Frozen BB Z10

Hey guys,
I have a question I was hoping you could answer regarding my Blackberry Z10.  A couple days ago my Z10 phone battery died as I was sitting watching a movie.  When I came back and put my phone in my charger, it showed the yellowish LED light to say it was charging and I left it there.  When I tried to turn on my phone later it would only progress to the part of the start up where it says "Blackberry" and has the symbol in white letters and coloring over a black background.  After being on that screen it would stop for a couple seconds, the screen would turn a shade brighter, and freeze.  I held the power switch at the top of the phone to reset it and the same thing happened.  I also attempted a battery pull and the same results occur with the freezing at the same place in the start up.  If left alone on that screen, the screen does not change and nothing happens until the phone battery dies. If I plug it into my computer, my computer recognizes it for a second and then it dissappears.  Also, the red light on my phone turns on as it starts up.   If you have anyway to help save my phone it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Sean

Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain directly connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB, not a cradle):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
Remove the battery
Wait 15 minutes
Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs. If it does not help, increase the wait time on step 4 to 2 hours.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Note carefully please that "new" and "know good" are not necessarily the same things. While rare, a "new" battery certainly could be defective. Rather, the simplest (and least costly, btw) method to conduct this test is to find someone with an identical BB who has no issues...trade batteries and see what happens.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Blackberry Z10 Apps seem to be frozen

I received the latest up date for the OS10.  It downloaded, but when it went to install, it stopped after 6% was installed.  I haven't been able to start over and none of my apps are working.  When I went to the Blackberry Link ,it wouldn't acknowledge that the Z10 was connected.  What do I do?

Remove the battery from your phone, connect it to your computer, open BlackBerry Link, wait for Link to open, replace the battery in your phone.
Let us know if that helps you.

  • My Blackberry Z10 is frozen, stuck at Finalizing device setup 100%

My Z10 re-started automatically this morning and since then has been stuck at 100% with the message 'Finalising Device Set Up'. I have tried re-booting many a times but no luck. I have searched the forum and all talk only about reseting to factory setting. I will lose all the holiday pictures taken since the last backup if I do it and I don't want to restore unless there is no other option. OS: V10 Thanks

I have now tried factory restore as well using blackberry link. Though link recognises my device, it comes with the following message when I try the restore Software update encountered an errorA connection to the device could not be established. Please ensure that the device is properly connected to the cradle or USB cable and the cradle or USB is connected securely to your computer. Also ensure that the device has completed any startup operations. Then run the Application Loader Wizard again. Completely stuck, don't know what else to do Thanks

BB you mean Blackberry Link? Why did you try to restore it? What happened before you tried to restore?

  • Frozen Boot Up Screen On Blackberry Z10

I have a blackberry Z10 Smartphone STL100-1, which is about 4 months old. Two days back I had switched it off and when I tried switching it ON it was stuck at the boot screen.
It was stuck in that mode for hours, yet it could not boot. Whenever I tried to restart , my phone met the same fate.Another thing -- I cannot switch off my phone, whenever I do that it just restarts and gets stuck in the boot screen and continues to be in that state until it drains it's battery completely. So the only way to switch off my phone is by doing a battery pull. The last software update was done about few weeks back from the mobile itself.
I looked up the internet for a solution and the most common solution was to go for a software update.Blackberry link does not recognize my device after this boot problem, hence I went for the update from the web, using Internet Explorer . The update started but could not complete and gave the following error message-- "There was an error updating your software".I tried to update it a few more times but that was of no use.
It would be great if anyone can post a possible solution to this problem.I would like to love to have my phone working again.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Given what you describe, I would recommend that you use an AutoLoader to attempt to force an OS reload onto your device. Refer:

    Hey jcmontenegro,
Welcome to the BlackBerry® Support Community Forums.
This may be an issue with your Wi-Fi connection. I would suggest connecting to a different Wi-Fi network to attempt to complete the setup.

