Frustrated with audio breaks in my Slideshow
I am burning a slideshow with iDVD and am getting breaks in my iTunes background audio. It happens at the same time as my picture changes in my slideshow. The photo changes and I get a 1-2 sec. break in the song that is playing at the time. I am just learning so please help me. Thanks

Well you know that was not the problem. although is good to know.
I played that dvd I made in a player and it gave that gap problem, but I don't know what the problem was because today I played the same dvd in a pioneer player and it was perfect. I didn't know what to make of it other than the player must have been so cheap it could not read the disc properly. I was working with iDVD by the way.
Have any of you guys heard of this before?

Hi, 1st time to use forums. I'm using idvd5.0.1 and iphoto 5.0.4 and trying to made a dvd of slideshow with music. If you make the slideshow in idvd it will only let you use 99 slides, and the music repeats itself (which is what I want). I have 234 slides that I would like to put on one dvd with audio of 3 and a half minutes. When I make the slideshow in iphoto and then send to idvd to burn, (it makes it into a movie), all the slides (234) are there, but the music does not repeat. Can this be done? any help or suggestions greatly appreciated. Mary (hope I've mae myself clear)
Thanx Sue for your help. First try didn't work, but I only had the one song and it still would not repeat. so what I did , was make 10 copies of the song that I took out of itunes, moved it to the desktop and from there, I made 10 copies on the cd and then copied those into itunes. Then used that playlist in iphotos slideshow, then exported it to idvd, and then it finally worked.... thanx again for all your help,. I was really getting very frustrated. I hadn't used forums before, but I'm a user and believer now for sure. Mary

Can Keynote play PowerPoint slideshows with audio intact?
I mean iOS Keynote on iPad and OS X Keynote on Mac OS X! To play PowerPoint slideshows with built in audio and not just throw up slides.
Keynote isn't at all good at dealing with audio, so whether it's worth trying largely depends on the content of your powerpoints and how many you need to transfer.
If it were me, I think I'd look at using OpenOffice - it may make a better job of things for you. -
I am trying to add audio with my slide-show by adding a track from a cd.
Unfortunately however, I get the message:
"There is currently not enough audio in slide-show to fit the slides.
A minimum of 39 seconds is required."
The piece of music selected is 2.27MB.
I am successful however when using music from the My Music samples
file provided with my computer - 747KB.
I am run Windows XP
Your help will be appreciated.

