Front Row hangs for 5-10 seconds on TV Shows

I recently started trying to use Front Row on my Macbookpro so the kids could watch their TV Shows and Movies.
Annoyingly, when I active FrontRow with the remote it seems to hang for 5-10 seconds when I select TV shows from the menu before showing the list of TV Shows.
It is then very slow and jerky when scrolling up and down the list.
Why would this be? Its making it somewhat unuser friendly.

I wonder if it's related to the antenna issue. Basically, FaceTime has sufficient bandwidth to work until my hand covers up the Wi-Fi antenna on the left side in the wrong way, thus attenuating the 802.11 signal and decreasing the link speed.
I will do some test to verify. It would be nice if you guys can do the same too.

Itunes won't start, iPhoto / Front Row Hang after Leopard install

I upgraded a Intel 2.0MHz 24" iMac this morning. I have never had any upgrade problems before. Last night the iLife 8.1.1 update was installed. Was using iTunes all morning. I got my Leopard CD via Fedex and popped it in. Install went smoothly with no issues. The only thing out of the ordinary during the installation was that I hit cancel when the Time Machine setup opened because I don't have a hard disc ready for it yet.
All seems to be OK except for iTunes, iPhoto, and Front Row.
1. iTunes hangs every time I try to start it and I have to Force Quit. Library is on an external drive that is available and working in Finder.
2. iPhoto will open and show my library, but hangs anytime I chose Edit. Library is on main drive, but I have preferences set not to have iPhoto copy items to the library. I tried rebuilding library but that hangs too.
3. Front Row hangs when I choose music or movies. I can't exit it and have to do a hard shutdown.
This is my first disappointment since switching about six months ago. Any insight on how to fix this would be appreciated. I am fully backed up prior to install, but it was not a bootable backup.

I seem to have located the problem. I disabled my Perian install and iTunes, iPhoto, and Front Row started working. I also reinstalled the MPEG2 support for Quicktime, but I believe Perian is what fixed the issue.

Firefox hangs for a few seconds when trying to pause videos or skip ads on Youtube.

Hello all!
My problem is that YouTube sort of hangs for a few seconds when I try to pause a video or skip ahead or skip ads. The video freezes while the audio keeps playing until, after say 5 seconds, youtube finally does what I tell it to do.
This doesn't happen if the video is embedded on a different website, nor does it happen on Vimeo, Dailymotion etc. I can play YouTube videos perfectly while using Chrome, IE and a Windows 8 Youtube app I have.
After the initial freeze all commands start working very well, at least until I open a new video.
I noticed that a lot of people are having trouble with youtube while using firefox and I've tried a few things:
- uninstalling and reinstalling flash and java
- starting Firefox in safe mode
- using different antivirus software
- reinstalling Firefox
I read that this might be a problem caused by the whole Google being all buddy-buddy with Adobe thing, but I'm skeptical.
So, is there any way to get YouTube to work properly?

Im using firefox 3.6.18 and when i open website it hangs for a few seconds...

im surfing at myanimelist.net and when i loads the pages, it hangs for a few seconds and stop... then hangs again (not responding).. i disable all the plugins but it still the same.. and ive deleted .dat files of plugins suggested by troubleshoot but the same problem still persist... please fix this bug thanks..

The speed of image searching isn't a problem for me. The trouble is, the automatic zoom function is lightning fast and I find it disturbing to the point that it makes me feel very ill.
I very much want a way of suppressing it.

Photoshop hangs for nearly 15 seconds when using Layer > Group Layers or Layer Palette > Group from Layers commands. NOT on creating new group and creating layers and drag-n-dropping layers into group manually in Layer Palette. Got a UI design file with nearly 800 layers and lot of groups. This doesn't occur in smaller files. Using OS X Mavericks, Photoshop CC 2014.2.2, Mid 2014 15-inch Retina Macbook Pro.
I understand that the solution would be just to cut the file into smaller files and design each UI view in a separate file but that would be painful. And it does not seem to be a very hard task to just group layers.

Does the document also have a lot of layer comps?
And can you post that document or send me a copy of it so we can see exactly why it is hanging?

Safari 5.1.7 Bookmarks - adding or changing hangs for a few seconds

Safari 5.1.7 - osx 10.7.4 - MBA
Safari hangs when adding a bookmark or deleting/changing order/moving to new folders etc.
Hangs for about 5 seconds and then completes the task.
It will do the first change just fine, then any further bookmarks adds/changes will hang the browser.
I've tried all the suggested steps, clear cache, reset etc.
Problem comes right back.
Suggestions?

