Front Row slideshow Help!

Is there any way to change the default '3 seconds' used for Front Row slideshows? I want to do this without specifically creating a slideshow in iPhoto to change the slide time.
As a related matter, can the default slideshow settings be changed for iPhoto also?
My Mom has an iMac and I'd like her to be able to use Front Row to view her iPhoto pics. But 3 seconds is way too fast for her sight, so I need to figure out a fix for this!
Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Front Row, slideshow & music

While using Front Row to play a slideshow, the same song always plays. I can't find any way to set the music to the slideshow. Can anyone help on this problem?

    Hi Ray,
In iPhoto, click on slide show. On the bottom bar you´ll see an icon for iTunes which lets you set the music.

  • Front Row Slideshow Music Problem

    Hello:
I have been unable to change the Photo Slideshow music in Front Row. I go into iPhoto, select SlideShow and select my music, but it does not seem to save it to Front Row. I've even tried making my selections as "default" but it doesn't work.
I've tried repairing permissions on my disk, and there do seem to be problems with Front Row. However, no matter how many times I repair, the permissions still persist. Log file below
Can anyone offer any tips to a newbie (recently switched from a PC.)
    Thanks,
    Dan

Thanks; that's a relief, though the permissions that are referenced in the thread you pointed out (that can be safely ignored) seem to me mostly related to iPhoto Access and not Front Row (I seem to have both Front Row and iPhoto permission problems.)
So, can anyone offer any suggestions on how to change my music in Front Row's Slide Show?

  • Problem with front row, please help!

I got a year old MBP 15" which I updated to leopard, and it works generally fine, except for the fact that when using front row and leaving it playing music for about 5 minutes idle, it freezes, goes to blank screen, but still plays the playlist it was set on, but when I use the remote control, or press keys, it keeps frozen, the only way to quit is to force power off.
Please help me, as I really like Front Row and my MBP is my hub for playing music in reunions.
    Thanks in advance

I have (hopefully) found a solution to my part of this problem. I was getting the ClassCastExceptions on any page with a <jbo:row> tag after doing a failed DML action. I have tested this with the delete event. (btw, I am using jdev9.0.3.3 w/ BC4J/JSP) Before what I was doing was this:
    <% try { %>
    <jbo:Row id="delrow" datasource="ds" rowkeyparam="jboRowKey" action="Delete" />
    <% } catch (JboException jboEx) { %>
    do something
    <% } catch (Exception ex) { %>
    uh-oh, this is bad
    <% } %>
If I removed the try/catch block everything worked fine. Unfortunatlely, I need to try/catch block here. To work around the problem I changed the code to this:
    <% Row rowDelete = ds.getRowFromKey(params.getParameter("jboRowKey")); %>
    <% try { %>
    <%
    rowDelete.remove();
    %>
    <% } catch (JboException jboEx) { %>
    do something
    <% } catch (Exception ex) { %>
    uh-oh, this is bad
    <% } %>
The second bit of code does the same thing (but it doesn't use a bean like I think <jbo:Row> does) and it doesn't cause the ClassCastError on subsequent errors.
I really hope this helps someone else because it took me forever to get a workaround!

  • Front Row slideshows and purchased music

When i create a slideshow in Iphoto and add music to it from a purchased song/protected song it plays the slideshow in Iphoto with the music. However if I then try to play the slideshow from Front Row it will play the slideshow but without the music. If I substitute the song with a non purchased song it plays fine from front row. Is there a problem playing slideshows from Front Row using a Purchased Song as the background music?

I had the exact same problem before but I fixed my problem through iphoto and it worked on my front row photo gallery; all you have to do is open iphoto, click the play button (at the bottom left corner), you will find a slideshow window, select the music tab at the top, choose sample music or itunes (your music library) or garageband, choose a track and click *_save settings_* to make the background music work in front row. Please try my experience and good luck.
    Cheers.

  • Front Row Slideshow "Tearing"

I updated my Front Row as per Software Update. Since the update I have had a video "tearing" effect during slideshow transitions. Lines appear in the pictures as it transitions from one photo to the next. It is a really sloppy update. Is there a way to downgrade to the previous version? Or does anyone know of a fix due out?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
I'm not seeing this same problem on my MacBook. I can try on a 20" 2.4GHz iMac at work on Monday. This problem would seem to be specific to your Mac, the update may have revealed a previously unknown problem. Do you see the same or similar problem if you run a slideshow inside iPhoto? What about if you use the Preview application with a couple of pictures? Did you also update QuickTime? Which version of iPhoto do you have? (Is it version 6 from iLife '06 or version 7 from iLife '08? Is it also up-to-date?)

