Frontier Tranzport w MainStage?
Hello,
I have used Mainstage in live concerts since version 1.xx with excellent succes. Important part of my band's live setup is wireless (bluetooth) controller Frontier Tranzport. It is used to change patches with foot pedal and buttons are used for muting etc. The small display of Tranzport gives enough feedback of which patch is chosen.
My problem is that the Mainstage quit co-operation with Tranzport since version 2.01. After that version the patch changing has worked in very odd way: when I push the pedal to select next patch or use a button to move back a batch Mainstage jumps over one patch. So every second patch is available with this method...
I have spent several hours with different versions of Mainstage trying to solve this issue. The tranzport is simply sending note on/off commands, so I can not understand what is happening?? Is there some hidden midi command preference that appeared after 2.01 that I don't just notice?
I use 2.2.2 and 3.0.3 with other projects when the Tranzport is not needed. But with my main performing group we still use 2.0.1. I would really like to use more current version but I need the wireless control for this particular show. The computer is hidden in the back of the stage and Tranzport is sitting nicely on top of a mic stand.
I know that Tranzport is getting a bit outdated and is not supported very well any more. If someone can recommend a small, tidy wireless solution with foot pedal possibility and visual feedback, I am grateful.

Frontier Tranzport problem on Startup
Every time Logic 9 starts up, it "adds" my TranzPort to the list of control surfaces. Pretty soon, Logic thinks there's a dozen Tranzports connected, and every time you hit 'play' on the remote, Logic stutters in play (as if receiving a dozen 'start' commands.)
Anyone seen this, or know of a possible workaround to fix it?
Far as I know, Frontier no longer makes or supports the TranzPort.

Get rid of the warnings prior to stretching audio in Arrange
Does anyone know how to get rid of the warnings prior to stretching audio in Arrange?
In the demonstration here on Apples own website, workflow is sped up by the fact that you don't have to hit ok twice before the edit is executed. I have tried to disable warnings etc, but it still does it.

Incidently, I clearing popup warnings using the V-Pots on the Mackie Control doesn't work anymore either. Can anyone confirm this?
This appears to be yet another newly introduced controller bug... Don't even get me started on trying to use a Frontier Tranzport with version 8.No, the inly option is to uncheck 'Warning before processing function by key command', which doesn't change the situation.

Hi Since I have installed LP8 my Frontier Tranzport has gone bonkers. I have contacted Frontier who say they are not aware of problems with LP8. I have done rebuild defaults. Nothing seem to get it back. At the moment when I boot LP7 t see what happens there the transport buttons are triggering notes in midi instruments

I've had no problems with my Tranzport in L8. However, I did have the problem you described in L7 on one occasion. you know the scenario. Worked one day. Started up the next having made no changes and I, too, got MIDI notes. I deleted the drivers and Control Surface settings, reinstalled and it all worked. The Control Surface file can be found here but be aware that deleting it deletes all your Control Surfaces
user/library/preferences/logic/com.apple.logic.pro.cs

Korg MicroKontrol with Logic Pro 7.1 & 7.2?
Has anyone actually got the Korg MicroKontrol to work with its supplied Logic scenes & If so how do you do it?
7.2 is suppose to fix the 7.1 problem (as below) but it don't!

The mK either works in Native mode (which is what the control surface support docs mean) and in this mode, its internal scenes are ignored.
Or you can use the regular mode, but the Logic scenes aren't terribly good.
I'm using the mK in 7.1 in both modes without problems, so what exactly is the problem you are having? -
I'm migrating from DP5 to LogicPro 8. I seem to have everything installed correctly and working with my system. I imported a project into LP8 using OMF (which worked fine, amazingly) then overdubbed a MIDI track (which also worked exactly as expected). However, I went to add vocals to an audio track and was surprised to find that there is a delay when I press record while a Progess window pops-up to count down the remaining time I have left to record on my hard drive. The audio drops for about a second, which ***** for trying to to do manual punch-ins on the fly. Is there a setting I can adjust so I can do 'punch on the fly' using my Frontier Tranzport device without the one-second audio drop out?

Yes. It's called (not suprisingly) "Punch On The Fly"
Click and hold on the record button in teh transport. You'll see a list off options... make sure "Punch On The Fly" is enabled.

