Front audio connector

Hi there!  I have the 845E Max motherboard, and my case has a front audio coonection in it.  I was jsut wondering  if it is possible to connect the front without disabling the back audio panel.  thx....

You can do it but you will need to do some modifications to the connector so the front cable and the jumper are on there at the same time.
You can simply buy splitters for the outlet plug on the back of the board.

I've got front panel audio connectors on my case, and the motherboard has a connector port for them, but for some reason it doesn't work.  I was wondering what the pin assignments were so I could plug them in manually, as maybe the case has different assignments than the motherboard.  My case is an Xion Solaris XON-403 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811208009)  Any help here would be hot!

Is the case audio connection HD-Audio or AC'97?  You motherboard's connector is HD-Audio and an AC'97 connector will not work with it.  What does the Case manual state?

  • Front USB & audio connector

I just bought a new Aopen case with a front panel for audio and USB. Unfortunately, I don't now in wich order I have to put the plugs on the pins. I have an MS-6340M mainboard and an Aopen H500 case. These are the layouts for my USB and audio pins:
    USB connector  (USB2)
    Pin 1 - VCC
    Pin 2 - GND

    Pin 5 - USBD3+
    Pin 6 - USBD2+
    Pin 7 - GND
    Pin 8 - USBD2-
    Pin 9 - GND
    Pin 10 - VCC
    Aopen cable
    Coffee - USB PWR
    Black - USB PWR
    Orange - USB 0-
    Green - USB 0+
    Red - USB 1-
    Yellow - USB 1+
    Gray - Ground
    Audio connector (JP1)
    Pin 1 - MIC_In
    Pin 2 - MIC_In
    Pin 3 - X
    Pin 4 - +12V
    Pin 5 - GND

    Blue - FPOUT_L
    Black - AUD GND
    Grey - RET_R
    Green - RET_L
Does somebody now in wich order I should connect the plugs? Thanks in advance,
    -WRZ Mazter

In the first place, I would like to thank you for your help with the USB connector: it's working fine right now.
For the audio connector I searched a bit around by myself and foundthis page. It lookes pretty simple now:
    Pin 1 - MIC_In : Red - MIC
    Pin 2 - MIC_In : Black - AUD GND
    Pin 3 - X : Coffee - MIC_BIAS
    Pin 4 - +12V
    Pin 5 - GND : Yellow - FPOUT_R
    Pin 6 - GND : Grey - RET_R
    Pin 7 - GND
    Pin 8 - GND
    Pin 9 - Speaker_R : Blue - FPOUT_L
    Pin 10 - Speaker_L : Green - RET_L
But I accedentily connected the ground cable to pin 4 (VCC) instead of pin 2 (GND). As I turned on my pc again, the whole black ground cable went up in smoke as a result. Fortunately my mainboard isn't damaged, and I am going to buy a new cable for the front audio connector. I'll let you know if it works.
    Thanks again for your help.

P.S. if you think I am making a mistake in my scheme, could you please tell me?

  • What will happen to front audio on computer ca

Hi, When installing a Sound Blaster Audigy Value card the instructions are to disable the motherboard's onboard audio. I currently have front audio from the computer case connected to the motherboard for private listening with headphones. Does it mean that I can no longer use the front audio connectors after installing the sound card?

Sorry but i think your out of luck creative are just about the only soundcard manufacturers who dont have front panel connectors.
Well i suppose they have to sell they're boxes of cheap tricks on the more costly soundcards somehow, if they let you have front panel connectors then no one would buy the higher ranged cards with breakout boxes, not that many do anyway

    Hi Frankenputer,
I'd also like to thank you for such a fast response! I do have a copy of the manual in my grubby little hands and I did read it. That's how  I was able to identify the motherboard pinouts in my first post. I guess that one slipped by you  . The link you provided is great, it'll come in handy if I ever misplace the manual down the road.
My problem stems from the way the case manufacturer labelled the wires for the front audio connector e.g. using a naming convention that differs from that of the Intel Front Panel I/O Connectivity specification.  Specifically the Mic-VCC, Line-L and Line-R wires.
Stated simply, I was hoping one of the experts here might be able to tell me/confirm if Mic-VCC should be connected to pin 3 - AUD_MIC_BIAS or to pin 4 - AUD_VCC, and if Line-R should be connected to pin 6 and Line-L to pin 10 on the motherboard.
Again, thanks for your reply and have a great day!!!

