Frozen Palm T/X

My Palm T/X just froze up today.  I can turn it on, but it won't let me enter the password either by tapping on the number keys or writing the password in.  I've done a soft reset several times, it hasn't worked.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the device needs to be repaired or replaced. Palm and other third parties offer repairs, (pdaparts is an example)

Hello karaslorraine and welcome to the Palm forums.
Have you tried to soft reset the Palm TX yet?  Use the tip of the stylus that came with your Palm to press the Reset button on the back of the device.  Pressing that button will reboot the Palm, which is like restarting your computer.

Hi, My palm zire 21 is frozen! It is an older one, It froze then I reset on back and about 2days later it came back on, I don't know where my hotsync disc is to download! Then it froze again(maybe to full?) I need my info off of it, I would like to hotsync it to computer and then get another device, but can't right now. I have been online trying to figure out how to download something for it, but can't seem to figure it out! It beeps if I try to tap anything on it! If you have any suggestions let me know!AC

If the device will not function post a soft reset then a hard reset is needed. This will erase all data. There isn't anything to download that will make a non functioning Zire 21 start working.

  • Frozen Treo 800w

Can anyone offer help for a frozen Palm Treo 800w. It froze one day and I removed the battery. Now as its loading on the palm logo screen, the loading bar freezes about 1/3rd of the way accross. I have pulled the battery numerous times, recharged the phone, let the battery run down, all with no luck.
    Any suggestions?

    Bohio,
Unfortunately, I did not. I tryied and tried to get help from my service provider with no luck. I dropped service and moved to another provider after the lack of support. I was unable to get any help from Palm which was really disturbing because I liked the phone up until the crash.
    Jeffro,
Thanks for the information, I wished I would have had that tidbit of information some time ago. I'll dig the phone out just to give that a try and will post the results. Thanks again.

  • Palm m130 frozen

I'm a Palm idiot---have an OLD Palm m130, and was trying to switch to a newer Palm Tungsten E2...  Hotsynched old Palm m130... downloaded new software..  plugged in newer Tungsten (which had some other info on it...I'm getting my hubby's "hand-me-down").  The new device info over-wrote on the PC...and none of my info from my m130 is on the PC.  Then... re-connected the m130, did a hotsync... still the old info.  It wouldn't take the new stuff.
NOW... the old m130 is frozen w/ a "HotSync Problem" message on the screen.  It won't respond to any touch... won't turn off, etc...  This device is the only place that has my schedule info, etc...  Am afraid if I do the "reset" on the back, I'll lose all of my info.
    HELP!
    Post relates to: Palm m130

Thanks!  Figured that one out... the soft reset helped...and I made sure to have the transfer set for the hand-held to the PC.
NOW... I can't find on the palm site how to do a transfer to a newer device?  I want to transfer all of my info (which is now backed up on the PC) to the newer Tungsten E2 device... is there a place on the website that gives directions for this?
    Thanks!

I have multiple apps on my fone aned they were completely updated. my fone crashed 5 days ago. i just got a new one 3 days ago and it crashed again. im wondering if its a software glitch within the palm profile. because that is the only thing that carries over wen u switch fones. palms got a prob on their hands an it seems to me it will be spreading soon. the best part is im stuck on a month long deployment with no sprint store in sight!!

  • Palm Z22 frozen touch screen

Hi -- I can turn on my Palm Z22, I can reset it, i can use the buttons, but the touch screen doesn't work at all.  Does anyone know a fix for this?
    Thanks,
    Betsy
    Post relates to: Palm Z22

To add to this.....I just performed a hard reset and after confirming that I wanted to delete all data, it then asked me to "Tap the center of the target" with the stylus.  The target just keeps alternating between top left corner and bottom right corner in an endless loop and won't leave that screen no matter how many times I tap the target.  Is my Z22 gone for good?
    Thanks for any help.

  • My palm tungsten 2 is frozen on the tap the centre of the target page what can I do to restart it

I also have another tungsten 2 that has the same problem

Hi and welcome to the HP Support Community.
I assume you have the target screens because you Hard Reset the device?
If it will not respond to any taps after a Hard Reset, it sounds like the digitizer is faulty.  Yes, even tho you have two devices it could be the same hardware issue on both of them.  There is a long "stickied" thread near the top of this board which discusses digitizer (touchscreen) problems and their possible resolution.
If none of the solutions there help you out, you can check out Chris Short who can perhaps install a new glass digitizer on your device.  He has a good rep and is pretty much the only Palm OS repair solution I know of these days.
Good luck, let us know how it works out for you.

