Front Row disappeared from my iMac

I already read other topics to solve my problem but no one can answered my question. I updated software to Mac OS X (10.4.9) then my Front Row was disappeared. I tried to press command+esc from my keyboard. I also click menu twice from apple remote and so on but nothing happened. Finally, I tried to install bunbled software only but it appeared "Bundled Software cannot be installed on this computer. Make sure your system meets the requirements." What am I doing wrong? What can I do? I want my Front Row back!
Thank you very much
iMac 1.83 GHz Intel Core duo 1.5GB Ram   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
You can look to see if Front Row is really gone, it should be in this path:
/Macintosh HD/System/Library/CoreServices/
If it's really gone, you will need to reinstall the bundled software from your install disk. The message you see should only appears if you're trying to use the install disk from a different model computer. Are you certain you have the right install disk that came with your iMac? If it is the right disk, it's possible it's been damaged in some way. You might need to get the disk(s) replaced.

  • Front Row disappeared from my computer

Ok, here's the deal. I was having some problems with my optical drive so I took my iMac G5(iSight) to a Mac store. They had to reinstall Tiger, which they did, but now Front Row is no longer on my computer, even though it came with Front Row already installed on it. I stopped back and they said I could use the reinstallation disks to get it back on there, so I put in the disk, clicked on "Reinstall Bundled Software" and it went through the entire software installation process....still no Front Row. Anyone have any clue what's going on here? I gave it to a Mac Store and when I got it back, Front Row was missing. I'm just trying to get figure out how I can get it back.
    Thanks in adavance

The guy at the Mac store said that Front Row isn't a part of Tiger so he said they're not responsible...
Who was this guy? Where did you take your iMac in for service? Users of Intel-based Macs can re-install Front Row from the "bundled software" installer on the Mac OS X install disk. However, Front Row is NOT included in the "bundled software" installer for G5 iSight iMacs. Front Row is included in the Mac OS X installer for those Macs. Your technician is misinformed and used the incorrect disk to install Mac OS X. I would take your iMac back and have then use the correct disk to re-install Mac OS X. They are responsible for your copy of Front Row as it IS included with Mac OS X for your model.

  • Front Row disappears from MacBook Pro

I found Front Row is not launching. I tried running the updater but it says FR is not installed on my machine!
The remote is paired and can control the volume and tracks on iTunes.
I have repaired permissions, shut down, restarted etc but no luck.
    Any solutions, anyone?

Try pressing Command ( key) and Esc...thats the keyboard shortcut for Front Row.
I was having difficulties accessing Front Row using the remote after pairing it and having the MBP sleep. I believe I have solved this by unpairing the remote (Security in System Preferences) and restarting.
    Hope this helps!

iWeb 'disappeared' from my iMac after upgrading to OS X10.8 - any ideas? tkx

Did you do an erase and install of Mt Lion? In any case you'll have to reinstall iWeb from its original source.  Did iWeb come with your computer?  If so you should have a couple of disks that came with your Mac and one of them will have the Bundled Software Install package on it.  Like one of these:
Be sure to update iWeb to the latest and last version, 3.0.4, from Apple Downloads web page.

  • IPhoto has disappeared from my iMac . Can you help restore it?

Can you restore iphoto ?  It has disappeared from my iMac.

You can reinstall iPhoto with the Applications Install DVD that came with your iMac.
If you upgraded to iPhoto 11 from the App Store, you can reinstall from the App Store.

My notes application has disappeared from my iMac, how do I get it back?

If you don't find it: start the iMac while holding the Alt(option) key: you get the EFI menu, choose the recovery disk, reinstall Lion: this leaves the user data untouched. But as always: backup.
It will restore the system apps also.

  • When you import photos to your ipad from your iMac , do those photos disappear from the iMac?

When you import photos from your iMac to your ipad, do those photos disappear from the iMac??

No. Syncing albums from your computer to your iPad copies the photos to your iPad but leaves them on the computer.

  • Front Row Disappears

I have Front Row (1.3.1) running on an early 17-inch Intel iMac on 10.4.11, except that it is randomly disappearing. I’ve searched the message boards and Apple’s posted information without much success.
When the computer has been off for at least an hour and then booted up, Front Row works via the keyboard shortcut as well as with the remote. Anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes later Front Row won’t launch using either mode. And, the option under the System Preferences pane for Security to “Disable remote control infrared receiver” also disappears.
I have reinstalled the entire OS and applications from the ground up (wiped the drive clean). None of the applications are out of the ordinary (Adobe CS and MS Office 2008, Canon print driver, Canon scanner driver, and the rest is standard Apple apps). Prior to the clean install of everything the system wouldn’t update to Front Row 1.3.1 because it didn’t think the iMac had the infrared feature.
I don’t know when this disappearing act showed up in terms of OS or firmware updates.
    Any assistance would be welcomed.

I'm not sure what to say. The fact that Front Row stops working and the option to disable the IR receiver in the Security System Preferences seem to happen at the same time would indicate to me that the IR receiver is not available to Mac OS X. I don't remember ever hearing of an application or utility that was interfering with the receiver. Some people claim that florescent lights interfere with IR signals, but (and that has resolved issues for people here), but that wouldn't interfere with the Mac's internal connection to the IR receiver.
If it continues to happen, you might want to take the computer into an Apple retail store or local Apple Authorized Service Provider for a more sophisticated check-up.

