Frozen mini iPod

I've had my iPod for a few months now. When it works it is wonderful.
The problem I now have is that, after an update it shows the tick to say I can unplug it. Then I unplug it and it remains frozen. I can't reset it or anything.
When I reconnect it it is clearly alive as I can download, reformat, repartition etc.etc.. However, the moment I click to disconnect it - and wait to see the tick saying that it is OK to unplug, it freezes. I can't play anything.
What is going on???

I believe that if you hold the menu and the select buttons down at the same time for about three seconds the mini will reset itself. It is in the directions that came with the mini. I had to look it up once when my mini froze up.

  • Transfering music from mini ipod to a nano

i just bought the nano and would like to transfer my music form my mini ipod to the nano. i can only transfer 1/2 of my music. i'm also using a new computer to do this. why can't i get all my music?

Are you transferring these tracks back from your Mini
to iTunes and are the ones that transfer purchased
tracks? The transfer of non purchased content such
as songs imported from CD is designed by default to
be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a
number of third party utilities that you can use to
retrieve the music files and playlists from your
iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of
functionality and some will transfer movies, videos,
photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at
the web pages and documentation, this is just a small
selection of what's available, they are generally
quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of
some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded

    iDump Windows Only
    YamiPod Mac and
    Windows Versions

There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's
hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on
Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and
won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's
available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off

My songs are currently on my mini and in itunes, but when i try to transfer them to my new nano, it will not work. The only songs it will transfer are the songs that I copied from cd's. I also have a new computer that I am using, does this have anything to do with it? If I use my old computer would it work. From you response, it sounds like there is a solution w/ the link that you provided. Correct? Thank you for your feedback.

My mini ipod appears off and not respond to any commands when pressed the buttons to reset, apple logo appeared and then the apple support site and it shuts down. already tried all the steps, but none worked, and when I plug it into my computer it does not appear in the iTunes bar. what do I do?

If MacKeeper corrupted the Recovery partition then even I underestimated its potential for damage. Garbage "cleaning" apps will cause misery but I have not found that the Recovery partition to have been affected by using MacKeeper or anything like it. I doubt that it did so, but I have learned not to underestimate the potential for such things to result in system corruption.
Before concluding your Mac has a hardware failure, try booting OS X Internet Recovery by holding command option r on startup (three fingers). That will force your iMac to bypass the Recovery partition altogether, and convey the ability to create a new one.
An Internet connection will be required (wired or wireless).
At the Mac OS X Utilities screen, select Disk Utility. Select your startup volume (usually named "Macintosh HD") and click the Repair Disk button. Describe any errors it reports in red. If Disk Utility reports "The volume Macintosh HD appears to be OK" in green then you can be reasonably (though not completely) assured your hard disk is in good working order.
Assuming the HD remains usable you can then use Disk Utility to erase it. Reinstall OS X, restore your essential software and other files, and don't reinstall the junk.

  • Music not appearing on mini ipod

I bought my mini ipod 2 weeks ago. I loaded one set of music on it fine, but now i've updated my itunes library and am trying to transfer the rest of the music to my mini ipod. When I connect my ipod to the computer(it's set on automatic, but I've tried manual too to no effect) it says its updating music (takes about 45 mins) The updated music is appearing under the ipod in itunes, but it doesn't appear on the actual ipod. I've tried resetting the ipod, restarting my computer, using different USB2 ports etc but nothing works. Can anyone please help?

    Try this;
Go to SETTINGS > MAIN MENU > MUSIC and set it to ON. Then, hit the MENU button several times to get back to the main menu & see if it's there.
You can control what appears in the main menu in this settings menu. Apparently, your ;music' option has been turned off.
    Cheers!

    iTunes returns error...

The computer is connected to the Internet and iTunes can connect to the iTunes Store.

  • Calling all you mini ipod whizzes!! - issues with the exclamation folder!

Please help! My mini ipod won't charge or turn on. It's 18 months old now. It is not on hold, I have tried to reset it, charge it and plug it into my computer, all to na avail. When i plug it into the mains to charge, the apple sign comes up briefly, but then the folder sign comes up. I plugged it into my brothers computer, which has his itunes software on, and it said 'do not disconnect' for a period of time, then got stuck on a tick with 'ok to disconnect' on the screen. Again no luck. I would be really grateful for any help you can give me! I am training to do race for life in a couple of weeks and miss my ipod!!

Your silver bullet of resolving your iPod issue – is to restore your iPod to factory settings.

  • Problems - Original Mini Ipod

I went into the Apple Store In Bloomington MN to have it looked at. About 2 months ago I started having problems with the Mini Ipod. It was playing songs out of tune / scratchy. Almost like you are tuning into a radio station and do not get clear reception.
The Genius at the Apple Store indicated that there was a problem with some pressure points on the front of the Mini outside the control wheel. That she recently received notification that this was a problem recognized by Apple with the original Mini Ipods, but that I was out of warranty so it would not be covered. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Should I resign myself to having to replace it? This really BITES since other then this problem it has worked well.

    Hmm..
You are out of warranty so whatever you decide to do, you are going to have to spend some $$.
I've never heard of such problem before.

  • Question about Mini-iPod being full......

How do you know when your Mini-iPod is full? Will the screen say so? I have a problem with transferring songs and I'm wondering if the iPod being full is the reason why it's not transfering. Right now it's has about 480 songs (it's supposed to hold 1000) and before I upload I always convert them to that other format (I forgot what it's called), not mp3.

Well, you can always check your left space direct from your iPod (Menu/Settings/About) or from iTunes (when sync, on the bottom of the page). I don't know if appears a message when you have no more space...

  • Can you sync movies to old mini iPods?

I have an OLD OLD mini iPod......can I sync a movie to it? It shows I have space, but, when I go through the sync process, it doesn't show up on my mini.
    Tks in advance.

    No.

  • Mini ipod skipping

The music on my mini ipod and on itunes keeps skipping every single song and then goes back to the beginning. I have uninstalled itunes, quicktime and the ipod software and downloaded all of the updated versions needed and it still isn't working.
Do I need to have my ipod serviced?
    What could it be?
    PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

If it says that the ipod cannot be mounted, restart your computer, place the ipod into disk mode (article #93651) while it is not attached to your computer. Then after your computer is booted back up plug the ipod in, then bring up the ipod updater program and attempt to restore the ipod again. This should work for you.
songs skip on the ipod because the ipod and itunes programs installed on the computer are not up to date. The newest itunes is 5.0 and the newest ipod is 2005-09-06. If this isn't what you are using you need to update your software.
