Frozen iPod when using Pioneer Car Kit

Up till tonight, my ipod has always worked fine with my cars Pioneer headunit and ipod connect equipment but its now decided to freeze and won't let me do anything. The screen has completely locked and I've tried doing the restart procedure but nothing happens. It is less than a year old and so wouldn't have thought that would be a problem. When it's plugged into my car, it comes up saying an error on the headunit screen, when I plug it into my computer, nothing on ipod happens, doesn't recognise anything being connected, and the screen has just stayed the same with the Pioneer logo. Any thoughts?

i hv a new '10 jeep commander w/ uconnect and hv the iphone/ipod connector factory installed in the glove box. all worked great before i put the ios4 update on my 3gs. before the update all my ipod stuff on the phone was all on my touch screen. now gone:( will only play the last song that was on when i used the ipod part of the iphone and i get the message this doesn't work w/ iphone, instead of the airplane mode message that has appeared when i plugged in forever.
hope there is others w/ this. apple better get an update for the update.

  • N73 and voice dialing using Bluetooth car kit

    Hi,
I have a N73 using v3.0638.0.0.01, its a vodafone phone. I have it set up with my CK-7W car kit and it works great except when I want to make a call. If I try and use voice dialling through the car kit it never finds my contact and simply say "no match found". If I put the phone directly in front of me and oice dial using the car kit it works.
Everything worked fine until the firmware was updated and I have restred my contacts from backup. The problem here is not that voice dialling isn't working, per se, but that it wont interact with the car kit since the firmware was updated.
    Any ideas folks.

I have an iPhone 3G 16gig. I just bought a Kensington Liquid AUX Bluetooth Car Kit, paired everything up, and tested it out in the garage. The only downside (at that point) was that the included remote only controlled start and stop, not forward and back tracks. Later I tested it on the road and thought my ears were playing tricks on me when I heard the music changing pitch. Once I figured out it wasn't me, I changed tracks and even tried streaming radio and still, pitch up/pitch down, song faster/song slower. I noticed it got markedly worse when I tried to use another program while having the ipod play in the background, which makes me think it is a hardware issue; possibly the processor speed or "RAM" or however iPhones work. I am planning on trying it with my ipod and a bluetooth attachment I have for it to see if the music distorts. If it is the hardware on the phone, looks like apple forgot to mention as a selling point that the faster innards are needed for true A2DP stereo bluetooth! Another part of their brilliant scheme I guess!

  • Keeping zen micro backlight on when using the car charg

Is there any way to keep the backlight on, when using the car charger. I have my zen micro hooked up the my car stereo. It would be nice to be able to see the screen at night. The lights for the buttons stay lit, but not for the screen.

RMSkater: There's no "always on" setting. This is for good reason I think as the type of light Creative use will wear out with a few thousand hours of use, which will get eaten up relati'vely quickly if "always on". At least I believe that's what Creative have said in the past.

  • 6233 call waiting tone when in a car kit

Can anyone help with this one? when on a call with a 6233 there is an obvious audible tone to alert you to the fact that you have another call coming in. However when in a car kit this tone is not obvious and calls are being missed altogether. Is there any way to resolve this? Can I get an audible tone to alert me to calls. Your help would be appreciated.

  • Cover that will work on touch while using tomtom car kit

    Hi,
JUst got a Tomtom car kit, and trying to find if there is a cover that will fit the touch while its in the tomtom dock, as don't really want to have to keep taking my cover of every time I want to use the tomtom.
    thanks
    Mark

    Hi illaass,
I tried the suggestions and they do work for Tom Tom car kit.
I had to close the car kit application and restart it until it showed as docked but then worked fine in navfree.
I also disabled wifi on the iPod touch so that it had to use gps
I have now purchased uk Ireland tomtom application.
The palm Bluetooth GPS does not appear in the devices list still though.
Are there any applications that can be bought to support this as car kit is not any good when on foot?
I do have a USB power pack but that means carrying power pack and car kit with iPod docked in it.