  • Front Row Music Help

The simple problem is, when I open Front Row it says that the track cannot be played. This only happens with some songs i.e. Dragonforce but works perfectly with others i.e. Muse.
Just for the record I have just moved over from a PC and my iTunes songs with it.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Front Row is reading your iTunes library. Do the songs you're having trouble with play fine directly in iTunes?

  • Front Row SlideShow - best option?

I am creating a slideshow and am using FR. I chose FR instead of an iPhoto slideshow as I needed to put words along w/ the photo's. I also have it set to music. Two questions: is this really the best way for me to do this - my MBPro will be hooked up to a projector where the project will be projected onto a screen.
Second, I created the project on my iMac Intel and need to get it into the MBPro...it is 21MB. Best way to do this?
    Thanks in advance! Karen

    Hi Karen,
I don't have enough practical experience using FR to answer your first question. But as to the second question from your desktop press Command + K and then select browse from the button at the bottom. Then what you will need to do is use connect as and use your username and password you use on the imac. Then just navigate to the folder on your imac with the file and drag and drop to desktop or a folder you have created for it. Hope this helps.

  • Front Row Blacking Out?!?!?!?!?!

when i got into front row to watch a music video it will go black for a bit and go to the video and the video will play and go black agian and the video will play and so on and its not the video i know its front row anyone help me?
    -cody

I watch trailers on Front Row, when i enter the main trailers area, the screen goes blank and my "sleep" light flashes, if i click any button on the remote it returns to the menu. Then while watching trailers it will blank out for a couple seconds quite regularly ( minimum 5 times each trailer). Very annoying!

  • Ugh. help me if you can!  Proplem w/  front-row.  no music on slideshow

forgive me if this is a small problem that I should be able to resolve on my own.
When using Front Row to access a slideshow, the music that I added to the show doesn't play! Yet, when I launch the show from iPhoto, it plays. This happens on only one particular slideshow. ..I did delete the "plist" for iPhoto, but this didn't fix it (this was a sort of "fix all" tip that I found using the help menu.)
Any suggestions? Front Row is pretty cool - I'd hate to not be able to use it.
    Thanks in advance.

Yes, thank you, i realised that headphones with noise canceling are something i must get....but, i cant belive that the same headphones with touch and nano produce such dramatic different experience...i can hardly belive that nano has better what..sound procesor, amplifier than touch...it shouldent be that way.
i am thinking it must have something to do with ..say latest regulations regarding volume imput in some countries or what, and i thought that it must be the program that cansels it..or so..since i have wireless on this thing.

  • Can't play music from shared slideshow using Front Row (or iPhoto)

Can anyone play a shared slideshow and have the music from that shared slideshow play in Front Row?
I can't get the sound to come through either in iPhoto or Front Row.
It seems to me that you should be able to do this.
    1. We can play shared music.
    2. We can play shared photos and slideshows
    3. But I can't play shared slideshows with the selected music from that shared slideshow..........
    Anyone.... ?
I don't think this is possible at this time but would like to know for sure if anyone else can do this?

    Heya Joseph,
Yes you can play shared music in front row.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.4/en/mh1655.html
Now as far as a slideshow I would think so as well as the authorization for that music comes from iTunes to iPhoto.
    Heya Justin,
Remove the following files to the trash (do not empty until you test for function):
    ~/library/caches
    ~/library/preferences/com.apple.itunes.plist
    ~/library/preferences/com.apple.frontrow.plist
    ~/library/preferences/com.apple.iphoto.plist
    - Open iPhoto - then quit
    - Open iTunes - then quit
    - Repair your permissions - > http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=DiskUtility/10.5/en/duh17.html
    - Restart your computer again
    - Test and see how its working
    Hope that helps!

  • Selecting a specific Slideshow from iPhoto to view in Front Row

Hello! Can anybody help me to get Front Row to play an individual Slideshow, please? The Help that Apple provides for using Front Row is very basic, and I've searched for an answer on these forums without any luck.
When I open Front Row and navigate to Photos>Shared Photos>My Photos I then get a list of just the main headings in my iPhoto library. But each of these headings has individual grouped selections of photos. These are what I want to access, but they aren't accessible from Front Row. For example, if I select Slideshows, I have 36 of these, but Front Row just plays them all together as one slideshow. I don't want this - I want to select one at a time of course.
Surely there must be a way of doing this? I cannot believe that Apple didn't think of this when they created Front Row, but the instructions for using the program in Mac Help are very brief. One other thing, I can only use Front Row to access my iPhoto library if I have iPhoto running. This seems very poor to me - the library is on the same hard drive - I am not accessing anybody else's library. Again, there is nothing in the Mac Help for Front Row which tells you you must have iPhoto open to view photos in Front Row.
I do hope somebody can help me, because I especially bought my 27" iMac to view my photos, and being unable to select slideshows, or even subfolders for that matter, is most frustrating.
    Thank you,
    Bruce

