Fsb increase = xp doesnt boot

i was just wondering (as i have no reason to oc its just a query) why windows xp doesnt boot when i up the fsb to say 140...
i have a kt4, amd2000+ & 1gb of pc2100 twinmos memory

well that would be good if i was willing to search for such a cpu (those are actually rare, i can't find it in stores catalogs), and it would cost me around 70 euros if i did. i don't hink i could sell my palomino xp2000+ for that money, so wouldn't it be best for me to perform the unlocking of the palomino?
i have read that some people experienced no improvement in performance. i also don't know what can go wrong if the unlocking goes bad. will it fry my cpu? will it need periodic re-unlocking (conductive paint could be damaged)?
i would only try to do this if i knew i would have a clear advantage, and a clear conscience of what i am doing and what can go wrong....
the temptation is big, but the fear overrides it.

  • Nokia booklet doesnt boot and no bios

    hi
Ive bought a new booklet and installed all the updates. While surfing on the internet i suddenly wasnt able to use the keyboard or the touchpad. I wanted to restart but the power button didnt react too. So i took the battery out of the booklet.
But now it doesnt boot and theres a black screen. I cann hear the fan but after a few minutes the booklet turns off aggain. What can i do???

There is no fan, but what you hear might be the hard disk. BTW, does the Booklet/BIOS really not offer an option to boot from SD cards (which has been a common feature for ages on many notebooks featuring such readers), or do they just need to be formatted in some particular/peculiar way? I did see an "Operating System not found" error message when waking up from hibernation while an SD card was plugged in, so under some circumstances it DOES seem to try (and give preference over the hard disk).

  • MacBook doesnt boot when wi-fi router is on.

    Greetings.
Thats pretty weird but it is how it is. First time my mac refused to boot i was really confused: tried everything and it didnt help: i saw a loader on the screen but it didnt boot further. Then i decided to re-install Mac Os. Did it, but next time i turned my Mac off i wasnt able to boot it again.
A miracle solved the problem: occasionally i unplugged power supply from my wi-fi router (D-Link DI-524 that is. Latest firmware update installed. original Release:B), and voila my MacBook did a happy beep-beep and started to load a system. So as it is now my MacBook Doesnt boot when my router is on and it does boot if i turn router off.
My MacOsX 10.4.1 is freshly installed with all latest updates that i downloaded via "update software" thing. Did no tuning to it, almost no 3rd party software installed so far, apart from MS Office 2004. My question is pretty simple: How can i make my MacBook boot without unplugging power from my router (since its pretty weird to do it every time i turn my Mac on).
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you for your help.

Could it just be stuck trying to join a Network, or mounting a Share of some kind?
Might try dragging these to the Desktop, reboot, and see if it works...

  • IBook doesnt boot anymore

    Servus alltogether,
I really have a BIG problem with my iBook here. I've installed the Screen Spanning Doctor in order to activate a second screen, and my iBook doesnt boot anymore. It gets to the point with the grey apple and the wheel, and then (using apple+v) there seems to be a problem by loading a file called dyld
    dyld:library not loaded: usr/lib/libz.1.dylb
    etc/rx line 262 55 trace / BPT trap couldnt find root user usr/sbin /update
I tried to reset nvram in open firmware without any sucess. I can log on in single user mode, but i dont know what i can do now from there.
It would be also very helpfun if soneone could tell me how to mount a external hard drive (I have a Lacie hard drive, perhaps I can rescue my data. Its still there, I checked it in single user mode.) or a usb-stick.
Perhaps it is also helpful when I tell you this: It is a G4 ibook, using the newest patch of mac os x tiger, and my graphic chip is a ati readon 9200 (which should work with the screen spanning doctor but apparently didnt).
I am really in trouble here, because I need this iBook for university. So please help me if you can.

Try starting up from a CD (Apple-C) or in safe mode: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107393
Either of these methods should get your booted. Then, back up your data! Next, try Disk Utility to fix your disk. You may have to reinstall the OS. Luckily, you have that backup now.

  • 1394 Inoperative, FSB Increase (BIOS)

After raising the FSB in BIOS from the default 200MHz to 210MHz, the 1394 Firewire hardware fails to function properly. When I look in the Device Manager, there is a yellow exclamation symbol next to it. When I click on it, it says "This device failed to load" or somthing to that extent. When I bring the FSB speed back to it's default speed settings, it does not fix the problem, I have to uninstall the device then scan for hardware changes for it to work again. Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

c&q used to work with it ,i tried a while back but the game i was playing would not kick it back to high gear all i could do was adjust the fsb in core center and it went from 800 to 830 as 30 pt fsb increase.(clawhammer core).
but i have since disabled it and left it on fast mode.

  • Lenovo G400 doesnt boot

    Hi Guys
    my lenovo doesnt boot
    the installation was messed up
windows was setup in drive d
    doesnt really matter
is there something i can download to format the laptop
    it keeps on restarting
doesnt even reach the login page
    thanks

If the battery-LED is blinking fast (approx. 2 times per second) remove the battery, disconnect from power supply and press the power-button for 30 seconds. Then attach the power-supply  leave the battery off and try to poweron the notebook. Dead batteries also can lead to the symptoms you described.
    More hints:
The Z60 is based on the ThinkPad T43. It also can get "Flexing".
Other causes may be contact with liquids in the past, damaged keyboard, crashed BIOS-update, a short in the USB-ports.
To reset the CMOS you also can remove the BIOS-battery but take care: If BIOS-passwords had been set, you only can run the computer after entering the supervisor-password.