  • [SOLVED] Front audio panel still not working on K9N Neo V3

I already posted on this here: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=113813.0.
I still didn't get front audio panel to work on MSI K9N Neo V3.
Even with my new case; Sharkoon Revenge, it is not working. It wasn't working on my previous noname case too. However, front audio panel on my previous case was working on several other MBs except on this MSI K9N.
Now, I'm using the latest Realtek HD audio driver.  I think it's from February '08. Just as with the driver dowloaded by Vista via Windows Update, anything plugged in front audio panel isn't recognized. In this new version of Realtek driver I can't find this Disable front audio panel option so I can't tell if it is checked or not.
Once more, there is not much to do wrong while connecting. Case front audio panel cabel is the same as on all other cases I've ever seen/had. It's a cable with the same number and position of pins as in all other cases. It fits fine on MSI K9N Neo V3. Rear audio panel is working fine.
    Any solution to this!?

From what I can see from the Sharkoon product page, the front panel connectors of your case are not compliant with the Intel HD Audio Pin Standard.
Do you have a manual for your case that includes Pin/wire definitions for the front audio connectors?
No. There was no manual in package. I never thought I will need one either.
Here is Sharkoon Rebel Pin Assigment; http://img176.imageshack.us/img176/9729/pinslk2.jpg

Have you tried disabling automatic front panel jack detection in the Realtek HD Audio configuration utility?  If you don't know were to find that option, access the tab labeled "Audio I/O" and click on the tool icon.
Yes, I tried disabling it. Two tabs (front audio out and front mic) appeared but none of it works.
Quote from: HenryW on 07-April-08, 03:35:46
From something I read: You can also physically check the audio cable of the front panel audio solution.  If there is a cable connected to Pin 4, you have an HD Audio module; if there is no cable to Pin 4, you have an AC97 module.
I don't really understand this. Could you please check this on Pin Assignment scan I uploaded above!?

  • 975x Front Audio panel troubles

    I've run into something interesting.
I've not been able to get the front audio connectors on my Antec 900 case to work, although I would heard the front channel through the headjack, the microphone would never work.
The Realtek Audio I/O display would never seem to recognize that something was plugged in so, if I go into the Connector Settings dialog and disable front panel jack detection - then it displays that the headphones AND the microphone are always plugged in - even if they're removed.
Anyways, it works (sorta).  I thought that it was a connector problem, but obviously not unless something is wired wrong in the harness from the case.
I'm running the latest official BIOS as well so, well, who knows where the bug is.
    Has anyone else experienced this?
    Thanks
    hf

Do make sure that you have insert the audio connectors correctly on your motherboard. since your mobo is an intel based one, make sure that your front panel audio is compliant with the intel HD azalia specification.

  • MSI P965 Platinum frontal audio connector help needed!

Hi there guys,I recently brought a pc off craigslist and it came with this motherboard as described above.
My problem is with the front panel audio connectors.
The case of the computer is this one shown in this picture.
    http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/641/1304612874870.jpg/
Inside this pc case it has the following connector pins
    1.SPK-R - white wire
    2.SPK-L - red wire
    3.GND - black wire
    4.MIC bias  - white wire
    5.GND - black wire
    6.MIC IN - red wire
This motherboard comes with a JAUD1 and a JFP2.Can anyone tell me where to plug those pins in for my front audio connector to work?
and I do have the manual.I think the problem is that the wires from the case is for AC97 but this pc is equipped with HD audio.
    Thank you all for reading.

    Your board is HD audio.
JPF2 should be for switches and LEDs as I recall, so go into JAUD.
    Maybe this can help:

    http://img.techpowerup.org/100423/HD%20Pin%20out.jpg
Some say that if you disable front panel jack sensing it may work, cause as you see from the diagram mic L/R and speaker L/R are on the same pins.
Some people get it working, and some have lot of noise..probably depends on the design of front panels PCB.
    http://www.nitroware.net/index.php/editorials/67-articles/159-fix-broken-front-audio-ports.html
Probably the best way is to switch to AC'97 compatibility mode in BIOS?
    http://www.ninjalane.com/images/lanpartyut-915p/bios_audio.jpg
Thanks alot cronnin. That was very helpful. My only problem now is that the AC97 plugs from the case has two ground.
Which one do I use and which one do I not plug in?
Also,I read on the internet, that plugging in ac97 plugs to HD audio connectors might blow up the motherboard.s that true?

  • Front audio problem

I purchased a K7N2 Delta NVIDIA nForce 2 FSB 400 Motherboard, and installed it today.  I have everything working except for the front audio port.  The power supply that I have (ATX) has eight cords for the front audio:
    1 R In
    2 R Out
    3 L In
    4 L Out
    5 Mic-In
    6 Mic-In
    7 Gnd
    8 Gnd
However, in the manual describing the JAUD1 Front Audio Connector it lists ten (two of which have no pins):
    1 AUD_MIC
    2 AUD_GND
    3 AUD_MIC_BIAS
    4 AUD_VCC
    5 AUD_FPOUT_R
    6 AUD_RET_R
    7 HP_ON (No Pin)
    8 KEY (No Pin)
    9 AUD_FPOUT_L
    10 AUD_RET_L
    So I have two questions:
    1. To which port of the JAUD1 panel of the motherboard am I supposed to connect the above eight plugs? I tried different combos with no success.
    2. After I figure out which plugs to go into where, do I need to dl the Realtex AC97 drivers, or do I only need to do that if I still have problems.
You guys rock.  Thank you very much for your help.  I look forward to hearing back from you.

