Front / Rear balance on X

Hi there,
I bought an X-FI Fatality and also have an 7. speakersystem (creative T7700 if I remember correct) My rear speakers are pretty far away in comperison with the other 5, First I used the onboard card of my motherboard and then I can balance the front, rear, side volume, how can this be done with the X-FI, I can not find it. Now I do not here my rear speakers because the others ore to loud.
I have a dutch isntallation, so if someone also knows dutch please specify the procedure in dutch, but english is fine to.
Tnx, Ronald

Did you try setting the distance of your speakers through the THX console?

  • K8N SLI Simultaneous Front + Rear Audio

    Hi all,
I'm having terrible difficulty in trying to get front + rear audio connectors at the same time on my K8N SLI. What I want is audio always coming out of the back, but also when I want to plugin some headphones to be able to plug them into the front connector without having to get around the back of the case to take cables in + out? Does this mobo only support 1 connector at a time? The case is a coolermaster wavemaster btw.
I have searched and found a few people who had problems with front connectors but didnt find any threads on people who wanted both working at once.
    Thanks in advance

Just realised - I don't know if everyone can see that forum, so...
I have the 5.1 system working 100% of the time off 3 stereo plugs on the back of the PC and headphones working off the front audio panel when they're plugged in  Perfect!
So media, I guess you now know of a board that does both!

    front left in front left
    front centre in front centre
front right in front right + subwoofer - ?
    rear right in rear right
    rear left in rear left
    HELP ME PLEASE

You still have not told me how you performed the test to determine that you are getting two channels in front right, I am pretty sure you could not detect this with all 6 speakers on the go. There are 2 possibilities, ) you ran the Creative speaker utility or 2) you physically disconnected all the speaker wires except front right.
In any case do both and tell me what you hear.
What is most interesting to me is that the sub woofer channel is paired with front centre in the card.

  • Front/Rear Facing Camera

Hi - I'm looking to get a ipod touch (had a classic for years but lost it and desparately want to get it replaced).
Anyway, I would really like to be able to go to concerts etc and be able to record things on the stage, or take photos with me in them as well as using it as a standard camera, so guessing I need one with a front facing camera as well as a rear facing camera.
In the specs it says that the ipod 32gb is the only ipod touch with both front and rear - but I know that there's a 4th generation as well as 5th generation and its not clear to me which one the specs refer to - do they both have it?
Would like to get the most cost effective one out there - not necessarily the latest out but it does need a really good camera and good video and music displays.
    Can anyone help please? Cheers.

Yeah lllaass is right. I used to have the 4th Generation 8GB and now I have the 5th Generation 32GB! I am so grateful for my 5th Gen because the cameras are excellent compared to the 4th Generation. iOS 7 runs smoothly and everything is great with it. I will never go back to the 4th Generation at all anymore! I think 32GB is more than enough because personally, I use only 14GB which then means I still have 18GB left! It is plenty of space and it is $299!

  • Audio going out randomly through front & rear jack during VLC & Mplayer

When I play a movie on VLC or mplayer it shuts down the audio of the VLC player as well as the entire audio of the computer.
I have to pull the headphone jack out then plug it back in for the audio to go back on.
    Any thoughts?
I have changed my speakers... My amp.. my wires. even tried the front and back jack.
It only happens during VLC or mplayer?
    But happens more during VLC.
I thought maybe it was the jack but it happens at both jack.
Then I switched wires... no go.
My amp works fine on all other electronics even a second computer,
Thought it was VLC then it happens on Mplayer.
It happens on no other application tho.
and it shuts the audio of all functions of my computer down until i pull the jack in and out.
Could it be my sound board?
    any thoughts?

Well I changed it back to 44.1 however it still happens even on 44.1
I am not sure why its happening.
It only happens when playing avi in VLC and Mplayer.
the MIDI setup helps me reset the audio instead of pull the headphone in and out.
    but its getting annoying

  • Inspire 5.1 5700 Digital system not working correctly

I have a Inspire 5.1 5700 Digital speaker system that has some issue's.
The front speakers are all that is working with center channel low volume , the Sub and Rear speakers are not working according to set-up in software , But Sub is working in games and with Music.
I had been using an MSI P67/ G43 MB onboard sound. Today I gave up and purchased a new sound card, an Audigy Rx. Installed the drivers, did the update for drivers. I was working w/ speaker set up and mic setup and I still have the same problem.
I am thinking there has been a change in the drivers or windows 7, that the controller does not recognize. I have checked all speakers and the are working.
I also am using the Optical output to the controller.

