FSB for MS-6385?
Hi,
Anyone know the FSB for the MS-6385?. I cannot see it mentioned in the manual.
TIA
Found it in part 2 at 100FSB.
I have the chance of an ASUS P4T m/b on ebay to replace it, but that has 400 Mhz FSB. Would the RIMMs from the MS-6385 work ok in this m/b?
TIA

MSI KT3 Ultra ARU, FSB for Processor
Help me!
I have a KT3 Ultra ARU, which is lovely, however, I had an XP 1700+ with 512 DDR 266 Ram. The FSB was running at 133. However, i tried to change it, and it wouldn't boot.
Fine, so I resetted Cmos and all was ok.
I have now just installed an XP 2200+ with 512 DDR 333 Ram. My FSB, again, is 133, but i'm sure I read it can go up to 166 for these components. Is that right????
Many thanks in advance,
JonI know that the 40.41 drivers were specifically targeted to the vertex shader performance, thus increasing the nature test, however, I don't know what else they did to get such a high performance increase. All I can say is amazing. You can get the drivers here , that is assuming you are running winxp or 2000 as this driver only supports those.
Edit: It is a good idea to burn in your hardware before you go overclocking stuff. You may need to play with clock frequencies for your vid card as I can overclock alot higher then 305/605 but performance (and therefore score) drops significantly. Try different settings and run the test, when you feel comfortable overclocing. Be aware if you have never overclocked, that it can damage you components and void any warranty you have on your hardware. -
FSB for Barton XP3000+?
Hi!
What FSB should I have for my Barton XP3000+?
Currently it's set to 100, and Windows report my CPU to be 1700MHz.
I have never done these kind of settings before, I don't want to overclock my CPU, just have the right settings. :Dthats odd you sure its not running faster as it should show 1300 or 1150 at 100 fsb
AXDA3000DKV4E 3000+ 2100MHz 10.5x 200
AXDA3000DKV4D 3000+ 2167MHz 13x 166
there are 2 of them so try 166 first,if still slow then its a 200 one -
My motherboard (ABIT) which uses the Athlon 900MHz CPU. I bought a KM4M-V so I could use the same CPU. The specs say it supports a 100 FSB but the manual does not indicate how to set it to 100 FSB. It has 133 and 166. You set by jumpers SW1 and 2. Does anyone know the setting for 100 FSB so I use it with by 900Mhz AMD Athlon? Later on I will probably spend the money to put a faster processer, but for right now I want to use the exisitng parts I have.
Thanks.hi i hope im not too late to help everyone here, i also had the same problem i had try the sw1 and sw2 to pin 2 & 3, but didnt work, u know what, putting jumper sw1 and sw2 both to pin 2 and 3 is right, cause of all the 4 combinations it will give u the slowest fsb i think its 100mhz, but u will ask why is it still not working, through trial and error i found out that u need to buy a new power supply in order for it to work because u need to plug in the 12v 4 pin, unlike the old power supply which only had the 20 pin, by the way the 12v 4 pin is located near the center just beside the cpu, and unlike the 20 pin which is rectangle the 12v 4 pin is square, in my case i just upgrade my motherboard so i still got an old power supply, after changing my power supply to the new one i found out that even my oldest duron 650 also works with this board. hope everything i said is clear. by the way u need to download the manual from msi site because like my manual its outdated, it doesnt show u how to adjust the fsb.

Correct FSB for KT4 ultra 6950
Hi, I have a KT4 Ultra 6950 v1.0 (it has SATA so I think it's the "FISR" version but I don't know, nothing on mobo)
A few months ago, the speed of my PC took a nosedive, and I wonder if somehow the FSB has been reset/mis-set.
It's currently 100Mhz. I ran Fuzzy Logic 4, and it topped out at just 103Mhz.
However, I understand the KT4 should handle 200Mhz.
The memory is all 2700 (166Mhz) (1gb+512mb at the moment, another 1gb on order from crucial)
The CPUs are running at 50 degrees, the HDD at 60 degrees.
I don't know if I should manually set the FSB to 166 in the bios or not, bit scared!
Below is the output from CPU-Z. Sorry if I should have cut bits out, I'm not too sure what's important and what's not...
Anyone have any advise as to what the FSB should be set to please? Either to overclock it, or simply to put it to the 'correct' value?
