FS7: A Camera of Many "Whys"

Why does the shutter speed change of its own accord and become either "Shutter Angle" or a different setting, say 1/30 instead of 1/60?Why does the "Full Auto" button light up of its own accord, and remain lit, even when Full Auto is disengaged? Of course, giving the impression that it's on when it isn't.Why did the On/Off switch not work, forcing me to pull the battery to switch off power. And of course, having done that . . .Why did the camera fail to turn on at all when the battery was reinstalled or DC power from the wall applied? Why was I only able to restore the camera and power up after removing every attachment: lens, cards, EVF, battery, and DC power supply? Why are there so many issues with this camera that leaves me less than confident in its longevity and its reliability? I know this is a Swiss Army knife kind of camera, cramming so many features and functions into a small package. But i can count on a Swiss Army knife. I just wonder how long I can count on my Sony FS7?David

Just today, we're shooting in a studio green screen set-up, and there's the illuminated Auto button flickering. WTF, we're not even using Full Auto. At least the camera turned on and off as it should. Whew! Lenny, on a separate note, I think i have to bump up the to Metabones IV from the free one we got from Sony, the II. I think the baffling is suspect, and you know that those ****** adapters love to let in unwanted light, glare or whatever.  Thought I could dodge the $400 bullet, but nope.

  • Another BlackBerry Q5 camera issue. Why is BB ignoring the problem?

    Hi all
I love the blackberry Q5 , and appreciate the bb10 OS. Got bored of IOS and don't like the android phones...
I was happy with it until the camera stopped working three days ago.
I blocked all third party apps, drained the battery, security wiped twice, shut down and restarted the phone dozens of times, downloaded two camera apps... But none of this worked.
I still get the can't change flash mode message or can't access then camera one.
Odd thing, I tried snapchat and would get then front camera working.
The handset is no longer under warranty .
I'm wondering why BlackBerry is ignoring the issue, noticed many similar problems with loads of other users that had even changed the camera module.
Any suggestions? I'm worried to change for other Q5 or Q10 as the malfunction seems quite recurrent...
    Help anyone?
    Thanks!

Well, since the original poster of this thread fixed his already, why don't you start from the beginning and let us know what exactly the problem is and what, exactly, you've done to try and solve it.
You replaced hardware? So, you've disassembled the device?
    How have you "restored software?"
Provide as many details as possible.
    1. Please thank those who help you by clicking the "Like" button at the bottom of the post that helped you.
    2. If your issue has been solved, please resolve it by marking the post "Solution?" which solved it for you!

  • Lightroom Mobile iPhone won't import complete camera roll. Why?

Several re-installs and crashes later, I'm still not able to bring in 900 images from my iPhone 5s' camera roll.
Though there are something like 900 photos and videos, LR mobile only brings in about 250. And when I browse the thumbnails for those 250, many of them are just black boxes. And that was my *best* result. Earlier attempts resulted in LR crashing during the import process, with "delete and reinstall" being my only option. Even manual one by one imports after the initial import attempt of the camera roll don't seem to be working.
I was so excited by the LR mobile sync, but the majority of my iOS photos are on my phone. Would love to get this working!

Could you try the import after  a "Delete Data" via Lightroom Preferences->Lightroom Mobile and a resign-in.
When you add new photos to your mobile device, Lr mobile needs to import the photos locally and send previews+metadata to the back-end. It seems that some of this data was not send.
If you still see the issue while processing the import could you trigger a diagnostic log.
The Lr Mobile app log can be triggered when you open up the settings and long press the to LR Icon a diagnostic log will be generated and attached to your local mail client.
Send me a LR Desktop diagnostig log  - best as a private message with a downloadable dropbox link.
You can trigger the log via LR Desktop prefereneces -> Lightroom Mobile and when you hold down the alt key you will notice a generate diagnostic log button

  • I just tried to import photos from iphone to MacAir  but only some came across, many others as dark space. The app thinks I have transferred them all but I want to redo the process and it is not obvious how to do that. I deleted the dark images  already,

How may I reimport photos from my iphone 4s to the MacAir iPhoto as only some images came across.. It is not obvious to me, like it is with other programs I have used.

