Frontend Server Name is Exposed during Lyncdiscover Query

Hi,
Pls see Yellow Text in below image, my FE Name is Exposed on Internet during LyncDiscover.domainname.com
We are running Lync 2013 Standard Single Server Setup. My Pool Name is same as FrontEnd Server FQDN.
I only want to expose webext.domainname.com FQDN, wondering where is the issue?
Best Regards, Ranjit Singh

Hi Ranjit Singh,
The internal website is published on ports 80/443, while the external site is published on 8080/4443. It is recommend to use a reverse proxy server, such as TMG 2010 or IIS ARR, to publish the
external website and redirect 80/443 from the web to the FE server over 8080/4443.
If you do not use a reverse proxy, this can cause external Lync users unable to access the web services, such as Address Book, Conferencing URL, etc.
Best regards,
Eric

  • Server Names exposed while accessing SAP Portal

We are using FireFox browser to access the SAP Portal application. We are running SAP EnterPrise Portal on NW 7.01. Our Production SAP portal is exposed to
    internet.
After the users log into the system, using Firefox browser, the server name is seen in the status bar of the
browser. This is a security threat, as the server names are exposed.
This issue is not there if we access the sameusing Internet explorer.

    Abdul,
    See this:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/b6/8b9aea8d7c11d5bdd8006094191908/frameset.htm
The suspect is "User Mapping Type". It is probably set to "admin", instead of "admin, user". That is why you do not see the system when logged in as one of the users.
Also make sure users have permissions in PCD to the system.
If does not help, check other suspect as SAP help suggests:
The selected principal does not have end-user permissions for the system.
The system's logon method does not require any user mapping data for the system (such as "SAPLogonTicket" for a system that is not the SAP reference system).
The system's user mapping type is not set correctly or not set at all.
There is no system alias defined for the system.
There is no system landscape registered, for example, the one contained in Enterprise Portal.

  • Server Name Selection

    Dear Experts,
SAP B1 asks Server Name every time during login in DB. I am using SAP B1 8.8.
My point is why SAP asks Server Name every login time.
Any help will be appreciated & be very thankful.
    Regards,
    Ravi

    Hi Gordon,
The settings will not be apply in case if I am using Server for that? Actually I change font settings on server but when I login again it is not taking effect and change in earlier settings.
I mean if I use Server for settings on thin clients or on Server itself  the settings should be applied for the same.

  • SQL server query without indicating server name

I am writing a query  in SSIS and  utilize servername everytime  but it drags every time
I am authorized to  work in Development area and can indicate deve  server
But   Senior  officer ask me  not to use Server name  and when  package goes to  production   query  can execute without  indicate  server name any idea
    thank you very much.

I think you're using linked server in your queries based on your description.
While working in SSIS you dont need linked server. You'll just add connection manager to connect to your dev server and database and then use it for your tasks. Inside your query you will just reference objects using schemaname.objectname convention.
You will make servername and database name configurable by adding them as configurations (parameters in SSIS 2012 if you use project deployment). Then you will be able to pass values for configurations from outside based on variety of options like through
XML file, from SQLServer table, Environment variables etc

  • Query server name where a BLS tran is executed ?

    Hi all,
is there a possibility to query the server name where a BLS transaction is executed from within the transaction?
Use: The transaction should be able to decide if called on a test server or in production. I am looking for a logic that lets the tran know without someone having to change transaction or local properties when deploying the tran to production.
    Regards
    Michael

    Udayan,
imagine the following situation: a BLS collects data, creates a file and FTPs the file to a server. The test on the test xMII system was ok. Now you want to deploy the BLS to the xMII production server. However, the FTP target is different in Test and Production. How would you manage it?
I am looking for a solution where I do not have to change BLS properties before deploying. The tran should know if it runs in test or production environment. So my first idea was: check the server then you can decide if Test or Production.
Are there other ideas? My main goal is that I want a transaction which can run in both test and production environment without source change, and run differently depending on the environment.

  • How to Retrieve Server Name for creating connection pool during startup!

