Frustrated... Need Help

I've had problems with my ipod before but always figured it out. I recently aquired an external hard drive which holds all of my music files. The issue becomes more complicated though as I only have two USB slots. One is occupied by the external hard drive and the other which is a connection for my internet.
When I connect ipod I have to disconnect my internet. If itunes doesn't freeze then it gives me a message stating my ipod is corrupt and that I should restore it which i cannot b/c I am not connected to the internet. So i disconnect my hard drive figuring i will restore it and then connect my hard drive back up. I was able to restore my ipod but i do not get a succesful connection when my external hard drive is connected which poses a problem b/c all my music is on it. I've went through all troubleshooting and I've searched extensivly only to find that no one has a similar problem. This is my last resort, can someone please help me?

I don't know, but based on how you described the problem you are having, it sounds like you need to have the iPod, the external drive and the internet all connected at the same time. A hub would allow you to do that.

THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING- NEED HELP- ERRATIC BEHAVIOR

I have an iMac G5 with Power PC processor. I recently installed Leopard OS and an additional 2 GB memory card, so, now my computer is at max operating level. Here are a few weird things happening: there are several Excel spreadsheets on the desktop I use daily. They used to be icons surrounded by a green frame to indicate they were Excel documents, now, they start out that way when the computer boots up but then they change to white documents with XLS and a corner of the page icon is flapped over. Is that what they are supposed to look like in Leopard? Hmm. The weirdest most frustrating thing of all is that when I use Safari to browse or play games on facebook, the computer auto sleeps or shuts down completely. If I use the restart command, iMac just shuts down. When I run disk utility, I get a disk permissions message that states: ACL found but not expected on "Applications/Utilities." What the heck are all of these things and any ideas?

check the disc, does it say something about intel processors or power pc processors?

Getting frustrated need help please

I just got an iPod touch for Christmas. Used it on my home computer works great no issues, attempted to use it on my home office computer and I get a message saying that I need the newest version of itunes and Apple Mobile Device Support. I have the current version installed but just to be sure I went to the website and downloaded and installed the version shown. During installation it hit a certain point and began "rolling back" everything. I received an error message saying that itunes could not be installed.
At this point I decided to attempt to uninstall itunes and try a clean install. I uninstalled itunes through "Add/Remove Programs" as well as quick time, bonjour and apple software update. However I cannot uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support, just like the itunes install it reaches just to the end and then rolls back everything.
I have searched the discussion boards and the Apple web site and followed all of the advice to no avail. I have tried using the "change" and "remove" buttons in "Add/Remove Programs", no luck. I have opened MSConfig and stopped all non vital programs from running upon startup, no luck. I have attempted to manually delete the files, all but one will delete, that file is "Locked or in use by another program". I tried changing the file name, no luck. I tried deleting the files from C:\ prompt, no luck.
Ready to throw the computer out the window any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Using Outlook with MacBook is frustrating - need help

One main reason I purchased a MacBook Pro is because I knew they had a compatable Microsoft Office program. Unfortunately now that i have it installed I cant sink my contacts, notes and calendars with the MacBrook Pro/iPdad Iphone. Does anyone know if this can be done successfully?

Microsoft Office does not support iCloud, you can't do what you want.
Use Calendars and Contacts, Reminders and Notes instead.

After upgrade to iOS8, very slow, no volume slider bar, no volume through the iPad although the headphones work. My volume slider bar now reads"Sound Effects"?? Mute is off, need help. So frustrated!

I do not think apple will do much to help you under warrenty, as this was caused by a fall. (alas!)
I think the case is, as you suggest, jamming the rocker down, and it may have damaged the swith itself. Can you carefully lever it out of the way? Very very carefully. If it is already broken, there is not much harm you can do by trying.
If it is just the switch being jammed, you might be able to move it out a little. If it is the swith itself, you will need some real service after your three hour drive. You might check your loacl area for a closer service repair source.

I am a novice user of Illustrator [after you read my question it will probably be obvious] running Illustrator 14.0.0 (CS4) - on a MAC iMac running 10.4.11. I am a small business owner and have to wear many hats and so I am forced to be my graphic designer by default - ha ha
PROBLEM - If I make a box using the RECTANGLE TOOL... The box should have a point at each Corner and the Middle of the box, as well as, in the Middle of each Side, and middle of Top and Bottom for a total of 9 anchor points... but it only has 5... missing the 4 anchor points in the Middle of each Side, and middle of Top and Bottom. It is the same on Text Boxes too.. I can NOT find a setting to change this.... More, when running Illustrator on my MAC Laptop, It has all 9 anchors on the box... I looked at Preferences etc... and matched everything to be the same but the problem is not fixed?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

