Fronta panel audio connections on KM4M

I got a pc case, and the cables for the front panel audio are: left , right , mic, and ground. The front panel works fine, but the rear ports dont.
What should i do to make it work?
Maybe conect left in with left out and right in with right out?

There must be a return from fron panel audio for rear ports to work
What i did was to solder a piece of solid wire on the jumper, and simply plug in the front panel audio left and right in that wire and it works FINE

Front Panel Audio connection help needed

I own an MSI 790GX-G65 with Realtek HD audio, installed in an NZXT Tempest case.
Using the AC-97 plug from the case into the MB JAUD1 connection I get front panel headphone audio, but no mic input or automatic detection from the Realtek manager.
In short: Which plug(s) do I use on the MB socket JAUD1? I will detail my NZXT front panel connections.

Ok. I checked and confirmed... I DID use HD Audio in JAUD1. I only thought I was using AC97... The problem still is:
Front Panel Headphones: Okay.
Front Panel Mic: Not detected at all.
Audio driver version is 6.0.1.6316
Audio Controller HD Audio
Audio Codec: ALC889
DX11
Window 7

P35 Neo2 front panel audio connections

Appologies if this has been covered elsewhere [I did search honest ]
I'm having trouble getting the case front headphone jack to work with my MSI P35 Neo2 motherboard. The connections from the case are;-
Speaker Right
Speaker Left
Speaker Right Rtn
Speaker Left Rtn
Mic IN
Mic Bias
Gnd
...and the motherboard JAUD1 connections are-
1 Mic-L
2 Gnd
3 Mic-R
4 Presence#
5 Line Out R
6 Mic-JD
7 Front JD
8 NC
9 Line Out L
10 Line Out JD
Since the manual states these conections are compliant with the Intel front Panel and seems to mention HD audio, am I wasting my time? Obviously I'd like the rear speakers to be disabled when I connect the headphones at the front.
Any clues?

Yes I did have a dig around with this because it senses when additional speakers etc are connect at the back. I cannot get the audio manager to acknowledge there is a front connect (with or without anything connected)

you might wanna try shorting pin 2 and pin 4 with a jumper. Line L to Port 1 L ; Line R to Port 1 R; so as the EAR.

It seems its not available in your region (australia). You can call Creative Labs customer service to see if you can buy the SB X-Fi I/O upgrade kit. But, to give you an idea how much it costs, click on the US weblink below. You can maybe do a wide search on the internet to see if it's available in your area, or try eBay too.

What case do you have? I simply got me an inexpensive case for my last upgrade since I also needed front panel USB 3 and up to date card reader in addition to the HD audio. My case was only $10 more (free shipping at time of purchase ) than the front panel module I needed so I got the new case you see in my signature instead.

Hello to everybody.
Many pc chassis provide two audio connectors on the front side, usually for the headphones with microphone.
I need to know if I can connect the chassis-mounted front panel audio I/O module to the Sound Blaster X-Fi Extreme Music.
I saw that the X-Fi Extreme Music has the internal connector (named AD_EXT) to connect . Is there a pin mapping of the AD_EXT connector? Is it possible to connect the chassis-mounted front panel I/O module cable to the proper pin of the AD_EXT connector?

Unfortunatelly I actually haven't got a X-Fi card, because I need to know if I can connect the chassis-mounted front panel audio I/O module to the card before buying it.
For this reason I don't know what is the J you're talking about. Is it an internal connector avaiable in the X-Fi Extreme Music card? Can I use this J to connect the chassis-mounted front panel audio I/O module to the card?

I have a K8NGM2-FID based pc running XP Prof. I have a Chieftec LCX-01B-B-SL case with front panel audio. This panel is compatible with AC'97 standard. PIN Assigment of the internal Frontpanel connectors for Audio is below described:
I red in manual of my mobo:
"The JAUD1 front panel audio connector allows you to connect to the front panel audio and is compliant with Intel® Front Panel I/O Connectivity Design Guide."
I red Front Panel I/O Connectivity Design Guide (downloaded from intel site) and:
"2.3.3 Audio Design Considerations
Front panel audio design in conjunction with motherboard audio header design is dependant upon the type of audio CODEC being used on the motherboard. In the past, AC97 Integrated Audio CODECs were prevalent. With the introduction of Intel High Definition Audio, many new motherboard designs are switching over to High Definition (HD) audio CODECs. Designersshould note that AC’97 and Intel High Definition Audio front panel motherboards and I/O cardsimplementations are different and may not be directly compatible or interchangeable
CAUTION
It is strongly recommended that motherboard designers only use Intel® HD Audio analog front panel dongles with the Intel® HD Audio analog front panel header to insure that the jack detection and dynamic re-tasking capability is preserved. Passive AC’97 analog front panel dongles (ones which leave the 5V Analog pin-7 line unconnected on the dongle) may be used with the Intel® HD Audio analog front panel header. The rear panel audio output jacks are disabled when headphones are plugged in. If these jumpers are not installed, the rear panel line out connector will be inoperative and microphone input pins 1 and 3 will be left floating, which could lead to elevated back panel microphone noise and cross talk.
NOTE
Motherboards that have the foot print for a front panel header, but depopulate the front panel audio header must have 0 ohm resistors as options to connect the FP_OUT and FP_RETURN signals. These resistors must be installed when the header is depopulated to insure audio is routed
to the back panel."
Can I connect this front panel audio to front Panel Audio Connector (JAUD1) of K8NGM2-FID (Realtek High Definition Audio)? Will it be work correctly?