Thanks,
Toby

Thanks for the link and info
Unfortunately I don't know the OPN. It's not being reported by any of the half dozen CPU reporting programs I've tried, and I don't really fancy taking the cooling fan off to find it
However I did find out that my CPU is a Thoroughbred Athlon XP. I still don't know the speed, but the MSI CPU list shows that the FSB should either be 133 or 166
I tried using "Fuzzy Logic 4" to set the FSB to 133, but the PC just instantly rebooted. I could try setting it to 166, or setting it in the bios directly, but now I'm afraid I'll either blow it up, or it won't boot and I'll need to blank the CMOS, which I'd prefer to avoid.
Any advice on how to proceed would be appreciated, thanks

just found out you can reach 333 fsb by shorting the L 12 jumpers on the t-bred :D
i have only tested it on the kt3 ultra 2
xp1800+ @1743(10.5x166) 39c under stress
kt3 ultra 2
256 kingmax ddr333 x2
40gb raid
toshiba dvd-r/-rw sd-r5002
coolermaster HHC-001
allied 400w psuDo you happen to know what code is on your mobile chip? Putting the code into google will tell you what voltage etc. is needed. There are different varients, so it's best to check that.
I think the mobile CPUs all run at 266mhz FSB though, although many you can overclock to run at what you want, with the unlocked multipliers.
With my XP1800-M I changed the FSB to 333mhz, as it wouldn't run at 400mhz. Just remember to set as half in the BIOS. Remember to set the memory running at the same speed as the CPU. -
Fsb rating for chipset @ 266
Hello guys,
I have an MSI platinum power up edition (core 2 duo E6600 @ 2.4), and just installed the dual core centre. The issue is that is says my fsb is 266, (default for Core 2 duo apparently) however my memory clock is set to 667 in the BIOS. (the fsb of the chipset is 266 confirming the dual core centre).
Am i right in saying that the chipset is running at 533 - slower than the memory ? Is there any way i can change the settings to match the ram (safely) ? As surely i can run the chipset at 667 to match the ram - as the spec says both chipset and ram can run at 667. Would i need to half 667 and enter that into the bios as the fsb for the chipset ?
My main reason for this sudden interest is that the dual core centre has a "game" setting increasing the CPU and fsb by a little bit - this little bit is very noticable on my system, it almost doubles the framerate in world of warcraft.1. FSB:
The actual FSB frequency is 1066 MHZ (266 MHz*4). If you change the "basic" FSB-frequency in BIOS or through Dual Core Center (lets say 300 MHz instead of 266 MHz), the resulting "effective" FSB-frequency will be 300MHZx4=1200MHz. The FSB-multiplier is always x4.
2. Memory Frequency
Memory Frequency is always set in relation to the "basic" FSB-frequency. You can change FSB/Memory ratio in BIOS (cell menu) by specifiying a divider.
-->basic FSB*2*divider= DDR2 frequency
examples:
-basic FSB=266MHz:
266*2*1.5=800MHz
266*2*1.25=667 MHz
-basic FSB=300 MHz
300*2*1.33=800 MHz
300*2*1.25=750 MHz
I hope you get the idea...
Syncing FSB- with memory frequency is not necessary. To do that, you will need memory modules that support 1066MHz DDR2 frequency. The thing is, that modules like that are not officially supported. -
FSB only 100 on Satellite 2410-304S
Why ist the FSB for memory only 100MHz instaed of 133MHz? The chipset i845 can handle 133. Is there any possibility to change it?
Hi
I dont know where you found the information about 100 MHz and 133 MHz of memory FSB but this value has nothing to do with the chipset. The processor FSB supports 400 MHz.
What you can do is to use another supported memory modules.