    - Are you saying that they are not listed in your Purchased section?
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    - Are they listed in your Puchases history when you log into your account on your computer?
    - Are they still available now for purchase? If not then you are out of luck

  • Palm TX frozen while browsing

I have been a faithful user of Palm for more than 15 years and a friend of mine gave me his Palm TX as he got a new iPhone
The unit is almost new. However, my friend tells me it has always had a problem: It connects to a wireless network via Wi-Fi, brings up the home page and everything looks fine. However, after a couple of web pages, it freezes. The only command it accepts is the reset button... and then back to normal. I tried with two different networks and the behavior is the same, ruling out a router configuration issue (I think). Any idea what may be happening?

Hi, and welcome to the Palm Support Community.
I use my TX(es) pretty heavily at home on my wireless network.  Every once in a blue moon (whatever that expression really means...to me it means maybe once a month or so, if that), my TX will freeze like that on some web page.  But it is very infrequent.
The first thing to try is a Hard Reset to wipe the slate clean and start over.  It will delete any third-party apps and all data on the device, so do a Hotsync before you Hard Reset.  This article discusses the various types of Reset for different Palm devices:
    http://tinyurl.com/zlwza
Then, after you Hard Reset, go through the calibration thing, and THEN try going online with it before you Hotsync any data back to it.  If it seems to be working, then there might be either a third-party app or some old system file from one of your previous devices which is causing a problem.
I know that Blazer will just choke on some web sites.  Maybe it's some of those naughty web sites you've been visiting (just kidding there  ). You might want to play with it for awhile by sticking with only some of the mobile-friendly web sites, such as the ones that you'll find on the mobile Palm home page when you open the browser.  Bounce back and forth between some of them to see if the problem occurs.
Another thing you could try is a freeware utility called flush_it (spelled with the _ because this Forum's software would bleep it out otherwise.  The program lets you set it to automatically "flush" the device's cache memory when you open or close an application.  It's helpful because some applications apparently don't close out cleanly, and can cause crashes or "fatal errors".

  • Palm TX Frozen Screen also

    Help,
Apologies in advance if I'm in the wrong support community.
My screen has become unresponsive. I Turn my Palm TX "ON" and the "Enter Password" screen appears but I cannot input my password with the stylus pen.
About the only thing that works is the 5 Way Navigator Button.
    Post relates to: Palm TX

Please read through and try the suggestions in the thread about digitizer (touchscreen) issues which is the third "stickied" thread at the top of this board.

Most phones that display this behavior have become wet at the bottom hoysync port.  If you suspect the same has happened to your phone, I'd pull the battery immediately and attempt to dry the phone!  Use a hair drier on LOW, or put it inder a desklamp - any low source of heat.

  • T2 Digitizer frozen after soft, warm, hard resets. Can not get it to calibrate at all.

My T2 occasionally has to be recalibrated. I downloaed DigiFix some months ago and it seemed to help a bit. I hot synced my data last night and all was well. This morning I could not tap my screen to access anything. I tried cleaning carefully around the screen edge, gently cleaned the screen ( no visible damage to the screen noted ), performed a soft reset ( which usually worked ), a warm reset, followed by a soft reset and finally a hard reset ( kept data ) followed by a soft reset and then the big one, a hard reset with loss of data followed with 5 soft resets in a row. I found through the forum a T2 update which I downloaded and is ready to be installed when I next hot sync.
The unit is now frozen with the x in the starting position in the top left corner. Despite my efforts to gently tap all around the X, I can not get it to recalibrate or even get off the calibration screen. If I could just get back to any regular screen, I could get my data back and install this T2 update.
I also downloaded Pocket DVD studio a week ago and have been able to upload .avi files for viewing videos on my Palm. I works beautifully. I think I still have the original Kimoma player on my T2, but never really like it. Can anyone PLEASE help me out? This T2 update is supposed to help according to the infor I found in forum....MANY THANKS!

Thank you for the fina advice. It worked and my T2 is now working perfectly. I think the real trick is using cheap copier paper, not the higher grade stuff or a business card for the cleaning routine. I floded the paper lengthwiase and put a sharp crease in before cutting into little work strips. It took a lot of patience and time to perform a proper cleaning, but it was worth it. Seems that the smallest bit of anything which get trapped under the bezel will throw the T2 into a stupor. Many thanks your your fine advice.....Rgds,John Brown
