I found out that really no i pod is officially busted or not operational today. It turns out that my fourth generation i pod nano was frozen and I was thinking of returning it and exchanging it ; but instead i went to the Support section under Apple and got the solution. It is called: **iPod: No power or frozen**
**Last Modified: June 06, 2008** I strongly recommend it. All you have to do is put the hold switch onto the setting off and then you hold the menu an center button for 10 seconds. It isn't for the i pod 4th generation but it worked for me.

Frozen i-pod nano

I had my ipod plugged into the computer and everything was fine until I-tunes froze and I had to force quit it. Now my i-pod has been frozen on the "connected" screen for about half an hr, even when I unplug it. It is also locked. I have tried holding select and menu down at the same time for a few secs but that hasnt worked. Please help!

Well ok if you have done the 5R's then you might want to get it replaced; you can do this online by going to http://depot.info.apple.com/iPod/
or go to an Apple store (preferibly) and tell them about the problem and they should give you a iPod right then and there. Doing it through the website will take a lot longer.

You, my friend, are a life saver!!! I had the same problem today and I was freaking out. I was watching a video and went back to the menu and that's when it froze. None of the buttons would do anything. It sat like that with the backlight on for about three hours so the battery is just about drained now. I never knew about the Menu and Select button reset method until now.

I-pod completely frozen & in desperate help....

well my i- pod nano was workin extremely good.. but suddenly it froze.. now i have tried all the methods given here holdin menu and select buttons and all... it doesnt seem to start up.. even my computer is unable to recognize it... its completely frozen... well i took this up to the place where i bought it... they said to contact to the apple and ask for a replacement... now i tried lots of ways i still didnt finda method gettin my i-pod workin perfectly or contactin the apple people... my warranty date is also quickly runnin out...
can anyone suggest me a good method to solve this...

you said you tried a reset? YOU PUSHED AND HELD the menu button and the middle button AT THE SAME TIME for 10 seconds? this may take a few trys and its best if connected to power.
