FRUSTRATED! With Update - Please help cant use itunes at all

I have tried to update my itunes to the latest version it does not work and now i can not even open the old version - let me explain what pops up as I try to do the update.
After I have saved and open the itunes set up the following things happen
I click install and a box opens that reads
- the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailabe. Click ok to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'itunes.msi' in the box below.
I click ok and another window pops up that says
- The path 'c\documentsandsettings\Becky\Localsettings\applicationdata\apple\applesoftware update\itunes.msi' can not be found. Verify that you have access to this location and try again, or try to find the installation package 'itunes.msi'in a folder from which you can install the product itunes.
the next thing that happens is I click ok (because this is the only option that it gives me)then it goes back to the first message that it gave me. Then when I try to close the window it tells me
- the older version of itunes can not be removed contact your technical support group.
CAN ANY ONE HELP ME WITH THIS PLEASE - I REALLY WOULD LIKE TO UPDATE MY IPOD AND ADD SOME MORE MUSIC TO IT.

When you get messages about problems with msi files, you need to clean up your installer files with the Microsoft Installer cleanup utility. Here is a method for removal of the old iTunes, clean up and reinstall:
== uninstall with cleanup ==
Download a fresh copy of iTunes and the stand alone version of Quicktime (the one without iTunes)

Download and install Microsoft Installer cleanup utility, there are instructions on the page as well as the download. Note that what you download is the installer not the program – you have to run it to install the program. The installer doesn't give any message to confirm the installation.

Now use the following method to remove iTunes and its components:
XP

*If you hit a problem with one of the uninstalls don't worry*, carry on with the deleting of files and folders as directed in the method.
When you get to deleting Quicktime files in the system32 folder as advised in the method, you can delete any file or folder with Quicktime in the name.
Restart your PC.
Run the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility. (Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up)
Remove any references you find to the programs you removed - strictly speaking you only need to worry about those programs where the uninstall failed.
If you don’t see an entry for one of the programs that did not uninstall, look out for blank entries or numeric entries that look like version numbers e.g. 7.x for Quicktime or 1.x for Bonjour.
restart your PC
Install the stand alone Quicktime and check that it works.
If it does, install iTunes.

    i was using the previous version and just started off an update when prompted for iTunes 7.7, but the update then failed (sadly it didnt really give any info about the failure). I have tried downlaoding and installing manualy but still no joy the installation just fails and says i need to reinstall iTunes.
    However....i cant uninstall it :o I have tried uninstalling through add>remove programs but it just gets so far then seems to roll back and iTunes is still there.
    I tried doing a repair with the itunes 64 setup but that didnt seem to work either.
    I have since uninstalled quick time and tried to uninstall iTunes but still stuck in the same situation of it refusing to uninstall.

    Okay. Let's try uninstalling the existing version by other means.
    Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility:
    Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
    Now launch Windows Installer CleanUp ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"), find any iTunes entries in the list of programs in CleanUp, select those entries, and click “remove”.
    Next, we'll manually remove any leftover iTunes program files:
    (1) Open Local Disk (C:) in Computer or whichever disk programs are installed on.
    (2) Open the Program Files folder.
    (3) Right-click the iTunes folder and select Delete and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion.
    Now restart the PC and try another install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Very frustrated with Mail, please help

    Hi All,
    First of all, I want to tell you that I just moved from a PC to Mac, but I am very computer savvy so I had no problems moving my emails, addresses and all that to Mail, as well as performing any other tasks on the Mac. However, I have one VERY weird problem. Please bare with me as I explain....
    I have 3 (three) email accounts setup in Mail. The two of them work fine. The third one has problems receiving emails, it does NOT receive emails at all.
    When I try to setup this account, I get an error that the mail server is not accessible. I thought that the mail server was offline but I still tried to access the mail server through the web access. I COULD access it. Then I tried to receive mail in Mac Mail and I got NO error messages, but I did NOT receive any of my test email messages that I sent myself on that email. I was trying to figure out what the problem was, but with no success. Then I thought I will try accessing the emails through Entourage. I was shocked when Entourage DID recieve the emails from that mail server and that email account. Well, by now I was VERY confused and frustrated. Entourage CAN access the email account, but Mail can NOT access it!??! I am using exaclty the same settings for both and still the result is the same.
    I didn't know what else to do, so I called the Apple tech support. They were also confused with the issue. They escalated the issues to the engineers and they told me that the server is an Exchange server and that I should access it as such not on POP. Well , no luck again.
    So, to sum it up, I can receive email from this mail account from EVERYWHERE except from Mac Mail. I can also access it from Entourage on this same computer, from the web, from a PC laptop I have, but not from Mac Mail.
    PLEASE HELP!!! I don't know what to do any more. I hate to use Entourage because I just moved from a PC to a MAC and I don't want to be using the same Microsoft crap (which unfortunatelly is working properly). Any advice and suggestions are more then welcome.
    BTW, I did try all of things that I read in different posts on this forum on similar issues (deleting the "mail" folder in library, etc), but none worked. I also tried uninstalling Mail and installing it again, again no luck.

