Front Row cant find music

I have an external hardrive with my itunes library on it
Itunes works perfectly with it, however I cannot get frontrow to use the drive
I have tried creating an alias of the entire itunes folder draggin that across but nothing. I have tried creating aliases of the seperate folders again draggin them into the music folder... but nothing.
Any ideas?

Front Row cant find my music

Hi,
Im pretty new when it comes to Mac. Ive added all my music and downloaded some from IStore, but Front Row says that it cant find the music and that I need to either import it or buy it from Istore. But Ive done this and still it doesnt work.
what can I do?

I too have found this. My sharing was already on. However, my issue relates to Audiobooks specifically. I get them from Audible.co.uk. I have a specific library for audiobooks and keep music in the standard iTunes folder and use the Alt key to choose the library when starting.
In the audiobooks library I have set up playlists for different genres. This works in iTunes and on the iPod I use for the books, but not in Frontrow. In FR all my non protected books appear but the protected do not unless I go to the specific Audiobooks folder. They all appear and work fine, but that means I have to know who wrote the book in order to find the book I want. In a substantial library this is long winded. It would be better if I could just choose a custom playlist.
Any ideas?

Front Row not finding music anymore

My front row has suddenly decided that it can't find my music anymore. It used to work but now it simply tells me that i need to add music to iTunes.
any advice?

Everything I can see in Front Row is stored on my external HD, and all was working fine until recently. Therefore, it would seem that Front Row does read from the external disc, but will not update from it. I am presuming it is the Library Data file that is not updating.
All works fine in iTunes, it's just in Front Row that I have the problem (that applies to music, movies, podcasts, etc.).
When you say add an alias, I am presuming that is to point iTunes to my music library, but that is not a problem, because iTunes is already pointing to my music library, using the "consolidation" command.
Where exactly did you put our alias ? I tried putting on in the iTunes folder (on the internal drive), but Front Row seems to look at the iTunes Library Data file. If I put a movies alias in my Movies folder (not the one in iTunes but the one in the User folder), Front Row will see that, because it sees that folder in addition to the iTunes Movie folder. However, all of my movies are in the iTunes movies folder, because they sync from there to my Apple TV.

Ugh. help me if you can! Proplem w/ front-row. no music on slideshow

forgive me if this is a small problem that I should be able to resolve on my own.
When using Front Row to access a slideshow, the music that I added to the show doesn't play! Yet, when I launch the show from iPhoto, it plays. This happens on only one particular slideshow. ..I did delete the "plist" for iPhoto, but this didn't fix it (this was a sort of "fix all" tip that I found using the help menu.)
Any suggestions? Front Row is pretty cool - I'd hate to not be able to use it.

Yes, thank you, i realised that headphones with noise canceling are something i must get....but, i cant belive that the same headphones with touch and nano produce such dramatic different experience...i can hardly belive that nano has better what..sound procesor, amplifier than touch...it shouldent be that way.
i am thinking it must have something to do with ..say latest regulations regarding volume imput in some countries or what, and i thought that it must be the program that cansels it..or so..since i have wireless on this thing.

Front Row not finding iTunes?

I recently moved all my music to an external hard drive, and since then, I haven't been able to use Front Row. The application starts up perfectly, but when I go to find any music to play, it says there is no music to be found. The message that pops up is "Front Row can't find any songs. Use iTunes to import songs or purchase songs from the iTunes store."
Anyone have any ideas on how to help? Thanks in advance!

I have the same issue. I think it is b/c the library is also on my external drive - I think Front Row looks for it in the Music folder. My pictures are in the Pictures folder and Front Row seems to be picking it all right.
Anybody knows how to direct Front Row to search for the library on the external drive?

Front Row claims no music, but iTunes has all my music listed

I'm new to the Mac OS so completely in your hands to help with an issue I am having with trying to get Front Row going... here is what I am observing and my environment:
Situation
- All my music is listed in iTunes (videos as well)
- When using Front Row and looking at the library it states there is no music and that I need to purchase music from the iTunes store
- My MacBook from work (2.0GHz Intel with 10.5.6) has the iTunes library also from my exernal drive... BUT has all the music listed! :/
Environment
- Mac Mini (2.0GHz Intel)
- OS X v10.5.6
- Front Row v2.0 (229)
- All my music is on an external Buffalo TeraStation 1TB disk-array
- Music totals about 300GB (+/-)
- All my music is DRM-free and are 'ripped' from my CDs before getting the Mac... or mixes I have downloaded online from various sites such as Podomatic, etc.
What I've tried
* In looking at various sites online (including here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1826723&tstart=0) I have tried the solution of taking the default music location in iTunes and putting an alias to my external disk-array... and then rebuilt the library and rebooted... still Front Row claims nothing there.
* It was mentioned in another posting on Apple (I believe) about looking at the Front Row 'library file' and deleting it and then let it get re-created by the software... nothing.
Anyhow I'd love to use Front Row but really frustrated as to why it wont reflect all the music I already have in iTunes! Any suggestions? I'm new to the Mac OS, but by far not a newbie to computers so feel free to ask any in-depth questions which might help... I just might also need the path on how to find the information being asked.
Again, my Macbook does list everything in Front Row from the iTunes library and from my limited knowledge the only difference is that my laptop is solely connected wirelessly and the Mac Mini is via RJ45... but I would be shocked if that played into this. Suggestions?
Hopefully this will also help others as I've asked many of my 'Mac friends' and they are also stumped as to why Front Row wont show what is in my library.