    Hi All,
I am going thru the edocs documentation of weblogic for creating the connection pool and the datasource dynamically. The URL I referred to was as under
    http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs81/jdbc/programming.html
There is a sample given in the above-mentioned URL. The Server MBean is created by passing the server name.
The code below mentioned was have placed in my dblib.java
    svrAdminMBean = (ServerMBean)adminMBeanHome.getAdminMBean("myserver", "Server");
I am creating the connection pool from the servlet by invoking the dblib.java
I cannot hard-code the server name in the dblib.java since the same code was shared across multiple servlets.
Each Servlet will create its own connection pool during application server startup.
Is there a way to retrieve the server name in which the dblib.java is invoked.
Any pointers to info source will be REALLY appreciated.
    Many Thanks in Advance,
    C R Baradwaj

    You can get it from the Java system property weblogic.Name, i.e. System.getProperty("weblogic.Name");

  • CAN'T Update Server name during login (since I have changed computer name)

I had a working environment of SAP BO 8.8 installation (VM), I made a second copy for a someone who needs to change his server name so we don't collide with each other.  So he changed his server name fine and now when we try to change the name during login in SAP BO, we are completely unable to do anything, no company or database shows up and when you try typing server name it won't allow you since it is a drop down, the only availble server name is the old server name.
We went to Service Manager, got a new license key for the hardware key, update fine as well as updating the server name there but when we try login, we are not able and no matter what we do we are not able to change the server name.  Please help, it is getting desperate (tried all things possible).
    Thanks

In working VM copy, do a global search for the server name in all configuration files in SAP install directory.  Then compare with copied copy and try to change appropriate names in all files.
Changing server name is a complex process, it has many references in many configuration files that you may have to touch.
This will be an uphill battle. Goodluck.
Lots of other things you can do, ping by hotname, check hostfile in case vm is also using it, there are two types of vm installs network or self contained (something like that) - so hostname may be getting masked by vm network environment, definitely SAP has few configuration files where the Server name, db name, license server name, port etc are present, even check for firewall settings etc.

  • SQLAlwaysOn 2012-Query server name shows NODE name not Cluster name

    Hi guys,
I just finished setting up my SQLAlwaysOnLab for our Development team. I'm having an issue understanding the AlwaysOn HA feature.... When I run  the "SELECT @@SERVERNAME AS 'Server
Name'" The result show the local server name and not the ClusterName or the  Availabilty Group Listener name. We need it to show the actual Cluster name or AG Listner game. Our 2008 r2 2005 clustering we have a shared storage cluster
and we setup the config services and application, so when i run a query in that environment it shows "NTS-PROD"(not the clustername). Which is what we want.. Thanks for any input at all! My dev config below:
    CLustername=ADM034SQLC050
    3 nodes in the cluster bellow: ADM034SQL051, ADM034SQL052, ADM034SQL053

    Hello,
Edwin is correct, this is the expected and correct behavior as it's returning the current server that it is executing on.
What you could do is create a function that could be executed to return the value you want inside of the databases involved in the AGs. That would give you what you want, but the built in functions are working correctly.
    Edit:
I wanted to expand on what I wrote and qualify it a little more so that it adds some extra information and understanding.
With a clustered instance, the servername will come back with the clustered instance name. This is because when using clustering, the resource for this is setup both at the SQL Server level (by choosing setup as a clustered instance) and at a windows level
(resources in the cluster). In a cluster, each instance has a VCO (virtual computer object) created for it in AD and that is actually what is used, so servername comes back with the VCO as we would expect.
This differs with AGs. AG instances are locally installed instances and they can be connected to without using a listener (in fact a listener isn't even needed for AGs). Listeners exist ONLY at the windows level as a resource, there is no VCO associated
with a listener or any other AG resource. Each instance can be connected to just like you would any other stand alone instance. In this situation SERVERNAME returns the name of the server that it is currently on as there is nothing special about these servers.
The clustering is only done at the windows layer and SQL Server installation are simply stand alone.