  • Z10 frozen on blackberry logo

    Hi
I have had the z10 for just over a year now and out of nowhere it froze on the blackberry logo at the starting screen. (not the blue one, the very first black and white one)
I didn't even restart the phone. I just woke up there it was.
I tried pulling batteries, it didn't work. I can't even reload since the computer won't even recognize when the phone is linked.
The model i have is stl100-3.
    someone please help me T.T.....

Welcome to the forums, there are many reasons this could happen have you tried just a simple hard reboot, hold down the power button for 10 seconds or up/down volume keys for approximately 20?
It's very hard to brick the phone and there are many ways to reload the OS, how to reload your OS can be found here...

  • Z10 frozen at about 99% of the trip around the blue logo, and isnt recongised by my laptop

    Guys/Gals,
My Z10 went funny today and wouldnt send e mails or texts. I turned it off and on turning back on the little blue line which surrounds the logo gets to about 99% then stops. I have read all I can over the past few hours and most suggest restoring software (apart from removeing battery, sim etc - which I have also done). However the device is not being recognised - presumable because it has not started up?
Is there a solution which I can use? Or do I need to get a technicial involved?
    Many thanks
    Graham

The advice I see that makes most sense is use an autoloader. I haven't done it myself yet.

  • Z10 BBID basically frozen, won't let me verify

All I want is a ringtone, lol!! I couldn't remember the password, so I did the steps to reset it, and it won't let me in. Any help is totally appreciated! Thanks!!

Wow! OK. Well, the good news is you should be able to do a security wipe and then log in with your new BBID. The bad news is you will lose any data you currently have on the device. If you have pictures or videos make sure they're saved to the media card. If you have contacts that aren't associated with an email account then you might want to write some of them down so you can re-enter them later. I do recommend saving contacts and calendar in an email account like Outlook.com.
If you make a backup it will be under the old BBID and you won't be able to restore under the new BBID so there's no point in doing that.
I know it's a real pain but consider yourself very lucky Protect wasn't enabled. If it was you wouldn't even be able to wipe the device.
The security wipe can be done by going to Settings >Security and Privacy >Security Wipe. It can take considerable time so plug it in and leave it alone for a few hours while it does the wipe.
Protect is a great feature but you need to keep track of your BBID password and NEVER delete a BBID that is currently in use.

  • Frozen help

I dropped my blackberry z10 the top left corner cracked a lil but since my pho e has been frozen, stuck on screen. It won't let me like slide to open like my screen isn't working properly. I've tried holdingbutton for 10 sec and taking my battery out

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Given your description and at an internet-distance, I can only deduce that the fall has caused some internal damage...which, of course, cannot be healed with software. Only in-hand evaluation by a qualified technician can provide you with a proper diagnosis and estimate. Given the fall, I doubt your warranty will be of any use...if you happen to have any insurance on the device, then that may well be useful. Otherwise, you will be looking at 100% out of pocket costs to repair the damage that has been done.
    Good luck!

