Frozen ipod touch 2G - BUT iTunes can send it files

I have a 2G touch that was having problems. It would freeze at the apple logo during startup. I tried the reset, but it didn't work. So I tried a restore.
I connected it to my computer and iTunes recognized it - so I did a restore as I saw many suggestions in the forums for this problem. The touch went through the restore process and I then set it up as a new iPod.
I transferred a couple files to it and then disconnected it from my computer. (While transferring files, iTunes said it was syncing, but the iPod just showed the white startup logo).
Now when I turn the iPod on, it hangs at the logo for about 5 minutes and then the twirly 'wait' icon thingy starts swirling on the logo for another 5 minutes. Then the whole thing shuts down completely and starts this again - over and over. I have connected to multiple computers and iTunes sees the iPod and the files I put on it. I have also tried restoring multiple times.
Also, I'm running iTunes 8.0.1.11, in Windows Vista and have iPod touch software version 2.2.1
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

You can try the following to see if you can get it working again:
Make sure your iPod is not plugged in to your computer to start.
1. Turn if off - hold the Sleep/Wake button until you see the red slider and turn it off. (you may not be able to do this given it's state)
2. Start iTunes on your computer
3. Press the Home button and keep holding it while you plug your iPod in. Continue to hold it until iTunes recognizes it as an iPod in recovery mode.
4. Follow the directions in iTunes and do not unplug it until you get the final "sync complete" message.

The iPod has no native texting capability. It can send/receive messages to other suitably equipped Apple devices Via iMessage. To text to non-Apple devices, you will need to download a text App from the App Store.

  • I have the iPod Touch 3G but iTunes won't recognize it when I connect to my Windows 8 computer

So I have the iPod Touch 3G (5.1.1 version) and I had just recently updated my iTunes library to the 11.1.4 version. Ever since, every time I connect my iPod to my computer (I have Windows 8), my computer recognizes it but my iTunes does not. How can I fix this problem? I really hope this version of iTunes is not compatible with my ancient iPod because I really don't have money to go out and buy a newer iPod. It doesn't have to do with the amount of storage in it because I have the 32GB version and I have 16.8GB available. If anyone could help me out, I'd really appreciate it.

  • HT1478 Hi, I want to partition my Ipod Touch so that I can transfer music files to this partition for download to car. Attached Ipod to PC, but coudn't see in Disk Management. Then selected Manually manage Music and Video but still can't see??

I want to transfer music from my Ipod Touch to my car. I found out that I had to partition the Ipod to do this. I attached it to my PC with the USB cable but couldn't see it in the Disk Manager window. Googled why not and saw that I had to select Manually Videos in the Summary section on Itunes. This was already ticked off (selected) and still can;t see the Ipod icon in Disk Manager. What else can I do to partition this Ipod?
    Thanks in anticipation ...

iTunes Match on your computer can give you the same higher quality files.
Run iTunes on your computer.  Show your music library by Song in list view.  Add the columns for Bit Rate, Kind, and iCloud Status to the list view.
Any song that is shown as Matched for iCloud Status, that is NOT already 256 kbps (or higher) for Bit Rate can be downloaded from iCloud at 256 kbps AAC.  For example, if you have an old album from a music CD that you ripped years ago at 128 kbps MP3, and it is "matched" by iTunes Match, you can replace the lower quality files you have now with 256 kbps Match AAC audio file (which is shown for Kind).
To do so, select the song, or a set of songs, on the library list.  Press Delete.  Confirm you want to delete the song (but do NOT check the box to delete song from iCloud) and choose to move song file to the Trash.  The songs remain on your iTunes library list, with a "cloud" download button next to the song name.
Click that button to download the song from iCloud.  Because the song is Matched, you get the replacement as a 256 kbps AAC audio file, instead of the original 128 kbps MP3 file (or whatever lower quality format it was before).
You can go through your iTunes music library, and replace lower quality Matched songs with higher quality versions, thanks to iTunes Match.

  • I am trying to install the Firefox Sync add-on on my desktopin order to install Firefox on my ipod touch 4g but I can't locate the link to create an ID, password & secret phrase.Where is this ?