  • Powerbook doesnt boot ?

Hi, I've tried to power my powerbook g4 this morning and it doesnt boot up?
When pressing the power button you can hear it attempt to power up but then it just make a funny beep.
What can i do? the screen doesnt come on as well

Your best best is to stick with Crucial, Kingston, or Samsung. Crucial is sold by direct and thru retailers. The Crucial UK site is at http://www.crucial.com/uk/ . Kingston's site is at http://www.kingston.com/ukroot/ (note, avoid their valueram line of memory as it usually doesn't work in our Powerbooks). Samsung is sold thru retailers. Online in the US you can get it from http://www.macsales.com - sorry, can't give you a UK retailer. You can pick up the stock number of the memory needed from the vendors sites then look locally too

Hi , thank you for this post...
the serial number of the board is: 601-7792-010B1303109964
but how is it possible ? on the box it says it supports AMD A10 A8 A6 A4 processors.
yes it needs updating like Flobelix said as its a unsupported CPU by the BIOS the board has!
but how is it possible ? on the box it says it supports AMD A10 A8 A6 A4 processors. - answer is yes it does support the A4-A10 processors but only the Trinity ones (Eg: A6-5400k Trinity APU out the box) not your new Richland one as its not supported without updating the board BIOS to recognize the APU itself!

  • Laptop doesnt boot after installing a new hard drive

HP G60-630us laptop ...replaced hard drive ...installed 3 startup discs.. after you remove the last disc, when you hit continue it is supposed to boot up ...it reads no bootable device ......if you put the first disc in to boot up, you end up back where you started.....i changed the boot order & put hard drive first ...still doesnt boot up

    Hi,
The image you download should just appear as 1 file.  You should then use the 'Burn a disc image' option in Power2Go to write this correctly to a disc.

  • LED blinks upon switching on, system doesnt boot up!!!

    I have HP Pavilion dv4 1225dx laptop
While switching on LEDs located near caps lock and num lock are blinking, without any beep sound. At the same time, the exhause fan runs. But the system doesnt boot up. The LED blinks continously, with out stopping. Time to time the system boots up and i was able to work normally, still with blinking LED signals.
To note, i dont see anything in the screen and i tried with alternative screen, but the situation remains...
I checked in the Hp support, which conveys the problem in the CPU. but I was able to login my system even after this problem.
So im not sure my CPU is having a problem.
Before this issue, there used to be a message while switchign on about replacing the internal battery. This i havent done yet. Im suspecting this issue.
Also, recently i cleaned the exhaust windows using an air gun.
Presently, My system is working on windows 8 OS.
I hope to have answers to my problem
    Thanks in advance

    Thanks for the reply!
But how to overheat the system.
I tried leaving it on for at least 7-8 hrs, then sometimes it starts and not sure about all the time.
Moreover how to switch off the fan to overheat the system.
Anyway both suggestions will take time to switch on, is there any instant solution???
    thanks in advance

  • G5 doesnt boot- common tricks seem not to work

    hi,
today I found a suspicious folder on my HD with a 3letter name I had never seen before, after seraching through it and finding several folders (share, lib, bin etc) I found an item called instanthijackserver. i moved the whole folder into the trashcan, moved a sinlge file called .raw on my desktop and then decided, to move the whole folder back on to the desktop. then my browsers startet to act up (google told me about a spelling check error when I tried to enter search words and firefox wouldn't even start), so I shut the computer down. since,
my ppc doesnt get past the grey apple when booting, then the vents go off crazy.
    I have tried:
-start up from Install Disk with holding C while turning on
-holding ALT while starting, selected HD and Install Disk (after doing that i get prohibitory sign)
    -safe mode
-single mode: can't type anything (fsck)
-open firmware mode: can type, did the nvram and pram reset, nothing changed
-unplugged it, took out the battery and started without, then again with
    -did the cuda reset

    anyone witha a good idea??

You could do that, but suggest you insure no Disk Corruuption first, this can be Done in T mode also without booting from the Install Disc...
    Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Tiger Mac OS X Install disc , then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, *you must select your language first.)*
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk
If all the above fails, then it appears to be time for a relatively painless Archive & Install, which gives you a new/old OS, but can preserve all your files, pics, music, settings, etc., as long as you have plenty of free disk space and no Disk corruption, and is relatively quick & painless...

Just be sure to select Preserve Users & Settings.

  • X220 doesnt boot after spill

    Hello,
i spilled water on my keyboard. at first my x220 continued working without any issues but i took the opportunity to take off all the keys and whipe it clean. my computer was in standby at this time. after reinstalling all the keys i intended to start my system and it refuses to boot.
while reinstalling the keys i noticed that the display "flashed up"  once what apperead to me as if the computer was switching from standby to hibernating mode. it did this as i was applying pressure to put the left shift key, being just above the vga slot.
when i know press the power button it starts blinking a few times but the screen stays black, no further reaction. if i take out and replace the battery and press the power button, the screen flashes up shortley as it did while replacing the keys of the keyboard and it does so showing a few colored vertical stripes.
    what can be the problem here? will it be due to possibly entered water (are they not supposed to be spill resistant) or might i have squeezed the graphics adapter or other sort of hardware when reinstalling the keys? is there anything i can do now? hooking the x220 up to an external monitor doesnt help either. the external screen stays black and the system still does not boot;
thanks for any help. unfortunately i will not be close to any lenovo dealership for support for the next few weeks as there arent any in northern chile.