  • Z10 browser issue

    Hello all,
Big issue for the last 4 days.
    I am on BB10, Z10, Model STL100-1, 10.2.1.2977, OS- 10.2.1.3247
My personal space browser suddenly stopped working. checked online, many have faced this issue and solutions involve deleting history etc but all that is not an option in my case since i am unable to access the menu items , the 3 dots don't work. neither does typing any url or the new page button etc. its completely frozen.
while one browser doesn't work , even if i use another app to open a link in the browser, the work browser on work space works perfectly fine.
After much reading and doing both soft and hard  resets - restarts and taking battery out  etc i decided to replace the existing sys.browser file (blackberry's file for the browser) as there is no other way to reset the data/cache in the browser. so,
    1) i replaced the sys.browser file (original - came with the last and latest software update 10.2.1.3247) with a 10.3 browser from the crackberry forums. the work browser was also replaced understandably which confirms that the browser file is the same for both instances albeit with different settings/bookmarks etc . so this file also doesn't work in the personal space . still frozen, but when i open a link using a third party app then the browser starts working while that link is open. as soon as this instance is closed, the browser goes back to its frozen state.
    2) i search further and found a stable , recommended 10.2.2 browser. same issue as above with that too.
    3) downloaded a 10.1.0 version browser too, didn't work at all, just a black screen. i tried then both internal phone updates and blackberry link to update the phone - well hoping that while the phone os hasn't changed but since i had downgraded its browser i wondered if it would update the browser to an original one , fresh and all.
    4) sadly nothing works, the interesting part being while the version and file size of the actual sys.browser bar file changed, the cache size remained the same.
    5) i have for the meantime again installed the frozen 10.3.0 browser as stated in (1) ; while it is frozen it does atleast one thing better than others, without harming the work browser.
    6) i am a little concerned and apprehensive of having bar files on a personal device from total strangers especially with all security issues and hackers at large.
So i am looking for either a solution to the above problem with a stable browser for 10.2.1.3247 . i do not want to do a full reload of the software since that is a waste of time - considering the setup of all apps and other settings. don't want to go for that route. I also cannot wait until 10.3.1 whenever that is released officially since that could take months form now.
    Please help .
Note: for the above a chrome extension which lets sideload .bar files or .apk files was used. its highly recommended and pretty neat and stable for such tasks.
All other apps work, so does everything on the work space including browser enterprise IM and emails.

I really tried to find info for your issue but could not, sorry.

  • Youtube video corrupts Z10's video playback

I was playing this video on my Z10: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=jLxZlwxOdd0#!
After about an hour I got this error:
There was an error receiving video data.
The server may have stopped sending.
Please try to restart the video or check
    your network connection.
So far no big deal. However when I tried to replay the video everything was wierd, the browser could be hung on youtube pages, I was not able to close the page. I could open new tabs, but anything with a video in it would be frozen.
Even worse, simply playing my stored videos would also no longer work. It was as if the very video engine of the phone was locked up.
I had to do a full restart of the phone to fix things. Browser restart would not work.
I replayed the video and the error happened a few more times, again I had to restart.
Note that I am running the latest OS, had not other apps running besides some emails in the hub.
Also, the video link above is not strictly the original video, it has been edited to remove an intro, but hopefully it contains the same characteristics that would help someone at BB to analyze things.
My goal here is to encourage a fix so that the video engine can recover, reset itself once a new video is played. It was weird the full effects of the problem, freezing browser pages, freezing the local video player app, etc.

    Hi rblaa,
To clarify, are you getting the error after the video's been playing for an hour?  It appears the video is only 40 minutes in length so I'm a little confused.
When you encounter the issue, are you connected to a Wi-Fi network or to the Mobile Network?
    Thanks.

  • Z10 Crashes - How Do I Fix?

This is my first time using the blackberry forum so I appologize if this topic is already posted and just don't know how to locate the answer.
A month or two ago my Z10 auto-updated to the 10.3.1.1779 update and now my phone works like junk.
It crashed any time I open any social media app, any type of game, and when I try to use the Maps GPS. It crashes 75% of the time when I try to use the browser to do a search as well.
It no longer allows me to properly answer a phone call so I Always miss phone calls. When I try to slide to answer button. It just keeps ringing or vibrating and doesn't actually answer the call. The screen goes black and eventually it just goes to voice mail.
Every time something crashes. The phone freezes for about 5 minutes. Even if I take the battery out the phone is still frozen!
This NEVER happened before this most recent update. I have deleted more than 50% of my apps to"clear up space" but the device is still so full of memory from the update that (when my GPS does work) it tells me it can't work efficiently because my memory is too full.
Does anyone know of or have suggestions on how this can be fixed without doing the following :
    * Without restoring it to factory settings
    * without taking it to Rogers to have them 'ship it out' for repairs.
I have a lot of important info on this phone and can't afford to lose it or be without it.
Thanks for the time and your help!

Thanks for that help. It's unfortunate that when you spend hundreds of dollars on a phone you have to do manual things to repair it when updates should be improving your phones operations and not deteriorating them. I'm not a techy and have a hard time with that kind of stuff, the best solution sounds like it's time to finally kick blackberry to the curb and get on someone else's train.