Captivate 5.5 with Windows 7 -- Audio breaks
Since getting a new laptop at work with a Windows 7 o/s, the audio in Captivate gives me heartburn. I did not decide to write until a co-worker experienced the same issues. Basically, if you record audio slide/slide using F5, it sounds fine if you play it in the audio editor or if you replay it on the timeline. However, when you go to preview and/or publish, the audio breaks off and leaves off phrases/words at the end of sentences. It doesn't seem to matter if I use my voice to record or if I use text-to-speech. I have the same problem.
I'm ready to dump Captivate after using it for 5 years!I can personally verify that Captivate 5.5 DOES definitely work on Windows 7 64bit OS. I have it on my own PC laptop, and I have a colleague with it on his 64bit laptop as well. I had it on a 32 bit desktop Win7 PC at my last client.
So your issue is probably due to something else.
My suggestion would be to ask your Tech person whether they have followed the recommended installation instructions for Captivate on Win7.
Setting up your computer to work with Captivate | Infosemantics Pty Ltd
It's quite possible that he's trying to install it with default locations pointing to virtual server folders or using roaming profiles etc, which Captivate does not like. You also need to launch Captivate with Run As Administrator privileges on Win7. -
Slideshow with audio skips first few slides
I have a simple slideshow with 50 slides and 5 audio clips. THe main menu consists of one button that starts up the slideshow. When the slideshow ends it should return to the main menu. First play should be the main menu. I set up the links correctly and the Encore preview works perfect. After the disc is burned, ejected, and reinserted, the movie doesn't go to the menu but goes directly to the slideshow. On another try it goes to the main menu but skips the first few slides when the show starts. What can I do to get the DVD to load to the main menu then start from the first slide?
The Begin Slideshow button has a link of slideshow18559... That's the slideshow's name followed by the name of the first slide-I don't think that's right
Here is first play (CD icon is selected)
Here is Begin Slideshow button selected
Here is rose menu hd selected to show links of Begin Slideshow and rose.psd(button) going to same place
Here is cameraslideshow selected to show link back to main menu for end actionI don't know why this isn't working; the links do look correct.
Audio can cause issues. mp3's are often a cause. Multiple audios clips on the same Encore timeline can cause issues. Audio gaps of even a few frames, or audio that is slightly shorter or longer than the video/slideshow can cause issues.
If you are putting multiple audio clips in the slideshow, I would take the audio to Premiere, and create one audio clip, and either dynamic link it, or export it as a wav.
Sometimes projects just get messed up, and the problems are resolved by starting a new project.
I prefer making menus the correct size for the Encore project, but some users seem to do fine ignoring this. I don't think this is likely to cause what you are seeing. -
Export Quicktime with Audio - timings to advance slides -does not work
Mac OS 10.6.1
iMac 27" 4 GB 1067 MHZ
Keynote 09 - 5.03
I opened a .ppt
I added an windows media file after getting it into GarageBand - so a GarageBand file actually
I timed the slides - this does not work either as a side remark - you can not just enter seconds there - they disappear - you need to use the arrows
If I test the slideshow, it runs nice in Keynote.
If I export it to Quicktime, the sound works, the slides do not advance.
(I think I had it once working before I moved my files to my new Mac)
Help please
nicoI'm just posting this as a general discovery....
I too have had many many frustrations with creating a slide show with audio clips linked to individual slides and a soundtrack music background. Of course this records fine and plays back fine in KN. The problem lies in any form of sharing/exporting. The audio either disappears or the timing goes nutty.
What I discovered was....During a manual recording in which I advance the slides and the builds within the slides, the tap of the space bar directly correlates to when the audio would stop in the exported version. ie. Slide one, audio set to start automatically after transistion, text has no builds, Slide 2, audio set to start automatically, text builds with each bullet. In the exported version the second I hit the space bar to create the first build during the recording, is where the audio is cut off in the exported version.
Therefore, if I go through each and every slide and set the timing for each and every build, transition, etc. , then record the slideshow so that I never have to hit the space bar to create builds (transitions to next slide seems to be fine) my exported recording seems to play back without problems. This is very tedious but seems to work (so far).
I hope I have explained my findings clearly. I also hope that this is somewhat helpful to the rest of the world -
Error message when I try to publish an iWeb photo album with audio to Mobileme:
I get the following error message when trying to publish a photo album with audio from iWeb to Mobileme. I've checked my account and I have plenty of available space on Mobileme and have logged in there.
An error occurred while publishing file “/private/var/folders/qg/qg-Qwo-82RWdDU+8ZNhusU+++TI/TemporaryItems/com.apple.i Web_9121_TEMP_344183369_3/sites/Site/Grand_Canyon_11_Slideshow_part_1_2_files/or iginal_2.jpg”. Try publishing again later.
Is there a problem with my photos or other content (I've added some songs to play in the slideshow)
Dan H.First see if you can publish your site to a folder on your hard drive. You can select the folder by clicking on the site's folder in iWeb and using the Publish To: menu.
If that's successful try the following:
delete the iWeb preference files, com.apple.iWeb.plist and com.apple.iWeb.plist.lockfile, that resides in your Home() /Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
launch iWeb and try again.

CS5.5--Issues with audio from imported avi's & issues exporting
To Start, my laptop:
CPU: Intel® Core ™ i7-2330QM CPU @ 2.00 GHz
CPU Clock Frequency: 2.00 GHz
System Memory: 8 GBytes
Cache Memory: 1 MBytes/6 Mbytes
Manufacturer: Sony Corporation
Model name: VPCF226FM
BIOS VERSION: R1190V#
OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
ME Version: 7.0.10.1203
System Type: 64-bit Operating System
I downloaded the 30-day free trial of Premiere Pro CS5.5 with all updates. To play with the program, for my own personal amusement, I wanted to edit together pieces from a bunch of avi videos that I know to play properly outside the program, tested on more than one computer.
At first, importing the files seemed to be no problem, making subclips as I went along.
However, as I continued to import files, there began to be a sound issue--sometimes the sound not being present till I was 1/3 of the way through the clip, sometimes the sound seemingly playing catch up with audio that should be earlier in the video appearing later, sometimes the sound wouldn't come up at all, and still other times I'd be, for example, on video 5 when pieces of audio from video 2 would start playing over the current video.
I initially thought it may just be a memory issue, working with many large video files.
But later, when I went to edit the subclips I made, I found that many of them no longer had sound, even if they did when I initially subclipped them.
Weirdly, in the timeline, there is no consistency, as clips will appear in the video track but only some show audio tracks too. But those with audio tracks don't always play audio and those that show NO audio tracks at all actually do play audio sometimes. Also, those that show audio tracks and don't play them sometimes will show waveforms, sometimes don't. A clip with no waveform may not play 95% of the time, but then occasionally will suddenly have the waveform and play a couple times before reverting back to no audio.
A suitable solution for this personal amusement project would just be to drop a new soundtrack over the thing but, before I even got that far, I tried exporting as avi's and mpeg4's but then get error messages such as:
Premiere Pro has encountered an error.
[..\..\Src\Win\WinFile.cpp-785]
Error compiling movie.
Unknown error.
In case it was a memory issue, I tried starting a new project, only importing 2 videos, but had the same audio and exporting issues.
I'm getting really frustrated as I spent a lot of time importing/subclipping and then even more time prepping before that.
For those who are bound to ask, while new to Premiere, I'm not a novice with editing. I've used Final Cut Pro at work for many years (without such issues).

