  • Connecting the front audio to my Audigy 2

Is there any possibilty to do this? I know Creative wants to sell platinum dri'ves, but the pins are there on the card.
I have a Thermaltake Soprano Case and 7 Connectors named:
    MIC VCC
    MIC-IN
    GROUND
    EAR R
    EAR L
    RETUR R
    RETURN L
Is someone here who knows where to put these or where to find a description?
Also I would like to connect my Firewire Port to the Audiy, is the pinout the same as on my mainboard?

That one doesn't help me, I don't know what any of the Pins on this Picture is for:

As you can see from the picture there, if you connect those pins 25/35 you can get S/PDIF signal out from pin 9 or S/PDIF in to pin 5 (not sure what else you need to do to get it working --> this all is discuissed on Driver Heaven Forum).
You are asking for analog lines for those connectors Thermaltake Soprano Case has:
MIC VCC = microphone 'phantom power' (2V?)
    MIC-IN = microphone input (mono?)
    GROUND
    EAR R = headphones Right
    EAR L = headphones Left
RETURN R = perhaps line in, right
    RETURN L = -- '' --, left
It should have helped, since there is a mention: all possible I/Os on card layout are digital only including those shown on that picture you linked (only the AnalogIn for CD (and perhaps the AUX_IN too) on card is analog).
Only way to get analog signal for/from your connectors mentioned is to use/wire connectors from the back of the Audigy card to these on case ones.
You can try (your own risk) if you get signal inputted when you connect return L/R to AUX_IN (Connects to the analog output from a CD/DVD-ROM dri've).
Perhaps your motherboard has I/Os for these connectors.

    Dear Sir,
I just have problem with front audio pin connector. My motherboard is MSI 915G Combo. In the manual it's describe as follows..
    1.  PORT 1L
    2.  GND
    3.  PORT 1R
    4.  PRESENCE#
    5.  PORT 2R

My Casing has only 8 pins. I already connect pin 1,2,3,5 and 9. It can produce front sound for head phone now but not clearly enought. But my casing has left another 3 pins to connect.
1 is GND and another 2 is for MIC.
So How can i connect it for front mic ???
    Can any1 help me .....

  • Connecting SB Live! 5.1 to front audio po

    Hi!
I have OEM version of SB Li've! 5. that I've bought with Creative Inspire 500 speakers. I also have a case with front audio ports but the problem is that I don't know how to connect soundcard with these ports. I haven't found any info about such possibility in manual but i have only short version of manual 'How to install'. Is there any possibility to connect my SB with the front ports? If there is - how can I do it's
    Regards,
    vacu
    ps.
sorry for my English, I hope you understand me

If you can find a 0-pin socket on Li've! card board, then you can connet your card output internally to the case audio/mic ports by following instructions given @ http://audigy2zshowto.blogspot.com/
NOTE: pin orde may be different on Li've! (instructions are for Audigy 2 Zs, but works well least w/ Audigy 2 card too (I have done this)).

  • Front audio port not working please help..

    Hey guys,
My HP Pavilion DV2275ea front audio jack does not work, I have tried many different headsets as the mic jack works just fine. I have tried reinstalling audio drivers (Conexant High-Definition Audio Chip) and still nothing. I have look at the support advice posted to no avail. Is there anything else i could try?
A friend said it could be turned off in the bios but i am not able to get in as i don't know the password for the phoenix bios, could this be true?
Any help will be greatly appreciated

Well from looking at a jpeg of your board the front usb headers are laid out just like my board. Each set of headers support 2 usb ports each. That gives you the 4 in the rear and 4 for the front.
Now as to the pinouts, 1+3+5+7+9 is 1 set and 2+4+6+8+10  is the 2nd set, with pins 1 and 2 being the 5V power pins. Pins 7 and 8 are your grounds.  3 and 4 are the usbo- and usb1-. Pins 5 and 6 are usbo+ and usb1+. Pin 9 is the "key" pin and may actually be missing by intention. Key 10 is sometimes called the usboc pin and normally isn't used. On some boards you don't want anything connected to pin 10, even if you have to snip the wire going to it and terminate the end of the wire with insulating tape.
Your motherboard manual should show you the pin layout.