If anybody has stumbled across this thread, having a similar problem to mine, you might be interested in how things finally turned out.
Eventually I contacted Apple technical support. They spent 90 minutes (yes, at 5p a minute) trying to fix it. They were very helpful, and suggested just about every blessed thing you might think of including dragging the iPhoto library out onto the desktop, creating a new one, dragging the files back in, repairing permissions with Disk Utility - one thing after another. Nothing worked - Front Row stubbornly refused to recognise my iPhoto library.
In the end what we did was to drag the iPhoto library out (we tried that before, but this went a different route) and put it in folder in the Pictures folder. I gave the folder a name just to identify it. Then I Option-clicked the iPhoto application program (not the library!) and it asked me if I wanted to create a new library, which I did, so I let it create a new one back in the Pictures folder (this was why I moved the original one out of the way).
So this opened, and of course was blank. So I went back to the Pictures folder in the Finder and opened the folder in which I hid the original iPhoto library. I Option-clicked this library and selected Show Package Contents. So now all the original files, folders and images were revealed. The only folder I needed now was one called Originals. I dragged this folder straight into the big empty window of my open iPhoto application, and iPhoto began to import all my original photos into the new copy of iPhoto.
Now I have all my photos back, but unfortunately all my albums and slideshows are lost. But one good thing is in the main photos window, with View set to Event Titles, and Sort set to Dates, everything is clearly divided back into event and date order. I can easily select each group of photos which are nicely divided up for me, and create new folders, named with subjects or events, and then create new slideshows from them.
OK it will take me a little while to get it back to how it was, but not quite the disaster it might have been if iPhoto had not been able to sort everything out from the metadata, into date order.
I am grateful to Paul Horan, senior technical support advisor at Apple Care, who called me back with what was admittedly a drastic solution, after trying a few fixes himself.
    Hope this help someone else!

  • Photo albums in front row help

    Hi,
I am having trouble getting my photo albums to play via front row. I have numerous albums but when i go into them in front row, it just shows up random photos from the album and roll they came from, with none of the album pages showing. The photo roll and the name of the albums is the same ie: roll called sweden, album called sweden, would that be causing a problem, ie: iphoto unsure of which photos to show? They play fine in iphoto, with all of the album pages showing, but not in front row.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am getting a little frusterated!!
    Thanks,
    Mel

    Heya Brendt,
Is the video within iTunes or just in your movies folder?
If it is not iTunes then ignore the "itunes" portion below.
Remove the following files to the trash (do not empty until you test for function):
    ~/library/caches
    ~/library/preferences/com.apple.itunes.plist
    ~/library/preferences/com.apple.frontrow.plist

  • Front Row 2.0; no music during slideshow?

Would I be right in thinking that Front Row 2.0 has removed the option of playing iTunes Music whilst viewing an iPhoto slide show?

So I just have the same problem? Is thier anyone who has emailed Apple to see if they know how to fix this?
I play a slideshow in iPhoto and all the iTunes that I have CHECKED and are in that playlist will play.
However - in Front Row the same slide show that I created in iPhoto will not play any music. For some reason it used to play only ONE of the songs - which was the 1st song in the play list - and then it would repeat it. So me being me.. stubborn..I kept trying to get it to play all the songs in the playlist (by friggin with iTunes setting and iPhoto settings) and NOW I have no music what-so-ever, not even the sample music.
Any one have any ideas? This really bugs me, and yep - I know that I can simply play the show in iPhoto - but man it is nice to use that remote and have things simply work..
    Anyone?
    Thanks!
    Jared

  • IPhoto Slideshow music settings/Front Row

I recently purchase a Mac Mini to use as a media center PC. I have imported photo's into iPhoto and configured slide shows with appropriate music ... in iPhoto all these settings work fine. When I access these photo's via Front Row
however, each of the slide shows plays with Minuet in G and my iPhoto music settings are ignored. any thoughts would be most welcome on how to have my iPhoto slide show music recognized with Front Row.
    Thanks,
    Paul

Well I may have found my answer ... If I run slideshows in Front Row from
Photos/Events I have the Minuet in G problem ... if I create albums in iPhoto and run the Event from within an album, the music selected in this album slideshow holds in Front Row ... at any rate it works for me!
    Paul
