FSCT - Having Error "There were errors during running WordFileClose.dll scenario" when running the FSCT in controller & non-windows file server

I encounter 2 errors in the controller when running FSCT.
- "There were errors during running WordFileClose.dll scenario"
- "There were errors during running WordFileClose.dll scenario"
Does anyone has any ideas for this errors?
I am using the following server to run the FSCT:
- AD Server: Windows 2008 R2 SP1 x64
- FSCT Controller: Windows 2008 R2 SP1 x64
- Client: Windows 7 x64
- File Server: Non-Windows Server (EMC Isilon)
And the commands are as follows:
> fsct prepare dc /users 10 /clients testing /password password
> fsct prepare controller
> fsct prepare client /server ofscluster /password password /users 10 /domain abc.local /server_ip 192.168.2.16
> fsct prepare server /clients testing /password password /users 10 /domain abc.local /volumes \\ofscluster\fsroot1 /workload HomeFolders /create_only_fileset
> fsct run client /controller fsctcon /server ofscluster /password password /domain abc.local
fsct run controller /server ofscluster /password password /volumes \\ofscluster\fsroot1 /clients testing /min_users 2 /max_users 10 /step 2 /duration 360 /workload HomeFolders

Dear all,
The errors were:
<Error>1264 DeviceIoControl 1{WINERR}</Error>
<Error>Error executing scenario: WordFileOpen.dll</Error>
<Error>943 DeviceIoControl 50{WINERR}</Error>
<Error>Error executing scenario: WordFileClose.dll</Error>
Do you have any idea about what the errors mean?
Thanks,

  • 'There were errors installing the software. Please try installing again.'

    Can anyone provide a solution for a sudden problem I've encountered. It began when trying to install Backup 3.1 and has now been repeated with OS X 10.4.5.
    When trying through Software Update I'm told The update [packagename] can't be installed. Sorry, an unexpected error occurred. The Installer package has been moved to the Trash. To try again, open the package from the Finder.
    When I try opening the Installer packages from the Finder the Installer reaches the stage of 'preparing target volume' and then displays this error: There were errors installing the software. Please try installing again.
    Installer's Error Log says: Install failed: The following install step failed: run preflight script for [packagename].
    Console.log contains this:2006-02-15 21:07:27.431 Software Update[331] session:product:061-2046 didFailWithError:NSError "Error SUSessionErrorDomain 6" Domain=SUSessionErrorDomain Code=6 UserInfo={errorCode = -2; }
    Unsuccessful steps I've taken to resolve this issue have been: (1) I trashed com.apple.installer.plist, (2) I repaired disk persmissions; (3) I repaired the disk (when I did so, Disk Utility reported that no repairs were necessary); (4) I restarted in Safe Mode; and (5) I tried installing using a different User account.
    Anyone?

    Since first posting, I learned of further updates being available in Software Update (all the iLife '06 suite, basically). Horrified, I suspected that my Installer problem would rear its ugly head again with these, and sure enough that's precisely what happened. As a test, I unchecked all but one of the new items in Software Update and tried installing that. The exact same problem reoccurred.
    Fortunately I also have an iBook G4 on which I had earlier run a successful upgrade to OS X 10.4.5. I ran Software Update on that machine, installed everything successfully, and then used Target Disk mode between iBook and iMac to first install 10.4.5 on the iMac and then to copy over the new versions of Backup, iDVD, iMovie, iPhoto, iTunes and iWeb. So my iMac is now up to date, but only by intervention of another machine. My original question remains: what could be causing the problem with Installer?
    Thanks Jpfresno for your response. The only part of it which I had not tried was disconnecting my external Firewire HD before running Installer.