FF 30.0 hangs for a few seconds when opening new window

It did not start with 30.0 but I upgraded in the hope that it would solve the situation.
Every time I open a new window FF hangs for a few seconds. It does not hang opening a new tab!
I tried the steps described in the above topic but they did not work.
if I open the console and type
gSnippetsMap.clear()
the result is
undefined.
If I type
localStorage['snippets-last-update'] = 0
the result is

Short addition:
After the new window is opened I can type a few characters (max 5) into the searchbar. Only from then the hang begins.

After Effects CS6 hangs for about 20 seconds every few minutes or so.

I'm using AE CS6 and every few minutes (anywhere from 5 to 20) it'll just hang for about 20 seconds. The spinning Windows 7 wheel pops up, then when I click AE it goes transparent white and "not responding" pops up in the title bar. I wait about 20 seconds and everything returns to normal. I can't figure out WHAT could be causing this as there's no log or error to really check.
32 gigs of RAM on a Xeon E3 v2 Ivy Bridge chip. 660 Ti Nvidia card. Windows 7 Pro.
It's such a weird vague problem, that I don't know how to troubleshoot it. Multiprocessing of frames is turned off. 24 gigs allocated to AE.

Figured it out, at least so far. I upped the amount of GPU RAM it was allowing AE to use. I swear I did this before, but apparently didn't. So now..no hangs. I'm sure at some point I'll work on a hefty enough project to bottleneck the GPU, but at least I'm good for now.

Front Row Hangs if Itunes isn't Open?

Whenever I try to use Front Row without itunes open it hangs when I go to select an artist. I have to press command, option, ctrl, esc to get out of it. It also does it when trying to view movies. Is this a common problem? What can I do to fix it? Thanks for your help!!!

Interesting... This happens to me too IF I have remote speakers, which are streamed through an Airport, selected. If I open iTunes first, no problem, but if not, then it hangs up. The only solution I've found to open iTunes before activating front row.

Front Row Hangs

I wondered if anyone else had this problem:
I have a new iMac, and front row seems to hang up when I try to access my music. It takes 30 seconds to 1 minute to escape from the hang, and then it functions, albeit with hesitation. It did this previously and the issue was resolved once I updated, but when I reinstalled the OS the problem returned inexplicably. Any suggestions?

Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended hangs for about 12 seconds ... please help!

I'm using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended and have the following problem:
I can open PDF documents just fine. But after about 3-4 seconds the program hangs / freezes for about 12 seconds. I've tried everything (defined a non-network printer as default printer, deactivated unecessary fonts with a font manager, deactivated most of the plugins from Adobe Acrobat etc.)... nothing helps to solve this issue.
Can anybody give me a hint or have a solution for this ???

I have a Phaser 7500, and it works fine with ID, PS, AI, and Acrobat Reader 9.5
But crashes with Acrobat Pro 9.5 and Lightroom 3.6

T410 hangs for a few seconds

My T410 hangs for ~2 seconds at random intervals from 3 minutes to 30 minutes.
Cursor freezes whether using wired or wireless mouse.
Any ideas of where to start my problem solving?

I would suspect power manager, cpu throttling. Does it happen when using "maximum performance"? Does it happen more often when on battery power?
There are alot of things which cause cause a momentary pause, a poor behaving device driver, an application which is taking too much processor time at too high a priority (again usually device drivers). If this happens with any predictable frequency it may be useful to have your task manager loaded and see what applications/services are taking system time up.

Firefox 4 randomly hangs for a few seconds

When im browsing, Firefox 4 randomly hangs for ~10 seconds saying its "Not Responding", then it returns to normal.
I dont seem to see a pattern on when it hangs, sometimes its when i open new pages, sometimes im just scrolling, sometimes i'm not doing anything...
It didnt seem to happen before i updated to FFx 4
My best guess is it happens when its trying to "Sync"?
It's not that bad, but it gets annoying after a while.

It is also possible that Firefox is doing maintenance to places.sqlite (bookmarks and history). If you keep a large history or have a lot of bookmarks then you can check that out as well. Also make sure that security (anti-virus) software isn't blocking access to files in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder].

During normal operation (fresh install, no plugins) periodically and unpredictably hangs for about 15 seconds before continuing.

Program hangs for a number of seconds before continuing. All operations within the window are arrested.
Attempted reinstall of Firefox 6.0, and also disabled all plugins. Reenabled plugins (shown in info. below). Attempted rebooting.

Using Front Row IR for Logitech infrared mouse?

Hi,
my mighty mouse felt, opened up and died. The wheel has gone for good (tried to clean it but this time no luck). So I have to resort to my old IR logitech mouse. Since to use the IR dongle is pretty annoying, is there any chance to connect it to the in-built IR used by Front Row? Thanks in advance.

Appears you have no choice if you want your computer IR repaired properly. If your computer is still under the 1 year warranty and/or you have AppleCare, you can always request for a replacement until your computer is repaired.
