Front End Patch Schedule

Hi there,
We are in an upgrade project, and for planning purposes are wondering when are planned FEPs for BI 2004s going to be released?
I understand that 902 is now out there, but what about the future?
I can't find anything on the service marketplace.

In general, the frontend patches are released at the same time as backend patches...
Therefore,
FEP9 is released with SPS9.
FEP10 is released with SPS10.
FEP11 is released with SPS11.
Between these, there will be FEP patches such as 901, 902, 903, etc... So far, on average, these have been coming out every 2 weeks or so... Just analyzing the pattern...

Front-End Patch

Dear Gurus, what's the best way to know what current front-end patch is being used here at the client's site. In Query Designer, if I click on About, ti just gives the version of SAP NetWeaver.

Are we talking about the BW Addon For SAPGUI FEP?
There are couple of way:
- BW 3.5 Addon for SAPGUI (6.40) FEP 13 is most current
- BW 3.5 Addon for SAPGUI 7.10 FEP 2 is most recent (For site running BEx 3.5 with a 7.0 BW.
- BI 7.0 Addon FEP - not using it just yet, not dure what the most current version is - it has some different numbering arrangement
1) If you are running 3.x and using the Bex Browser, the splash scrren on startup (think you also bring this screen up from one of the Menu options too) should have the BW FEP e.g. 3500.7. (plus some othe nbrs) is BW 3.5 Addon FEP 7
2) In the BEx Analyzer in 3.x (didn't see it in BI 7.0) one of the options somewhere under the Business Explorer Menu is an option called Installation Check. This opens the sapbexc.xla, which should open a workbook that has a button (not sure what it's called, something like Run Check) - press the button and it collects teh version info of all the BEx front end components and tells you if they are curent, missing, old.
In 3.5 for SAP Gui 7.10, you need to llok for something like sapbex350710c.xla.
There's one for 7.0, but not sure what it's called, try a search for *c.xla.
I think checking the logon pad provides teh SAPGUI FEP version info, no tteh BW Addon FEP. A frequent area of confusion as SAP doesn't do a good job explaining these items.

SAP Front-End Patch cannot be applied error

I have SAP GUI 7.2 patch level 4 installed on my machine and I am adobe life cycle designer. I got this error when I tried to install
"This SAP Front-End Patch cannot be applied. Either the installed components are already on the same patch level or the components to be patched are not yet installed at all.

a) Remove all SAP components via "Control panel", this is very
important
b) Install SAP GUI
c) Install latest GUI Patch

How to apply BI netweaver 2004s front end patch 14

We have GUI 640 and we want to apply BI netweaver 2004s front end patch 14.
i have downloaded trhe exe file but do not know how to apply it.
Can somebody tell me this?

hi,
u can close all the SAP Sessions even logon pad and execute the exe file...
say continue.... it will execute automatically
after that u can see the patch version in open logoon pad--> click on about sap logon... here u can see the patch level

Hi Gururaj,
First check if you have a "Apply Patch" in the SAP folder of the start menu. If so you can use the ".car" file and apply the patch.
In case you dont find it then you can download the patch as a ".exe" from http://service.sap.com/swdc. Execute the ".exe" and install the patch.

Front End Patch 11

Hi,
We are on BI 7.0 SP 10. I just applied the FEP 11 on my system and now when i run query from Analyzer, the screen freezes ( selection box does not popup as well for queries with selection ).
But if i try to create a workbook in design modeby attaching query to the Analysis Grid, it works. Bex Web Analyzer also works fine.
I am on Excel 2003 SP2.
Has anyone encountered this issue? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Is there a way to revert back to FEP 10 now?

Searching for BW Front End Patch for BW 3.50 and SAPGUI 640

We have recently upgraded to SAP GUI 640,
Analyzer, Query designer and WAD are now not working i image because it needs an upgraded BW frontend patch.
But i am trying to find the correct FEP for BW version to install for BW 350.
I have come as far as the below link, but cannot find the FEP's. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Go to SAP Note 1006942 - BW 3.5 Frontend Patch 12 and click on the 'Download Corrections' button at the top of the screen.

CD / Download for installing BI 7.0 Front-end components?

Hi,
We have just upgraded a test system from BW 3.1 to BI 7.0.
Our basis team also upgraded my SAP GUI to 640.
This GUI 640 installation also upgraded the Business Explorer components. However, Query Designer & Web Application Designer are now just on Release 3.5. Apparently all the latest patches of 640 have been installed. Is GUI 7.00 available somewhere?
I would like to know where I can get the new BI 7.0 components of Query Designer, WAD & Report Designer. Ideally, I would like to install on my PC the legacy 3.x components as well so that I can maintain the existing BW systems that have not upgraded.

Hi Adrian,
When you run the GUI setup with 640, you get the option for which items you want to install. If you choose the BI items, then the new Analyzer, WAD, Report Designer etc.. get installed. You may have to re-run the installation and choose these components.
Latest Front End Patches are available from <a href="https://websmp204.sap-ag.de/swdc">SAP Software Distribution Centre</a>
On the left menu, go to Download > Support Packages and Patches > Entry by Application Group > SAP Frontend Components > SAP GUI for Windows > SAP GUI for Windows 6.40 > Win32 and download "Bw700SP09_900-10001615.exe".
This is the latest patch (FEP9), so you may want to go FEP802 instead.
If you can't find the GUI CD with installation components, they are also available here (Setup640 and GUI640).

