FSMO Rule tranfer - VHD RDC

We have  hyper v host  with  role of Root DC in our setup. we also have DR ADC.
Due to storage issue I had transfer all our FSMO role to our DR ADC.  and I tried to compact the root DC VHD. after compact the vhd its not booting I thing its corrupted. we have hyper v backup created before the Role transfer.
can restore the backup  and get the RDC. if  I restored the VM and power on that. will is cause the FSMO rule.
Kindly help me to come out of this issue.

  • Can we use BI 7 featurers for olf 3.5 Datamodel?

    Hi
we are planning to use the old functionality using update rules, tranfer rules, infopackages etc for the data modelling, inside a BI 7 System, since BI 7 does not have the latest BI Content in terms of transformations, DTP Etc.
Just wanted to know, if inspite of using the old 3.5 content and data model, can we still make use of the new features in BI 7, in terms of reporting, PDF reports, new Authorization concept.
Any suggestion on the same, will be of great help.
    Thanks
    Mona

    Hi
The only reaason we are going for this is because its too time consuming to convert the routines from update rules and transfer rules to OO abap in transformations. Also, we will plan out a migration once SAP Delivers the content in BI 7.
Just wanted to know if there are any limitations in using the 3.5 content in the BI 7 server, what are the things we will miss out on in terms of functionality, for example, can we take out reports in PDF format? things like these ..
    thanks

  • How to "hover" over a smiley / emoticon to determine its name

I have recently been transitioned from my Torch to the Z30.  I'll spare my comments on the various frustrations.  However, one minor item I haven't found an answer to is how to determine the name of a smiley / emoticon in BBM before inserting it.  Previously, with the torch, I could scroll through the emoticons before selecting one.  While scrolling, the name of the current emoticon would display without it having to be selected.
I can't figure out how to determine the name of an emoticon on my Z30, whether or not I have selected it.  I can hit the backspace once I've selected/inserted it, which will give me the text representation, but that doesn't tell me, for example, what "=]Y" means.  How do I determine the name of a smiley before inserting it so that I don't inadvertently pick the wrong one?

If I understood the question, you are talking about migrating Active Directory. After checking your event viewer and keep your old "primary" DC running without problems, all you need is to:
    1. Promote the new server as additional server
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/20098.setting-up-additional-active-directory-domain-controller-with-windows-server-2012.aspx
    2. Transfer FSMO rules to the new one
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/canitpro/archive/2014/04/02/step-by-step-active-directory-migration-from-windows-server-2003-to-windows-server-2012.aspx
    3. Install DHCP on the additional server and configure the scope
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/teamdhcp/archive/2012/08/31/installing-and-configuring-dhcp-role-on-windows-server-2012.aspx
    4. Demote the old server
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj574104.aspx
    and voila...
I recommend to keep your network infrastructure connected to a UPS instead of the nature to avoid failure by lightning.

  • Migrate Domain controller 2003 to 2008

    Hi guys,
on my organisation we have two Domain controllers 2003R2.
the idea is to migrate to Windows 2008R2 because we have some servers running on Forest level 2000.
    the network information are :
    Currently servers
    DC1   Server 2003R2   IP 192.168.2.2  ( contain all the FSMO rules )
    DC2  Server 2003R2    IP 192.168.2.2  (( just replication server )
    New servers 2008R2
    DC01  Server 2008R2   IP 192.168.2.3
    DC02  Server 2008R2  IP 192.168.2.4
the idea is add DC01 to the domain that DC1 manage, and migrate the FSMO rolles to the DC1.
after i demote the DC1 i want to reuse it IP on the DC01 on the server.
my question is if i reuse it IP, all statice client will remain working ?
the reason why i need to reuse the IT is because i have about 100 static servers running. and can't change them in one day.
Does Windows 2008r2 support Foreste Level 2000 ?
to add the second replication server do i need to follow some tutorial for this ?
    Please advice !

    Hello,
for IP changes still the same answer as in
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/870c5999-070e-4825-9e8b-4ee50131bdf3/reuse-domain-ip?forum=winserverMigration
and for the functional level, yes. See
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/understanding-active-directory-functional-levels for the details which level can be used with which OS version.
But you should think about raising the levels at least to Windows server 2003 or is there a specific reason that you need Windows 2000?

  • WFM in cProjects: tranfer recurrence type in rule maintenance for BP WFD?