Frontier AlphaTrack and Novation ReMOTE both unusable with Logic Express 8
After reading all the hype about Logic 8 I went and picked up a copy of Express to see how easy it was to learn -- and indeed, it's MUCH easier than 7 and the interface is absolutely beautiful. It's exactly the way I would have designed it, both in layout and aesthetics.
However, I'm a bit disappointed that I can't use my brand-new Novation ReMote 25SL with Logic. During the first launch, the Automap server seemed to launch and quit in an endless loop until I force quit it. Logic doesn't seem to properly recognize it either as a controller or as a MIDI keyboard.
Likewise, my Frontier Alphatrack unit, which is supposed to be supported by Logic 8, doesn't really do anything -- it displays a few random parameters, nothing responds properly.
I've been using Mackie Tracktion 3 and Reason 4 with these controllers quite successfully. I'm a little frustrated as this means I can't really get started to use Logic without a lot of mousing, and my carpal tunnel tends to protest when I do that.
One fix I read online involved hacking files in Logic 8 to remove the AlphaTrack support in order to get the Novation keyboard to work -- but I'm not going that far!
Frontier, for their part, say they have provided all the data to Apple to allow them to implement support -- nearly a year ago actually -- but their feeling is that it got lost in the race to release Leopard and Logic 8. I'm not sure about Novation but they might need to update their software and firmware for Leopard / Logic.
Is anyone else having the same experience? Any success / frustration / news you'd care to share?

Apparently there is a driver conflict between the AlphaTrack and the ReMOTE. So far I have got the ReMOTE working - sort of - in Logic using the following method which was published at Novation's Answerbase:
1. disconnect the alphatrack.
2. launch Logic and then turn on the ReMOTE SL.
3. Go into the Environment window, and add a Monitor Object. Connect it to the Remote SL's ports 2 and 3.
So far, this seems to at least get MIDI note input into Logic, but the Automap function seems a bit sketchy so far. This will depend on Novation updating Automap and the SL's firmware for Logic 8.
As noted previously, there doesn't seem to be any AlphaTrack support in Logic 8 yet and it's up to Apple to make it work. They do support their TranzPort product, so with luck there'll be support in the next update.
I'd really love to use BOTH control surfaces with Logic simultaneously -- the AlphaTrack with the Mixer and plugins, the ReMOTE with Software Instruments. I suppose it might take some interesting mapping but this doesn't seem like that strange a setup -- there are plenty of "mixer surfaces" like the M-Audio one, and the Novation Automap stuff is quite popular.... -

I think you mean that MS will not open because it is set to open the previous project (which crashes), or MS will just 'plain' not open?
I'd try "Trashing" the MS preferences (remove it from the Preferences folder then restart MS);

The User Library is hidden by default in Lion and M Mion: Use the Finder:Go menu whilst holding down Option to get there

How do i use one midi controller and ignore another in Mainstage 2.1?
I am running Mainstage and Ableton Live in parallel and use two midi controllers. I would like the APC40 to just be recognized by Live, and my MPK49 to be recognized by Mainstage and Live. Right now, I get midi signal from Mainstage on both midi controllers and can't seem to figure out how to assign just Mainstage to just get midi input from the MPK49. Any ideas? Thanks.

The sliders on the APC40 (which I just want to be recognized by Live), are affecting the Mainstage Channel Strips volume sliders. I can't seem to figure how to make Mainstage ignore this as all of the APC40 sliders are effecting Channel Strip 1. Thanks. -
Graphic problems/errors with Mainstage 3 and MBP (15'' 2011)
Hi,
I bought Mainstage 3 for my MBP (15'' 2011).
When i click con "perform" i get graphic errors.
I have the same issue with the old Mainstage version since Mountain Lion.
Also a fresh installation didn't help.
I think i'm not the only one with this issue!
I don't know how to report a bug?
Perhaps someone can help me.

