Frustrated Beyond Belief

I am extremely frustrated with Adobe, beginning with selecting a screen name.  Why don't you give suggestions after the 10th failure?
I have been receiving messages that I need to update adobe reader,  Flash player that supports adobe reader and Acrobat.  Every time I have tried (for weeks now), I don't have success.  When I hit proceed to download page command I receive a 3D data parsing error has occured message, but no instructions on how to fix error to complete download.  If i didn't need the download to read a certain pdf file I would have given up by now.

I just came across this today and I had the same error as you did at our company. We actually reset our computers and did a fresh install and it was fixed. If you havent tried this I would give it a try. Usually Adobe is as solid as it comes. Good luck!

  • Frustrated beyond belief.   Trying to download the new Itunes 11 version so I can sync my phone.   It goes thru the whole process, says I was successful and then I get a message - "Apple Mobile Device Failed to start----retry, and retry, same message.

    On my desk computer, I tried to download the new Itunes 11 version.   I had Itunes 10.  It goes thru the whole process and then says "Apple Mobilve Devide failed to start, Verify you have sufficient privileges to start service.   I hit retry and then I get  Installation successful followed by error 126.   I can not enter Itunes at all now.   If I click on the former icon it says  MSVCR80.dll for error.   I can't even figure out how to ask for support on this website.   I have several devices linked to Itunes and need to sync.

  • Menus have garbage on edges (Snow) - Frustrated beyond belief...

    Ok, this is my computer: 2 x 2.66 Dual-Core Intel Xeon; 20 GB 667 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM. I have three 30" displays. I started having display issues...two monitors have it and one doesn't. Two monitors run off an ATI Radeon X1900 XT and the other off the original card. The original card and one monitor is running fine and has no display issues. I deducted that it was highly probable it was the video card for those two monitors.
    I took it to a Mac Genius.
    They replaced the power supply and a MLB, W/O MPU (I think this is a display component on the motherboard).
    I took it home and it still had the problem. I took it back. They had it for about 2 hours and called and said that they saw the issue but when they booted it with their operating system, they could not replicate the problem, so they felt my system was corrupt and I needed to do a clean install.
    So as I am writing it now...I erased my Mac Volume, re-installed Leopard and updated the firmware on the ATI card as well from the Mac website.
    None of this has worked..I am to the point where again, it is the video card. I don't want buy it, if it is something else. I am also tired of taking it into the Genius if they can't fix it..it takes up half a day and this will be third trip.
    Any help from a fellow forum member or Mac Rep monitoring this would be appreciated.

  • Frustrated beyond belief; can't play an MP3 file

    I know this can POSSIBLY be that hard, but I'm a total noob
    and the documentation is bewhildering at best.
    I have an ASP page that pulls data, and one field is the name
    of an MP3 file greeting.
    All I want to do is use the MediaPlayback component to play
    that file. That's all. No jukebox, no wild video, just play the one
    single file that I've specified.
    I put the MediaPlayback component on the page, and gave it
    the name
    player. In the Component Inspector I selected MP3,
    Automatically Play, and left the URL blank. (If I "hardcode" the
    MP3 filename in there it will play that single file, but I can't
    get it to play any other files). Saved the FLA with the name Player
    and then I publish the SWF into the same dir with all the MP3
    files.
    I tried using this code to play a file called Allen.mp3, and
    no matter what I do I cannot get it to play. I've tried Param URL,
    contentPath, all sorts of combinations thereof....

    Are your stereos capable of playing .mp3 files.
    Not all CD players are equal.
    as noted you can burn the message as an AIFF file then it would play in any CD player.

  • Confused beyond belief

    I recently purchased a new Mac (1st one I've owned).  I set up I've set up iCloud and iTunes.  Now on my iPhone when an App needs updating it keeps saying I have an incorrect Apple ID or password.  I've followed the prompts to change the password &/or Apple ID.....here's where the trouble begins.....
    If i try signing into iTune on my computer everything is fine, but I do the same on my iPhone and it's not.  So I make the neceassry changes  then it's like a domino effect,  then iCloud tells me I have an incorrect Apple ID or password.  I've tried searching the boards but I'm getting frustrated.  I've literally been working on this ALL day.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    If I have one Apple ID for iTunes, iCloud, App store on the mac, app store on my iPhone - they all say I need different passwords.  So I change the passwords.  Then when I try to log on to any of the above mentioned it says I have an incorrect password.  I'm going around in circles.  Can't I just have one Apple ID and one password for iTunes, iCloud, App store etc?
    Also - Some of my apps on my iPhone need updating but I'm unable to update because I can't remember which appleID and password I purchased them on.  This is a nightmare.

