Frozen...really frozen
Help! My iPod is frozen and my computer won't recognize it when it's plugged in. It originally worked on my laptop, but then my desktop wouldn't recognize it. Now it's frozen and resetting isn't working. What can I do? And I've tried downloading the drivers to make the computer recognize the device - I think that it won't recognize since it's frozen.
I had the same Christmas night, when I first opened my iPod. I was almost positive I was going to cry (I'd wanted one for the longest time). Try using one finger to push down on the Menu button, wait a second. Then use a finger from your other hand, and push down on the Select button. Hold them down together for 10 seconds tops. If that doesn't work, try some of the other Five R's.

well basically iv'e tried doing everything i mean i tried to restart it and everything. i put it on the charger last night and when i woke up it was still on the do not disturb screen when it charges and then when i unplugged it it stayed on that same screen so i tried restarting it manually and then i restarted my computer and put it back on the charger and then i reinstalled the itunes...i don't konw what else to do. i hope some one can help me.
Did you try the 5 Rs? The first is reset:
1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
2. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

Computer frozen /mouse frozen on G4 in 10.2.2
I use my old G4 for storage and old files I need.
It went to sleep and would not come back up. I turned it off by using the start button on the computer held for 5 seconds.
it came up but mouse frozen in the left corner.
I opened the cd holder and put in the first disk of the jaguar on 10.2.2 and killed the computer with the start botton again. Then I booted up. Same problem. I could not use mouse so could not go to the disk repair.
My hard drive is partitioned to have os 9 and os 10.
I tried a safe boot. no luck wiht mouse moving I tried holding down the c key with the os 10 install disk 1 of 2 in, it only comes up as a window and doesn't boot from the cd.
I tried apple-tab.
now I can't eject the install disk and I can't get mouse to work and I am sunk. No chimes of doom, everything boots like normal, looks normal but the mouse won't move.
Can I at least find a way to open the cd holder and take out the install disk?
Any suggestions? i don't want to reinstall the system as the purpose is to use this computer to get to os 9 apps I need for work + as a storage disk- I use my macbook pro for other stuff.
if I reinstall the system, I have to get the install disk out or to at least boot in the system on the disk...
g4 Mac OS X (10.2.x)update:
I got the computer to come up in the installation software (after 5 minutes) by holding down c key, but I still can't mover the mouse to get to the install button to install a new system. -

My icloud system preferences keeps popping up. The icloud system preferences is frozen, and won't allow me to sign in or sign out, seek support or check my password is correct. I recently changed my password for my Apple ID and wonder if that is why it has frozen me out. I now cannot turn my computer on or off.

Got a new iPod nano 4gb just under a month ago. Has been working fine until today when I tried to play a song and it just froze. Have tried the 5 Rs but when I connect it to my PC, iTunes doesn't detect the iPod so I can't even try restoring it. The iPod isn't detected in My Computer, but is present in Safely Remove Hardware - when I try to stop it, my PC doesn't do anything until I manually disconnect it and I get a "unknown error" message. Booo!

iPod Nano 4GB Windows XPMy Ipod is not really frozen but when it is hooked up to Itunes it will say Do not disconnect. Do not disconnect stays on the screen even if I am not transferring songs or even when it is not charging. This problem just started tonight (Dec. 22). I know I can disconnect Itunes and see the songs I have transferred but I do have to disconnect my Ipod from Itunes first. Is this a problem? If so how can I solve this problem?

IMac 2009 frozen after booting and startup
So, a few days ago, my iMac got stuck in the white loading screen that everybody says. It happened before already, and at the time, I just booted holding the key C and installed the OS with the CD. That went ok, nothing wrong. But then, a few days ago as I said, it happened again. At first, I tried booting it with the keys Command + Option + P + R to start with the OS utilites. I tried several different keys combinations and nothing worked but the C. So I booted it again with the C key. I installed the OSX Leopard again but now, when I turn the iMac on, it will go to the desktop screen just fine BUT it is frozen still. The mouse cursor is at the loading colourful ball and I can't use nothing, it just stays there forever! Like, I can't even click at the Macintosh HD folder or the at the Finder in the menu. It is really frozen at the loading cursor ball and it stays there forever.
Does someone know at least what is causing this?
How can I solve this problem without going to Apple Care? I do not have the money to leave it there, since the Apple Care in Brazil it's expensive.
Please help! I would be forever glad!

Use Software Update or the OS 10.6.8 combo update to update your OS. Also, update everything SU has to offer for your computer. When done, repair permissions and restart your computer. -

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I really can't tell from your post but did you try rebooting the iPad?
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. -
IPod earphone wire gets frozen
It snowed today, and i just realized my iPod earphone cord is kinda hard... not really frozen, but much harder than usual. It's like I could make a shape with it and it wouldn't turn back just by itself.

I have a similar problem, and I tried those r's. It has been sitting with a song on for over an hour, and on the very right side, a star is coming out of the side. I tried reseting it, connecting it, and everything else, but it won't turn off, and I can't do anything with it.

The display is telling you to connect the device to itunes, some error occurred and you'll need to restore from itunes. If the device is really frozen, it can't connect to iTunes or do anything else, then reboot it...
press and hold the home and power buttons until the Apple icon is displayed, then let go. -
Ya, okay ! I use a number of PSE programs, one of which is PSE 9. The tools for some reason seem to have frozen. When I use the move tool I don't get just one hand but 3 hand symbols all next to each other. Same thing with the crop tool, I don't get one symbol but 3 all next to each other. There are a couple of tools that just don't work at all. It's like the PSE 9 got hit with some virus or sorts. Oh well, live and learn. Trying to get through to tech service is next to impossible.

Photoshop Elements 9 is messed up.
The tools on Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 seemed to have frozen. The crop symbol is 3 of the symbols nest to each other. The hand move tool is not one hand but 3 next to each other. Other tools won't work at all. Really nice! -
Is iPhoto frozen or just taking a really, really, really long time?
Hi all:
I have a brand new MacBook Pro using latest version of iPhoto - library on an external hard drive.
Yesterday, found out that my back up external hard drive was bad. Accidentally disconnected the drive on which sat my remaining copy while trying to set up another backup (argggh). iphoto started to rebuild but got hung up - when I restarted, I was prompted to upgrade to latest version which I did and then and could not access my existing library.
Made copy of the library. Found the rebuild button and clicked it and got a prompt saying iphoto wanted to import 120,000 photos. THinking I had no other choice and happy to get photos any way i could, I said yes. Over a few hours saw all the photos fly by (multiple times for each). Got to what I thought was the end and iphoto says "finishing import". Has now been that way for about four hours.
When I look on Activity Monitor it does NOT say there is a problem with iPhoto. The percentages of CPU it is using changes with every refresh.
My questions are: a)does it makes sense that this part of the import should take this long and b)is there any other way to know if iPhoto is actually frozen or can I trust the Activity Monitor and just assume it might take...how long? All day?

It has now been almost 24 hours and the process is still not finished. i tried quitting through activity monitor ( it wouldn't let me stop the program using the cancel import button) but got the following message "photos are being imported, please wait." But when I highlight "importing photos" in iphoto the number is (0).
Just wondering if there is a way to really check if anything is actually happening or if I should just force iphoto to quit and start the whole process over (argghhh) and when I get the prompt "iphoto wants to import 125,000 photos" click No . Is there a way to do that and then try to import photos in smaller batches? Would that be possible?
Getting frustrated here (and kicking myself for not having at least two working backups at ALL times!).
