Frustration With IBM EZ Serv Tech Depot

Sent my T61p in to get the following fixed:
-clipping on videos and games by the Nvidia Quadro FX570m
-a slightly cracking palm rest
-appearance of darker spots on the LCD
-loose hinges that make the screen wobble back and forth
According to my representative, only the first one is replaceable under warranty while all the others are billable. I had sent the computer in prior to have the chassis fixed for unevenness when resting on a table, but apparently the problems had continued causing the last three problems. I might understand why the LCD is billable since the technicians can't really verify whether it was due to the case of the computer or undue pressure caused in some instance - although to note, the computer was only used as a workstation on a desk. 
My issue is that the depot won't replace the hinge citing "broken plastics", which apparently are not covered under my Thinkplus warranty, even though the hinge is only loose. Has anyone had issues with the depot refusing service for this absurd reason? Essentially, what the representative was telling me was that my warranty is useless since it can't be repaired whether actually worn or broken.
Further, after requesting to have pictures sent to me of the "broken" hinge, I discovered a key was missing off the keyboard. The representative stated to me that the keyboard is billable, even though I had sent it in without defect! My case is being reviewed by her manager to see if it will be escalated, but I would like to hear about what I can do as a consumer seeking to get this issue resolved.

  • How to config AM agent with websphere app server which binded http server??

    I am configuing AM policy agent with websphere 6.0 application server , the difference to the normal situation is : the IBM application server is binding with IBM http server so the server can deal with request from the port 80. It puzzled me much what shall I do when I installing the agent, the following are the questions:
    1. Enter the Instance Config Directory: -- shall i use the config folder for "server1" or "webserver1"?
    2. Enter the Server Instance name. -- shall i use the "server1" or "webserver1"?
    3. Enter the preferred port number on which the application server provides its services: -- shall i use "80"(web server) or "9080"(app server) ,
    4. Enter the preferred port number on which the application server provides its services: -- yes i should fill "/agentapp" here, but when i deploy this application, the web module should be "webserver1" or "server1"?
    And yet I only need SSO here , what is the easiest way to configue them well? I do not want to obey the contents from DOC, at fact it makes my websphere crashed ... I think maybe I can use "filter" for application only after I installed the agent, is that right? but it make me crazy that, websphere told me it can not find the class javax.servlet.Filter ... I copied one for it ,but it still can not work. I think maybe I make wrong configuration before .
    Is the document "Sun Java SystemAccess Manager PolicyAgent 2.2 Guide for IBM WebSphereApplication Server 6.0" only for stand alone application server?

    If you are trying to install j2ee Agent 2.2 then the below answers may be helpful. i am not sure what webserver1 is ?
    Remeber all config for j2ee agent is for the app server.

    Follow the SUN Docs strictly and it should work fine.

  • IBM MCS Server RUnning Unity with NIC Teaming

    All,
    has anyone ever run NIC teaming on and IBM MCS Server with Unity before? At question is the fact that many severs create a virtual MAC address that is different from either of the actual MACs when you team NICs. If this is the case on the IBM Servers then we may need to request an updated license. The servers are branded as Cisco MCS-7835-I1
    units.

    The 7825-I4 is an IBM IBM x3250-M2. You can use that model number to search the IBM drivers page for the things you need:

    Create a new apple id - OR
    create a new free web base email - sign into the apple id you have now edit the primary email address with the just newly created email save [you justs freed your email address from being an apple id]
    Once you have all the4 correct information/data etc needed to be able to then chose option None
    use that email to create apple id

  • LACP with a Cisco 2960G and an IBM I7 Server

    I am attempting to get LACP working with a Cisco 2960 and an IBM I7 server.
    The connection seems redundant.  I can unplug GI0/8 and traffic still flows and clients are not disconnected from the IBM I7.  I can do the same with GI0/9 once GI0/8 is plugged back in.
    Two issues.
    1.  How can I change the LACP timer from slow to fast?
    2.  Why does my port Gi0/8 show as INDEP in the show lacp detail command?

    With IBMi7 the support for LACP starts to my knowledge since i7.1 TR7. If that is your case will you please post the DSPLIND (with AGGRSCL option) command output.
    As for the LACP fast timer setting while it can be configured on various Cisco boxes I am affraid it cannot be done with Cat2960.