I have found a info that these memory modules are compatible:
PC2100 128MB (PA3126U-1M12)
PC2100 256MB (PA3127U-1M25)
PC2100 512MB (PA3164U-1M51) -
Hi there, just wondered if one stick of Twinmos 3200 512mb will work on this board? also will i have to ajust the FSB for my Xp 2400+? which is currently set at 133, thanks
Msi doesnt list that memory on there web site, but, that does not mean it will not work,i have corsair cms 3200 platn,it was not listed,i was able to use it at 400 fsb by setting the memory voltage up a little higher, but now i just keep it at 333,i seem to get the best results there or at least untill i can get a 2800 with a 333 fsb...but frankly all benchmarks ive done and seen says to run your memory the same front bus as your memory so it runs synchronosly with the proc insted of asynchronosl.by the way,the kt4 ultra bioswill alow you to set your memory bus at 400,333,266 and your proc at 166or 133.you can set them individualy.so that the memory can run at 400 fsb and the proc can run at 133 or 166 according to which proc you have see ya!! )

FSB/CPU Speed Problem Easy Fix Probly
I was fidlin' around in my bios and noticed that Im running at 1.34Ghz... which is strange for me, considering im running an AthlonXP 2200+, i played with the FSB Setting a bit, put it to 200, yet im still running at 1.34Ghz... This should be 1.8Ghz if im correct...
What exactly are the settings i need to change to get myself up to 1.8Ghz? I feel like a moron asking this since i should know it... heh
Thanks for the help though to those who give it.
System: (Just for reference)
Board: k7n2g-ILSR
CPU: AthlonXP 2200+
RAM: 1xCrucial 256MB PC2700Sounds like you're running in safe mode Jumper J10 should be on pins 1&2. Jumper J11 should be shorted. I beleive the FSB for a 2200+ is 133.

KM266 w/Athlon 2200+ XP, run ok at 100mhz FSB?
Ok, I have a customer on an extreme budget. Just purchased the following equipment:
MSI VIA KM266 KM2M Combo-L motherboard
Athlon 2200+ XP Retail CPU w/Factory Heatsink
Guy is on an extreme budget (actually, I'm over budget with the above!). So I'm using quite a few of his old parts. The reason for picking this board, the SDRAM sockets. He already had SDRAM.
So current setup:
Mobo + CPU above
2x128MB SDRAM PC100 sticks
Maxtor 20GB IDE33 w/256kb cache (slow!)
Pioneer 10x/40x DVD/CD-Rom
Windows XP /SP1a
Btw, I swapped in a ATX 300W powersupply with the additional 4pin connector. His old 180W wouldn't cut it. Gave him this PS, got plenty of them. Poor fellow.
The Question
With the FSB running at 133mhz, the system is unstable (memory tests fail). I've swapped in like a dozen PC100 SDRAM sticks, while it will work at about 90% uptime, there's times it hickups. I believe it's because the memory is only rated at PC100, not PC133.
Lowering the FSB speed down to 100mhz makes it stable. Very stable. All 256MB checks out by several programs, and WinXP doesn't choke on installation. It's been up and running, burning in for three days running at 500MB ram used (using all ram, + HD) and 100% CPU to "burn in". Custom program I wrote to do the job.
But lowering it down to 100mhz FSB lowers the CPU to a "measured" 1.35Ghz (still faster then his previous P233MMX lol). I've talked to the custom and he's ok by running like this.
But I want to know if I will damage anything, CPU/socket/VRM/etc, if I leave it at a 100mhz FSB for a while? Until he can afford to get a 256MB DDR stick, this is what he'll be stuck with.
Side Question
When I was running at 133mhz FSB, I noticed WinXP reported it was running at 1.8Ghz. I don't know much about AMD processors, but since it is an 2200+ cpu, isn't that 2.2Ghz? I didn't do any testing though to verify it was that low. Just noticed what WinXP reported.
Any thoughts about the lower FSB though? Heh, kind of funny eh? Everyone buys these Athlon's and Duron's to overclock the out of them, liquid cool them, etc. To get the max performance. And here I am, trying to LOWER the speed. Seems to be very stable, just need to know from the "Experts at be" if this will be ok to leave for a while (6 months or so).
Thanks in advance!

Well I tried this. Latest bios (as the Bios Updater software told me anyhow).
Under the Advanced Chipset Features, there's an option for DRAM timing, yes. Choices are only:
-100mhz
-RTS (which is whatever the motherboard is set to)
If I boot up with the jumper on 133mhz FSB, my options change to only:
-133mhz
-RTS
And the system is unstable if I select 133mhz instead of RTS (like nothing changed).