  • Server name in Parameter

I am writing SSIS PACKAGE  and there is Development, Production and UA server
Since I am developing package  in Development(Dev) area  and everytime  I have to change  the  server name for example Select * from [Servername].[Database name]. [tablename]  everytime  performing this query  in different
environment I like to use  Variable or parameter any idea? or How can I write  stpre proc with this?
    Vijay Patel

    The stored procedure should become
    Select * from <schema>.[tablename];
But where you use the server and database names is in the Source Connection Manager which happen to expose the connection string as one of its parameters.

  • Reference to database and/or server name in '' is not supported in this version of SQL Server

    Hello all
    I am using C# and ADO.NET (native) - Visual Studio 2013.
I am always using full qualified queries like "SELECT * FROM [database].[schema].[table]"
Obviously there is a problem when doing this against SQL Azure,
I get the following error: "Reference to database and/or server name in '' is not supported in this version of SQL Server"
Interesting fact: With SQL Management Studio, the same query works.
I need to know if this error is really a true one or not.
If yes, I can quit using SQL Azure. I would need a SQL Server and not a partial SQL Server :-)
    Thanks and best regards
    Frank

    Hi,
    Here are my suggestions:
    1. Use partially qualified queries, because:
    a. from a security standpoint, you'd want to limit your login's access across the server instance
    b. in order to achieve a even better, you should specify your database as the Initial Catalog directly in the SQL Connection.
If you take into account these practices, SQL Database doesn't come with any limitation from that point of view.
However, in regard to 'With SQL Management Studio, the same query works', this is actually only partially true because if you run that query agains ADO.NET, you'll actually end up in switching databases along the query which is obviously not permitted in
SQL Database since you're running in a hosted black-box version of SQL you're not managing. It's just like running the USE <dbname> command which obviously doesn't work.

  • Report server name issue

    Dear All,
I am stucking with the following problem,
I have deployed my ERP apllication (developed in oracle forms & reports 10g) on oracle apllication server 10g forms & report services. my apllication server has two LAN card. out of two one has been configured with statis IP for web access. but while running report from parameter form i am taking report url from table. table contain report server name as my local server name.
    My problem is,
If i am accessing erp from web using static ip and running report then server name is not recognized
because it is my local server name coming from table. so for that every time i need to change report url & replace server name with statis ip in browser addr for web users.
Please guide me what should i do to resolve this issue.
Your reply would be greatly apprecited.
    Thanks

If "Credentials supplied by the user running the report" is selected, when the report is run, the user will be prompted to provide credentials.  They would need to provide credentials that have the appropriate permissions (e.g., read, execute) to the
database.  This prevents the double hop.
If "Credentials stored securely in the report server" is selected, you have to enter the username and password of a user (or service account) that has the appropriate permissions (e.g., read, execute) to the database. When the report is run, SSRS will use
these stored credentials each time to authenticate to the database engine and query the data.  Users running the report are not prompted to provide credentials.  With this option you can use an Active Directory or SQL Server account.
In order to access/run the report, a user will need to authenticate to SSRS.  There are options here as well. You can provide them the link to the report manager and they can authenticate, navigate to, and run the report.  You can also provide
direct links to reports that users click in a document or application.  At this point the user is typically still prompted to authenticate to SSRS.  You can also programmatically call the report using API's and essentially build a proxy that authenticates
to SSRS and open the report.
Not sure if that answers your question.

    Hi,
I have copied a number of SSID packages from a live server to my test server and am trying to get them up and running but I have a problem with the connection. The only thing that is different is the server name. I decided to keep the same connection in the connection manager as it is referenced in a dtsConfig file. I changed the dtsConfig file to reference the new servername [Data Source= new test server name]. I also check my paths and they are pointing to the correct config locations etc.
I found this post which was similar to my problem but I still get problems with the connection
    http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1319961&SiteID=1
I updated the connection by changing the server name in the actual connection. I did this from the data flow tab in the Connection Managers sections (MS Visual Studio). Right clicked - Edit - changed the name of the server name to my test server and selected the database. Test connection was fine, and saved this.
Once I saved this, the connection string changed to my current test server in the properties of the connection. However when I run the package I get the following error:
Error: 0xC0202009 at ReportsImport, Connection manager "myconnectionstring": SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR.  An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005.

