Hi farai, welcome to the HP Forums. If your computer appears to be powering on, but you cannot see the screen it may be a recoverable situation.
This document will help you diagnose the issue, it looks like you have already done Step 1 (hard reset):
Computer Starts but Screen Remains Blank (Windows 8)
If you get to Step 3, the options listed won't work since you indicated you cannot get into your BIOS. In place of Step 3 in that document, you can try to restore your BIOS using this method: Restoring the BIOS
If you get to the end, it says to call HP. If so, it is most likely a hardware issue and you should call support for more options: HP Technical Support, North America 1-800-474-6836. For all other regions click here.
I hope this helps. If you need any more information, let me know.

  • Radeon HD 6450 causes computer to hang when waking from sleep

Card runs fine from a cold boot, but after resuming from sleep, causes fans to run 100% and computer never resumes, just makes a lot of noise and has a blank screen. It won't respond at all to keyboard or mouse. I've tried the original drivers on MSI site and the latest from the AMD site with the same results. If I install my old video card, my computer works fine. I thought overclocking might be the cause, but even with it disabled, the card still causes my computer to hang when resuming.
Computer is an HP Pavillion a6200 (motherboard ECS Nettle2).
    Any ideas?

As you upgrade the card in a prebuilt system the old card and system were most likely fine-tuned. Possibly there's still any HP software interfering. Try uninstalling the driver and any HP software and retry with AMD drivers installed after reboot.

  • Computer freezes/hangs - Satellite L655

    I have a Satellite L655 AMD Phenom(tm)quad core processor II P960. 64-bit. 4 gb ram. 1.80GHz (Windows 7)
    ..about 4 years old now..
I shouldve made this aware way back when it started because it wouldve made it a hell of a lot easier.
For about a year or more now everytime i log and get on the internet, play games, use microsoft word, ANYTHING. My connections starts to "Hang" (not responding) and turn up a white screen for about 5 minutes. this happens about 5-10 times an hour, literally. not even joking. about every 5-10 minutes this happens and it annoys me so much. I've ran many computer scans, gotten rid of malware/adware, boosted performance speed, run ccleaner and defraged it. always automatically install windows updates. EVERYTHING. the problem still isnt solved. I use chrome as my current internet browser and i frequently delete the history, cache, and cookies. Even as im typing this my browser started to hang, for a stunning 8 minutes! Im on the brink of throwing my laptop out the window.
I believe it may be a program i have installed a while back that i dont remember which, i dont know. maybe something like a third party add on from a program thats doing this but i just want it resolved.
    THANKS!

    Tristen,
Please provide the full model number of your computer.  It is printed on the bottom.
You can try to restore your computer to an early restore point and see if you can restore your computer to a time before the problem began.  If this doesn't work, the best way would be to run in safe mode and see if you can reproduce the white screen.  If you can't, than it is likely being caused by conflict from some program that you have installed previously.  You could try uninstalling things one at a time, or just restore your computer back to out-of-box state and start all over.
I like to do a restore to out-of-box about once a year to keep clutter from building up on my computer.  Of course I save everything first (personal files, bookmarks, etc.) so I don't have to do that all over again.

  • What to do with a disc icon on a frozen computer??

Hi guys need some help here. I have gone from a grey screen (aaahhhhhhh) to a grey screen with a square icon in the centre with a disc in it (Mac OS X Install Disc 1) written beneath and an arrow in a circle. Cant get any further, mouse arrow is frozen and i am scared to press anything for fear of going back to the dreaded grey screen.  Anyone got and constuctive advice for an almost computer illiterate blond

  • Frozen Mouse + Restart Hang

I was going about my day as usual. I rebooted because my wireless connection was acting up, however, as soon as my Mac Pro logs in, the mouse is unresponsive. It works for about 5 seconds, but as soon as it is finished loading everything it stops working.
My guess was that there was something strange loading in the startup, but there was nothing in the account settings besides the iTunes helper.
I use a Mighty Mouse, so I figured I would try a second mouse to rule things out. I plugged in a Kensington optical mouse but required a reboot for it to turn on, so I did. However, when I attempt to reboot, it hangs at the spinning wheel with my desktop background.
After a long time of waiting, I held down the power button to force shut down, rebooted, and the mouse seemed to work ok, but after a couple of minutes, the Kensington mouse ALSO stopped responding. Now I have 2 unresponsive mice, and a computer that I can't properly shut down... what could cause this?
    These are my specs:
Mac Pro 2 x Quad Core 3.0 GHz
    OS X 10.5.2
    Gjunkie

    USB or Bluetooth (wireless?)
Sounds like USB, so we'll go from there. Are you using other USB devices? Try unplugging everything but the keyboard and mouse. If you're using a hub, make sure it has its own power supply.
(By the way, you can shut down from the keyboard with Ctrl-Eject...no need for the mouse and no reason to force it down.)

  • Dialog box "unapproved caller" has frozen computer multiple reboots has not resolved the issue

Frozen screen with dialog box "unapproved caller"
have be turned off wireless, have rebooted in option and verified all discs, still frozen on dialog box at startup

Restart the computer in safe mode. Certain caches maintained by the system will be rebuilt.
Safe mode is much slower to start up than normal.
When the login screen appears, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and test. There's no need to log in while in safe mode.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t start in safe mode. In that case, ask for instructions.

  • HELP!!  iTunes causes computer to hang up when shuffling through songs.