Also, you can have Image Capture automatically open when you connect the phone or any camera. To do that you need to open iPhoto on your Mac (yes, the setting is in iPhoto and that is a bit strange).
Why do I have to buy iPhoto to get to a setting so that I don't have to use iPhoto?!?! Not very Apple-like.
If the device is attached and highlighted in Image Capture, the setting is in the bottom left corner.

  • Image capture doesnt detect camera plugged in, why ?

  • My iPhone 6 does not have a "recently deleted" album in the camera roll? why not?

my phone does not have a "recently deleted" album. I have photos on my phone and I can see them if I click on "photos" app and hit "photos" in the bottom left. But when I go to "albums" I the bottom right it says I have no photos and no "recently deleted" album either.
can anyone explain why I wouldn't have these?
    Thanks!

The reason you don't have "Recently Deleted" is you are using iCloud Photo Library (Beta).
Go to Settings > Photos & Camera and turn off "ICloud Photo Library (Beta)".

  • HT201302 I imported the photos from my camera rool to my computer and deleted the majority of them from my iPhone 5, however it still is telling me i have a large amount on the camera roll.  Why isn't the size reduced?

I imported photos from my camera roll to my computer and deleted the majority of them from my iPhone5, however the size of my camera rooll did not change.  Why??

If you have photo stream set up, that can take up a large amount of room, so check that too. And videos take up much more space than photos.

  • I don't have the colour effects for the camera from iOS7, why?

Under the iOS7 details, it said there would be colour effects effects for your camera. I downloaded iOS7 and I didn't get them. All my friends have it except for me and my family. Could someone please tell me why we aren't getting it?

Real time camera filters are only available for iPhone 4S & above. For an iPhone 4, you edit after taking the picture.

  • So many cameras so many options, need help?

So I don't know if this has been answered but I need a nice new/used DSLR camera. Im going to be using it 95% of the time for YouTube and 5% for photo. I would like it to be under $1000 but that sounds like a tough budget. I want a DSLR because all the YT channels I see that use them have the sharpest video quality I have seen.  I really want a sharp image when recording. I also need a DSLR because I also need photos. Photos that are good and sharp. So for doing YouTube what would you recommend? Also how much does the lens matter?

The entire "Rebel" line are under $1000 for both a body and kit lens.  Any DSLR and lens combination will generally yield fairly impressive quality compared to a non-DSLR.  But each lens has a character and which lens is best depends on what you want.
Lenses capable of low focal ratios can help draw attention to your subject by using selective focus... your intended subject is tack-sharp and yet the background is deliberately blurry.  Also low focal ratios lenses can naturally capture images in lower light because the lens collects more light when the shutter is open.  The trade-off is that as you decrease the focal ratio, the range of distances nearer and farther from the focused distance at which subjects will appear reasonably well-focused will be narrower -- but that's what helps you create a deliberately de-focused background.
The lowest possible focal ratio is typically part of the lens name and is listed as a value of f/__._  such as f/1.8... or as a range f/__._-__._ such as f/3.5-5.6.    If listed as a range, the first number is the lowest possible focal ratio available when the lens is at it's widest angle (shortest focal length) and the second number is the lowest possible focal ratio available when the lens is at it's narrowest angle (longest focal length).
The "sharpness" of the iamge is largely dictated by the lens.
Canon's newest bodies offer their new "STM" lenses which feature their stepper motor technology -- this will be of interest to you.  The stepper motors focus a bit faster than their traditional motor... but are almost completely silent.  Most cannot be heard by the built-in microphone on the camera when shooting video.   While they are faster to focus than the traditional motors, they aren't quite as fast as Canon's USM motors (which are also extremely quiet).  For better audio quality, you may want to consider a higher quality external mic -- such as one of the many Rode VideoMics available on the market.
If your goal is primarily to shoot video AND if you expect the camera to subject distance to change as you film, then you may seriously want to consider the Canon EOS 70D.  This has the best video focusing system on the market.  All other cameras have to perform "focus hunt" to track live video -- you can notice the camera hunting for correct focus distance when you watch a video.  The 70D has a unique and new focusing system and is not only faster to determine if an image is correctly focused... if focus adjustment is needed, the 70D knows if the focus is too close or too far (it knows which way to go) AND it knows how far to adjust focus.  It's quite a nice system.  The price of the 70D will break your $1000 budget.
The currently marketd Rebel bodies include the T3 (the start of the entry bodies), the T3i (it was the high end Rebel almost 3 years ago) and the T5i (the current top of the Rebel line).  The 70D is a mid-range body... it's just above the Rebel line.