    Originally Mum's Mini was "doing strange things", so I had to drive 150 miles to try to sort it out.
    First I downloaded AppleJack and tried it out on my own G4 Tower before heading north to visit Mum. Applejack installed OK from my USB memory stick.
    Unfortunately, it didn't occur to me to take a spare keyboard and I was unable to get her Mac Mini (with a miniature keyboard) to respond to any key presses at start-up, which foiled all attempts to use AppleJack or even single user mode!
    However, I was able to use DiskWarrior and it found several corrupted files on the Hard Drive, which it claimed (after two attempts) were repaired. I then "repaired permissions" and ejected the DiskWarrior disc. Then I had the bright idea of going to "Software Update" in the Apple Menu. This downloaded the latest OS10.4.11 and started to install it. After 20 minutes it reported that there was a "problem with installation" and I should reboot and try again, which I did, with the same result. So then I had the amazingly bright idea of erasing the drive and installing 10.4 from the original DVD. This got several minutes into the procedure before reporting a problem. "There were problems installing the software".
    I gave up at that point, left Mum my iBook to use and brought the Mac Mini home.
    I was able to boot it up from an external Firewire HD, which contained a clone of the boot drive from my own G4 Mac Mini. It seemed to work OK so I tried the Tiger installation DVD again. It failed as before but I was able to save the Crash Log onto the Firewire Drive and you can view it here:
    http://www.amstard.co.uk/temp/OSInstallCrashLog.txt
    (I hope this means something to somebody! The way I interpret it is that it installed a file then discovered that file was corrupted?)
    I used Prosoft "Drive Genius" to erase the internal Hard Drive again and it reported that all was well. But I still couldn't install the OS.
    After that, I couldn't even get the Mac Mini to boot from the external Firewire drive. It just produces a black oblong on a gray screen with a stalled "cog wheel". Here's a photo that I took:
    http://www.amstard.co.uk/temp/screenphoto.jpg
    There is nothing connected except the standard USB keyboard and mouse at this point and the external Firewire drive.
    It does boot up with the generic Tiger installation DVD. I can run Disk Utility, which reports no errors on the Hard Drive. But it fails when I try to install the OS 10.4 with an error message "There were problems installing the software" (generic OS10.4 installer) or "There were errors installing the software" (original Mac Mini OS10.4 installer).
    I have fitted a new 120GB drive and replaced the RAM. The OS still fails to install on the newly formatted drive. The Apple site suggests a firmware update for this error message but doesn't list one for the Mini.
    I have tried installing OS10.4 from the original Mac Mini installations discs and from a generic 10.4 installer. Both give the same "There were errors installing the software" message.
    I have "zapped the PRAM" without making any difference to this symptom.
    I have tried doing the simplest installation without any additional fonts, language translators or bundled software.
    Any suggestions - apart from "scrap it!"?

    Since this is an original G4 mini, there is no reason at all that any full retail 10.4 installer, or the original MacOS installer that came with the mini would not work. Later minis, released after Tiger's release date were in some instances unable to boot from the early versions of the Tiger retail installer because 10.4.0 or 10.4.1 pre-dated the versions those minis came supplied with, but clearly that isn't the case with your system.
    If you are certain that the MacOS install disk you have is the one that original one that came with the mini (which should be a late version of MacOS 10.3.x), then the only obvious thing to check is that you have correctly partitioned the drive (it should be partitioned in the Apple Partition Map scheme, and then formatted as MacOS Extended (Journalled). If those parameters are met and you continue to get the error from a valid installer for that system, then the potential causes narrow to such things as defective install disks (unlikely since you have tried more than one), defective optical drive unlikely because you can boot from the install disk using the drive), or defective logic board/disk controller - which is a distinct possibility since it's possible that was responsible for the first drive failure (or the indications of failure).
    Boot the system using the original MacOS installer and using Disk Utility, set the new internal drive up again with the APM partitioning and MacOS Extended (Journalled) formatting, then immediately run the 'Repair Disk' tool on it to make sure the drive is being read and written correctly. Then performa PMU reset (instructions below) to ensure that the failure to boot from the external FW drive is not a simple matter of dropped FW port. On rebooting with your FW drive connected, hold the Option key down to see if the system then recognizes your external drive. If it does, select it and attempt to boot from it.
    With luck that will give you a working system, booted from your external, at which point I would then see if it's possible to clone your external to the new internal drive, rather than attempt a reinstall from the MacOS installer.
    On the face of it there should be no reason that would not work since by booting from the MacOS installer you basically show that the system is sound and the optical drive is working. By partitioning and formatting the internal drive and getting a clean bill of health from the repair disk tool, you show the drive and disk controller are OK. That doesn't leave much else to be at fault!

