Front Row unable to read from itunes library
ok, i have been trying to figure this out but it seems that front row cant read from my itunes library.
I have tried closing itunes and it doesnt do anything. I get the error that i must add stuff to itunes. any ideas?

I found a workaround, but it's quite painful to use it if you have, like me, a lot of different folders.
In fact, the best solution is to clean up your iPhoto Library by running iPhoto from the Dock while holding Alt. You can create a fresh new library and start all over again.
Then, try to import only ONE folder at a time. Eventually, you will have to repeat that as many times as needed. But, at least, iPhoto should still be working fine (you can organize your folders just as you would have done before), and you should start seeing some folders in Front Row.
Note that iTunes works exactly the same way: if you want to group some playlists within a folder, Front Row won't be able to show them!

new2appletv, I think you missed roestuff's point. They were wanting to BUY a HD movie -- not copy it.
It's frustrating that we can live in a complete HD environment with a Mac Mini, UNTIL we start downloading from iTunes. The alternative to downloading from iTunes, is to buy the DVD or Blu-Ray, both of which are no less "copyable", than the output from the Mac Mini. As all movie/music pirates have shown over the years -- where there's a will, there's a way.
I share the frustration. I have an XServe, a Mac Pro & 3 Mini's running a home theater & TV network around my house. I can happily watch, AND RECORD, HD content from TV stations. I'm not into pirating -- it is all for my own use. Because of alleged "abuse" by some users, I can only expand to 1 further Mac on my network due to the 5 machine limit imposed by iTunes. My frustration is that the content doesn't even leave my house (except for when it is on my iPhone).
Apple need to learn to negotiate better, particularly if they want to be at the centre of a digital world. I can buy a Tivo for the same price as a Mac Mini, and a Tivo doesn't have all of the restrictions placed on it that the Macs do. I feel sometimes that Apple try to prove that they are the Volvo drivers of an online world -- but uncertain what they are trying to achieve. -

Freeing Up Space on The Hard Drive
1. See Lion/Mountain Lion/Mavericks' Storage Display.
2. You can remove data from your Home folder except for the /Home/Library/ folder.
3. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on freeing up space on your hard drive.
4. Also see Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk.
5. See Where did my Disk Space go?.
6. See The Storage Display.
You must Empty the Trash in order to recover the space they occupied on the hard drive.
You should consider replacing the drive with a larger one. Check out OWC for drives, tutorials, and toolkits.
Try using OmniDiskSweeper 1.8 or GrandPerspective to search your drive for large files and where they are located. -
Deleting apps from iTunes Library and IOS Devices at once.

I tend to delete all unneeded apps from iTunes library on my Mac, because when I delete them from there, it just take one syncing session to deleted them from all my other devices. But recently I noticed that this way is no longer helpful, now I have to delete each app on my iPhone, iPad and Mac manually. So if anyone can help me to make iTunes recur to the previous pehevior, please replay ASAP.
Thanks.I have the same problem! I recently decided to clean up my devices. The first thing that came to my mind was to delete an App from iTunes, sync and get rid of it on all other devices. I was surprised that it stays on iDevices evem after you delete it from iTunes. I don't want it this way. DOes anyone know of a trick that can allow me delete an app just once?
Before if you delete an App from iTunes and try to Sync an iPhone or an iPad with it, you would see a window telling you that there are items on your iphone that are not present in iTunes - do you want to copy them? Now it just "syncs" and leaves the Apps untouched. What kind of synchronization is this? -
Deleting Songs From iTunes Library...and Keeping Them On Your iPod
Will this process allow me to delete songs from my iTunes library, but keep them on my iPod?
1. When iPod is plugged in, check "Only Sync Checked Items" in iTunes
2. Delete items from iTunes library.
3. Add new items to iTunes library.
4. Sync iPod.
It should keep the songs I deleted from iTunes on my iPod, right?
If you need me to be any clearer, please ask.
EDIT: If this will not work, is there another way to do this? The songs I have are taking up a lot of room on my computer.Any auto sync method you use will delete the songs from the iPod if you delete them from iTunes.
You can delete songs from your iTunes/computer hard drive after transferring them to the iPod, and for this you need to set your iPod to manage the songs manually.
However, this is an extremely risky option because when (and not if) there comes a time to restore your iPod, which is a very common fix for iPod problems, then all the music would be erased. If you no longer have the music in iTunes (or any other back up), then all that music would be lost. -