  • I Movie not importing from my Sony HDR HCI camera...why?

My HD camera is not importing into I movie. When I import, it records just fine and it shows a clip being recorded. When stop the import after 5 or 7 minutes, I MOVIE then shows a total clip of a few seconds up to a few minutes, but never the whole clip.
    What is wrong?

    Hi Bob
HD Cameras is not my thing But the import problems I got some ideas about:
    - most common problem is wrong mix of Mac OS + iMovie version + QuickTime version.
    I would use Mac OS X.4.8 + iMovie 6.0.3 + QuickTime 7.1.3
The amount of free space on Your internal hard disk (more than 20Gb +
space for the movie material) - and make Import to this.
Other programs working in the background can interfrere - then mainly FileVault
    Turn this OFF!
    Yours Bengt W

  • IPhone iOS 7 No camera self timer, why?

I have been an avid iPhone supporter and for the first time find myself at a loss while on holiday with the family. There is no timer on the iPhone Camera iOS7. For a smart phone not to have this is madness. I ended up having to use my wifes Samsung S3 as her phone had the functionality I needed. This is a grave mistake guys. You  have great support from your users and to allow something as basic as this to be short compared to a sumsung phone is crazy!!! I really hope you guys get onto of this.

The reality is you're whinging about something you could've easily solved in a matter of seconds, but chose not to because of some arbitrary rule you've set yourself only allowing yourself "one app". OCD?
Basic functionality of a camera is the ability to take a picture. Anything else is an extra. Enough said.

  • I thought iPhone 4 just came in 8GB, why am I seeing larger in ebay?

(Not 4S), with 16 and 32 GB .. ?  Are these fake or something?
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Apple-iPhone-4-16GB-Unlocked-Black-Smartphone-Brand-New- /180796430014?pt=Cell_Phones&hash=item2a184e96be#ht_500wt_1413

No they are real. 1.5 years ago when the iPhone 4 was first released, it was out in 16 and 32GB capacitys.  Since the iPhone 4S is the new model, it ccomes in the 16, 32 and 64GB sizes and now the iPhone comes in only the 8GB so that there is a complete rand of sizes for anyone.

  • HT3847 Where did our files go, all of our history and imported and urchased files, when the 11.02 upgrade came in? Why is our library now empty?

We imported our itunes from an older imac. After the newest itunes upgrade,, all of our old files are gone. They are not showing in the libary.

    OB:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Does you backup copy of your V4 library contain all of your photos? That is have you added any to the new library that's giving you trouble? If not then try the following:
1 - copy your backup library folder to your HD and name it something like "Primary Library" and put it in your Pictures folder.
2 - download and run BatChmod on the Primary Library folder with the settings shown here, substituting your account name for mine. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field.
3 - launch iPhoto with the Option key depressed and, when asked, select the Find library option.
4 - navigate to the Pictures folder and select the Primary Library folder.
Then you'll go thru the upgrade process again. See if that won't get you thru it OK.
If albums are lost the pictures will still be in the main library.