    My ipod is dead after one year. All restore, etc. efforts have not worked. $400 and I got one year?!?!? I am very upset. Apple wants almost $300 to fix it because it is over a year old, and I want them to know how angry I am.     I join you in your anger and frustration. My my ipod which is just 13 months old is not working as it should. When I called HP about the problem they told me without an extended warranty there is nothing they can do for me. They offered to sell me a new one. I can pay them $45.00 and they can tell me that it is fixable or it isn't fixable. Without the $45.00 they don't offer any service other then this page. I and another person bought our ipod's within a month of each other and his too is not working properly. I am certain that this is a product defect and that the maker of the ipod is aware of the failure but unwilling to do anything about it. We need to stay aware and watch for a class action...I think that will come.

  • Apple Maps and Yelp app integration....errors beyond belief

    Has anyone else ever experienced when you launch driving directions to a business from within the Yelp app, that even though Yelp has the address correctly, and will show it correctly on the map.....that Apple Maps gives completely innacurate directions, and in many cases will drive me going AWAY from the business.  The other day I had this happen again, and it had been awhile since I had used Apple Maps.  I figured I've heard that they are constantly improving so I decided to give it a try again.  I launched directions to a business from the Yelp app, and after driving for quite awhile I started to get suspicious.  Something wasn't right.  So I fired up Google Maps App, and sure enough, Apple was taking me in the opposite direction from the business!  It had put me on the correct road, but had me driving away from where I needed to be. 

    I am having the same problem. Patients are being led to the wrong side of the street for the following business location:

  • Really interesting bizarre bug in TreePath, I'm confused beyond belief

    Inside a large program, in which I use custom TreeModel instead of DefaultMutableTreeNode's etc, I have a following method which needs to recurse up a TreePath.
    This seems to be a MAJOR bug, because if you look in the following ten lines, I verify several times that the argument is non-null (and even return early if it is).
    However, at the line "while( ... )" it throws a NullPointerException! What, is the keyword "while" null ???!?!?! Because we know that tp is NOT null.
    We also know that we can call "tp.getPathCount()" because I do so and even print it out!#
    If you have any thoughts, please CC to [email protected], because at the moment I'm sure Sun will refuse a bug report (without more info) and I doubt I can make a small program that demonstrates this - otherwise surely it would have been found before!

    Oh dear. After prolonged testing, I realised the problem: when the TreePath is the root, it returns null as parent , which happens just before I do the test as to whether to carry on - I had originally put the test just before that, but had moved it to just afterwards, thereby causing the problem!
    Very foolish, really.

  • In serious need of help for huge Premiere Pro Picture glitch. Confounded beyond belief.

    Gents and ladies, I have been at this for two days and am in desperate need of help. Right now my editing in Premiere Pro is completely stalled due to a bizzare picture glitch. I am 100% stuck and unable to edit.
    When I add a picture to my bin, it's ok. Then I add a second and it seems fine. But any and all pictures I add after that show up as the first picture. Never mind that the name of the file appears correct.
    The picture itself, both the thumbnail and the picture in the timeline, etc. are just the first picture.
    I have rebooted,restarted, started new projects with new settings, cleared the Premiere Pro cache... NOTHING works.
    Video is not a problem. Only pictures. And I am now dead in the water as a result.
    Look at this screenshot. See how the other than the second picture they are all the same? Well, they shouldn't be. But they are. And I am stuck and unable to edit at all as a result.
    WTH is happening here?
    I have Premiere Pro 5 on a PC from Adobe Production Premium.
    One issue I have had recently is in the middle of editing Premiere Pro will start conforming video that has already been conformed prior.
    Begging for help here.

    I guess I should expect a snarky answer from someone named "Snarky McSnarkster." You are being quite rude. It is not helpful to tell someone to fix a glitch by buying new software. That is not a solution. I could just uninstall and re-install, but I am not going to risk losing all of my current projects if something goes wrong. That is like a thermonuclear option. And spending a grand on new software is insane when I don't need it. The software has been fantastic since I bought it. But glitches happen and so I have been in this forum before and always found a solution via some helpful experts.
    It is also absurd to call me disinterested when I have engaged with everyone here and answered all of their questions. Just because I have tried most of what has been suggested and explained as such does not make me the bad guy.
    As for Ann Bens' question: We have seen this issue in the past and re-save was the solution. Are these images RGB?
    Yes, most are RGB. Some I have tried are CMYK. I have tried jpegs, tiffs, bitmaps, png. I am completely clueless as to how this is happening.
    I am about to try opening Photoshop, opening a bunch of pictures and savings them to a new HD, then starting a brand new project.
    For those who have made suggestions, thank you.

  • Syncing ***** beyond belief since the recent Iphone update - PLS APL FIX!!!

