Frozen on Apple logo screen

I reset my iPod Touch by pressing both the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons. The Apple logo appeared as expected, but the iPod stayed frozen on this screen. Every so often the screen briefly "flashes" (like it's about to change to the welcome screen) but then it returns to the Apple screen.
I tried letting the iPod run out of power until the low battery icon appeared. When I connect it to either a Mac or a power supply, and once it charges up enough, the Apple logo appears again and it is frozen.
The iPod does not show up in iTunes. It is a 32Gb 2nd gen iPod Touch running 3.12 (I think) and has LOTS of applications.
Any help greatly appreciated!

Thank you! The recovery procedure you linked to seems to be working, though it was slightly different for me than on the Apple site.
Specifically, when I held the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons, my iPod would eventually return to the Apple logo screen, rather than turning off. I found that if I held both buttons and waited for the screen to briefly go black, I could release the Sleep Wake button, and connect the iPod to my Mac, while continuing to hold the Home button.
It took a few tries, but eventually I got the iTunes dialog box (about recovery mode) and was then able to restore the iPod to its factory settings.
I am in now the midst of restoring my iPod to its most recent backup, and I'm hopeful that you've solved my problem. Many thanks!!

I rebooted mt iPod and now it is stuck on the apple logo screen. when i turn it off it turns right back on without me doing anything and it doesn't show up in itunes. i don't know what to do all the youtube videos don't work and i can't even restore it! HELP!!! I HAVE A MAC and IOS 6.1

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IMac Frozen on Apple Logo Screen at Bootup

Yesterday, I tried to go on Safari and it froze. I tried to soft reboot, and the computer would not let me. I had to hard shut down with the power button. When the screen came back up it was frozen with the Apple logo and progress circle spinning. I had to power off again with the power button. I tried to reboot in Safe Mode but it would not enter Safe Mode; still frozen as before. I tried Command + R to get to the Disk Utility. I ran the Verify Disk and everything was good for HD, no problems. However the system still will not reboot. I then tried to do Verify Permissions and several items came up about the library and printer not matching the settings it should. I clicked the Repair Permissions and it ran through the cycle, but the reboot problem continues. About two weeks ago, my MS Word was reporting errors for space, but the computer is 1TB and I've barely reached 250 GB of data on the system. It was running my Word slow. What next? Any ideas are welcome. Thanks!

You could have a hard drive problem or even though you "THINK" you have only used 250GBs of HDD space something on your Mac has filled up the drive to the point OS X can no longer boot properly because it doesn't have enough space on the drive.
What I would do is install OS X on an external drive and run the system from that drive and do a check of the actual HDD space being used on the internal drive.
One of the things that can fill up a drive is the Time Machine local snapshots. But that is only turned on by default on notebook Mac computers. There are other So Called Cleaning and maintenance apps that can do this also. If you have installed any of them you should remove it, once you get your system running from the internal drive.

  • Ipod Touch frozen at apple logo screen

I try to turn on or reset my ipod and the apple logo appears and nothing happens. The ipod is not being recognized by itunes either? Any suggestions appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Augie

I have now had this freeze problem on two iPhone 3G's and now my iPod Touch 32 GB.
Here is what you have to do.
Plug your Touch into your computer via the USB cable
Now press both the top switch (sleep/wake) button and the home button at the same time. Hold these two buttons down until the iPod Touch powers down and then continue holding both down until the Apple logo reappears (reboot). As soon as the Apple logo reappears let go of the top button and continue holding the home button down for about 10-15 seconds. You will then get a screen that shows a USB cable to be connected to the iPod Touch (it's already connected). Now the iPOd Touch will mount and via iTunes you will get a message to restore.
Restore takes a while so be patient.
This is a huge headache and the worst of it is that if you have an iPhone you lose the use of the phone itself. If you are out and about you cannot restore so you are without a phone!
Hope this works for those of you having problems. Post here if you still have problems.

  • Ipod touch frozen on apple logo screen

I've seen all the posts about restoring and all that, but I don't want to lose my notes and contacts and stuff. Is there any other way??
    Please help. Thank you

It's not jailbroken, and no it won't be recognized. But I was searching around the other discussions here and they say that I should hold the home/power buttons until it turns off then on again, then continue to hold the home buttonuntil itunes recognizes it and tells me to restore.
Are you sure restore won't get rid of my notes?

    if this doesn't work
You can try the step here in this link.

when you're stuck on the apple logo, the operating iOS doesn't load so itunes could not detect the device

  • I was in the middle of updating my iphone 4 (? version 10.1) when an error message appeared. Screen now frozen with apple logo, empty bar below and phone won't turn on or off

I have a frozen screen (black with the apple logo & an empty bar below) following an error message that appeared during an update of version 10.1 on my iphone 4.
I am not able to turn off the phone (or on!) Any ideas?

The iPod Touch kept trying to reboot yesterday but would only show the Apple logo screen then shut off - it finally drained the battery overnight I am guessing. Connected to USB the battery charging icon flashes.
Took it back to Best Buy, but they wouldn't touch it or replace it since it's under warranty.
To any potential buyers - beware. My best advice is to look somewhere besides Apple. Every Mac user I know has had to return a Mac, laptop, etc. Really poor quality control, and the retailers agree (Geek Squad told me they have had the same experience with Apple products).

  • I just restarted my phone, and now its frozen on the apple logo screen it shows when it restarts! anyone know how to get it to work?

My phone is frozen on the apple logo screen that shows when restarting. I tried to restart it again, but it still freezes and stays on that screen . I really dont want to reformat! Does anyone have any idea how to fix it?  THANKS!

You have to put it in dfu mode, when its plugged into itunes reset it by holding the home and the power button, when it starts back up let go of the power button and just hold the home button it should find your phone and say its in restore mode. from there you just have to restore it

  • Updated to IOS 8 and now power button does not respond and screen is frozen with apple logo.

Updated iPad to IOS 8 -- screen locked.  Now screen is frozen with apple logo and the power button is not responding.
    Thanks for any help!

That is normal while it is loading the update. Give it some time(shouldn't be more than 40 minutes). If not, hold the home & sleep/wake button until it is black, and then it restarts.

  • Frozen Ipod/ Ipod keeps rebooting at black apple logo screen (on loop)

Frozen Ipod/ Ipod keeps rebooting at black apple logo screen (on loop)
-I've already replaced my old 60 GB Ipod in exchange for an 80GB, I bring it home, sync it up with Itunes v7.02 and everything works fine for a while. Not even 24 hours later I go down into my artist/song directory to play a song, and it freezes again. I do the menu center key soft reboot a few times to bypass it and it works for awhile. I've tried looking for current updates for software on it, Restoring it, Resyncing and now It gets to the point everytime I unplug the ipod from charging I get back to the menu and try to play a song or video and it does nothing, it freezes everytime.
There has to be an explanation as to why my first one did it and why my new 80GB is doing it.
I've already ran a diagnosis on all the files in the ipod all of them come back clean.
    Help me out.
If you know how to resolve this issue reply and/or email me

My ipod is having a similar problem. The black apple logo has been the only thing I see on my ipod. I went a step farther and held the select and play/pause button to get it into disk mode. Once I am here I cannot proceed. I do not have computer that I hook it up to and have transferred the desired songs from an ex-girlfriends computer which I do not have access. What can I do once I have it in disk mode if I do not have a computer available?
