Frozen ipod, battery won't run down

ok here's the problem
1. the buttons won't work
2. when i hook it up to my computer, it doesn't show up
3. the battery won't run down, so it's stuck on and i can't do anything.
any ideas??? please help. i have no idea what to do!!!!!!

I'm not sure the 5Rs apply here. This happens to me every once in a while on my 3G/40GB. Absolutely no response, and no way to reset or restore. But the battery does run down because the screen stays on and I think even the hard drive is spinning. This runs the battery down, it quits, and the screen goes blank. After this, I can plug it in, it starts up again and then recharges. No music or files lost, and it works fine afterwards. I've tried resetting, restoring software, and reloading all the music. Still happens, but only every few months.

  • HT4314 how do I turn off a game after playing so the app won't run down my battery?

How do I turn off a game after playing it so the app won't run down the battery. This has happened 2x and I have had to reset my phone.

To completely close an app (though a lot of apps don't remain active when you switch into a different app or go to the homescreen) : from the home screen (i.e. not with the app that you want to close 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.

  • My iPod battery won't hold it charge??

My iPod 4th generation won't hold it's charge it is only 15 months old

Just what battery life are you getting?
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Unresponsive, frozen iPod. Won't reboot, unrecognized by computer.

There was a static discharge when I picked up my ipod and the image on the screen froze shortly after. Rebooting doesn't work, nor does plugging the ipod into my computer. I had no problems doing either before.
What's the matter? Is it ruined?

Try giving it some time, and then going for the reset again. If it still doesn't work, let the battery run all the way out, plug into your computer tomorrow, and start the charge. Then, if your computer recognizes it (it probably will) restore it.
If your computer doesn't recognize it tomorrow, ask again and someone with more arcane knowledge will almost certainly have more info for you.

  • Old Ipod Software won't run iTunes 7

So I am getting ready to fly home and I had gotten a brand new ipod ( I had an old 80 gig video and got a new one!)
so I install the new Itunes 7.1 ( after uninstalling the old iTunes of course) and it tells me that it cannot update iTunes because of the Ipod software and to uninstall the software and try again.
I have uninstalled everything but when I click to uninstall the Ipod MAIN thing off of my add and removes programs.. it won't uninstall.
    What's going on?

uninstall the Ipod MAIN thing off of my add and removes programs.. it won't uninstall.
if Add/Remove won't let you remove a version of the iPod Software, download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. use it to remove the installation configuration of any entries called "ipod for windows [date]" or "ipod updater [date]".

restart the PC. does an itunes install go through properly after that?

  • IPod Touch won't shut down

every time I try to shut it off it powers down and a few seconds later it starts back up.
i've restored it twice and forcing it to shut down by holding the home and sleep button but it just keeps turning back on.

Restored the touch and the top "on/off" button still doesn't work. Weird. Still not sure if it is related to the update 3.1.3 or if my hardware coincidentally went at the same time. If anyone else out there with a 1st gen touch has a similar problem with "shutting down" their ipod touch please let me know.

  • IPod touch won't power down

Am simply trying to shut Down to restart.  It will not do so.  Any suggestions?

Presumably the iPod is not responding when you press and hold the On/Off - Sleep/Wake switch for 5-10 seconds?
If this does not work then try resetting the iPod: To reset iPod touch, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • My Ipod volume won't turn down.  What can I do to get it to turn down?

My IPod Nano (generation 5) will no longer allow me to adjust my volume.  I can't get it to turn down.  What can I do?

    Setting the Maximum Volume Limit
You can set a limit for the maximum volume on iPod nano and assign a combination to prevent the setting from being changed.
To set the maximum volume limit for iPod nano:
1 Choose Settings > Playback > Volume Limit. The volume control shows the current volume.
2 Use the Click Wheel to select the maximum volume limit.
3 Press the Center button to set the maximum volume limit.
4 If you don’t want to require a combination to change the maximum volume, choose Done.
See Page 45 of the User Guide,,, Volume Limit...

  • I can't reset my iPod it won't scroll down what do I do

Whenever I try to do something with my iPod I have to double tap the screen I want to reset it but I can't scroll down in my settings

You have the accessibility VoiceOver feature turned on.
Triple click the home button and try going to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn VoiceOver off. You may have to use three fingers to scroll the screen to get there. If problems see the following for how to turn off via iTunes:

  • IPOD Setup won't run

    Hi all,
I got a new Shuffle as a present and set it up to charge this afternoon. I'm two hours into the charge (yes the orange light is blinking and my PC recognizes that "new hardware" is attached) and the Setup hasn't run. How do I get this to happen? Thanks!

Assuming you've connected it to a high speed USB port. Do you have itunes already installed on your computer? You may want to do that first.

  • How can I prevent my iPod nano from turning on by itself and running down the battery?

I will arrive at my desk in the morning, stop the podcast I'm listening to, notice by the "play" button appearing on the screen and that absence of audio in my ears that the podcast has actually stopped, hold the big oval button down until the screen goes dark, and set my iPod down on the desk. Every now and again (maybe twice a week) I'll catch the iPod playing. It's usually off playing music (i.e. it's somehow navigated away from the podcast I've been listenting to and ended up in a music shuffle somewhere), and it will continue playing until the battery runs down or until I happen to notice it and turn it off. Doesn't only happen at work, happens anywhere...home, car. Result is that once or twice a week I go to use the iPod and the battery has completely run down.
How can I prevent my iPod nano from turning on by itself?

    Unplug the headphones.

  • HT4972 After upgrading to ISO 5.1.1 the battery is running down twice faster compare before

After upgrading to ISO 5.1.1 the battery life is running down twice faster compare before, any solution?thank you

I have had the same problem but I seem to be getting somewhere to fixing it!!! My battery was going down at 20% an an hour now its 10% with constant use and 5 in standby !!! So improvement all round
First I did a restore then I drained the battery i started to charge it and when it came on I turned the phone off completely and let it charge to 100% I then left it for a couple of hours on charge at 100. I saw no improvement after 1st drain so I repeated the drain battery and charge steps again with the phone turned off when charging and have seen a very big improvement. I am going to do it again tonight and hopefully problem solved!!!!
The next issue is iMessage as that's playing up and wifi drop out
    Good luck

My ipod touch won't recharge after I let it run all the way down.  It shows an empty battery with a tiny bit of red, and a spiky unblinking circle on the batery.  I can't turn it off or slide the slider.  I tried to charge it for 8 hours and nothing.