  • There were errors installing the software  Os x disk 2

    Hey guys.
    I run an older version of os x (10.4.8) on a Macbook as I have an old version of pro tools that I won't run on anything newer. I havn't gotten round to updating pro tools.
    Yesterday, I tried to install the update for 10.4.11 since I'm not too bothered about pro tools anymore.
    It took around 2 hours, then at the end seemed to stop without any confirmation of it's success.
    After this, everything froze and I was forced to manually restart the macbook using the power button.
    When restarting, I got a kernel panic error which asked me to repeatedly start the system.
    Fed up with this, I decided to revert back to 10.4.8 by booting from the dvd, erasing the macbook harddrive and installing from scratch.
    Disk one went fine, but disk 2 hangs up when installing garage band instruments, then I get the message THERE WERE ERRORS INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE. PLEASE TRY AGAIN.
    I've tried this three times with no joy.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi Ibin5, and a warm welcome to the forums!
    Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
    *Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
    Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
    It took around 2 hours, then at the end seemed to stop without any confirmation of it's success.
    Hmmm, that's too long, might see this...
    http://www.apple.com/support/macbook/hd/repairextension/
    Also, That second Disk thing happens frequently, the best way around it is to do a Custom install, and eliminate enough Printer Drivers, Languages, Fonts, and Applications you don't need... then it may skip #2 altogether.

  • MaxL error 1241114 - There were errors, look in...

    I am running the following MaxL in a batch script on one of our Essbase cubes, which passes the MaxL to ESSMSH.
    MaxL:
    login admin identified by ******* on *******;
    iferror "errorhandler";
    spool stdout on to "\\*******\\*******\\Logs\\*******BefLoad.log";
    iferror "errorhandler";
    spool stderr on to "\\*******\\*******\\Logs\\*******BefLoad.err";
    iferror "errorhandler";
    set timestamp on;
    execute calculation "'FIX(\"*******\",@ICHILDREN(\"*******\")) CLEARDATA \"*******\"; ENDFIX'" on *******.*******;
    iferror "errorhandler";
    import database *******.******* dimensions from data_file "\\\\*******\\FDMDATA\\*******\\Outbox\\*******.Dat" using server rules_file "L_Data" preserve input data on error append to "\\\\*******\\*******\\Logs\\*******BefLoad.err";
    iferror "errorhandler";
    logout;
    exit 0;
    define label "errorhandler";
    exit 10;
    However, every time the MaxL executes, I have the following single line generated in the "\\*******\*******\Logs\*******BefLoad.err" file:
    WARNING - 1241114 - There were errors, look in \\*******\*******\Logs\*******BefLoad.err.
    This error is actually pointing to itself (the .err file), however this is the only line with no further information, and is generated every time the batch script is run, even though the build appears to have worked fine. I have double-checked and there are no errors (or even warnings) in the Essbase application log to suggest anything has gone wrong!
    Does anyone please have a suggestion as to why it is being generated? Can we just ignore this error? I have read the following, which points out that data load errors will not be trapped by the MaxL "iferror" statement. However, it would be useful to know why this error is occurring and specifically what is going wrong.
    MaxL Error Codes

    Hi James -
    Your dataload errors are getting spooled to the same file as Essbase is trying to spool the message saying that there were dataload errors. I wouldn't count on that working the way you expect it to, and it's not an approach I have ever used - I'd think keeping the stderr spool separate (i.e. separate files) from the dataload errors makes sense.
    My bet is that if you point the two error streams to different files you'll see that there are in fact load errors, they're just getting messed up by the fact that stderr and dataload errors are pointing at the same file.
    BTW, I appreciate that you're anonymizing for client confidentiality (amazing how many folks post info that obviously identifies their company and give out server / user names...), but any chance you could use e.g. 'appname', 'dbname' etc rather than *******? Asterisks make my eyes hurt, but more importantly they make the different tokens impossible to distinguish. Cheers!

  • 'Install App for SharePoint' There were errors when validating the App Package

    Hello,
    When testing with an app, I tried to add an
    app event receiver before learning that remote event receiver are not allowed with
    Sharepoint-hosted app. So I reseted the Handle app installed and
    Web Project properties of my project and tried to redeploy and this error occurred :
    'Install App for SharePoint' There were errors when validating the App Package
    Something other than the project's properties have been modified but I don't know what.