  • Front audio not detected

Hi, I have a msi p35 neo 2 for quite some time now but didn't had the opportunity to use the front panel from my chieftec chase.Today I've tried the front panel but for my surprise alc888 didn't detected nor my headphone or the mic.If I disable front audio jack detection the mic and the headphones work but it doesn't switch off the back audio when I insert the headphones.
How could I solve this issue?
    BTW I'm on windows 7rc  x64 bit.

Not sure if the drivers are any compatible to Win 7 RC yet.

  • What will happen to front audio on computer ca

Hi, When installing a Sound Blaster Audigy Value card the instructions are to disable the motherboard's onboard audio. I currently have front audio from the computer case connected to the motherboard for private listening with headphones. Does it mean that I can no longer use the front audio connectors after installing the sound card?

Sorry but i think your out of luck creative are just about the only soundcard manufacturers who dont have front panel connectors.
Well i suppose they have to sell they're boxes of cheap tricks on the more costly soundcards somehow, if they let you have front panel connectors then no one would buy the higher ranged cards with breakout boxes, not that many do anyway

    Hi Frankenputer,
I'd also like to thank you for such a fast response! I do have a copy of the manual in my grubby little hands and I did read it. That's how  I was able to identify the motherboard pinouts in my first post. I guess that one slipped by you  . The link you provided is great, it'll come in handy if I ever misplace the manual down the road.
My problem stems from the way the case manufacturer labelled the wires for the front audio connector e.g. using a naming convention that differs from that of the Intel Front Panel I/O Connectivity specification.  Specifically the Mic-VCC, Line-L and Line-R wires.
Stated simply, I was hoping one of the experts here might be able to tell me/confirm if Mic-VCC should be connected to pin 3 - AUD_MIC_BIAS or to pin 4 - AUD_VCC, and if Line-R should be connected to pin 6 and Line-L to pin 10 on the motherboard.
Again, thanks for your reply and have a great day!!!

  • HP m7160n front audio jack problem

I am running Vista Home on my m7160n Media Center PC.  I used to be able to plug in my headphones to the front audio jack and it would cut out the rear speaker output.  Now it doesn't!  I have gone into sound properties and is IS set to turn off rear jack, when the system detects a plug in the front jack.  The headphones still work, but i need the speakers off when using the headphones.  I hope thats enough information.
    This question was solved.

    Hi MrBassMan26,
That is odd and sounds like the jack-detect isn't working right. Did this issue just start happening? Did it occur after installing anything, even a Windows Update?
If it just started happening, you could try running a Windows System Restore to an earlier point when it worked properly. Or you could trying re-installing the sound driver or even installing an updated sound driver. That should take care of it, and if it doesn't you may need to make some configuration changes in one of the Sound properties (Windows or Realtek).
I see that you have Vista, did you by chance upgrade to Vista from XP?
Try installing the Vista sound driver from Realtek: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsCheck.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=24&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&Down...
Let us know how it goes.

  • (help) front audio panel cords-- sound card??

    Dear all....
I have an ancient SB Li've! 24 bit SB 040.
Can anybody help me how to connect front audio header (casing) onto the card (ceati've proprietary connector)?
There are 0 pin connector on the card while the casing itself has only 7 pin.
    Regards,

I was wondering that myself. The only thing I think you could possibly do is have both the onboard and the pci sound card enabled and use the onboard sound just for the headphones. I have no tried this yet as I do have the cables connected to the mobo but I have the onboard sound disabled.