The information displayed above where these settings are says, "SDRAM CLOCK SPEED: 133Mhz" and it doesn't allow me to change it. No matter selecting MANUAL on any of the features below it or not. Setting the jumper to 100mhz shows SDRAM CLOCK SPEED: 100mhz. So at least I know the jumper is working. lol
Nope, no option anywhere for 'hclk-33'. Anyhow, already delivered to custom now. Hope he enjoys it. Told him he needs to save up for some ram sometime soon. -
Max Fsb on Msi Neo2 865pe FS2ir
I want to know what is the max fsb for MSI 865pe Neo2 P Series board. ?
Msi 865pe Neo2 FS2ir , this is what i have.
and if i buy TCCD will it work with this board. It's hard to define how much FSB gain you can achieved as it is all dependent on your hardwares and their capabilities to overclock especially PSU outputs.
Btw, what does your TCCD points to? -
Some issues I'm having trying to overclock my Neo2
Issue 1
I have 2x Corsair 3200 XMS.. 1 stick is rated CL-2, the other is rated at CL-2.5. When I have just the CL-2 stick installed, it detects my fsb @ 200 upon bootup like it should. If I put in my CL 2.5 stick to enable dual channel or just by itself, it will set my fsb @ 166. I've tried manually changing the Max clock speed to 200 from auto, but it will still detect @ 166.
So basically I'm stuck with the divider at 166 no matter what I do... I would like to have it set at 200 so I can try to run 1:1. I know this combination of memory will do a lot more then 200mhz since I've used it in an nforce 2 board @ 215 fsb for 8 months.
Issue 2
If I increase my HTT past 240 (which puts my ram @ 200 because of the divider) my computer will not boot at all. 240 will start windows and run perfectly fine with no errors.. but anything past that point just causes my system to not get a picture and me having to reset my cmos. I've messed around with the HT speed, changing it down to 3x which doesn't help. I tried adjusting the agp clock to 67mhz (since I heard the lock won't work unless u do that) and I also tried adjusting the ram timings which didn't help either.
I'm running IDE Harddrives.. so I don't think I should have problems people are having with their serial drives. I'm just lost in why I can't get over 240.I really highly doubt it has anything to do with my memory... I can run 1 stick at a time or dual channel and it will bomb right after I pass 240 HTT.
I tried voltage, timings.. everything as far as ram is concerned, and it doesn't change anything.
I've seen a few people now that have the same problem, so I guess I'll have to wait for a new bios and hope it fixes it. -
Update on BIOS & MEMORY problems? also DOT, PAT, settings...
Okie dokie, I'm new here, and I've been pouring through threads for the past 2-3 hours and doing searches, so please excuse these questions if they seem to have already been answered, but I would like to just ask a few (hopefully susinct) questions to get the quickest and most direct answers possible...
I just bought the 865pe-LS board, p-4 2.6ghz 800FSB HT CPU, and value-select Corsair PC3200 512MB dual-channel kit, and it has become apparent that there is or has been a HUGE problem with this board accepting corsiar memory. ARGH or should is say DOH for not checking into all of this BEFOREHAND!
But it seems that several bios versions have come out since the majority of those threads I have been reading about back in august. Sooo, can anyone tell me if the current version, 1.9 bios, has fixed these incompatibilities with the corsairs memory sticks? I realize that most people are going the LL version routes for the memory, and I have opted for the value-select versions...but it still seems to be a possible dilemma. I am wondering if it is worth it to try to pay the 15% restock fee or sell it on ebay (hopefully for about what I paid) and go get the same stuff in kingston memory instead, since these seem to be much more compatible? Or has this problem been fixed with newer bios versions?
Another important factor to consider, I think, is that I may not be THAT interested in overclocking much of anything, but perhaps just wishing to use the fast or turbo modes, probably not ultra-turbo since i would need the XMS or hyper-X versions to even try this. If the bios is now accepting corsair, I am trying to figure out, short of "experimenting" since i have not gotten all of my components in yet, if its even possible or recommended to overclock or use the fast/turbo mode with the cas-3 value select dual-channel setup I will be using...any clues?
Lastly, which may have been already answered by now, is it best to use the PAT or DOT settings or opt for manual setting for any sort of higher-performance setup, considering my specs for my soon-to-be new computer? Or does it really make THAT much difference? Im not into squeezing out every nano-second of speed, but if a little tweaking would make a BIG difference and wouldnt require me spending MANY hours or days to do so, then I'm all for it. I'm practically a noob at this stuff, only really educating myself in any depth about all this stuff tonight (going off of what outhers have recommended in making these purchases)...thanks for the understanding and the help in advance!