Error: 0xC0024107 at Myprocess import from file: There were errors during task validation.
So even if I change the existing connection properties and save and Build my package again, my connection properties (connectionstring, servername etc) all revert back to its original data source when I re-open the package. Simply it does not seem to be saving the connection properties i put in.
What am I doing wrong or how can I change the existing connection manager to look at the new server. The database is  the same and I have full admin privilege on the server.
I don't want to recreate my packages as there are alot and they are not simple.
After changing the connection properties, saving and reloading I get a connection error. But this is because it is not retaining the new connection manger setting i entered.
Incidentally - I created a new SSID to perform a simple connection and write to the the server and it was OK so there is no problem with actually seeing the my test server.
    Thanks in advance

Yes, the package is in visual studio and I have executed it. There are no errors but in the output i have the error message about my connection. My dtsConfig file is added to the project in the 'Package Configuration Organizer' and path and files are correct. This is the output error:
Error: 0xC020801C at xx import from file, xxReportsImport [79]: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_CANNOTACQUIRECONNECTIONFROMCONNECTIONMANAGER.  The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "myconnectionname" failed with error code 0xC0202009.  There may be error messages posted before this with more information on why the AcquireConnection method call failed.
I will try and run it using dtexec.exe. if I have two config files do i use
    dtsexec.exe /f <packagename> /conf <configfile> /conf <secondconfigfile>

  • SQL Server Express 2014 - Server Name

    Hi Guys,
I just now installed the free edition of SQL Server 2014 (Management Studio only edition).
During installation I was not allowed to provide an instance name. Post installation when I am trying to connect the server using the management  studio it fails consistently.
I have tried using LocalDB, (local), SQLExpress and all other combinations (machine\LocalDB) etc.
When I open the SQL Config Manager there "SQL Server Services" has no entries.
Can someone help me in getting the server name to connect to?
    Regards,
    HTH, Krishnan

    Hey Dan,
I am not facing a different kind of challenge. I am trying to connect to this instance using a different product. I tried the following:
    - Provided the same instance name as Mgmt Studio
    - Tried using both Windows / SQL Authentication
When I did a netstat, it does not show that 1433 is listening. The SQL Configuration Manager has 2 sections:
    1. SQL Native Client 11.0 Config - Here the TCP/IP is listening to 1433
    2. SQL Server Network Configuration -> Protocols for SQL Express - TCP / IP -> Dynamic Ports -> 49819
Netstat is showing some data for 49819. However my other product is still not able to pick up SQL Server :(

  • How to get orchestration instance server name

I have two server where orchestration can run...I need to know the server name where my orchestration instance has run.
    How to get this information...

When you have more than one BizTalk-processing server and if your orchestration is bound to host instance which exist in more than one server (generally for better resilience, the best practice
is to have multiple instances of host in different servers), the idea of get the server name where Orchestration instance has run is INVALID.
With the BizTalk features like scalability, resilience and persistence points an Orchestration instance could run in more than one server.
For example due to persistence points, if that BizTalk server were to suffer a power outage, another BizTalk server could continue the orchestration from the checkpoint rather than having
to start the orchestration from the beginning. Or during or during long-running process while waiting for a response, then message being consumed by an orchestration instance would be persisting the in-memory representation of an orchestration (to its last
good state) and any associated messages in BizTalk MessageBox. So when the response comes back the rest of the part of orchestration could execute from other server instance. So an orchestration would not always run from one server.
But if you have specific “Expression shape” which you may have been using for logging/tracing then you can get the server name which executed that particular “Expression shape” from an Orchestration
instance (not the whole Orchestration instance). This is done using the standard .NET code to get the server name -
    System.Environment.MachineName