  • Front Audio Jack is of pool quality cosmetically

Hello, I have a problem with my Front Audio Jack. When I recevied my TS-P700, I noticed that my audio jack was on abnormal position. I adjusted its position, but it's still hard when I insert my earphone cord, I feel jammed. And tis disturbed by bezel. I wanna change a part, but I'm in South Korea now, service center refused my request cause my TS P700 is from USA. So, this is my question. 1. Can I exchange a front panel part with Lenovo USA via Air mail service? If it is possible, How? 2. I'd like to know its fru number of front panel. I found some fru number, but it is not exactly(04X2728, 03T8788) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For reference before adjust its position I have adjusted, tis still disturbing.   3 pictures above are normal state. Yes, it looks pretty good.I found it from review site. Thank you!

I'm a little confused if your issue is that you think the jack itself is damaged, or whether it's simply an alignement issue of the front panel assembly and the front bezel.  If it's an alignment issue, I'm not sure replacing the front panel assembly is really going to help you much.
The front panel assembly (which includes the front audio jack) is certainly replacable.  My records show that FRU for that front panel assembly is 03T8788, but it would be good to confirm that with service.
I'm not sure I can help with your first question.  Sounds like you would need to consider purchasing the FRU directly if service is refusing your request, but I'm not familiar with all the details.
Replacing the front panel is not terribly difficult in P700 (this is a nightmare of a task on P900), but you'll want to pay special attention to how the cables are routed as you're disassembling the system (the motherboard must come out) to ensure that you get everything back together correctly.

  • MSI Z77MA-G45 and front audio header

nice board, nice oc, but the front audio header does not seem to work(rear jacks are fine)
is there a bios setting i am missing?

Do the front USB headers work?
Also try the board out of case and put it on a non-conductive surface. Retry with basic components and see if font audio works if you connect it.

  • Can I connect an Audigy Platinium Front Panel to an Audigy 2 ZS simple card

I had an Audigy Platinium sound card with its front panel and all the stuff that came with it. Recently I bought an Audigy 2 ZS simple card. I was wondering if I can still use the front panel with the new sound card or I have to buy the specific front panel for the Audigy 2 ZS. Please help.

Thanks Cat for answer me so quickly. I have a one more question. Is it possible to get the dri'vebay for the Audigy 2 ZS separately? And if it's possible, how much does it cost and where can I get it's? Thank you.

  • Any way to utilize front audio ports on cas

I picked up the Creative X-Fi XtremeMusic today at a local store since the rest of the hardware will be coming in tommorrow (forgot to order a sound card, hence the reason I bought it at the store). Anyways, the case I ordered has a speaker and mic plug in the front of the case. Is there any way to use these things with the Creative X-Fi XtremeMusic? I switch from my speakers to headphones a lot and really find it annoying crawling behind the computer every time I need to. ;P Front audio ports would make things extremely convinient.
So, any possiblities with the X-Fi XtremeMusic?
If that's not possible, could I plug in the headphones to the third output on the card since I'm only running a 4. speaker setup?

Incase anyone else needs it, here are the pinouts:
    - Analog Ground
2 - Analog Headphone Out Left
3 - Audio Backpanel Mute -- short to ground to mute the backpanel (when headphones are plugged in)
4 - Analog Headphone Out Right
    5 - same as #3
6 - Mic input from front panel
    7 - key pin (shouldn't be there)
8 - VREF out -- voltage reference for Mic
9 - MIC IN MUTE -- ground when mic isn't plugged in, +2VDC when mic is plugged in
0 - Audio cable detect -- will be ground when headphones are plugged in (not normally used)

  • Front audio with PCI sound card?

Well, the front audio on my Antec P160W worked perfectly with the integrated sound, but I changed to my SoundBlaster Audigy Player because of the HORRIBLE audio quality. Now the front audio ports don't work. What do I need to do to make it work again? I'm not going back to the integrated.
At first I thought that I had to put the connectors for the front audio on the sound card, but the manual of it doesn't show any of those features.

I was wondering that myself. The only thing I think you could possibly do is have both the onboard and the pci sound card enabled and use the onboard sound just for the headphones. I have no tried this yet as I do have the cables connected to the mobo but I have the onboard sound disabled.