*looking for any help*
is how i feel, haha...*sigh*There doesn't seem to be any particular Ram type that is working for everybody. Also, many people that are experiencing problems are trying to overclock(some to extremes). You don't seem very interested in that aspect. For the Ram, you really just have to put it in and see what happens.
If you haven't already, read the FAQ HERE for the Neo/Neo2 boards. Particularly #5 which will help you setup the SATA/IDE devices in the Bios. Use Native mode for Windows XP.
Things I would set in the Bios right out of the box:
(Some of these might already be set by default)
Boot device select- Order that you want to boot from particular devices. Might have to set "On-chip IDE Config" items first and re-boot to see all your devices here.
HT-On
MPS revision-1.4
APIC ACPI....- Enabled
Dram Timing- By SPD
Integrated Peripherals is fairly intuitive except the "On-chip IDE config" see FAQ page.
DOT- disabled for now
MAT- slow to start
DRAM freq- 400
CPU Bus- 201(seems strange but do it; try a search here for "201" and you'll know why)
DDR voltage- 2.7v (like reilly said)
If this works OK(try something that stresses it) you can try raising the MAT to fast. After you're happy that this is stable, you can try turbo if you want but I'm not sure with the value Ram. Once you settle on this, try playing with the DOT features. I think General is the equivalent of a 10% increase on the system. Once you've found a setting you like here, you should leave it for a while and just enjoy your new compputer!
If you get bored, you can always go in and disable the DOT and manually raise FSB for more fun.
Things you should read up on before you do any overclocking:
Clearing CMOS
5:4 FSB/MEM ratio
Have fun! -
I need help with my setup Please !!! 2800+ athlon xp
hi all .......... great forum here.....!!!
I am having probs with my new setup and I am at a wits end of what to do so i'll explain my problem.
I have just bought a AMD athlon 2800+ cpu for my mobo (KT3 ultra 6830e v.1.0)
and I am unable to run the chip at correct speed??
The bios wont boot the computer if I try to set the fsb for cpu at 166 ?? Am I correct in thinking that a 2800+ Athlon needs to be run at 166fsb to get the 333fsb setting?
I am currently running it at 133fsb and it is registering it as a AMD 2200+ chip ???
I am quite new to playing about with my bios but at the moment it is set at defaults on everything because i had to reset the cmos jumper about 8 times last night after trying different settings, in the end i gave up and thought i'd ask u guys for help???? Please !!!
I spoke to the shop i bought the chip from and we got talking about that when i set the fsb for chip to 166 it changed the ram settings to host clock + 66 (host clock was set at 100mhz) thus trying to make my 2100 ram(266) run at 2700(333) specs ?
Is this the problem why my computer wont boot when it is set to 166 fsb cuz it is asking the ram to be 333ddr when it isn't???
Is my problem going to be solved if i purchase some 2700 ram ?? if so i'll be quite happy, or is my board just not capable of running this 2800+ cpu on it???
i read up b4 i bought the cpu and i thought i was able to run this chip maybe i read wrong? any help would be greatly appreciated , oh i also flashed my bios to the most recent msi update which was 5.7 i think (AMI bios) and the flash was succesfull (LOL) very worrying!!!!
anyway hope i have explained my problem well enough as i myself am very confused!!!!
Thanks in advance
Davei have just had a look around the net and it looks like there are two versions of the 2600+ available one with 133/266fsb support and the other with 333fsb ???
Do u know that if i take my 2800+ back to the shop and change it for a 2600+ cpu if i should just get a normal one(133/266fsb) or get the 333fsb version???
as that link u posted for the mobo supported cpus only lists the 2600+ as being a 133/266fsb chip ???
I will get some 333ddr ram as well just incase i need this to allow the 2600+ to run correctly
Also (sorry to be a pain) but can you explain to me how to change the multipliers correctly to get full power from the chip ?? as i read that a 2600+ comes out at 1.91ghz standard , but i was reading a review where the user was told by AMD that it will run higher by changing fsb or multipliers (or both?) ???
Do u have to set the fsb to 133 and then change the multiplier to a value to up the speed or just keep changing the fsb alone and leave the multipliers alone ????
Hope you can help me......
Thanks once again for your replys..
Dave