This is the instruction email i recd:
    Greetings!
Follow these five steps to set up Firefox Home and get access to your desktop Firefox history, bookmarks and even your open tabs on your iPhone:
    1.
Install the free Firefox Sync add-on on your desktop.
Firefox Home uses the sync capabilities from the Firefox Sync add-on to access your Firefox browser information and securely send it to your iPhone.
    2.
Once Firefox restarts, follow the prompts to create an account with both a password and a Secret Phrase.
Firefox Home uses your Secret Phrase to locally encrypt and protect your information.
    3.
Firefox Sync will now begin securely synchronizing your data with our service. This initial synchronization may take up to 20 minutes.
Firefox Sync will only work if you are not in Private Browsing mode. Once your initial synchronization is complete, you'll see a Last Update time in the Tools > Sync menu.
    4.
To complete the setup, on your iPhone enter your account, password and Secret Phrase in the field provided and tap 'Done' on the keypad.
If you're having trouble logging in, click here for help.
    5.
Once complete you will be able to access your desktop bookmarks, history, and open tabs on your iPhone.
If your data is not showing up, click here for help.

Firefox 2.0.0.20 is the last ever version of Firefox for Win98 / SE / ME.
You can get it from here, but you are better off using K-Meleon (derived from Firefox) or Opera instead an old version of Firefox:
    [ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/2.0.0.20/win32/en-US/]
You can try KernelEx to get Firefox 3+ to work, but it would be very slow with an old PC of less than 750Mhz. 3.5 and later supposedly doesn't work.

In the iTunes folder there should be a folder saying "Import to iTunes". It is either in Music/Itunes or Music/Itunes/Media. Put the music you want on your iPod in this folder, start iTunes, and sync.

  • Can send podcast files only to iPod?

Actaully the only purpose I use iTune for is to find and listen to podcasts. I don't use iPod. It looks like iTunes can send podcast files to iPod (synchronize), but what about other devices? As for me, I'm using an iRiver mp3 player, which acts like a usb mass storage drive. When I plug the player in, Windows Media Player detects it and shows sync menu. But iTunes doesn't seem to do anything. So the bottom line is only iPod is compatible with iTunes? Is there any other way to use other mp3 player than iPod in iTunes? What I want to do is just send the downloaded podcast files to the iRiver player automatically.

    Thank you for your answer.
It is a shame that iTunes supports only iPod, since there are many other mp3 players and many people are forced to use iTunes to find and subscribe to podcasts. Yes, I know there are many other podcast download programs, but the problem is there is no other way to find various Japanese podcasts than at apple store->podcasts. I hope I could access that page with normal web browser but apple blocks it. It surely looks like a web page but when I try to go to that page with my web browser, it redirects me to some other page.
So it looks like the only ways are,
1)Manually copy files to my iRiver
    or
2)Find the url of podcasts from iTunes and then paste the url into other podcast download program such as ipodder.

  • How can I sync my ipod touch my old itunes library?

I had orginially synched my itunes library on my work laptop(macbook pro). Now I have changed jobs I would like to synch my ipod touch onto my home laptop (Dell Windows). However, I have already got an itunes library on my home machine (only ten or so songs). I don't want this library anymore, I want to synch the tunes I have got on my ipod touch. I have some purchased tunes but mostly they are from my own CD collection. I also have loads of apps and photos/videos on my itouch. As well as this I need to upgrade my ipod touch to iOS 5.
So...I don't think I can transfer my tunes, apps, photos/videos from my ipod touch to my home computer's itunes library and therefore cannot upgrade my ipod touch to iOS5.
Can anybody help me find a way to transfer my ipod content onto my home laptop? All my content is purchsed from CDs, Appstore, itunes or my own photo video collection.
    Hope someone can help!
    Cheers

  • My wife's nano no longer is recognized by Windows but my ipod touch is?  How can I fix this?

My wife's nano no longer is recognized by Windows but my ipod touch is?  How can I fix this?

My iPod touch is always recognized by my Vista Box...using the same USB cable and port my wife's nano isn't detected anymore.  Since Vista can't see the nano iTunes can't see it either.  When I try my wife's nano I get the message:
"One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows doesn't recognize it.  For assistance in solving this problem, click this message"
I thought her nano wasn't charged enough but I've charged it for hours and this doesn't make a difference.  It used to synch like my ipod touch but it stopped working about a week ago.  My wife's nano still holds songs and works it just can't be recognized by Windows.  I even checked if the Apple Mobile Device app was running and it was and I stopped it and restarted it.  Didn't make any difference.  Any ideas?

  • Hi...My IPod touch was recently stolen. I have an Itunes account..can I retreive the serial number of my IPod Touch from my Itunes account? If, so...how may I do this. If I have the serial number, the local police can check the serial numbers at pawn shop

Hi...My Ipod Touch was recently stolen. In order to help the local police deptartment I need to supply a seria number for the Ipod. Of course, I did not wrtie down the serial number, but I have used he device on my Itunes account. My question: Is there a way to retreive the serial nuber of my Ipod touch from my Itunes account? Thanks you all....

    Yes. See bold below
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.