You are probably right that bounding boxes came with Illie 9.
Probably before that. But I can personally recall that the current-selection bounding box was present in AI9. Unlike some, I try to avoid making claims that I can't immediately substantiate.
I hopped straight from 6 to 9 and that was the first time I had seen them outside of Freewotever.
I'm not familiar with "Freewotever." But if you're again trying to be funny, you are also again revealing your near complete unfamiliarity with it. FreeHand is not the program that continually cluttered the interface with bounding boxes. In fact, for many years that is exactly one of the distractions FreeHand users complained about re Illustrator.
First off, FreeHand's interface doesn't display bounding boxes. It displays only bounding box handles (four dots) on non-basic constructs like clipping paths. (Somewehere around FH 9, it implemented the optional Transform Handles, but that's another thing.) In the cases of rectangles and ellipses, FreeHand doesn't display Bounding Boxes per se. Working in FreeHand has always provided more functionality with much less visual clutter (and tool glut) than Illustrator's defaults.
The difference is that FreeHand has always provided proper live geometric shape primitives--something which Illustrator still doesn't provide, even though it's one of the most basic of all vector drawing interface expectations, being present in just about any vector drawing program on the planet--except Illustrator. That point of confusion is common among those who are experienced only with Illustrator's chronically outdated and archaic interface.
Quite to the contrary, a rectangle drawn in a program that does provide basic live primitives doesn't need a bounding box to perform the bare-bones basic manipulation exemplified, because you can change the aspect ratio of it (and corner radius) anytime you want, regardless of its rotation. You can do this not only in FreeHand, but Canvas, Inkscape, Xara Designer, and even in just about any basic drawing module of just about any "works" or "office" bundle. It's just Illustrator that still fails to provide live shape primitives, and therefore needs a rotated bounding box to provide a very limited subset of such common functionality. You draw a rectangle (or any other geometric primitive) in Illustrator, and all you get is a dumb path. So Illustrator actually needs bounding boxes more than other programs, because of its anemic core funciton set and its hideous user interface.
But of course, someone who is familiar only with Illustrator wouldn't know that. Which is fine...so long as they don't spew derision at programs they know next to nothing about (and users of such programs).

First: If you purchased AppleCare you should call back at 1-800-APL-CARE and ask for further assistance. You'll want to learn how to retrieve your operating system version and your IMac's serial number as you'll need these for when you call AppleCare:
Click on the Black Apple in the top left hand corner of your Imac's physical monitor
Click on About this Mac from the drop down menu
Below the silver Apple and "OS X" it will say "Version 10.x.x" (If this number is not 10.8.4, run Software Update by hitting the button marked "Software Update")
Click on this number twice in a row. This is your machine's serial number. (zeros can be used; the letter "O" is never used).

Second: this is an educated guess: Your new Imac and your PC need to be either on the same wifi network or you need to connect them physically with an Ethernet cable (available at Radio Shack, Wal Mart, etc). My guess is that they are not, and so your IMac and PC are not talking to each other. That might be why you are seeing a different code on the PC.
Time Machine would not be relevant to your issue. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4796 is the link to relevant instructions, however it left out some housekeeping you should do on your Imac before you begin a migration
Run Software Update on the IMac to confirm that the latest updates are installed.
On the IMac, make sure that you have the latest versions of any third-party software.
On the source Mac, open System Preferences, click Sharing, and make sure there is a name in the Computer Name field.
Do not let either computer go to sleep while you are attempting to migrate. To disable sleep on the IMac
Choose System Preferences from the Apple () menu.
Choose Energy Saver from the View menu.
Adjust the "Computer sleep:" slider to Never. (Change this back after the migration is done).
You can adjust "Display Sleep" to a few minutes - this won't affect the migration
Uncheck the box if checked next to "Put Hard Disks to sleep when possible"

Once you've done this, either connect both Mac and PC to the same wifi network and surf the web with each to confirm that connection is working - or connect them to each other with an Ethernet cable.

Understand that if you have further issues, you'll need to help AppleCare help you by:
walking them through the steps you've taken in Migration Assistant
letting them guide you as they isolate the issue to either:
The Imac's software
The IMac's hardware
The PC's software
The PC's hardware
Firewall settings (maybe - especially if 3rd party firewalls are installed)
The wifi connection, if used
The ethernet connection, if used
I think the issue is likely what I guessed, or it's a software issue.

I am a technical support professional who troubleshoots Macs all day long. I do this for a living. The book above is the most accurate, and easy to understand book I've seen with respect to using Mountain Lion and its various applications. It's for a MacBook but the focus is on the software which is why I recommend it.
Don't feel like you have to rush to upgrade to OS X Mavericks. In fact, you should always confirm both all the hardware and software you use is compatible with any new operating system before you upgrade. And ask yourself: "why do I need it now?" Because it's new is not a good answer.
In the future, specifying any troubleshooting others have done will help those on these boards help you. Also, don't let a specific issue lead you to assume you've made an all-encompassing mistake. It's just one issue, and it's resolvable.
And everyone else: giving a dozen recommendations for reading will only leave the petitioner bewildered. Start with three. And try responding with a hypothesis as to what's causing the primary problem!