  • System Deployment with 10.5 Server System Image Utility

    I am trying to image a classroom lab of iMacs and I'm getting nowhere mighty fast.
    I have created the 10.5 client image on a test machine and had it placed on test for students and faculty. After the image was tested for stability I was ready to create the image for deployment. In the past I had used Bombich's NetRestore to deploy images but have found it to be incompatible with 10.5, as it will not resolve the Leopard ByHost file problem correctly. While I can create a Net Install image using the 10.5 System Image Utility I can't determine how to deploy it with multicast ASR. As least from what things appear, the Net Install will run as a unicast and if I try to run it on a number of machines it will bog down the network so severely that it will be impossible to deploy the image - at least this is my understanding.
    The last time I had assistance from our regional Apple System Engineer he informed me of an application call Proton Pack, but I can neither get the application to recognize the image nor do I understand how the main issue, the ByHost file, will be corrected without any sort of post-install action taking place since as far as I know mASR on the client only "grabs" the image and doesn't to anything more. I had emailed our System Engineer twice and have yet to hear from him. I can't let this go much longer.
    The frustration is mounting as those above me want these machines deployed and there always seems to be problems with this. There are great and robust solutions in the Windows world, how come there isn't anything as simple and elegant as the likes of Ghost? At this point I'm about at my wit's end and find myself cursing the very platform that I had been championing for more than 24 years.

    Sorry to vent, but I have just grown tired of the excuses. Even my sales rep is quick to try to point the finger elsewhere. I have been exposed to for the shortcoming of a consumer platform that is suppose to be targeted toward K-12 and businesses. If Apple is serious in being in the enterprise markets they need to have a decent, reliable tool, be it something from them or another vendor. Ghost for the Mac is a no-brainer, as I'm sure I'm not the only one who has wasted time with the pitfalls of Mac deployment. I know I can't be the only one who is frustrated by the less than optimal methodology to rolling out Macs in this manner.

    This is a reoccurring scenario with Mac deployments which is getting old and tired. I'm up to the point to let these machines sit in the boxes since my time could be better used to support PCs.
    Sadly it seems most people are missing the point that the tools that are suppose to make this work, don't. If you have the patience to work around these shortcoming, that's good. If you have the knowledge of being able to script your way around the areas where the tools promise something but don't carry through, you score more points. I, for one, don't have the luxury of time on my side, being dealt a multitude of district responsibilities that include areas besides PC and Mac support.

  • Cisco Phone Control and Presence 8.6.1.1185 with IBM Lotus Notes 8.5.2 (Integrated Sametime Client 8.0.2) - No presence status visible

    I am trying to integrate Cisco Unified Presence 8.6.1.10000-34 with IBM Lotus Notes 8.5.2 with the integrated Sametime Client version 8.0.2 via the Cisco Plugins 8.6.1.1185.
    Phone control is working fine, whereas the presence status is not shown (= no handset symbol next to the Sametime user). When I look in the preferences of the plugin, I can see that the plugin has connected successfully to the CUCM (8.6.2.20000-2),whereas the connection to the CUPS has not been established.
    The user id as well as the password are all the same on all systems. Here is a description of what I have configured via the ciscocfg.exe tool:
    Feature Control:
    - Enable Phone Status -> checked
    - Enable Dial Using Cisco IP Communicator -> unchecked (not required)
    - Enable Control Desk Phone -> checked
    - Default Mode -> Control Desk Phone
    Control Desk Phone Settings:

    Servers and clients used:
    1x CUCM 8.6.2.20000-2
    1x CUPS 8.6.1.10000-34
    1x IBM Lotus Domino Messaging Express Server 8.5.2
    1x Sametime Entry Server 8.5.2 (on top of the Domino server)
    2x IBM Lotus Notes 8.5.2 with integrated Sametime 8.0.2
    2x Cisco Phone Control and Presence with Lotus Sametime (PCAP) 8.6.1.1185
    2x Cisco Unified Personal Communicator 8.5.5.19839
    Setup:
    - CUCM, CUPS and CUPC are working fine, i.e. Desk Phone control via CUPC, as well as availability and presence status are working without issues
    - IBM Lotus Domino server is the LDAP Directory, the Sametime Entry Server is installed on top of the Domino server and uses the Domino Directory
    - User ID and password on CUCM/CUPS match the ShortName field and password in Domino
    - The PCAP plug-in has been manually deployed to both Notes clients with the following configuration:
         - Enable Phone Status -> active
         - Desk Phone Control -> active
         - no credential synchronization for CUCM and CUPS, i.e. every user must fill the user details himself
         - Sametime User ID Mapping is implemented via the LDAP Attribute uid (which is equal to the user id in CUCM)
         - LDAP configuration filled in with details of the Domino server
    Phone Control is working fine, also the connection to the LDAP server (Domino) is fine. However, when I type in the credentials for the CUPS server login, I can see (in Troubleshooting pane) that the user (pparker) is connected to the CUPS server for a short period of time and then gets disconnected. After that no connection is possible to the CUPS server, i.e. status is always disconnected.
    I have collected the Tomcat (EPASSoap00010.log and security00010.log) logs via RTMT and compared them to the logs from the PCAP plugin. The relevant time period is from 15:14 to 15:17. In the Tomcat logs I can see that the authentication is successful (see attached files), however in the log of PCAP plugin I can see the following messages:

    Those errors remind me on errors I encountered when I was trying to do installation that was not certified,
    so try to check if installation you are doing is actually supported.
    In the meantime , visit metalink and read document [ID 460969.1] , */usr/bin/ld: Cannot Find -lxml10, Genclntsh: Failed To Link Libclntsh.so.10.1*

  • Internal Server Error while using IBM HTTP SERVER

    I used Webstudio tool to develop a JSP page and publish it on the IBM HTTP Server. When i was previewing the file, I got a internal server error 500 with the message of misconfiguration. I will be
    extremely happy if you can provide an answer for this. All the path and classpath settings are good.