Ok , I changed it to SPDIF and it only shows 2 channel @ Hz. in the test that pops up, only 2 front speakers are activated. In Arma 3 , it seems to have 5.1 sound again now.
I used to be able to set up and test the speakers and set the front / rear balance and fade thru the software. I am un able to do that an again, the source is not Optical but SPDIF.
So, what am I doing wrong here ??
and thank you for the quick response and help O))
    Hi RonReagan,
SPDIF (Sony Philips Digital Interconnect Format) basically has 2 types of connection: Optical and Coaxial. In this case, you are using an Optical connection. Hence, it is known as SPDIF Optical.
It is correct that you received 2 audio channels during speaker test via an optical connection. An alternative way is to initiate the test through the Windows audio endpoint for SPDIF Out (optical Out).
At the Sound of the Windows Control Panel, configure SPDIF Out as the default device. Click on the Properties. At the Supported Formats tab, check the box for DTS Audio or Dolby Digital. Click on the Test button to initiate the speaker test. You should able to test for the rear speakers.
    Cheers,

  • Subwoofer don't work on last 7.1 24bit dri

Hi! I've installed the last driver for SoundBlaster 7. 24bit. I've setup to 5. (I have 5. system)?from Audio Console but the subwoofer don't work. What can I do to work as 5., not as 5.0. Thanks!

i think we have the same soundblaster. try this driver:
    http://files2.europe.creative.com/ma...B__04_0077.exe
and it may help you. also, try the xp drivers. this way you won't need audio console anymore because the applications [for xp] from creative [eax console, surround mixer, etc] will work for you.
also check the sound settings in control panel. is it set on 5.
le: i just installed this driver: http://forums.creative.com/showthread.php?t=26859
it works like a charm. try it. uninstall everything for your soundcard and install the driver. you get vista drivers and the apps.
it's great [one thing though, there's no independent speakers volume control, so you'll have to use the eax front/rear balance slider to calibrate the speakers].

  • New X-fi Xtreme Music owner need advice.

I just upgraded from Audigy 2 ZS to X-Fi Xtreme Music. I'm using Vista 64bit SP2 and will be upgrading to Win 7 64 bit soon. I have Logitech X-530 5. speakers set. Before this, I used Daniel's Audigy Support Pack 3.5 and quite happy with it. Now I'm I'm using X-Fi Support Pack 2.0. Being new to X-Fi, I'm quite confused and have a few questions on X-Fi's mode.
    1) Games
If I play any games, I assume I have to switch to Game Mode. Do need to enable X-Fi CMSS 3D, X-Fi Crystalizer,SVM and EQ? I have 5. speakers and will enabling those enhancement spoilts the games' sound. If I'm not mistaken, most newer games supports OpenAL so 5. speakers are automatically supported.
    2) Music
So far I have been using Foobar for music. I'm using DirectSound output and and Channel Mixer to upmix stereo to 5.. I believe X-Fi CMSS 3D does the same thing so I need to switch to Entertainment mode. If I want to use CMSS 3D, I would need to disable Channel Mixer in Foobar but I still havent try which sounds better. What are the best settings for CMSS 3D for 5. speakers set? Do I need to enable SVM, X-Fo Crystalizer and etc?
    3) Movies
This is the hardest part for me because I don't know which is the best settings. I normally use Media Player Classic Home Cinema and AC3 filter for sound. If my movie is stereo, AC3 Filter will upmix to 5. and if the audio is DTS or DD AC3, it will play as it is. Which mode should I choose for movies? Do I need to enable CMSS3D, X-Fi Crystalizer, SVM and etc?
I would appreciate if you guys could advice me the best settings for my setup because I'm really confused. Thank you!

    Hello. XtremeMusic owner here
For most games you don't have to switch modes and can happily play in ENT or GAME mode. Some exceptions. If you play a game like BF242 then it's better to switch to GAME mode. If you are playing over headphones then again go to game mode and select HEADPHONES under the speaker tab, enable CMSS to get 3D surround over headphones in games. I think the newer games handle sound a bit differently - i.e. they don't use EAX and such so experiment with this one.
For Music I switch to ENT mode because I have different EQ settings for MP3s. I up the bass slightly, turn on Crystalizer and set CMSS to SURROUND and the front/rear balance slider to about 75% front.
I also use MPC for movies and stay in ENT mode. The only difference I make is to switch of CMSS for a movie that has a true surround track otherwise the XFI will mix the front channels into the rears.

