message line - so basically this call fails => rv:= CurrencyConvertorStub.ConversionRate(jo,'CAD','USD'); and control goes in the exception block
WHEN ORA_JAVA.JAVA_ERROR then
message('Unable to call out to Java, ' ||ORA_JAVA.LAST_ERROR);
Below is the code from java stub that was generated using JDeveloper by using web services stub/skeleton and associating the WSDL
public Double ConversionRate(String FromCurrency, String ToCurrency) throws Exception
URL endpointURL = new URL(endpoint);
Envelope requestEnv = new Envelope();
Body requestBody = new Body();
Vector requestBodyEntries = new Vector();
String wrappingName = "ConversionRate";
String targetNamespace = "http://www.webserviceX.NET/";
Vector requestData = new Vector();
requestData.add(new Object[] {"FromCurrency", FromCurrency});
requestData.add(new Object[] {"ToCurrency", ToCurrency});
requestBodyEntries.addElement(toElement(wrappingName, targetNamespace, requestData));
requestBody.setBodyEntries(requestBodyEntries);
requestEnv.setBody(requestBody);
Message msg = new Message();
msg.setSOAPTransport(m_httpConnection);
msg.send(endpointURL, "http://www.webserviceX.NET/ConversionRate", requestEnv);
Envelope responseEnv = msg.receiveEnvelope();
Body responseBody = responseEnv.getBody();
Vector responseData = responseBody.getBodyEntries();
return (Double)fromElement((Element)responseData.elementAt(0), java.lang.Double.class);