When having songs on shuffle play, my entire computer hangs up for a few seconds while iTunes is shuffling through songs. I have tried everything, from completely uninstalling (going into system32 or whatever that is) and reinstalling, to turning off Sound Enhancer (that fixed the song-skip when scrolling thru playlist), to turning off Crossfade (fixes the problem for about 4 songs), but nothing seems to work. I got really mad at it today when it made my computer hang up for 4 minutes when changing songs. My computer is kind of old, but it's not a total dinosaur (P4 2.26, 1.25 Gigs of ram, sufficient free hard disk space, etc). Is there a solution to this problem, or am I just going to have to use some other music playing program?
P4 2.26 1.25 Gig Ram 0.7 TB total HDD   Windows XP Pro

It sounds like a variation from this article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93647
Try getting rid of that Shwicon2k process, if it's on your PC. It's multimedia card reader software. You can always put it back. It might be causing a conflict.

  • Computer randomly hangs

    Hello,
I'm experiencing random freezes in Windows 8.1.
This is the last even recorded by my system,
    DistributedCOM ID 10010
The server (BF6C1E47-86EC-4194-9CE5-13C15DCB2001) did not register within required timeout
It's a fairly new computer and it has a clean install of Windows 8.1 on it.
I've installed the latest Windows and driver software for my hardware.
    These are my specs
    M/B  :Gigabyte P67A-UD7-B3 (BIOS versie F7)
    CPU  :Intel i7 2600k
    GPU  :HD Radeon 6970 GDDR5 (2x 2 GB)
    PSU  :Corsair HX850
    RAM  :Corsair Vengeance 16 GB DDR3 (4 x 4 GB)
    SPU  :E-MU 1010 PCI (1616m) soundcard
    OS    :Windows 8.1 PRO_NL
I have some information that could be valuable in solving this problem.
I had two of the same video cards in my computer before, but after installing an extra PCI soundcard it, sometimes one of them didn't work.
It would either not show up in the device manager, or the device manager exclamation mark saying that there are no
resources left for the IRQ (or something simmilar like that)
I've tried to update the BIOS and reset it to its default values and installed a clean copy of Windows 8.1.
    Nothing worked.
I later decided to remove the video card, it was an overkill anyway.
Since then it hasn't shown... but I experience hangs ups once in a while.
I have confirmed that the PCI sound card is working perfectly in Windows 8.1 on my old system.
I think it might have something to do with the IRQ, still.
Can someone please help me figure this out.
I need a stable computer for my home studio work.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi FadingMusic,
"Since then it hasn't shown... but I experience hangs ups once in a while."
Do you mean this issue occur after we remove the video card ? Have you tried to update the video card driver from the device manager ?If it is possible ,it is recommended to download the driver from manufacturer website.
Have you checked task manager whether there is a process occupying much system resources when the system freezes ?
For the logs in the Event Viewer ,please disable the two taks  "IdleSync Maintenance Task " ,"RoutineMaintenance Task "from the taks schedule in this path \Microsoft\Windows\SkyDrive\ and then have a check .

To get a better performance of windows, please always keep it update to date .
1.Swipe from the right or press the Windows + C key. Tap or click the Search charm, and then type Windows Update.
2.Tap or click Settings, and then select Install optional updates.
3.When the Windows Update control panel opens, click Check for Updates on the top left corner to receive a list of available updates for your PC.

  • New mini-frozen computer

I just got a mini; I'm not very good on computers. But, I installed itunes on my 1-yr old laptop (has Windows XP) and transferred about 350 songs into itunes. Then, I connected the IPOD into the USB2 card outlet and my computer froze up while trying to get the IPOD recognized. I've tried it repeatedly and my computer always freezes up. The mini flashes the "do not disconnect" sign. What am I doing wrong? Please help!

hi i actually just got my mini yesterday and i think i'm having the same problem gloria had. the moment i connect my mini to the computer, the mini flashes the "do not disconnect" sign. i tried to restore/format it on my computer, but every time i tried, it would freeze my computer up (the mouse wouldn't even move). after restoring it on a friend's computer (it now says updated on the ipod manager thing) i opened up iTunes, connected my mini, and then it froze up my computer again. i'm at a complete loss as to what to do, please help....

  • IPod frozen, computer & iTunes not recognizing it HELP PLEASE!

My iPod's screen (I have it unplugged from computer) is stuck on the synchronizing Do not disconnect. message and it won't go off. It also still stays it's locked although it isn't. Whenever I plug it back into the laptop it NOTHING picks it up, it just comes up with a message saying it's an unknown device. I've tried to restart my computer and I;ve put my iPod in another computer and it also said it was an unkown device and nothing would pick it up. Can someone please help me.

Call Apple (1-800-myapple) and give them the serial number.
They can notify the last registered owner and pass on your contact info to them so it can be returned.

  • My computer keeps hanging up, and I keep getting the error message, script is unresponsive.

Yes, I know there is a section about this question. But, frankly it is sort of confusing as to which issue the problem is. So, I thought I would ask here. This problem started a few days ago, but now is constantly persistent no matter what web page I'm accessing. I originally thought it was Yahoo, but I can see it is other web sites. Being this problem seemed to come out of thin air, what are my options. I really haven't done anything to my computer, I think, to warrant this problem. Can someone please help. Thank you.

    cor-el,
I've been running in safe mode now for day & 1/2 now. So far no problem. I do notice that there may be two, I think recent additions that might be suspect, if in fact they are. Really don't know, but, capture & print is recent. Do you cor-el know of any issues with that extension? I was told to add that feature to my computer by a contributor on this forum (firefox). The second possible issue--again guessing, is windows live photo gallery. That too may be recent. cor-el, any issues with that, that you are aware of? Thanks

option-command-escape should bring up a window showing running apps (a bit like the Windows Task Manager) and allow you to select one and Force Quit.