    Hi,
I created service arrangements for BP's in UI COMM_SERV_PROVIDER and afterwards i used report RPTWFMIF to tranfer the infotype 0007 'Planned working time' from HCM to WFD.
Everthing works okay as i can see the availability lines in UI COMM_SERV_PROVIDER; except for the fact that field 'Recurrence type' in all the lines (i got a line for every working day) is empty but it is also a required field.. In the pull-down menu for the field there are the options ' ' (blank), 'Weekly rule' and 'Monthly rule'
How can i fix this problem?
    Thanx,
    Joris

    Hi!
I look on our field 'Recurrence type' and is empty too.... It amazing but full staffing process work correct (staffing through RPA+WFD, resource master data maintained in HR, cProjects 4.0 on CRM 5.0).
Did you use in your system only english (or what else) language?

  • Exits, Tranfer & update rules

    Hello All,
ABAP codes in BW which we write in the update rules, Transfer rules and Exits. Where are they stored physically.
Background: We are making a metadata import( using transport agent) of SAP BW meta data in to external data base using XML. In this XML i have the update rules, transfer rules and mapping details but my client also needs the Abap codes with it.
    your comments apppreciated!
    Thanks indeed,

    Hi Karthik,
    Please also check table RSAABAP.

  • Issue Regarding Transfer Rules

    Hi All,
We have an issue regarding Transfer Rules. We are loading Data using 0FI_GL_4 into ZFIGL_A01. It is a periodic load of data.
Last month due to some issue in R/3 we have to replicate the Data Sources and retransport the Transfer Rules from BW Dev to BW Production. Next we loaded data into the InfoCube. Now when we execute the report for the current period I am not getting Master Data Values. All are coming as Not Assigned.
We have tracked down the issue and found that the issue may be incorrect mapping of Tranfer Rules. Is there any way in Prd where we can revert back to old version of Transfer Rules or can find the old mappings in Transfer Rules.
    Regards
    Jay

    Hi Jay,
The only way you can find your old transfer rules mapping is to goto RSA1 -
    > Infosource -> Tools -> Program and compare the versions .

  • Lookup in update rules to a R/3 table

Can I do a look up to a table that physically exists on the R/3 side in my upate rules.
    If yes, how?
    GMAT

Nope, directly if you need information from the transactional system R/3, you must first create all the DSO, datasource and transformations (tranfer rules, etc) in order to load such information first into BI and use it as reference in your routines, OR if it's few information and you have an excellent comunication infrastructure, you can create a remote function call or even a virtual remote infocube (all depends of your needs) but this is a good solution only if you are going to transfer few data and not frequently (avoid overhead in you BI platform).
Few reference data and not frequent execution then:
--> The best solution will an RFC but bear in mind that this will require a more complex mainteinance but is an excellente alternative to maintain a DSO.
A lot of data and a frequent reference to data from R/3.
--> Load such information into an DSO in BI and create all the infraestructure to populate from R/3.

  • Business Rules with BPEL or ADF

    Hi,
    My requirement is :
We have to migrate records from one DB table to another DB table.
And we have to apply Business Rules on those records while they are on there journy from source DB to target DB.
We have two choices to achieve this:-
    1) Use BPEL process and Tranform Record from Source to Destination by applying Business Rules
    Or
    2) Develop ADF application and use business rules SDK to fetch the Rules and apply them to Tranfer Data from Source DB to Traget DB.
Can anybody suggest the better approach on this.
    Thanks & Regards,
    anvv sharma

You may want to provide more information on your use case. The way I read this is that neither product would suite your use case. This looks more like an ETL solution, therefore ODI may be a better play.
Is this a one off exercise?
    How big is the payload?
what are the examples of the business rules?
    Are the business rules dynamic?
    cheers

  • Transfer Rules for two Source System in Production

    Hi All,
    I have a question.
I have source system ECDCLNT230 (ECC Devlopment) which is connected to BIDCLNT200(BID Devlopment) I have two production source system ECPCLNT410 (ECP Pre Production Client) & ECPCLNT400 (ECP Production Client) which i want to connect with BIPCLNT400. when i transport my content from ECDCLNT230 to ECPCLNT410 and ECPCLNT400 , it works fine. i created 2 source system in BIPCLNT400 and replicated data source in to BIPCLNT400 so all data source has replicated.
Now when i transport the request from BIDCLNT200 to BIPCLNT400, i need two transfer rules, two transformation one for each source system. for that what kind of settings are required.
    Thanks is advance.
    Regards,
    Komik Shah

    Hi,
If I understand correctly, in your BW Production system, you want to connect / load data from your ECC Pre Production and Production system.
In this case, to automate the transport needed for changes of transfer rules for both source system, you will need to have two tranfer rules in your BW Dev. You can either create two source system in Dev pointing to the same ECC Dev system, or one to ECC Dev and the second to ECC QA. Use different name for this two source system.
In BW Production, you then then maintain the source system conversion of both source system.
    Thanks.