  • Internal HD disappeared from my iMac Desktop, & System Profiler

I use an iMac from 2011 running Mac O.S. X Version 10.6.8. It contains an internal SSD (the boot drive), and an internal 2TB hard drive called HD2.
The iMac underwent a diagnostic check at the Genius Bar last week, and everything checked out okay.
HD2 has disappeared from my desktop. Restarting the iMac has not brought it back.
The HD2 used to show up under Serial-ATA: Intel 6 Series Chipset in System Profiler, but no longer does.
Disc Utility no longer shows HD2.
Time Machine has been backing up both the SSD and HD2 on 6TB of external storage. But I do not see HD2, no matter how far back I go into Time Machine.
Spotlight searches do not turn up stuff that is on HD2.
I get a "The disk was not ejected properly" message when properly ejecting external drives.
Any idea what is going on?

If OS X iwas installed on HD2, you can start from an install dvd & use 'Restore From Time Machine Backup' with the external as the target. For data files, I'd use TM's interface if possible : try Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions 17. How can I see my backups, or the Backups for a different Mac?
since it seemingly doesn't show as expected.
    http://pondini.org/TM/15.html covers restoring selected items.
Hard Drives do sometimes just stop. no warnings.

  • Front Row on 2nd Gen iMac G5

Does anyone know whether it will be possible to run Front Row on a 2nd Gen iMac G5 using an Apple Remote?
Hos does the Apple Remote work? If it's a Bluetooth device, I can't see any reason why it wouldn't work?
Unless 'Front Row' is a 'hard-wired' ROM application?
I like the look but I bought a 2G recently, which I think is the nuts...to be honest the built in i-Sight is of little interest to me...makes me think of internet cafes...and it's going to make the London Store even more of a foreign exchange student hangout.

It says front row and photo booth are included in the software bundled with the iMac. " More software
In addition, the iMac G5 comes with an incredible bundle of software:
    • iLife ’05, which includes the latest versions of iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie HD, iDVD and GarageBand
    • Front Row
    • Photo Booth
    • iWork ‘05 30-day trial
    • AppleWorks
    • Quicken 2006 for Mac
    • 2006 World Book
    • Nanosaur 2
    • Marble Blast Gold
    • Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac Test Drive "
I dont see why apple wont make that available for purchase for those of us who just bought that last rev Imac in May.

  • Front row and 2nd generation iMac (flat pannel)

I was wondering after just having purchased the iMac G5 only 6 months ago, will front row work with my computer or is Apple just trying to best itself every week or so? Can't find out where to get front row either, anybody able to help?

  • Front Row disappeared? Re-installing Front Row?

My Macbook came with Front Row installed, but I haven't used Front Row in a few months. Today, as I wanted to use it, it wasn't there anymore in my applications folder. When I searched for it in Spotlight, I found two files:
    1. FrontRow.pkg
    2. FrontRowUpdate1.3.pkg
Both are located in the Library\Receipts Folder.
When I tried to reinstall FrontRow using either of these files, the installer starts and leads me through the installation process. However, it doesn't complete the installation citing "errors".
Can anyone explain what might have happened? Is there a way to re-install FrontRow from the OSX CDs or to download it from the website? Thanks for any help.
    Macbook 2.0GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   2GB RAM, 120 GB HD

Yes, Front Row does not live in the Applications folder. Because it lives in the "System" folder, Spotlight won't find it. Spotlight specifically ignores the System folder.
The two files you found, in the "Receipts" folder are indications that Front Row and the Front Row 1.3 update have already been installed. (The Software Updated looks in there to see if you're up-to-date or not.) They are just "receipts" for the previous install, they're not full installer files.
If you had needed to, you can re-install Front Row only by running the "Install Bundled Software" utility on your Mac OS X install disk. There's a "customize" window where you can manually turn on or turn off the additional software, like Front Row, that was included with your Mac.

  • Front Row Disappeared?

I cannot find Front Row on my Macbook Pro but when I press CMD+ESC it starts up. I've used Spotlight with no results, and I checked through the Applications folder and could not find it either.
Nonetheless, when I press CMD+ESC it starts up and it works.
Any ideas of how to recover the app icon? I'm setting up my Macbook to serve as an HTPC also and want to be able to access and use Front Row via my remote.

that's not unusual. Front Row application is just a front end to access Front Row capabilities. command+escape will work even if Front Row.app is completely deleted. if it's really gone you can restore it from backup if you have a backup. if you don't have a backup you can get it off the Snow Leopard install DVd using Pacifist http://www.charlessoft.com/

  • Front Row available to non iMacs

Does anyone know if Front Row will be available to other models, such as our PBs?
Those with Apple displays deserve it especially IMHO.
Hope the answer is yes, and I also hope there will be some hack to use our Bluetooth phones as the remote control.
If we were to buy the Apple remote, we'd need an extra gadget to hook up to a USB port I suppose to work as the receiver, which I'm not very keen to.

Hi, Jorge. I'm pasting a copy of the reply I made to a similar post in the 17" Usage forum, here:
There is an IrDA.menu file in /System/Library/Core Services/Menu Items, but double-clicking on that file doesn't add the IrDA menu item to the menu bar. All other Spotlight results relating to IrDA refer to Help files associated with Classic or with my Canon printer. Taken together, these things would seem to suggest that current PowerBooks are not equipped with infrared technology and that would rule out being able to use the remote. Without being able to use the remote, having the software would be fairly pointless, I reckon, though it would be nice to look at.
BTW, there's no telling whether future PowerBooks will incorporate these iMac features, either.
