Frozen on setting date and time, tried restart and reset.

Purchased my atv a year ago and I'm having problems with getting it to work. It's stuck on the settings screen, I've tried everything from unplugging, to resetting and restarting. Does anyone have any other ideas.

Aha! A bit more searching and I found the answer that just fixed it for me.
Press Menu and the Back arrow at the same time until a broken chain icon appears on the top left of the screen.
Let them go....
Press Menu and Right arrow (forward arrow) until a "fixed" or "whole" chain appears.
This enabled my apple tv to once again respond and get off the "setting time and date" screen.

Passport restart when set date and time automatical austrian mountain

Hi guys sorry for my poor english. I was for four days in austrian mountain. There are a lot of areas without any connection (thats ok in mountain...). but why restartet my passport two counts per day? Only when it, set date and time automatical. After deactivat of this option my passport works normal without any restarts. My passport has follow infos: SQW100-1 softwareversion 10.3.1.1779.On 2000 meter was a mountain hut with an strong wireless repeater. Maybe it was the problem. Nobody on the hut has any problems with restarts... ok i was alone with my blackberry. nobody realy nobody on this mountain hut use a blackberry. Back from mountain i can set date and time automatical... and it works fine without problems. by the way i was the only one after four days with an active phone... Some IPads works on fourth day.... but how in hell go into a mountain with an IPad!? living area germany wireless carrier O2

When ATV is setting date and time, and hangs there, it usually indicate there isn't a network connection. Is your router still working, is the Internet for all the other computers on the same network working? Have you tried changing from WiFi connection to Ethernet or vice versa?

I live in an apartment complex and the router is in my roommates room. ANY suggestions? I'm at the point where I may return this because it has been nothing but a hassle. I had a similar issue wuth my new Apple TV. If you (or your roommate) are able to change the router firewall settings, do that first. I don't know the ports that you need, except that 123 is one of them (to set the time). Then restart the Apple TV. See if that will get you through the activation process. I actually ended up restoring mine to factory settings, but I'm not sure if that step was really necessary.

It's not related to any hacking.
Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
    1.    Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
    2.    Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
    3.    Restart your router.
    4.    Reset the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings)
    5.    Restore the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Restore)

My AppleTV cannot set date and time. I've reset it, but after 3 hours, it is still trying

My AppleTV used to work fine. Someone messed with my Time Capsule, so I had to have it worked on. Since it was messed up, the AppleTV can't function. I reset it and updated everything. It said "Activating" and "setting date and time". After 3 hours, it is still trying to set the date and time. Now what do I do? Thanks for any help.

As I previously wrote in a former post:
I will first assume you are still setting up your new Apple TV. Is this is the case, use a website like canyouseeme.com to check if port 123 is open. If it is not, this is your issue of your Apple TV not being able to connect to the timeserver. Try contacting your Internet Service Provider for help with opening this port.
Otherwise, try hard resetting your Apple TV by disconnecting all power for 30 seconds. If the problem still persists, you may try hard resetting your router by also unplugging all power for 30 seconds.
Hope this worked out well for you. If you are having further troubles you can always connect it to iTunes using a micro-usb and restore it. Lastly, the Genius Bar will be more than happy to fix the problem for you if you'd like to make a reservation for your local Apple Store.

also must mention i have never had trouble that i couldn't fix on itunes but all of this has started since i have been using icloud for basic backups hope this helps solve problem

Stuck on "setting date and time" page-tried hitting menu to reset network, but it stays on the setting date and time page. Any advice?

This is indication of a network issue... .ensure that the DNS settings are set to Automatic.
If the ATV is not responding to the remote, start by unplugging the device then plugging it back in. If it still fails to respond, restore via iTunes on the computer.

Stuck on setting date and time

Apple TV is new, straight out of box. I'm getting to the screen that says "Setting date and time. . ." Then it stays stuck there. If I bypass this screen, everything except date and time is set up, and because this is not set up, nothing is working. All other devices hooked up to wifi in the house are working and I've unplugged and reset the Apple TV and the router. How do I get this device to set the date and time?

HT1595 My AppleTV seems to be stuck on the "Setting Date and Time" load page

I just moved from a house to an apartment and when I hooked up my appleTV it said "Setting date and time" with a spinning load wheel and it's been doing this for a long time now. I hit MENU on the remote and tried going to Settings> General> Network like it said at the bottom of the screen, but nothing happened. It's connected to the right WiFi network, but the only icons it shows on the home screen are the 'Computers' icon (for Home Sharing) and the 'Settings' icon. My movies, music, tv shows, netflix etc. icons aren't showing up. I restarted it and got as far as the "Setting date and time" load page again, where it just sits and loads.

"RT Set date and time" does not set seconds in UTC mode

Hallo,
I tried to set the time on my cRio 9012 with the function settimeUTC which is used by the "Set Date and Time" vi. But the seconds I enter are ADDED to the current time and not set as new value.
Even the vi shows this behaviour: I set up a vi in which the time is set in a loop (100ms delay) and read again. When I set local time the clock stops (as expected) but when I set the UTC time the seconds keep on running...
Can anybody help me with that problem???

well it does not matter if I set a time zone in the MAX or not. In my example I was working on UTC + 0 but even when I set it to my local time (UTC + 1) I get the same behaviour modified by one hour.
My LabView Version is 8.5. In in the MAX under Software-> LabView-RealTime it says that I am using 8.5.0.
I suspect that the settime.out which is installed on the cRio is probably the root of the problem as VxWorks itself does not offer a function (at least I did not find one) to convert from broken down system time to system time in seconds. There only exist one to convert from broken down local time to system time in seconds ( mktime() ). The reverse function is available for both cases: gmtime() and localtime(). I also did not find a way to find out the offset of the local time. So I have to use the library function settimeUTC() from settime.out.
As I offered I can send you the settime.out file from my cRio for reference or maybe you can tell me how to find out what the version of the file is. It seems not to be an ELF file as I looked inside it to find some timestamp or version info...