Try this (Case connection -> Mobo connection)
    1 R In -> 5 Aud_FPOut_R
    2 R Out -> 6 Aud_Ret_R
    3 L In -> 9 Aud_FPOut_L
    4 L Out -> 10 Aud_Ret_L
    5 Mic In -> 1 Aud_Mic
6 Mic In -> 1 Aud Mic - Try this instead of 5 if mic doesn't work
    7 Gnd -> 2 Aud_Gnd
8 -> 2 Aud_Gnd - Try instead of 7 (or might need to splice them together)
You might need to swap 1&2, and 3&4, depending on what they class as "In" or "Out"
There should currently be a jumper on JAUD1 between pins 5&6 and 9&10
You should get audio out on the rear green socket if there is nothing plugged into the FP socket. (My case doesn't have the switched audio returns from the FP, so I wired it so that the jumpered pins were still connected to each other, as well as to the FP connector.)
Drivers would probably be a good idea.
    Cheers

  • KT6 Delta front audio /mic connectors

Hi Can anyone help. I just bought a new case by i cute. It has eight connectors for the front audio and microphone. Most are straigthtforward, but there are two ground cables - one for the mic and one for the audio.Where do they go as there is only one place on the mobo for a ground connector?

The header only has 1 ground point. The way I have done it on system is to hook up the ground from the speaker connector and not the mic.  But on the cases I have worked on it didn't matter because both grounds were connected  (checked with a multimeter).

  • Front Panel connector for JAUD1 on K9A2 Platinum mobo

I bought some headphones for my computer and they work well when plugged into the line out and mic on the back. It's a pain unplugging my speakers in the back and plugging in the headphones, then switching back when I want my speakers again.
I noticed there is an internal JAUD1 connector which suggests that I can attach a front panel audio device to it. Where can I get such a device and what is it called ( I can look on New Egg if I know what to look for ) ? Does MSI sell one ? Does it attach in front into one of my drive bays ( I have lots of them in a Lian Li case ) ? If I have the device attached and plug my headphones into it, can I listen to audio through my headphones without having to unplug my speakers ?

My case is about 10 years old I believe. It is a Lian Li PC-70USB Full Tower ATX Case and it still is excellent. But it did not come with a front panel audio connector. Is it possible to buy one anywhere which can fit into a drive bay and which connects to the JAUD1 on the K9A2 ? I will search New Egg for "front panel audio connector", and I will ask Lian Li if perhaps they have one for older cases.
You can buy a new soundcard that comes with some front panel bay too ,though is much more expensive than a simple new case.
If you managed 10 years without a front jack why would you want it now ?!
Buy some USB headshones ,if there is a front USB connector ,maybe you get even better sound quality.
The sound on the Platnium is not so great anyway ,i ve turned it off in the first 2 months of usage to use either X-FI either D1 which are much better sound wise.

  • A55M-P33 Front Audio

I know there are lots of questions and answers on the front audio ports.   I just want to clarify some stuff.  I have the A55M-P33 motherboard which has the JAUD1 connector.  My case came with the HD and AC97 audio connectors.
I currently have the HD option connected to the JAUD1 pins on the motherboard.  If I decide to use that front audio port, is that the correct option to have connected to the motherboard?
And on another note, if I decide not to use the front audio ports, then is it okay to just disconnect that from the motherboard?

HD Audio is correct to have connected! (AC97 is a old type of connector and some cases have that just for if someone uses a old board that uses that)
If your just going to use the Rear outputs then its ok to not have the front audio plugged in as it will not be in use anyway!

  • Fuzzy 945gm2 front audio

    Hi,
I have an msi industrial motherboard. It is the min itx mobile core 2 duo motherboard which I use as a super quiet htpc/workstation. I've built my own case etc. and now I want to connect a 3.5mm front audio socket to the motherboard. I can't make any sense of the stuff in the manual about the JAUD1 front connector. I don't think it is the usual one on the other msi motherboards, and I don't see words like right out and left/right return. left out is there in the table on its own, none of the others though.
Can any one help me please?
    Thanks,
    Shailen.

The Fuzzy 945GM2/945GME2 share the same manual. If anyone can help figure it out here is the pinout for it:
