Frozen keypad

My blackberry curve started going slow then some of my keypad buttons stopped working. Have tried to reboot by taking battery out etc... Doesn't work. Can't do soft reset cause delete button doesn't work.Any ideas

Most often, keypad issue arise from moisture damage to the device, and it doesn't have to be exactly dumped in water or liquid.
Even sitting on a bathroom counter during a hot steamy shower or bath can cause keyboard and trackball problems UNTIL properly dried out. It really is more common than you think.
1. Remove the battery immediately!! Do not attempt to turn on your BlackBerry.
2. Let the device dry in a warm, dry place for 3 to 5 days* (see below)
3. DO NOT "check it each day" by placing the battery in. Leave it be to dry completely. This takes time. Replacing the battery to check it can only damage it more (moisture + electrical current = disaster).
4. If the device is warm after the drying period, allow it to cool to room temperature before placing the battery back in.
Suggestions on drying your BlackBerry in a warm place (open, with the battery out):
*Place the BB in a container of dry UNcooked rice, and then you might also place it in any of the locations mentioned below.
*On top of any dry heat emitting electronic component: TV cabinet or CRT, LCD, cable TV/Satellite converter box or plasma monitor
*On the dashboard of your car on a sunny day

E71 Frozen Keypad! Totally unresponsive

Hi
Yesterday I was using my Nokia E71 as usual. Put it on the side, come to use it an hour later, and the keypad wouldn't work. Nothing, nada!
The only button that will work is the off button on top of the phone. Luckily there is no pin code on it! Ive tried starting the phone with no memory card, no sim card etc but still nothing.
Yesterday I could connect the phone to my PC via Nokia PC Suite and still make and receive calls and send and receive texts, but now ive started the phone up without the sim in, whenever i put the sim in now and start it up, it asks "Do you want to start the phone up in offline mode" and of course i cant answer yes or no because none of the keys work!
Anyone have any idea if its worth taking it round a few phone shops to see if it can be fixed, or would it cost more to be fixed than the phone is worth?
If anyone has any other idea's, I'd appreciate it.

I'm currently have the 200.xxx.xxx firmware, I tried to update the firmware from 200.xxx to 400.xxx but my model doesn't have the option to upgrade, I think is something related to model and the mobile operator. I'm going try to update the firmware by myself because the nokia customer service is useless. I'm very disappointed with nokia.

Keypad is frozen

The entire keypad on my BB Curve 8520 has frozen. I can hear that I am getting messages, calls etc but am unable to access the phone. I plugged it in to my computer to update it to see if that would help and it briefly allowed me access but has now frozen again. I plugged it in again to see if it would unlock again but it didn't work the second time. Please help if you can!

I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:
KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode
It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.

Centro Keypad Frozen - Help!

Hello Palm Forums -
I have a Centro with Verizon... I went to make a call today and keypad was frozen. No buttons work. However touch screen does work. Tried to hotsynk and nothing happened. Tried hard reset and when asked "erase all data?" palm ring dosnt work so i cant press up to choose yes or no.
please advise or point me in the right direction.

I'm out of ideas. Since you can't do a Hard Reset, you can't determine if it's a software problem. If the phone is under warranty, I'd return it ASAP to Verizon.
I would have suggested downloading the "Hard Reset" program from palmpowerups.com, but you can't Hotsync... BTW, what happens when you try to HotSync? Since you can still use the screen, what happens when you Open the Hotsync app, and tap the big Hotsync icon in the middle? What happens when you tap the Hotsync button on the cable?
Can you get to the Prefs icon and check all the Keyguard settings?

Keypad and trackball frozen

Hi,
I am having a very strange issue with my blackberry.
Essentially, the phone will allow me to turn it on by pressing the power button. However, once it's on, the phone will not respond to any of the keypad buttons (including the power button - in order to turn it back off, I need to pull the battery). Nor is it responding when I move or press the trackball. When a phone call comes in, it rings, but I can't answer it because it doesn't respond when I press the answer button.
I've checked whether it got wet - it didn't.
I've left the battery out for days. That didn't help.
I've updated to the latest version of the software (it still connects to my desktop software without any problem). That didn't help.
I tried clearing all the data - didn't help.
Anyone have any other ideas for me to try?