  • IPod Touch (2G) TomTom Car Kit Issues

I have an iPod Touch (2G) and have been successfully using the TomTom Car Kit for all my navigation needs for the last 14 months.
Recently, around the same time they announced a "mandatory update to restore GPS signal" on their website, my TomTom app stopped receiving a GPS signal.  Now when I contact TomTom support, they tell me that all their kit does is amplify the iPod's internal GPS receiver (???) and that this is an iPod issue.  I have reset my iPod and reinstalled the app with no success.
    Am I missing something?

There is no GPS circuits on the iPod touch. Period. For location the iPod uses the location of nearby wifi routers that are in Apple's database. See:
    iOS 5: Understanding Location Services
Therefore what you were told does not sound reasonable for the iPod.
You are using the accessory that does include a GPS receiver, right?

  • Ipod Adapter for Pioneer Car Stereo

Hi there experts and wannabe experts.
I just got a new Pioneer car deck with a USB iPod connecter. When I connect my iPod (which is 4-5 years old) an error message appears. According to the manual, my Ipod is too old. So the good people at Pioneer want me to buy what appears to me to be an external drive that I would basically transfer all of my music over to. The price is around $130. This seems ridiculous to me and I am thinking there must be some other kind of adapter out there. I'd rather get a new Ipod than that dumb Pioneer dealie. BUT, it seems kinda stupid because we have two older Ipods with tons of memory and they both work great.
    Any ideas?
    Much appreciated!

You need to be more specific. If you're just looking for some kind of interface to work with a radio he/she already has, then I would need to know what kind of radio it is, or if it is a factory radio, I would need to know Make, model and year of the vehicle to give you some ideas. If you are looking for a new radio, then most of your aftermarket radio manufacturers make iPod compatible radios that simply need to have a cable added and you can plug an iPod directly into the new radio and control it with the radio. This allows text to be shown on the radio display as well as charges the iPod. I currently work with Alpine and Kenwood and both of them offer a full speed interface. Full speed is kind of important as some of the older interfaces were slow and cumbersome to operate.
Give me a little more info. and I'm sure I can help you out.

  • Songs pausing when plugged into car kit

I have the Monster iCarPlay Wireless Plus, and within the past week (last iTunes update, maybe?) whenever my iPod is plugged into the car kit, it'll pause playback whenever I pick it up to change songs or to see what just came on, or even when i hit a bump or corner too fast. It's very, very sensitive, not to mention irritating. What's going on?

It should ask once when you connect the phone. It will ask again if power is removed and restored to the iPhone. If it is asking more often than described there's something wrong with the adapter or the power source. there is no need to switch to airplane mode unless the phone is causing interference to the car's sound system.

  • What files can go on IPod when used as External Disk?

I have done appropriate research, and I know how to use IPod 60GB Video to store and download data files, but I am unable to find out what file types it will accept. Are there any exceptions?
I ask this because I just learned that "Notes" will only accept .txt files and not Microsoft Word document file types.
For example, can I drag PDF files into it? Would I even be able to see them on display?
    Thanks!!!!

The reason notes only accept txt files is because they can be read on the ipod, and you can save a .txt file out of microsoft word by the way. When you use the ipod as external Disk, that's exactly what that is, an external disk, and you cannot see those files on the ipod. All you can do with external disk is store files (any kind) and move them to another computer.

  • No Source Signal, intermittently when using Graphics Cars

I've just bought a new HP 23xi monitor and am very happy with it, aside from one thing.
When I connect my Graphics Card to the monitor (with HDMI, DVI or VGA) 95% of the time I will be presented with the message 'No Source Signal'. After some unplugging replugging, the monitor will normally display the image.
If I connect the monitor to the VGA or HDMI port on my motherboard however, it will work first time everytime. I've checked and the issue is not with my graphics card as it works with other monitors just fine and was working only minutes before I changed to this monitor.
Has anyone encountered something similar? If so, please do say how you fixed it. I'm leaning towards a software issue or some form of incompatability between my monitor and graphics (if sucha  thing even exists)
    Many thanks for any input.

Hmm are you using the graphic card driver from Toshiba driver page?
Such driver is a little bit different from other original nVidia drivers because its modified for mobile usage. It contains some kind of overheating protection.
In case of higher GPU temperature, such driver would clock down the GPU performance in order to increase the GPU temp.