    Are you talking AS400? Websphere Application Server? Are you sure the file is in the right place? By default jsp's go in a folder or directory called 'web' which resides in the same directory as the 'servlets' directory. So in one directory you would have two directories, one called servlets for .class files and one called web for jsps. I don't know if this helps or not, but check it out. But I don't know if this were your problem if you wouldn't get a 'NOT FOUND' error instead of the misconfiguration error.

    My tech support guys have been working on my iPhone for an entire day and couldn't get it to work with the server. They are telling me that the phone isn't compatible with the exchange server and it would require an entire overhaul of our server and reconfiguration to get it to work. I thought the new iPhone was supposed to be so easy to use. I am so ready to ditch my blackberry and so very disappointed that I can't get the iPhone to work with our server. Macintosh support was completely useless to help figure out this problem- as they said they don't offer support to third party software- yet this phone is supposed to work with the Microsoft Exchange Server?! Can anyone offer any help?

After spending considerable time with both AT&T and Macintosh, getting the phone to operate with exchange as easy as Macintosh advertises, has ended in a failure. Your phone device itself, is properly updated and has all the correct settings. Where the problem lies for you is on the Microsoft server end. This is where the server will have to have additional software and updates installed which would effect and change the peacock network environment. This can be potentially accomplished, however it will need to be evaluated for the additional costs and potential risks to the server and environment. That’s why BlackBerry is so popular with business networks, because it does not affect the Microsoft Exchange mail services in any shape or form. Blackberry runs on its own server service which acts as the bridge to communicate with the Microsoft service.

    Actually Blackberry has two options, one where they pull from your server and then push it to your phone as described. Alternatively you can install their software on your server to relay. Both require additional services, software and fees. Instead the iPhone uses the ActiveSync included in the Exchange server, which is the same protocol used to communicate with Windows Mobile based devices.

    Essentially Apple does not configure Microsoft Exchange for your admins. We do provide a list of what versions of ActiveSync and which ActiveSync features we support. However, ActiveSync is part of the Microsoft Exchange server maintained and configured by your Exchange server admins.

  • We can't install Solaris 8 - IBM PC SERVER 315

    Hello:
    We are trying to install Solaris 8 (Intel) (02/02) in an IBM PC Server 315.
    Some words about it:
    - 128 Mb RAM
    - Pentium Pro 200 Mhz
    - Adaptec AHA-2940U/2940UW Ultra SCSI in PCI bus1,Slot 4 (Info from Solaris install) (Target 7)
    - Hard Disk IBM SCSI (Target 0)
    - CD-Rom SCSI IBM CDRM00203 (Target 6 of SCSI) (info from Solaris install)
    We have a big problem.
    We can't install Solaris from CD.
    After Loading kernel , when it begins Searching /dev and /devices...we see this text in the screen repeated a lot of times:
    WARNING: /pci@0,0/pci1011,24@2/pci9004,8178@1(adp0):
    timeout: abort device, target=6 lun=0
    And before this something like it has some problem and begins a resinc ??
    Please Could you help us?

    two other severs wouldn't run the cd either? Break it down a little it will be more solvable. We will create two separate problems with this. First we will check the cd disk itself. Put in another system and install solaris. If that works, move to the cdrom drive....move it to the same computer you just installed solaris on...if it works then it is another problem.

  • Frustrated with lack of help!

    I up graded my phone to an iphone 5c.  I received it yesterday and call the 800# to activate my phone.  During the phone call I was transferred to customer service because my phone was unable to activated.  I was on hold for 30 mins and the customer service rep told me there was nothing she could do manually I would have to call the 800#.  I did this 3 times, each time told the same thing!   Finally the 4th time I told the rep I needed to speak to a manager and he informed me the manager wasn't available and to call tech support.  So my 5th phone call to Verizon I spoke to a girl in tech support who was able to tell why my phone wasn't unable to be activated.  the SIM card that was preinstalled was never registered and I would have to go to a Verizon store to get one.  Here's my problem again, I leave in a rural western pa.  I called my local store and they told me I would have to buy a SIM card because they are not a corporate store!  The closets corporate store is 1 hour away.  I am so frustrated with verizons lack of system checks that I just want to send the phone back!!  I have never had this many problems with Verizon and I have been a customer for 15 years.

    Verizon can mail you a Sim for free. No travel time to a corporate store.