If water goes inside the phone then various types of issues can arise. Without doing any delay you should remove the battery and put the on hot surface (on under sun) for fairly long time so that the device can be dried down (as much as possible). Only then you can try using the device.
If inconsistent behavior can be observed the you should consider having a new device.

Blackberry Curve 9330 Keypad Frozen

I have a Blackberry Curve 3G 9330 that's been working fine for the entire 19 months that I've had it & I have not had any problems with it at all until earlier this week when suddenly my entire keypad quit working. My phone still works and it takes phone calls, text, e-mails, etc. but I am unable to answer or do anything on my phone because of none of the buttons on the keypad, buttons on the side, mouse track, or etc is working. Has anybody else had this to happen and know a fix for it? Just curious on what steps I should take next other than taking it to Verizon. Thanks!

I have a 9330 also, but I haven't had any problems with the keypad, though I've only had the phone for just a few weeks. I upgraded from an older Blackberry Curve to an HTC Rhyme, hated the phone and sent it back because I decided I wanted a new Blackberry instead. I was just wondering if you've figured out how to download ringtones from the phone itself? My older blackberry curve had a VZW tones icon in my system tray where I could go download things, but I dont seem to have one on this phone. If you get ringtones, where do you get them at? I'm sorry I couldn't help you with your problem, except maybe send it back and see if they will send you another phone since yours isn't working properly. Yours is the first post I saw about owning a 3G 9330, and was just curious if you knew about the ringtones. Any input would be helpful on this Thank you!

Please try a Battery pull restart , remove the battery while your device is Powered On , wait for a min. then re-insert it back. After reboot , try it again to see if your trackpad works .

Phone got dropped, SIM Locked, screen frozen

Phone got dropped GRRRRRR, Sim now locked. I Know the code but the screen has frozen at max enlargement so I can't get access to keypad. Have tried removing SIM and rebooting numerous times. No luck. Can someone help? S

- Hard Reset to get the phone responding (Home Button + Sleep/Wake Button)
- With the iPhone Zoomed get 3 finger and double tap the screen and then slide down the phone. SHOULD zoom out. If not then connect to iTunes and 'Configure Univeral Access' to NEITHER in the Summary Tab.
- Enter in the SIM Pin

Basic troubleshooting steps described in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore. Try them.

I followed all the steps but it said that itouch was unable to connect to itunes because a passcode needs to be entered first, but I'm unable to enter the passcode because the itouch is disabled and all I see is the red message Ipod is disabled. Frozen screen on one contact - cannot exit, or make calls

I'm using Iphone 3G. I can use all aspects of the phone except it freezes on phone. It has frozen on one of my contacts so I don't have access to keypad to make calls. The only way I can make a call is to make a new contact and phone that way.
To access my messages I have to use a different telephone and call my number.

Have you tried restoring it in iTunes?

6131 - Keypad inoperative, cannot enter PIN code

After stopping an alarm on my 6131 I noticed a couple of minutes later that there was a flashing alarm indication on the screen. I tried to clear this alarm with the keypad but the keypad was frozen. I turned off the phone and on turning it back on the keypad is inoperative and I cannot enter the PIN code.

Mouse seems frozen

on my macbook i am having an issue where when i turn my computer on the mouse is frozen in the top corner and will not move at all. After I hold the power button to restart it the same frozen screen comes back,

HT201401 IPhone 4 frozen on recent call page.

My iPhone 4 seems to be frozen on the recent calls page. All other apps appear to be functioning and I can receive call but I cannot leave the recent calls page to pull up the keypad nor my contacts. I've tried turning the phone completely off and plugging it into the computer to no avail. Any ideas?

Reset the device by pressing and holding the home and power buttons for 15-20 seconds until the white Apple logo appears.
