Frozen iPod touch with non-working lock button.

My daughter's iPod has frozen on a web page. The lock button doesn't work so she uses the assistive touch but even that won't work and can't do a hard reset...help,

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
When it says place the iPod in recovery mode,
Place the iPod in recovery mode using one of these programs:
For PC
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
or
http://joshuabailey1997.wordpress.com/2010/09/02/recboot-v1-3/
If necessary:
Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot
and
RecBoot tip
RecBoot may have problems on 64X windows, then try:
Tenorshare ReiBoot – Enter & Exit iPhone, iPad, iPod Recovery Mode with a Single Click
For MAC or PC
The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
Installs blootware on PC too
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod Touch turns off when lock button is pressed.

My father accidentally put my dog's cage on top of my iPod Touch...surprisingly it was fine. Or so I thought. A few minutes later the volume started acting strange, which I think was a problem with the button. Somehow I fixed that after playing around with it. But when I pressed the lock button, the iPod turned off, and wouldn't turn back on, as if it had no battery life whatsoever. When I got home, I plugged it in, and thankfully it responded. I thought it was fine, until I tried to press the lock button again. It completely dies every time the button is pressed. Which I suppose is alright, as long as I never press that button again but that's rather annoying. Any ideas on what to do with that?

Sounds like you have a internal connection problem in the iPod. I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of a local Apple store.

  • Is there any way that you can reset an iPod Touch without using the lock button?

  • How do I access notes on an iPod Touch with a broken home button?

Hey guy, I have an older iPod Touch, and I am trying to gain access to about 800 quotes I had in the notes. The iPod let me get the first (latest) four, then blacked and exited the notes app. Now, it will no longer work, unless I try to add a  new note.  The home button is no longer working correctly, so I cannot reset it. Is there any way I can get Apple to email the quotes or something? I still have access to the settings, so I know version, model, serial number and all that. Any suggestions?

    - Restore another iPod, iPad or iPhone from your backup. Maybe Apple can do that at one of their Genius Bar

  • Frozen iPod Touch with spinning wheel over the apple...

    Hi!
My iPod Touch is first generation, 8GB.  It's been freezing up over the last couple of days.  I took it to the genius bar yesterday, where it was restored to factory settings and everything seemed fine.  Today, it's freezing up again.  I've turned it off completely, and on again.  The red slider bar does not appear.  It's hooked up to the computer now, with the white apple logo showing, and a spinning white wheel over the apple.
Any thoughts on how to restart it?
    Thanks!!

Try placing the iPod in recovery mode and then restoring the iPod. For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
However snce it happened after restring to factory defaults, you may have a hardware problem.
If you restored from backup last time, I would not do that again since you may have some corruption that is causing the problem.

  • Charging problem leads to ipod touch 4g non working.

Ok, so one day i used my ipod for an entire day. I decided to charge it at night (A routine that i always do). When i started to charge it, for maybe the first ten minutes, it was stuck in the red level of charging. It was charging. I checked on it seemed like it was charging normally but it seemed to be charging, then not charging, then charging again. It kept on doing this for a bit. So I went on the Apple Forums. I found the thing that i was hoping to see! Another person with the same problem as me. It said that one day it just did this stop charging and going chargin thing. So i scrolled down. I saw the first suggestion there and decided to do it. It said to turn off the ipod, I did it. Then it said to press the home and standby button for not that long until the apple logo dissapeared. I did this. I pressed the two buttons. The logo screen with the apple, stating that the ipod was turning on, appeard for about two seconds, then dissapeared. And that is the last time i have been able to use my ipod in the past 4 days. I didn't take it to seriously at first, but now that it is at the fourth day, its kind of scaring me. I mean, I paid about 340 or something for the 32 gigabyte version, and expect it to last atleast 3 years. Its only lasted 2. Now, im not to scared about this. I mean, I did what the person in the forum asked. I guess i didn't see some secret way of turning it back on. Oh, and i also think that my cord might have had something to do with it. When i got to school, i asked a friend to plug there ipod into my charger, and it didnt charge there ipod. So i dont know if my ipod is toast, if i gotta take it in to the apple customer service thing or what. All i know is that i did the thing that the guy in the forum asked. Now, i know that u might be thinking for me is to go back to the forum and relocate the forum thing, but i cant Ive tried and searched and searched. Ive looked through my history and cant find it. So if anyone has an answer, or has a link to a helpfull forum, or the same forum, please PLEASE HELPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Sincerely, kanertazer

Lol. Sorry, not to scare you, but I had to get it replaced from apple Ya turns out that even if it's their problem(which it definitly is), I had to pay 110 dollars to get a replacement unit. They just give you an Ipod. No chord or headphones. Not even in a box.
To do this, go to your closest apple store, make an appointment and they will have to get an exact copy of your ipod back from the factory. In your case, if it doesnt work, it might suck a bit to pay apple more money for another ipd considering its quite new and that the battery is still alright. Atleast for me, my battery was kindy bad at that point so ya. It wasn't to to bad. But to be honest, TWO years ain't what these things are to last for.
My friend has a 2nd gen ipod and has had it for almost five years. The battery's crap, but he just listents to music anyway.
Anyway, hope ur ipod gets better

If you forgot your screen-lock passcode then:
Connect the iOS device to your computer and restore via iTunes. Place the iPod in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

Its possibly because its only a 1g iPod. I suggest you either get a newer iPod or bring it to an Apple store and see what they can do.

  • Ipod touch no longer working with isimple device?

I have a 4th gen Ipod touch that was working just fine with my isimple device in my vehicle until I believe I updated the ipod to the latest firmware. I now recieve a message saying device is not compatible with Ipod, Is there anyway I can rollback to the previous version which I believe was 6.1.2? Thanks!!

Downgrading the iOS is not supported by Apple.
    Sometimes this works:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
Go to the devices support site and see if they have anything. Maybe a firmware update is available. Otherwise you will have to wait for a firmware or iOS update.

  • TS2634 After I updated my iPod touch with iOS6, it does not work with my Logitech docking station. Is this a problem with iOS6?

Does updating the 4th generation iPod touch with iOS6 keep it from working with a Logitech docking station/boombox? Nothing is wrong with the boombox.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
iOS: How to back up your data and set up as a new device
If it still does not work that means that the update broke compatibility. That happens sometimes. You will have to wait for an update to either iPod's iOS or the dock's firmware.