No I don't think it will, I had the same problem with my Coolermaster Centurion case, the pin out configs are different. I just left it disconnected, and didn't worry about it

I am trying to connect the front panel Audio(Headphone Jack and Mic) I front panel wires are labeled R-In, R-Out, L-In, L-Out, Mic Bias and Mic and GND.The MBconnectors are labeled port 1L, GND, Port 1R, Presence #, Port 2R, Sense1_Return, Sense_Send, Key, Port 2L, Sense2_Return.
Can this be done?

I can't seem to find any decent documentation, what i need to do is connect the front panel audio rack that's at the bottom of my case to my audigy 2 ZS(just the regular one, not gamer or any of those). The only two things that need to be connected are the headphone jack and the mic jack. I need to know where i pluge them in though.

Front panel audio jack is not working on K9N Neo V2

My front panel audio jack is not working on K9N Neo V2. I check the JAUD1 cable and it appears to be connected to the front panel audio jack. My soundcard driver cannot detect any gadgets when I plug it in the front panel. My audio drivers and BIOS are up to date. Is there any known solution to this? My computer is only a few months old and I have not tried the front audio jack until recently. I'm on Vista home premium btw.
Also, I've got another problem, my processor is AMD 64x2 4400+ overclocked to 2.63Ghz. I've been using that clock value ever since I built this computer and stress tested the processor and found that it would not cause any problems like hanging or overheating. However, I recently decided the need for AMD's Cool & Quiet technology and enabled it. It caused BSODs every few days or per week that didn't happen before. I tried it with the default clock value and it still causes BSODs. Can someone help me?

Need help for front pannel audio connection

Hi everyone,
I've a msi p4m800 board. Its doing good but i want to connect the front pannel audio connection but am a beginner and don't really know about the pin assignment.
There are 5 small cables for audio marked as:
spkL
spkR
Mic
Mic power
Gnd.
I know to connect these in 10 pin JAUD1 slot but how? Am much confused and I really want to connect front pannel audio.
ps: is there any possibility to damange the system if i connect these pins wrongly?

Please refer to your manual, there should be a page to teach you on how to connect the front panel audio.

MSI P965 Platinum - Front Panel Audio u/s

Finally after managing to get XP Pro SP1 CD to install, I have a stable system, and thanks to those whom freely gave advice.
But we hit the next issue with this motherboard, the front panel audio.
Firstly the Realtek detection software doesn't detect anything plugged into the front panel.
Connected the cables as follows from my Coolermaster Stacker case;
mobo = case wires/colour
pin1 aud-mic = mic-in - yellow
pin2 aug-gnd = gnd - black
pin3 aud-mc-bas = mic-pwr - red
pin4 aud-vcc = empty
pin5 aud-fpout-R = R out - green
pin6 aud-ret-R = R ret - green
pin7 hp-on = empty
pin8 key
pin9 aud-fpout-L = L out - white
pin0 aud-ret-L = L ret - white
The above pin out gives nothing at all, but audio from rear ports on the computer motherboard is fine.
I also tried the following,
where the microphone wires were left disconnected, therefore just the speakers plugged into the front panel audio header

pin5 aud-fpout-R = R out - green

The above still gave me no audio out from the front panel.
Intrestingly if I leave the front panel audio header blank, I still get rear audio fine, where I would have expected to have put jumpers across the L and R outputs as is the norm.
I have removed the front panel from the computer to ensure that the wires terminate OK, and have not been pulled out/off.
Have I plugged in the wires correctly?
Is there some hidden setting that I have missed, I admit that I do not like the Realtek audio software?
I cannot find any way to boost the microphone input since Realtek audio software has been installed.
One day case/mobo manufactures will use a standard for the front panel headers and front panel audio headers, and we will have a simple single plug to insert, rather than a group of single fiddly connectors that have to be attached to a header that was at the last minute attached to the motherboard as far away from the front of the case, and in the darkest most fiddle corner.
Oh well......

AaronYuri - you're are so right there my friend. I just pity Joe User whom might attempt such a move themselves.
In the end my entire issue was software related, and that has to be blamed on Realteks software, far too many options approached from far too many different angles. Audio is really simple, plug your cables in, and it should just work, certainly in the simple case of 2-1 speakers and a microphone. Why exactly it took a couple of hours to figure out how to get the front panel microphone to be seen in the first place, let alone any signal, is beyond me.
So my cables were all connected correctly as per the MSI manual, confirmed by my Abit manual and other post here and on other forums.
In the Realtek MSI audio software, on the I/O Audio tab, connector settings, I had to select 'disable front panel jack detection' and 'mute rear panel output when front headphones plugged in'. The other option here 'enable auto pop up...' is unchecked.
After this the Realtek software mentioned something about a new profile had been set up?
I then went to Windows Control Panel, Sounds and Audio devices, and selected the voice tab, on this page I selected 'mic IN at front panel [pink]' from the drop down list for Voice Recording'. Proceeded to 'test hardware' and the microphone is now working. This option to select the input in the drop down list was not available before.
All a bit of POKE and HOPE.
But we seem to be there.