1) No - downloaded a free song and it plays in iTunes, but claims nothing in Front Row. Also Front Row states there are no podcasts, even though I have at least 6 podcasts in iTunes all with a lot of content
2) I shared the Macbook library and I -can- view it with Front Row on the Mac Mini... so that worked.
2b) Front Row on the Macbook is able to work with not only my Macbook iTunes, but also loads the Mac Mini library and works with it. :/
2c) Switch source back to the Mac Mini, and nothing...
So is this as simple as a corrupt install or something? Seems something local to Front Row on the Mac Mini itself...

Itunes cant find music files

Seems to be some discussion on this problem where as itunes will not play the music on the computer and says it cant find the music files. I found that the block for using itunes as default audio player has to be checked. This is in preferences under the advanced tab. Seems to come unchecked at times and stops the player. Also my music location, also under advanced will go back to default at times. (My files are on an external hard drive) Hope this helps.

Cant find music after sucessful update

uploaded some music to my ipad 2 but after a sucessful upload i cant find the music on my ipad, eventhough it works perfectly on my computer itunes. what is wrong?

If the music is in your iTunes library on the computer, sync with iTunes again.
Connet the iPad to the PC, launch iTunes. Select the iPad from under the Devices heading on the left sidebar of iTunes. Click on the Music Tab in the iTunes window on the right. Check the Sync Music Heading. Select all of the albums, artists, playlist, songs - whatever - and then sync again. You may have to click on Apply in the lower right corner of the iTunes window.
You can also download purchased music again in many locations. Go to the iTunes app on the iPad and click on the Purchased tab (if you have one) and you can download your songs again as long as you use the same Apple ID that you used to buy the songs.

Ipod cant find music

My ipod suddenly won't find my music. I-tunes still has it all, but the computer now won't "mount ipod". The ipod memory shows that there are files still on it. Reset does not help. Last time I ran the battery down, then recharged it and the music appeared again. Next time I turned it on, the music was gone again. any suggestions?

Your purchased iTunes music should be in the iTunes window ????
Connect your iPod to your computer. It should launch iTunes for you. Then from the iTunes Menu Bar, click File / Sync iPod
If you don't see your iTunes purchased music in the iTunes window, try My Documents/My Music/iTunes.

Problems with Front Row, listening to Music and view Photos

My new imac is experiencing problems while in frontrow. If I am listening to music through itunes and then go to view photos at the same time the computer freezes for minutes on end before coming up with an error message about not being able to access the photos. When I finally manage to get out of front row, iphoto is opened up on my desktop. Is anyone else having problems like this?

Yeah, I think, unfortunately thats the best solution to this. Disappointing though, this is the 2nd imac that I've had major issues with straight out of the box.

Cant find music

I bought a bunch of apps and music from itunes with my iphone , before i could sync my phone ,i dropped it and had to get it repaired. I can find the purchase history on my acct but i cant get the songs into my library... id like to get them on my phone again .... Help ?

3rd party apps can be downloaded again with iTunes on your computer or with your iPhone and you won't be charged again for a purchased app as long as you use the same iTunes account to re-download the app that was used to purchase the app originally.
Not the same with music and movies/tv shows. Maintaining a backup for your purchased music and any movies/tv shows from the iTunes store is your responsibility. You can contact iTunes store customer support to request being able to download the music again that was purchased with your iPhone before it was dropped.

Media Playen cant find music

Hi, i have new songs added to the E71 and the media player wont find them, when you search via "Serch" program it can see and play not problems, any ideas?

Try refreshing the music library now that you've added new tracks. You can do this with 'Options' --> 'Refresh' from within the Music Player app (may take a while to complete if you have many songs).
My previous phones:
6310i --> SE K750i --> E50 --> E61i --> E71
... much prefer the Nokia phones, especially the E71

Cant find music in "purchased"

I want to download my previously purchased music from itunes, but when I go to the purchased list, only my apps appear! How can I find and download my music??

Either Look in the iTunes Store on your iPhone or look in the iTunes Store in the iTunes Program on your desktop, laptop or whatever you have. Then if you go to "Not in my Library" or "Not on my iPhone" then your purchses that aren't on the device should appear. Make sure you are looking at the correct section such a Music, Apps, TV Shows etc if youre on a computer. If you are on your iPhone and you want music or video then go on the iTunes store, if you want Apps, then go to the App Store.