  • Dead ipod when using 2nd laptop to charge

    1. Using the USB port on my laptop (Dell Latitude 420) to charge my 5G 80GM ipod has worked fine for the past 30 days since new.
    2. Switched to my wife's Dell Inspiron 5150 to charge it and now it's dead. I started out with the flashing white screen every 5-7 seconds and then absolutely nothing.
    3. I reconnected to my laptop and its still dead. iTunes does not recognize that the ipod is connected.
    I have considered:
    A. 5Rs, but don't think this is an option given that the ipod must be charged first and all indications are that it is not charging.
    B. The toggle of the Hold button followed by the menu/select button exercise.
    C. Ran the diagnostics in iTunes - redlight/failure in the iTunes box.
    Any help appreciated.

Have you left it pluged in for an hour, I'd hate to say it but you may need to send it off to get it fixed.

  • Messed up photos on ipod when using vista

i have a 5thGen ipod and my sister has a new nano. we both had our own librarys with our own photos on them from our own laptops. however we recently got a new pc with vista. because it had a large harddrive on it we decided to merge or libiarys together on this pc and update our ipods on it. the photos for my ipod are from a number of different cameras which are organised using an adobe photoshop album. my sisters are all from the same camera and are stored stored in the myphotos folder in windows. the photos on both used to display fine using xp but now most of the photos are messed up on both my 5thgen and my sister nano. usually the colours are messed up but some display black or white screens, some are upside down and some cut off setions of the image. the images are also being displayed in a very random order. before it was date order on mine and file name on my sisters.

If you weren't so lazy you would have done a search here and found the blurred photo problem is in several posts and no solution was found.
You can tell I'm being sarcastic here.
Have you upgraded to version 7.2 and tried resyncing your photos?

  • Slow reacting iPod while using with car radio

In December 2008 I bought a new car (SEAT Ibiza) with an addon. The radio was able to control my iPod by connecting to the multi socket. At that time my iPod was running firmware version 2.x.x and everything work perfectly.
But after I upgraded to firmware version 3.x.x the radio has big problems controlling the iPod. Everything runs really slow and I cannot browse songs and almost everything else. The only thing that still works (although with a lack) is starting a playlist. Playing music also works. So if I disconnect the iPod and setup it up for playing what I want and then reconnect it - it will play without problems.
Han anyone seen any behaviour like this and have you a solution as how I might get the link working again?

    Hi Sparky67,
Thank you for your reply, I feared something like this. I have just had my car serviced and asked if there was an update for my radio. Unfortuanately there was not any. So I must consider downgrading.
If I remember correctly the genious function was not a part of the 2.x.x firmware. Do you know if I remember correctly?
    /Carsten

  • Audio Signal not as strong when used in Car w/ Audio Jack

I don't know if this is a hardware I-pod nano limitation or if all I-pods do this. I have a JVC car stereo with a aux jack in the front that I can connect directly to my nano. The JVC stereo can also play MP3 CDs. Now when I play the same MP3s from my nano, they aren't nearly as loud or as powerful as the MP3 CDs I play from my stereo. My Nano has EQ set to off, with Soundcheck Off, I-pod Volume all the way up. My JVC is set to EQ preset Rock, same volume level etc, when comparing them. Since it's a straight connection I didn't think there would be any change in the signal, I mean in theory it should play exactly as my MP3 CD would, right?
Granted I didn't buy a Nano to play in my car, I bought it mostly to work out with and for train rides in the city. But still I'd like to be able rock out in my car with it too. Is there something I'm missing?

I have noticed too that the nano doesnt have enough power to produce a good enough signal to connect to some external stereos.

  • Sleek xfers like IPOD when using multi pc

does the sleek xfer files like the ipod... as in, if you sync with PC # and then sync with your laptop or PC #2, do you have to delete your playlist and music thats playable (not using as a flash dri've option)? Or is the Sleek like the Neeon, whereas you can sync the player on multiple computers w.o deleting your playlist... I like to travel between my home pc and my dorm laptop.
    Thanks

It depends on what software you use I would imagine.
Assuming the MTP version of the Sleek, I understand with WMP it syncs both playlists from WMP and the content. I'm not sure if the playlists are a one way sync.
There is of course other software like Creative's MediaSource (and maybe other software that Creative ship with it).