So, here an example how it looks like when i click on "perform":Same configuration,same problem. BUT I found a workaround.
Mainstage has this error with the AMD video card and/or a second monitor connected.
With a little app (http://gfx.io) it's possible to really force the MBPro to use the Intel Graphics card.
This will work only with the internal screen, not with a second screen connected.
And sometimes you need to restart, to really make the Intel video card free.
This works fine...In the meantime of a fix. -

I have been using Logic Pro on stage for many years and have just tried to run mainstage along side Logic in a live scenario. Logic pro runs a track and then mainstage is used to play a selection of patches whilst the track is playing. Both applications work together seamlessly and mainstage easily opens the patches, the problem is mainstage is detuning the chosen patches by a semitone and therefore I have to play a semitone lower in order to play with the backing track and this gets very confusing when jumping between software and hardware sounds!
When I play with the same midi controller through a channel strip in Logic pro there are no problems, however when i jump to using mainstage there is a problem.
Has anyone else encountered this? Any fixes?

In Mainstage, triggering a loop made in Logic 8
Anyone have any tips on how to do this? Basically it'd be nice if I could, while in Mainstage I, trigger a software instrument region or an audio region that I made in Logic 8 by hitting a key on my MIDI controller. I don't really want to trigger a loop to play for the duration of a track though. Only in certain parts of a track. Like if I press C1 on my keyboard my region I created in Logic plays. When the region is ended that's it until I wold hit the C1 key again.

I've had trouble with ultrabeat in MS1. Sometimes a long sample would stop playing. Whoops. -
File types for Playback in MainStage 3?
I have some questions about utilizing Playback in Mainstage 3. What types of files can I load into the Playback interface? Does it ONLY take .WAV files? I would really like to import mp3's or complete songs into Playback so I can play along without having to use iTunes. If it only takes waves, then I have to save songs in that format, which would require very large files. Any thoughts?
Also, can I have different patches within my concert that each have a different file in Playback? For example, can I create a dozen different patches within the same concert, and have each one contain a different file in Playback? If not, then I would probably have to create a seperate concert for each one which isn't really ideal.
I know I can use Playback for loops, song components, etc. - and I understand that perfectly well. I just want to also utilize it to play along/practice with songs from my library, and I'm not sure if it's really the best way to do that.

MainStage playback plugin tempo issue
I am having problems with importing audio into a playback plugin.
I understand that the audio file needs to be exported from Logic X as a CAF file. I have done this, and then imported it into the playback plugin in Mainstage3.
I have ensured that the tempo of the song in MainStage is at the appropriate level i.e. in this case a patch, which has been set to the tempo of the original song in logic.
I have also synced the loop in the playback plugin, and set snap to beat.
The problem is, it doesn't play at the same speed as the metronome i.e. as the tempo of the patch in MainStage. The result is that it plays too fast, and pitch shifts with adjustment. I have used all the flexitime options, but ultimately this is trying to put a small plaster on a large open wound.
As a test of sanity, I have also exported as AIFF and wav. No joy there either. I have even opened the resultant AIFF file in iTunes, and it DOES play at the correct tempo.
Does anyone know a solution to this problem, or if not, of another playback plugin for MainStage that actually might work properly!!!??
ThanksAlthough I still have no idea what causes this problem I do have a work around for anyone else who happens to experience this same problem.
As I am not the creator of the loops, I cannot recreate them, so my only option is to "convert" them from *.wav to *.wav using FormatFactory on my work computer (MS Windows).
For some reason, the files end up a few bytes smaller, but they play to the end with no issues.
I would love to know what changes are being made during the conversion, but at the moment, I don't have the time to "debug" the situation.

I'm very new to Logic software. I noticed that all the Apple Loops are easily accessible in Logic but not MainStage. Is there any way I can use them in MainStage? I tried exporting tracks as WAV and AIFF files but then couldn't figure out how to import them to use in MainStage. If Apple Loops can't be used in MainStage, is there a way to make, say, an atmospheric sound keep playing until you stop it from just one touch of the keyboard?
Thank you. So, using MainStage as a live instrument, I'd like to play some of the great sound effects (wind/water/dog) and atmospheres I can find in Logic Pro under Loops. Is there any way to access these with MainStage? It would be a pity not to be able to for live performance, but if it's not possible, are you suggesting that I create the atmospheres for myself using the EX24 and Ultrabeat, or are you suggesting that there may be a way to use those software instruments to create loops of the sounds that are available in MainStage?
