  • I want to move a pst file from Outlook to Entourage

So far, all I can find out is that I need to have an account on a server running Exchange. I do not have this server so am wondering if there is an 'easy' way to work with Outlook to get my old emails brought across by file.
Thanks for any help that can be put this way.

Much to nobody's surprise, .pst files created by Microsoft Outlook can not be read by Microsoft Entourage.
    You'll need this:

  • Transfer vCards from Outlook 2003 to Entourage 2008

I am trying to move my contacts from Outlook to Entourage. I have read about some of the difficulties using CSV files (mysterious quotation marks, etc.) and thought it would be best to do it using vCards. I emailed all of my contacts to myself and saved them into a file on my Mac desktop. I then tried dragging the files into Entourage with no luck. Can you please help me? There has to be a way, right?!
I hope to keep the formatting the same and not have to do too much manual changing of the contacts once they are moved.

I was of the opinion that Outlook cannot export vCards, but if it does then try using Entourage's Import function from the File menu when you have the Contacts window active.
Most users have found that the only successful method for exporting from Outlook to the Mac is to use Outlook2Mac.

  • Imported ical from outlook and the date across the top of the weekly view all show the date i imported..

imported ical from outlook and the date across the top of the weekly view all show the date i imported..

I'm confused, what does iCal have to do with this, it seems as though you went from Outlook to Entourage, is that correct?

  • Entourage 2008 - Importing from Outlook 2007 ???

Hi guys, just got a MacBook Pro this week and I had reserved a copy of Office 2008 which I got today.
It's great because that's what I was waiting for to put my PC on sale
BUT i was astonished to see that there's not the option to import pst files in Entourage ??
I was using Office 2007 for PC therefore Outlook 2007.
The only way we can export stuff is by creating .PST files, so you can backup all your contacts, your messages with attachements and your calendar (which are my 3 priorities).
Using the equivalent application from Microsoft but for the Mac, that is : Entourage 2008, there's not the option to import .pst ?? What the heck ??
So please guys if you know a way to export my stuff (messages, contacts and calendar) from Outlook 2007 PC to Entourage 2008 MAC, please let me know !!!
    THANK YOU !!

    Hey guys,
I don't want to be repeting by here's the way I worked this out :
    EMAILS
First I installed Thunderbird on my Win computer.
Then I imported from outlook. It took a while since my PST was like 3 Gb.
At first I was crashing it but then I let it work for a try and it imported everything perfectly, but not showing any progress bar during the process.
Second, I searched Thunderbird help for the way to export in MBOX, and it pointed out that I sould get a plug-in, which I did.
Third, having installed the plug-in, I had a tool menu for exporting. Only thing I had to do is select each folder one by one and export them using this plug-in, I only had to add .MBOX extention to every file.
Finally, when you get these files in OS X with entourage, you just drag and drop them in entourage and them import perfectly.
That did the job for me anyways.
    CONTACTS
Send yourself emails of contacts !
I sent myself email (with the WORK OFFLINE option so I wouldn't receive them in outlook) in the contacts from outlook.
As you can imagine, I totally got rid of Outlook, and of Windows actually, by now but as I remember it when you right click on a contact you have an item that's called something like "send full information of contact through email".
So to keep my categories I sent one email per categories.
Back in entourage, I had to save attachements, import them, put them in a category.
Then next email, etc. and so on.
    CALENDAR
I haven't found a way to do this but what I did was : In outlook you have a way to display your calendar events by a list, so I just made a couple of print screen of that list and I put the future events that I wanted to keep in Entourage.
    And the conclusion is :
Well I said byebye to Entourage because I don't need MS Exchange support and I hate Microsoft more and more everyday so I'm using Mail, Address Book and iCal now
But I could easily import from entourage into all of these.
The only microsoft apps I still are the must-have : word, excel and powerpoint 2008.

  • Migrating from Outlook 2007 to Entourage 2008

15 days ago, I bought my first Mac after a 12-year gap. I have been trying to get my information from Outlook 2007 into Entourage 2008 without any luck. I've google'd and found that there are indirect paths only. (via mbox).
My E08 refuses to recognize the mbox files. After renaming my Inbox files as Inbox.mbox, they show up as E08 files (with the E08 icons). But I cannot open them in E08. When I go the File, Import method in E08, all mbox files are grayed out and I cannot select any of them.
I've installed Thunderbird on my Mac and got all the files into Thunderbird from my Win PC. Apple Mail crashes consistently when I try to import from Apple Mail.
Total file size is 5+ GB with 30 folders. Any ideas on what I may be doing wrong.