Need Help ASAP!!! So FRUSTRATING!!! text message problems!!!

I have 2 problems right now with my BB Torch 9810. I need help ASAP.
1. It only saves 20 text messages. Messages that I received from august 2012. But it seems other messages are not stored. I don't delete messages, so I don't know where my other messages go. And sometimes if you create a new text, text history will show. But not anymore. This have been going on for a long time.
2. When I receive text message from some of my contacts, it will show the first few words of the text. But when you click on it, the message is empty. funny thing is, not all of my contacts are like this.

I would suggest performing the following to resolve the issue:
1. Create a backup of all your data by using BlackBerry Desktop Software. In BlackBerry Desktop Software go to Device>Backup and save the file onto your PC or Mac.
2. On the BlackBerry Torch 9810 smartphone go to Options>Security>Security Wipe and put a checkmark beside 3rd party applications as well. Type in the word BlackBerry and press wipe data.
Please Note: You can re-install your applications through BlackBerry World.
3. Once completed test sending and receiving some SMS messages prior to restoring any data. If the issue is resolved, then go into BlackBerry Desktop Software and go to Device>Restore and choose custom and only choose contacts.

Itunes wont open need help backing up music on external hard drive

My itunes wont open after upgraded to 8 , ive uninstalled and reinstalled itunes and quicktime and still wont work. i found a topic to possibly help me but i dont know how to tranfer my music to an external disk drive without being able to open itunes. i am getting so frustrated. please help

A usb hard drive that Windows sees doesn't need software for a simple back up.
Format the hard drive Disk Management, if it doesn't come already formatted, and then drag and drop the iTunes folder and whatever other data you want to back up to it.
What you're describing doesn't sound like something iTunes did. If you're having general install troubles you have another problem with your system and it's time for a little troubleshooting to find out what's really going on.

My apple id doesnt work (it wont let me log in) i need help

The main reason i need to log into my apple id is because i bought a $50 itunes giftcard that i wanted to buy music with. The problem with this is that when i went to go buy music on itunes, it told me i needed to verify my account by answering my security questions. I didnt remember my answers so i went on apple's website to log in and get my answers through my recovery email. This is the start of the problem. The email that showed up was a yahoo account, but it didnt show the full address which didnt help at all. I didnt recieve the email, so i decided maybe changing my other backup emails would change the recovery email which i now realize didnt do anything. I looked up help because i was really frustrated i couldnt use the giftcard until i resolved this issue, and i read maybe changing my main email to a backup one would help for whatver reason. And i did that, and when i went to verify it it said that the email was no longer associated with the account. I tried logging back in and it said either my email or my password was incorrect, and i have officially given up by now. I tried the iforgot and used my first and last name and current email and it said nothing was found. So i made another apple id with the same username and password thinking maybe the money would transfer over but it didnt. I changed the email now so that i could use my original email to get the account back, but when i try logging in with the old account nothing happens. im really frustrated and need help fixing this issue i know this is a big mess but hopefully someone can help me out haha.
*i really want this account saved because i am not spending another $50 on an itunes giftcard.

Need help setting up external hard drive for FCE project

Hi folks,
Basically I am looking at making a 20-30 minute video this summer of my motocross adventures and what not and have equipped myself with an iMac (2.93 GHZ Core2Duo 640GB 4GB) and of course, FCE. I have tried smaller projects before (ranging in length between 20 seconds to upwards of a few minutes) but have noticed an overall decline in computer speed which I am under the impression is being caused by the 10s of GBs of video project files and what not that seem to be scrawled away within my computer. Before I made any videos, my computer was sitting around 560 GBs of free space. Since making maybe 3-4 videos (50/50 iMovie and FCE) its down below 400GBs. I'm not sure whether it's the raw video files or the projects themselves that are so large, but it's slightly frustrating. Is there any sort of software (either third party or apple) that can look at your hard drive and tell you exactly where all the biggest files are? I'll post this question in the iMac forum as I realize this is for FCE, but I thought if anyone knew of one it would be extremely helpful.
Anyways, I have a SimpleDrive 320GB external HD that I plan to use as my external for making this project within FCE and would like some help in terms of how to set it up with FCE, what are the best settings etc. It is currently formatted with Windows, so I will also need help in setting it up for a Mac. I do have about 120GBs used on it already and was also wondering if I could keep this when re-formatting, but I'm pretty sure I already know the answer to that.

Yes, you can use your external HD with FCE ... provided it is formatted as +Mac OS Extended+ and is connected via FireWire.
You will need to back up any data that is on the drive that you want to keep. Before reformatting it. Formatting erases everything that is on the drive.
Use Disk Utility (located in your +Applications > Utilities+ folder) to format the drive.
After formatting the drive, go into +FCE > System Settings+ and change your FCE scratch disk location to the external drive.