    I did a search on this forum for can't sync and got over 500 results. NONE of which has fixed my problem, and many many others are having the same problems.
    And no, my phone has not been hacked, altered, dropped or anything else.
    It all started the day of the last update.
    When I dock my phone now one of several things happens:
    1) Get Cant find disk error
    2) Get the dreaded spinning beach ball forever
    3) Get the always exciting: "The Iphone "My Iphone" cannot be synced.
    The device is not connected."
    4) Or it just gives the message in the top display window of itunes "Syncing "My Iphone"" and that happens indefinately
    5) Nothing happens, itunes just acts like my phone is not docked at all.
    6) It actual does sync, maybe one in ten times
    Here is what I do if I really really need to sync it, which takes about 45 minutes:
    a - repair permissions
    b - I go to user>library>application support>syncservices and put the folders in the trash
    c - restart
    d - repair permissions yet again
    e - start itunes
    f - dock Iphone
    This works about 50 percent of the time, but for only one single sync, then I have to start the entire process over again.
    None of this happened prior to the last Iphone software update, and seeing how there is a small army of people with syncing issues, I'm hoping this gets resolved quickly on apples part, or someone else has a fix for this.
    If anyone has a real fix for this that would be great.

    First, trashing the SyncServices folder can cause corruption that could be excerbating the issue you are experiencing. This is discussed in the "swarm of bees" article which can be found here:

    If you have done everything else short of removing the SyncServices folder, I would recomend calling into support, and referencing that article.
    What model of Mac are you using? If an iMac, is at PPC (G3, G4, G5) or Intel-based iMac?

    I just blugged in my micro, having lent it to my friend for the weekend, of course it shows 'low battery' I procceed? to charge it?It gets stuck on the Creative logo, and it wont get off. It makes a funny noise then stops?I tried taking the battery out but it wont work. I have read some posts but i dont think they have the same problem as mine. I tried down loading something to help it, but it says it cannot be found!?I got it to the charging screen.. where u see the little battery filling up, but i cant get back to it no matter what. Please help, it would be much appreciated.

    Sounds like from your description that the micro dri've has crashed !?You could try getting into Recovery Mode and format the dri've. But since you say its "making Funny noises" the dri've is probably gone. I would say upgrade it with a flash dri've.

    What happens when you try to restore the iPod via iTunes? Error messages?
    Have you tried placing in V and then restoring?

  • Hard drive woes ...

    Going a little nuts here. Back in February, I decided that I needed a bigger hard drive. I ordered up a 500GB 5400rpm drive from Other World Computing. They sent me the enclosure kit along with it. I cloned my existing drive, and after cloning I swapped one drive for the other. Everything was fine for a little over a month. I started experiencing freezing and slowdowns while browsing the internet, and then one day while downloading some digital media, everything froze up. I had to turn the machine off to un-freeze it. When I tried to boot again it wouldn't boot.
    I surfed around the internet on another machine and got all kinds of voodoo suggestions for how to get the thing to boot. While I can't recall all of the things that I eventually did, suffice to say I finally got the thing booted but much of my data was scattered into all sorts of folders marked "Lost and Found". It took me weeks to retrieve my most important data. I'm sure I lost some critical stuff, I just haven't attempted to access it yet to discover it isn't there. Of course by now I'm sure you have figured out that I didn't have a backup ... shame on me, and I have (for the most part) learned that hard lesson. I was able to successfully use Data Rescue II to pull all the data off the drive but it took days.
    Well, a couple of weeks after this debacle I experienced the slowdowns again to the point where the information was simply not coming up. The drive had failed. I called up OWC, and after some wrangling they agreed to replace the drive. I installed the new drive and everything worked fine for about 3 weeks. While away on travel, I checked my email one morning at the hotel, put my computer away in my bag and drove 2 minutes to the place I needed to run a seminar on PowerPoint. When I plugged the PowerPoint projector into my machine and woke it up, it froze. This happens about half the time I do this. My solution is always to restart the computer. (I had used this identical projector and computer for two solid days of training before this happened). The computer appeared to start, then flashed a file folder with a question mark symbol in it. It would not boot. Because of the previous shenanigans with this **** thing, I had brought an external USB hard drive with all of my backed up data on it. I can boot from this hard drive and, in fact, I'm typing this question on the problem computer right now. But I can't access the internal drive.
    I attempted to use Disk Utility and it sees the drive and the partition, but it will not allow the partition to mount. When I attempt to use Disk Warrior, it will not register the drive or the partition during a disk scan. I have been running Data Rescue II for the past two days non-stop trying to clone the failed drive to a new external drive. There are times when it will run fast (copying 1 GB every 20-30 seconds) and other times where it slows down so that it copies 256 KB every 20-30 seconds) It has so far cloned 277GB of 465GB. At this rate, it will take about two more days to finish, then I have to figure out if the data is useable. I would have simply cloned my backup drive to the new drive except I had to go out of the country for two weeks, and my external USB backup drive is so bulky and needs an external power supply, so I had two weeks of important work that was not (I know, I know!!!) backed up.
    I contacted OWC again, and they are reluctant to replace the drive. They told me that the first "failed" drive I sent back to them tested out fine, despite the fact that I had actually sent the whole computer into Apple for a service call and Apple told me the drive was fried. Of course they wouldn't do anything about it because it was a third party drive. I took the computer into the Genius Bar for this second failed drive to find out if there were any tech tool programs I could use to find out exactly what was going on with the **** thing, but they again told me that the drive was fried.
    So my ultimate question after that lengthy background, is this: Is my MacBook Pro killing hard drives, or am I getting bad drives from my supplier? What on earth could my computer be doing to kill drives if this is the case? It worked flawlessly and I haven't changed my work or travel habits at all since I started installing these Hitachi drives. I don't have any problems at all when using external drives, but as soon as I install something into the box, tick .... tick ... tick ... it seems to wait for a few weeks, then BAM. drive failure.
    And why on earth would a drive fail in my computer, then work perfectly fine for the techs at OWC when they test out the drive?
    Frustrated beyond belief, and a bit tired of carrying around clunky external hard drives.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
    This is a very puzzling situation. I don't know if the drives are failing or if the problem lies elsewhere, but there are some things to look at and to try.
    One thing to check is the hard drive flex cable. It needs to be undamaged and well seated on the logic board. If it has a piece of Kapton tape over the logic board connector, the kapton tape should be replaced with a fresh piece.
    There are a couple of things that can go wrong with hard drives. The complex software on them can become corrupted, and this might have happened to yours. The way to repair this is to boot from your system install disc and navigate to Disk Utility and then repair your startup disk, i. e. the internal hard drive. If Disk Utility finds errors it cannot repair, the perhaps a utility like Disk Warrior can. You want to repair the disk until there is nothing left to repair.
    Another way a hard drive can fail is physically, and if this happens, there is no way to repair it. However, there is a utility that will enable you to see the S.M.A.R.T status in considerable detail:

    If you get specific errors either with Disk Utility or with S.M.A.R.T Utility, you can see if you can capture them with a photo. That would give you something very specific to show OWC as evidence that the drive itself is bad.
    There is also a possibility that the SATA bus is bad and that is causing your problems. However, if that were the case, you would expect the drive to not work from the beginning instead of working for a while and then failing.
    I don't know how the techs at OWC test out their drives, but I do know that S.M.A.R.T. is not supported on external drives.
    Is it possible that this is a software issue? If you have a good backup on an external drive, you could try erasing and reformatting the drive and see if this brings it back to life.
    When the Apple guys said the drive was fried, did they say why?
    One thing you might want to consider until this issue is resolved. Get a 500 GB notebook drive and one of OWC's Mercury on the Go Firewire enclosures with the very reliable Oxford 924+ chipset. I have 2 of these--one with a 320 GB Western Digital Drive and one with a 500 GB Western Digital drive. I use these for backup. They are compact enough to fit in my computer bag and will run off of a firewire port, so no external power supply is needed.
    Also, it may be worth talking to Hitache about your drive if you are having trouble with OWC. It may also be worth considering another brand--you can often get drives at good prices with free shipping from Newegg.
    It does sound like you may have 2 drives that have failed. It's probably worth taking some pictures of the flashing question mark and any other evidence you may have to send back with the drive. It is probably also worth putting it into an enclosure and seeing if it works properly then. If it does, do a very careful check of the flex cable and connections.

  • Installing loops

    I hope someone can help me. This is my first day an a Mac, and Im frustrated beyond belief.
    I can see my "garageband" loops in the loop browser, but not the Acidfanatic loops I just downloaded. I copied the Acidfanatic loops to Macintosh HD/Library/Apple Loops/Acidfanatic. (I created the Acidfanatic folder.) When I browse to that location in Finder, I can see all the Acidfanatic loops. But when I use the search in Finder, it doesnt find them. After I copied the Acidfanatic loops from the image file to the folder path I described above, I dragged that folder to the loop browser in Garageband. It seemed to install. It asked me for my password and briefly said it was calculating a new index or something like that. But I still cant see the new Acidfanatic loops in the loop browser or in a Finder search.
    Any ideas?

    You are right on the point.
    Download the Apple loops software from this link: ftp://ftp.apple.com/developer/DevelopmentKits/Apple_Loops_SDK1.3.1.dmg
    It will allow to convert the wave loops to aif loops.