    I think the best way to figure real reason out is to look at ULS logs.
    This is example, what I had:
    Unexpected        App Packaging: CreatePackage: Unexpected exception: There were errors when validating the App package: There were errors when validating the App Package. Other warnings / errors associated with this
    exception:  The current version of SharePoint is less than the SharePointMinVersion specified in the app manifest. CurrentVersion='15.0.4693.1000', SharePointMinVersion='16.0.0.0'.

  • "There were errors installing the software. Please try again"

    I have decided to sell my iMac and G4 iBook, in order to buy a Macbook Pro. I have two people interested, but only if both computers are formatted and as they were when they left the factory.
    I erased all my files from both computers, leaving just the system files. I placed the instalation disk for OS X into my iMac (The disk that came with it) and selected instal. I chose the option to delete the current settings and instal a fresh version of OS X.
    I hope that makes sense so far.
    Anyway after a while, disk 1 had finished, and I was told to insert disk 2. I inserted disk 2, only for half way through the instal process, to be greeted by "There were errors installing the software. Please try again". I have now tried 14 times. I have officially given up.
    I have searched these forums for an answer, but it seems as though other people have done things such as, installing other software, or hardware, and that is the cause of the problem. However I have done none of the above. I have tried searching the Mac Support pages, with no luck.
    Can anyone help?

    I suggest you do the following:
    Extended Hard Drive Preparation
    1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disk. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. Then select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.)
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Set the number of partitions from the dropdown menu (use 1 partition unless you wish to make more.) Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled, if supported.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the volume(s) mount on the Desktop.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled, if supported.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process will take 30 minutes to an hour or more depending upon the drive size.
    Now try installing OS X. If you still have a problem then it's possible the hard drive is bad or the installer discs are damaged (or possibly just dirty and need a gentle cleaning) or there's a problem with the optical drive.

  • How display a "There were errors - see below" message

    I want to use h:message to show each error message adjacent to its respective control (rather than h:messages at the top of the form). But I also want a "There were errors - see below" style message at the top of the form (only if there are any messages, of course). What's a nice way to achive this in JSF?

    You can use the following line:
    <h:outputText value="There were errors - see below" rendered="#{! empty facesContext.maximumSeverity}" />

    I tried installing an update to QuickTime. An error occurred and it wouldn't install. I tried removing the QuickTime program, but a window appeared telling me that a fatal error  ccurred during installation and I could not remove the program.  Now what?

    I tried removing the QuickTime program, but a window appeared telling me that a fatal error  ccurred during installation and I could not remove the program.
    I think we'd better see if some other application (other than QuickTime itself) has dropped old QuickTime componentry in the system files on the PC. (If there's a version mismatch between the old componentry and the "QuickTime proper" componentry, that can create those symptoms.)
    So we'll go looking for the older QuickTime componentry in the most common locations for it to be stashed.
    First we'll need to change some view options on the PC.
    1. Open My Computer from the desktop or Start menu.
    2. In the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
    3. Click the View tab.
    4. In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders" make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected, and the "Hide extensions for known file types" option is unchecked.
    5. Click OK.
    Now in My Computer, open your C drive.
    Open the "Windows" folder.
    Open the "system32" folder.
    What files and/or folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the file/folder name? (In a standard installation of QuickTime, you should see precisely two files ... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)

  • Error "Not all data could be changed in LC" when running DP macro

    We are getting the error, "Not all data could be changed in LC" when running DP macros and we are not sure why. It seems to only happen when we are executing it via a Process Chain but not using the DP background processing scheduling. Does anyone know why this is happening?

    Hi Stacy,
                         I hope you are seeing this in message spool.  This message comes up for various reasons. We used to see a message saying "No data saved".
    Some of the reasons could be " the new value (lets say 3 ) after the macro execution is same as after execution (3)".
    See if some of the values are fixed and could not be changed.
    I would take a selection id with just few values and execute the job for that selection id and compare the pre and after results. That should answer all your questions.