Your 3.x tools will remain on the Start menu after you install the 'new' tools.

Front End Server Certificate Renewal

I would like to see if someone could offer simple clarification to a hopefully simple question. My OAuth and Default Certificates are expiring soon.
Can I request a certificate, using the wizard (which has worked before so no issues there) and effectively "stage" it to later assign during my scheduled maintenance window so I can simply assign and reboot?
It isn't exactly imperative that this works in exactly this way, it would just be nice to request the certificate and ease my workload later, sort of like staging system patches but with certs, ha ha.

That's exactly how you'd do it. Request it and stage it, confirm that you can assign it but don't. Then, during your maintenance window you'd assign it and restart.
oAuth you'd only assign once to a primary Front End, that should replicate out on it's own. The other certs you'd need to assign individually to each front end, reverse proxy, etc.

Fields for creation of BP in cProjects front-end are read-only

Hi everyone,
I'm a beginner in SAP-Development/Customizing so I hope this question isn't too easy
I can't create a Business Partner using the cProjects front-end (Ressources > Staffing) because the necessary fields and buttons are read-only... (> web-Dynpro Component: DPR_ROL_STAFF; View-Info: VI_SEARCH_CREATE)
I'm using CPRXRPM 450_700 patch 0006
The field-control is standard-SAP (0SAP).
My user-account has all cProject-roles + SAP-ALL
I assume i can change the behaviour of these fields in the Field Control but I can't identify which is the corresponding Object Category to apply the changes.
- Is there a documentation which field belongs to which Object Category in Field Control?
- Or can somebody tell me a procedure to find it out on my own?

generally it is recommended to use transaction BP or ALE distribution to get the business partner be created.
If you would like to create the BP in web UI directly, the user must have the Structural Authorization, see customizing path:
Collaboration Projects -> Resource Management -> Organizational Management.
It is very HR related topic, you may contact a HR consultant to know more details about it.

Front end components are needed for LSO

Dear experts,
We want to implement Training & Eventmanagent in ESS portal. I searched in sdn .But i didn't get proper solution. It seems from EHP5 onwards these services /iviews are obsolete and TEM is repleced by LSO only.
for LSO Implementation which Business Package and portal components I need to be installed and which Add on to be installed in Application server.

What is BW Front-end and Whats BW Back-end? Technica ? Functional?

Hi Gurus,
Can some one throw light on the diff between a BW Front-end and BW BAck-end? How will u diff the responsibilities of a Functional BW Consultant and Technical BW Consultant?

Hi,
BW Front end is the one that deals with reporting. Eg: BEx
BW back end is the one that deals with the components that stores data which is used for the reporting purpose.
Eg: R3
Functional consultant comes into picture when there is a need to understand the functional aspects of a requirement, say for example, you have a requirement to use Sales Order in your BW application, as a pure BW person, you wont know what a Sales Order is about. A functional consultant has the ability here to map the sales order requirement in the BW application. This means that, he knows what field and what table this sales order relates to. This way, a functional consultant maps the user requirements to the technical detail in the system.
A pure BW consultant is one who knows how to setup data extraction from source system , how to build various components in a BW system, how to schedule a load, how to troubleshoot in case of any issues in the BW application.

Authentication with UME separation of front end and back end

My webdynpro project has 2 application. One for Admin one for Rating.
Is it possible to create a java class at Webdynpro level and share it between the 2 applications?
Why the need?
Created a custom class (lets called it CommonEJB), to point to the right pages and set of UI controls after the initial login with UME. This class utilizes the IWDClientUser.getSAPUset() method to get IUser object.
If it is not possible to create a java class at Webdynpro, then this ejb will need to be deployed to the backend.
Putting it at the backend is not good as security wise, its always better to separate the authentication between front and back end.
Any ideas/solutions?

Well, i wish to create a java class that can separate the view areas depending on their login.
lets say you're a manager, u can see certain views. and if you're a supervisor u see another. This is achieved using the java class with information from getSAPUser() position. After retrieving the position, using the java class will programmatically assigned the appropriate views, buttons, tabs etc.
so this class need to in front end, and not back end. problem is we have 2 application.
if the class is created front end in one application can it be shared with another.

Forward navigation does not work in the Front-end new editor

I just upgraded my GUI to 7.20 Patch level 3 (highest available), and when I use the new Front-end editor, the forward navigation by double clicking does not seem to work. When I double click on a perform statement, the editor takes me to the sub-routine. However, when I double click on a perform on the sub-routine, it goes back to the first one. I saw the following thread

and still does not show any solution. It does work when I switch to the Old Front-end editor.
Any thought or solution, other than switching to Old Front-end editor.

Thanks for the response. But it is not the issue. I found the problem. This is a system issue and has been fixed in SP19. There is an OSS Note 1279209 that explains the problem and the solution, if you are interested.

When i press back from status bar - it hanged, BI 7.0 Front end:7100...27

when i press back from cube data display , i cant get previous screen, have to do stop transcation,
my front end ver:7100.1.0.1027 and patech level 0, should i install patch level 1,
OR is there any not avialable for fix that,
and find is also not efficient in nw 7.0.