TS3367 audio breaks while using FaceTime video
Since installing IOS7, the audio breaks up on my FaceTime video calls to my grandchildren. They have no trouble hearing me but have not 'upgraded' to IOS 7.
The problem is not my wifi—coincidentally I had FaceTimed in the am, updated to IOS 7, and then FaceTimed almost immediately with my other grandchild and discovered the problem. Does anyone know how to remedy this?Just found several other forum strings dedicated to the facetime issue.

Hi. I'm unable to save a Keynote slideshow that I made with an iTunes song associated with it. I see the "Copy Audio & Movies into Document" in the Save As box, and it's selected but greyed out.
I need to be able to play this show, with audio, on my notebook.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Jimpurchased songs are only a problem if you give the file to someone else. Your bigger problem is you only get the option to save the audio in the file when you FIRST save it. You could try doing a save as, but if that doesn't work, you might have to start a new file and drag all your slides over to it, and then save it and check the boxes.

Playback sync with audio?
It seems that in After Effects you can't play - with audio - from anywhere in the timeline, only from the beginning.
But you CAN in Photoshop Extended. Doesn't seem right.
(All I want to do is make a simple video sequence where images appear synced to sound,
and Keynote has no timeline feature. Is there some simple software that can make and export a .mov sound-slide show in a specific pixel size?)It seems that in After Effects you can't play - with audio - from anywhere in the timeline
Incorrect. Check the Preview panel and enable the From current time option. For everything else I suggest you do a little searching on this forum (via Google, as obviously the built-in search is down and didn't cut it to begin with) and study some tutorials such as one of Andrew Kramer's first ones on Videocopilot.net dealing with creating slideshows. Also broaden your scope to include alternate tools like Captivate or Flash Catalyst or even Encore...

Quicktime export with Audio ?
Using Keynote '08, when I export a Keynote presentation with Recorded Timing using Quicktime for export, there is none of the audio that I recorded. Has this been fixed in Keynote '09, or do I still have to use some kind of workaround?
For clarity's sake -----
I got the EXPORT with Audio to Quicktime part to work, using the DEMO of Keynote '09.
But I was NOT able to get Keynote '09 to RECORD the Audio.
When I tried to do an animation with Recorded Timing using Keynote '09, here's what happened.
I set up a small animation with a move.
Hit the RECORD button.
Spoke over the top of the animation.
It looked like it was recording.
The red light was on and the little meter was working.
But after finishing, when I went back to the Audio section in the Inspector,
there was no Slideshow Recording listed.
In other words - the recording did not take.
So I had to do my ANIMATION & AUDIO RECORDING using Keynote '08.
And then open that file using Keynote '09.
Then EXPORT using Quicktime.
That worked.
Go figure.
I'm using ---
PowerBook 1GHz with 512 MB Ram & 64 MB VRam
OS X 10.5.6

Problems with audio on DV import
Hi
I have both FCPX and Final Cut Studio 3 installed on my system. I am starting to capture some SD 4:3 DV footage from a Panasonic GS500 Camcorder connected via firewire 400. I have set my import up as Standard PAL video with audio set to Stereo, 32kHz, Apple ProRes 422 ( audio matches the 12bit recording from the camera ). However when the import begins the audio starts to break up on ingest and eventually cuts out completely, even though the origional tape is fine.
I have also tried on my laptop with the same results.
My workround is to capture the footage in iMovie 11 and then import the footage direct into FCPX, this works no problem but I would like to just import straight into FCPX!
Has anyone else had this problem or any ideas what to do?
Many thanksThe audio on the tape is 12bit not 16bit. I thought that if the audio is 16bit you import as 48kHz and if 12bit you import as 32kHz. The audio when captured in iMovie comes through to FCPX as 32kHz 12bit. Also when I have tried to import in FCP7 from the same tapes with an easy setup of DV 48kHz the audio is out of sync whereas DV 32kHz is fine.
I will try your suggestion however.
Many thanks for your quick reply.