  • Pulseaudio split front and rear audio

    Hello fellow archers!
I'm trying to have to separate sinks so that I am able to route some applications to my speakers, using the audio jacks from the back of my case, while other apps should play in my headphones using the jack from the front panel.
Right now what I hear in the speakers(back) I also hear in my headphones (front)
I have pulse audio installed and I tried this Splitting front/rear from the wiki.
So in my /etc/pulse/default.pa I added:
    load-module module-remap-sink sink_name=speakers remix=no master=alsa_output.pci-0000_00_1b.0.analog-stereo channels=2 master_channel_map=front-left,front-right channel_map=front-left,front-right
    load-module module-remap-sink sink_name=headphones remix=no master=alsa_output.pci-0000_00_1b.0.analog-stereo channels=2 master_channel_map=rear-left,rear-right channel_map=front-left,front-right

Hi,?Can I have speakers (2.0 Creative I-Trique 2200) and headphones with mic (Sennheiser PC6)?connected at the same time to the back of the card? The question is related to SB X-FI XtremeGamer Fatalty?(without front panel), as I assume with a front panel it wouldn't be an issue. I'm just trying to find out if the connections on the back of the card allow for that? Thanks,

More than possible. Start with plugging the headphones into the front out jack and the speakers in the rear out. Then it is just a matter of changing the speaker settings and a change in CMSS. When using the headphones set it to headphones, and when you want to use the speakers set it to 4., and in the CMSS settings adjust the fron/rear balance to all rear.

  • Laptop rear speakers muted. Not showing up in alsamixer.

This is my second time around with Arch.  I had this same problem before but I was able to Google the issue no problem, but I can't for the life of me find the right combination of keywords this time around.  I'm sure someone will come in here and take 3 seconds to find it...
Anyways, like the title says.  My rear speakers aren't playing any noise.  Last time I am pretty sure that I just had to type in some command and then go into alsamixer to turn the volume up on the rear speakers, but when I use the 'alsamixer' command I can only see the "master" channel.  I also installed pulseaudio but found nothing in the settings.
HP pavilion computer, using ALSA and and pulseaudio.  I'm not sure what other information would be needed.  If I there is some command I need to type in to list some info about my hardware/drivers please let me know and I will do that for you.  I know this is an easy fix, and I did try to Google it myself before coming here.  I just couldn't find anything that fixed my issue this time around.
    Thank you.

It's considered obnoxious, as it's an empty post with no extra detail/troubleshooting -- also, asking if it's ok to bump with a bump makes the question rather redundant, does it not? Like knocking on a door and entering at the same time.

  • Left rear channel not working - Xfi

My left rear channel is not working. Its not the speakers nor the connections, its the soundcard (Xfi XM). I know this because I switched the front/rear connections to test them and the same problem?channel did not work. The problem is in both Vista and XP, so its not the software/drivers either. Any solution to this? Thanks.

My inspire 5.1 5300 speakers are set up for 5.1 surround sound. I have CMSS enabled. I hear static from the rear speakers. Everything seems to be set up just fine. But when I run the speaker test the front right, center, and front left work. The rear left and rear right speaker sound comes out of the center speaker instead of the rear speakers even though the center speaker also gives out the correct test sound.

I dont see how the sub wont work. It has the seperate front, rear, and center in. The sub should work with just the front in as far as i know. My SBS 450 seems to work that way... i have yet to get my inspire 5.1 working but ill find out if i happen to..

  • Rear/side speakers not working on GigaWorks S750

I have a Creative GigaWorks S750 7. sound system and a motherboard which uses Realtek HD audio.
There are four colored jack ports on the back of the sub, which are labelled:
    Green: Front
    Pink: Center/subwoofer
    Black: Rear
    Grey: Side
There are six jack ports on my motherboard:
Yellow,Blue, Black, Green, Grey and Pink.
The cable that came with the sound system has four jacks on one end, and three on the other.
On the four-jack end, they are Green, Yellow, Black and Grey (so they match up perfectly to the sub, presuming the yellow jack goes into the pink jack port).
On the three-jack end, is Black, Yellow and Green
I have plugged the three-jack end's jacks into the Black, Yellow and Green jack ports on my motherboard.
Everything is now matching. I also have Windows and the Realtek HD Audio Manager set to 7.1.
The front left, front right, front center, sub and back right work fine. However, neither of the side speakers or back left work.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Kingmustard,
It's recommended to find out which colored audio jack is used for the front, rear, side & center/subwoofer for the Realtek HD audio. The motherboard manual should have this information. Depending on the configuration, you may need a 4 to 4 cable instead. Our default 7.1 connection setup with our Creative sound cards uses the supplied 3 to 4 cable.
    Please refer to this article.