    I have no direct experience with Exchange servers, so take this with a grain of salt, but my understanding is that for Mail to be able to communicate with one, it must be configured to allow IMAP access at the server. See the Mail help topic "Setting up your email accounts," which says in part:
    "An Exchange account allows you to connect to your Exchange server via IMAP, and if you enter text in the Outlook Web Access Server field, Mail filters non-email related content from the server. (You can get the text you need to enter from your mail account provider.) For Exchange to work with Mail, Exchange administrators need to configure the Exchange server for IMAP access. Some system administrators may refer to an Outlook Web Access Server as an Internet Information Services (IIS) server."
    IOW, if you can't convince the administrators that not everyone in the world uses proprietary Microsoft application "standards" (which of course exist for the good of the world & not just for MS), there isn't much you can do except use the crappy apps that Microsoft owns, along with the standards they enforce ... for the good of the world, of course. :-/

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    When your account becomes disabled, Apple provides the following recommendation:
    "This message means that someone tried and failed to sign in to your account multiple times. The Apple ID system disables the account to prevent unauthorized people from gaining access to your information. You need to reset your password, following the instructions at the Apple ID website".
    Visit iForgot.com and follow the instructions there.
    In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
    Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
    In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
    In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > store, scroll down and tap your ID)
    If that doesn't help you might try contacting Apple through iTunes Store Support

  • Frustrated with OracleMembershipProvider - Please help I'm losing hair!

    I've been trying to setup the membership provider on my local machine and have only succeeded in losing sleep and hair. Here is what I have done so far:
    1. Installed Oracle 10g XE database
    2. Created schema with full DBA rights
    3. Installed Oracle 11g ODAC 11.1.0.5.10 Beta
    4. Successfully ran ODAC sql scripts (aspnetcommon and membership)
    4. Added XE schema credentials to connection string "OraAspNetConString" in machine.config
    5. Added Oracle membership provider to web.config as default
    6. Added Oracle.Web.dll assembly to project
    Now for the problem:
    I run the ASP.Net Configuration and select the 'Provider' tab.
    When I choose 'Select a single provider for all site management data', only AspNetSqlProvider is shown. Where is the Oracle Provider??
    When I choose 'Select a different provider for each feature (advanced)', I see the Oracle Provider for Membership and Roles. I select both then try to enter 'Security' tab. It will hang then come back with this error:
    "There is a problem with your selected data store. This can be caused by an invalid server name or credentials, or by insufficient permission. It can also be caused by the role manager feature not being enabled. Click the button below to be redirected to a page where you can choose a new data store. "
    What am I doing wrong?? I've searched this forum and can't find the answer.

    Suggestions:
    1. check your machine.config. If OracleMembershipProvider and OracleRoleProvider were not added into the entry, I recommend that reinstall Oracle Providers for ASP.NET. If all files are already copied to your system and you don't want to reinstall, you may use the OraProvCfg.exe (under your ...client_1\ASP.NET\BIN\2.x) to update your machine.config for these two providers.
    2. copy sqlnet.ora and tnsnames.ora from your 10g XE installation to your 11g ODAC 11.1.0.5.10 Beta installation in the same Network\Admin location. Please search this forum for the details. You may also want to check your system environment variable TNS_ADMIN. If it's there, rename or delete it. Follow the instructions in this forum about how to check your connection.
    3. if you had a successful installation, you should be able to use .NET Framework 2.0 gacutil.exe to check the assembly is listed. (Don't use 1.x gacutil.exe to check as it won't "see" it.)
    gacutil /l oracle.web
    4. in your application configuration file (web.config), try the second web.config example in the doc which customizes the attribute values. You may put the two sections from OracleMembershipProvider and OracleRoleProvider samples together within the <system.web> </system.web> section.
    You may set the values same as your machine.config if you want to use default values. Don't forget to change the connection string on the top of the web.config.

    I had the original files stored in several locations (I've since moved them all to one location), but for almost all of my songs, iTunes displays the message "the song could not be used because the original file could not be located. Would you like to locate it?"
    Is there anyway to have iTunes automatically locate every song, instead of having to manually go through each song?

    I think you meant 10.6.8, not 10.8.6
    It requires an upgrade, instead of a free update.

    Similar problem here.  iTunes11 notified me it was available.  However, auto-update failed.  So, I downloaded for manual update.  That failed with "permission" message.  I am administrator on this machine (WIN7).  I tried uninstalling old version, but it failed with same permission issue.  I now can't start iTunes... throws permission message.  So, I'm completely dead in the water.  Does this stuff get tested before it's shipped?

    That camera shoots H.264 in an .avi wrapper.
    You will have to transfer the files via the Finder.
    Get a free copy of MPEG Streamclip and convert them to QuickTime .mov using the H.264 codec if you are presumably editing in iMovie.
    Note that your list of video codecs won't look like mine as I have Final Cut Pro, but H.264 is definitely an option for you.