Here is a long pending update on how I got my OL2007 data into E2008.
    On the PC:
    1. Setup Gmail Imap in OL2007. (I used my Gmail account for this purpose. Go into Gmail and search for "Outlook Imap setup")
ENSURE ENTOURAGE IS NOT RUNNING ON THE MAC.
    2. Drag and drop each sub-folder from the Inbox into the Inbox of the Gmail Imap folder.
    3. Depending on the size of the sub-folder and attachment, it makes take a few minutes to a couple of hours.
    On the Mac:
    4. Setup the Gmail Imap folders in Entourage too. (again refer Gmail help section).
    SHUTDOWN OL2007 ON THE PC
    5. Drag and drop the subfolder you created in step 2 onto your Entourage Inbox. (because this is a "download", it might work faster).
    6. After step 5 is complete, quit Entourage.
    7. Back to your PC, start OL2007.
    8. Drag and drop the sub-folder from Gmail into the OL2007 Inbox. (this step is required if you want to preserve all the data on OL2007).
    9. Repeat for other folders present on your OL2007.
This process is excruciatingly slow and painful, but it did get me all my data, attachments, preserved the links intact and organized it according to categories. For categories, ensure that you create the same categories as your OL2007 on E2008.
    Good luck.

  • Using Entourage - Importing from Outlook XP

I'm not sure where to post this question so I thought I would try here. I would like to import a .pst file (Outlook XP file from my PC) into Entourage 2004. Is there any way to do this?
I noticed that using the import function in Entourage shows an import selection from Outlook Express 5. Perhaps I should export a .pst file from Outlook XP and then import it into Outlook Express 5, then create a new .pst file and import it into Entourage? I'm lost and the Microsoft help site is kind of useless.
If anyone has done this type of import, I appreciate the help.
    Thanks,
    kayjh

    Hi kay,
Quite why MS didn't make it easy to shift email from one of their own products to another one from the beginning is beyond me!
There are a variety of workarounds.
    see
    http://www.riches.com.au/articles/export-outlook-entourage.htm
    http://www.entourage.mvps.org/crossplatform/winmac.html
    http://www.oreillynet.com/cs/user/view/cs_msg/9928
HOWEVER, I see that since I last looked at this issue a new tool has actually arrived from Microsoft itself!
    Have a look HERE!
EDIT Mmm - looks like the MS tool may not do the job after all - seems to be at those those who had been using the early Mac version of Outlook.
    Cheers

  • Export mail from outlook 2002 for Entourage 2004 - how to?

    Hi.
I've tried for some time now to export my mail from outlook 2002 for Entourage.. Can't say it's been easy, and I still haven't figured it out.
Can anyone help me with this..
and .. oh yes.. I'm a newbie at mac.. got it for only about a week or so now..
    please bare with me..

I don't use contacts but I found this document that should help:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302268
However it does specify Outlook 2003 or later is required to sync contacts so that will be an issue for you.

  • Entourage 2008 not importing from Outlook 2011

The import wizard in Entourage 2008 is not functioning properly. I am trying to import all the emails, sub-folders like spam, outbox and a few that I have made manually from Outlook 2011 to Entourage 2008. But the Import hangs up after few seconds of processing and nothing is imported in entourage. Is there any other way of importing the emails from outlook 2011 to entourage 2008?

    Hi,
Please try the steps in the link below(if you haven't):

Since this issue is on Mac, we'd better post this question to the Office for Mac forum:

  • Printing from Outlook 2011 stopped working

I am helping a friend who uses Microsoft Office 2011 on an iMac running 10.7.2. He is suddenly unable to print from Outlook. Choosing Print... from the File menu or clicking a print button produces no result at all - the normal print dialogue box does not appear. Previously he could print without a problem. He has no problem printing from Word in Office 2011.
We have updated Office to 14.1.4 through Microsoft Update. We have worked through the advice in the Microsoft support document 2409305 - backing up Outlook identities, and removing Oulook Preferences as advised there. The error remains. We then created a new identity and found we could print from that. So we followed the Microsoft advice to rebuild the Outlook identity database. We still cannot print from Outlook.
    Advice greatly appreciated!
    Andrew Spackman

    Thanks everyone!
The reason we did not import the mail, contacts, etc from the old identity to the new identity, as suggested by Templeton Peck, is that we were following step by step a Microsoft troubleshooting document, in which creating the new identity was a testing step, which was then followed by different advice on what to do depending on the result. Importing the mail etc was not one of the recommendations.
Now that may well be a good move. But while I have been using Macs and email systems since 1985 I don't have any experience of Outlook. (I do have some experience of Entourage - as previously used by another friend - and there rebuilding the database seemed to be a regular activity.)
As there is no Exchange involved in my friend's use of email, I am inclined to take what would be the easiest route for me (and, I hope, entirely satisfactory for my friend!) which is a move to Apple Mail (and iCal and Address Book of course). That's the setup I currently use. Obviously if Exchange were involved I wouldn't let up on the Outlook problem, but it looks as though that would require professional help.
    Thnaks again!