You must enable iTunes Match on the new computer. The best way to accomplish what you want to do is to create a new, empty library by launching iTunes while holding down the Option key (Shift on Windows) and choosing "new library." Do not let iTunes scan for new content, but do enable iTunes Match on the empty library. Once the scan is finished you may delete tracks from the cloud. How do I delete movies from iTunes library? I have moved them to the iCloud and now only seem to have the option to hide the icon in iCloud. I am sure I chose poorly at the 'keep file' window. Please help. My Brain hurts… 18 plus movies need to go…. Thank you.
Instead of removing the music from the cloud or the iTunes library why not shuffle your music using a Smart Playlist which excludes the holiday music, or tracks that are not checked. For example, use this very simple Smart Playlist:

None of my iDevices can read my iTunes library after about 30 minutes. My iDevices lose connection to my library and I have to do one of the three following things in iTunes to regain connectivity: 1. Restart iTunes 2: Stop / Start Home Services 3: Start playing a song.

I updated to iOS 5.1.1 on iPad2 today, watched a movie and then about 20 minutes into a 2nd movie I lost connection (Sharing tab in Video app disappeared and has not come back.) Please help! I have a new iPhone. Have some songs from iTunes library on iPad and only a few transferred to new phone when synced. Tried deleting songs from iPad and they went to iCloud. So now I have songs in iCloud on iPad and some songs on iPhone. Help! I want ALL iTunes library on new phone.
I hope I'm not too confusing--to clarify: I have iTunes library on the computer. When I got the iPad, most of them transferred to that. I read somewhere on here how to delete those songs and they are now 500+ songs in iCloud...I think. Tried putting the iTunes library onto new iPhone 5s a few days ago and only 149 out of 1100 songs transferred. HOw can I get my whole library from the computer to my new phone? I don't need them on my iPad.

is it possible to generate a playlist lets call it, that is like a shuffle playlist but able to fill an ipod? where would i find the command like, " fill ipod randomly from itunes library"? wouldn't it be great !! just hook up the pod and have it filled with random songs from your library. every day you could have a new playlist, but a really big and different one.

Limit it to 27.5GB at Random.
Also, set it to My rating is not One Star.
Rate songs you do not want on the iPod to One star.
Connect the iPod & select it as the Source.
Go to the Music tab and set to Sync only this playlist.
To change the music, select this playlist in iTunes.
Select all songs and press Delete. It will fill up again at random. -
Front Row refusing to play my iTunes store purchases!
This never happened before, but when I go to play songs on Front Row which I purchased from the store, it says my computer isn't authorised and to enable it by going to iTunes, clicking authorise and signing in to my account. I've done this several times, and even whilst clicking onto every song I purchased.
What makes it stranger, is if I open iTunes, start playing a song I purchased and then go to front row whilst it's still playing, and click 'now playing', it shows the song and artwork and the song continues playing as normal. Now that I'm in front row, if I browse to that song and try to play it, it comes up with that message.

You may see my previous posts. I had the self same problem until I installed 10.4.9, but that also included the Front Row 1.3 update. Did you include that in your update? That may be the solution as my problem has now been resolved. Also if you look up and down this forum there are a number of threads with solutions such as deleting the .plist files. It seemed to work for others, but not for me.

I'm getting a message that reads 'The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation." Why is this? And how can I fix it? I'm worried that I'm going to lose my entire library because of this.
A belated reply, as the problems itunes has have discouraged me from using it much. If you uncheck the "read only" box, it doesn't stay that way! Next time you use it, the box comes up checked.
I'm still having that problem, even when I open iTunes as administrator.
I've yet to see the answer to this problem. I use itunes mostly to download audiobooks, and I'm ready to download more, and want to save them!