  • How can I get my email from Outlook on the PC to Mac's Mail on Lion?

I am trying to move years worth of emails from Outlook on a PC to a new MacBook Air. The database of emails is about 5GBs. I can find different settings to export the emails in PC formats, but not a single one listed in the Lion version of Mail. It can import from Mac Mail, Thunderbird and Entourage, but not Outlook. Is there a way to export the files and import them on to the Mac that anyone has had success with?

Follow the link in the post
Also, another way is to transfer via IMAP:
Moving Email from PC Outlook to Apple Mail
"An easy (and free) way to transfer email from Outlook (Windows) to Mail (Mac) is to use an IMAP account (e.g. Gmail) as an intermediary between the two. It's simple and reliable but can be a bit slow for large amounts of email. Expect over an hour per Gigabyte."

Unfortunately - this happens with Outlook generated messages on occasion. Sometimes even Entourage can't cope. I find that the Gmail web interface does a pretty good job of dealing with messages that nearly every other email client fails with.
Equally, there are occasionally problems for Outlook users when they receive messages from Thunderbird users.
I am convinced that the problem lies in Outlook, and that there is little you can do about it.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Perhaps I am wrong.... (hint for someone else to come in with a solution).

  • Can't import from OUTLOOK EXPRESS 5 to Mail

I was trying to import contacts and e-mails from OUTLOOK EXPRESS and somehow all my information seemed to be erased from OUTLOOK.
When I try to open it up it doesn't have all my emails and addresses. It's as if it just got installed. I don't know where to look for this info in my hard drive.
Called APPLE and they told me that it could be that it got corrupted and deleted.
I have years of information in there. Any suggestions?

    Outlook 5 -> Mail
You can't go directly from Outlook 5 to Mail but you can do Outlook 5 -> Entourage -> Mail and that works very well
Your mail in Outlook 5 (I am assuming you're running Outloook Express 5.x under OS 9.2.x) is in the MUD folder. You'll find it in Documents > Microsoft User Data > Identities > Main Identity
If the Main identity is empty do a search for "Main Identity" and see if there are any other folders of the same name
If you can't locate it, restore it from a backup, import it into Entourage and then into Mail

  • How to Move All Emails from MAIL to ENTOURAGE

After 30 years married to Windows I have filed for divorce and am entering a new relationship with Apple via a new Black MacBook. (you may have heard the expression "once you've gone Black you'll never go back"!)
Although many Mac things are elegant the move from Outlook Express and Outlook to MacMAIL was disgustingly painful and amateurish. I now have 25,000 emails mixed up together in MAIL. (They were formerly neatly separated in Outlook Express into various accounts with sub-folders according to my various businesses and projects.) The Apple store that guided me was totally uninformed about the abiity to transfer intact account structures from Outlook Express and Outlook and so I am left with 10 years of filed emails all mixed together ... what a disaster in my first week of the new marriage!!
It appears to me that MAIL is not the serious business email program I need. I have heard that Entourage might be more powerful and flexible, and in fact is similar in functionality to Outlook. My HUGE concern however is the continuation of my pain in moving my emails again.
Can anyone assist me with credible advice on (a.) how to make the move (b.) is Entourage a truly business-strength program (c.) are there any programs to facilitate the transfer, and (d.) how can I get the file organization back again?
I have 6 separate accounts and own all my own domains through which I have my email services (incoming and outgoing mail is controlled by my servers).
This is my first real experience with Apple and it has been painful. While Apple seems truly superior in audio, video, music, graphics and "cool designer widgets" I have found that in a serious business environment in which email is a foundation of our businesses that Apple lags behind. I really hope to be able to embrace the Mac world totally but I am unimpressed about what I have found so far. I would be deeply grateful for any helpful comments.

Have you used Entourage's import feature?
It may not be exact since Entourage does not use the same account and filing structure as Mail but it will be close. There isn't any other way to transfer all Mail.app mailboxes and messages to Entourage that I'm aware of.

  • Importing from Outlook

Hi, I am business owner using PC for years at work. I use a blackberry for e-m and Outlook (last version) for many things...
Is there a reliable and effective method for importing (using Mail or Entourage) my mailboxes and my old e-ms from Outlook?
    Thanks

Use Outlook2Mac. If you are actually using Outlook Express then you can directly import your data using Mail's or Entourage's Import options.