  • DC connectivity to FSMO servers

What are the best practices with DC's and their connectivity to the FSMO servers?
PDC and RID connectivity seem to be a must but what about the other roles? I know some functionality may be hampered but is it acceptable? ...or do all DC's need to be able to hit all the FSMO's?

    Dear Alceryes,
    FSMO availability and placement
The Active Directory Installation Wizard performs the initial placement of roles on domain controllers. This placement is frequently correct for directories that have just a few domain controllers. In a directory that has many domain controllers, the default
placement may not be the best match for your network.
Consider the following in your selection criteria:
It's easier to keep track of FSMO roles if you host them on fewer computers.
Place roles on domain controllers that are can be accessed by the computers that need access to a given role, especially on networks that are not fully routed. For example, to obtain a current or standby RID pool, or perform pass-through authentication,
all DCs need network access to the RID and PDC role holders in their respective domains.
If a role has to be moved to a different domain controller, and the current role holder is online and available, you should transfer (not seize) the role to the new domain controller. FSMO roles should only be seized if the current role holder is not available.
For more information, go to the following Microsoft website:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc816945(WS.10).aspx
FSMO roles that are assigned to domain controllers that are offline or in an error state only have to be transferred or seized if role-dependent operations are being performed. If the role holder can be made operational before the role is needed, you may
delay seizing the role. If role availability is critical, transfer or seize the role as required. The PDC role in each domain should online at all times.
Select a direct intrasite replication partner for existing role holders to act as a standby role holder. If the primary owner goes offline or fails, transfer or seize the role to the designated standby FSMO domain controller as required.
    General recommendations for FSMO placement
Place the schema master on the PDC of the forest root domain.
Place the domain naming master on the forest root PDC.
The addition or removal of domains should be a tightly controlled operation. Place this role on the forest root PDC. Certain operations that use the domain naming master, such as creating or removing domains and application partitions, fail if the domain naming
master is not available. On a domain controller that runs Microsoft Windows 2000, the domain naming master must also be hosted on a global catalog server. On domain controllers that run Windows Server 2003 or later versions, the domain naming master does not
have to be a global catalog server.
Place the PDC on your best hardware in a reliable hub site that contains replica domain controllers in the same Active Directory site and domain.
In large or busy environments, the PDC frequently has the highest CPU utilization because it handles pass-thru authentication and password updates. If high CPU utilization becomes a problem, identify the source, and this includes applications or computers that
may be performing too many operations (transitively) targeting the PDC. Techniques to reduce CPU include the following:
    Adding more or faster CPUs
    Adding additional replicas
Adding additional memory to cache Active Directory objects
Removing the global catalog to avoid global catalog lookups
Reducing the number of incoming and outgoing replication partners
    Increasing the replication schedule
Reducing authentication visibility by using LDAPSRVWEIGHT and LDAPPRIORITY, and by using the Randomize1CList feature that's described in
    231305.
All domain controllers in a particular domain, and computers that run applications and admin tools that target the PDC, must have network connectivity to the domain PDC.
Place the RID master on the domain PDC in the same domain.
RID master overhead is light, especially in mature domains that have already created the bulk of their users, computers, and groups. The domain PDC typically receives the most attention from administrators. Therefore, co-locating this role on the PDC helps
ensure reliable availability. Make sure that existing domain controllers and newly promoted domain controllers, especially those promoted in remote or staging sites, have network connectivity to obtain active and standby RID pools from the RID master.
Legacy guidance suggests placing the infrastructure master on a non-global catalog server. There are two rules to consider:
    Single domain forest:
In a forest that contains a single Active Directory domain, there are no phantoms. Therefore, the infrastructure master has no work to do. The infrastructure master may be placed on any domain controller in the domain, regardless of whether that domain controller
hosts the global catalog or not.
    Multidomain forest:
If every domain controller in a domain that is part of a multidomain forest also hosts the global catalog, there are no phantoms or work for the infrastructure master to do. The infrastructure master may be put on any domain controller in that domain. In practical
terms, most administrators host the global catalog on every domain controller in the forest.
If every domain controller in a given domain that is located in a multidomain forest does not host the global catalog, the infrastructure master must be placed on a domain controller that does not host the global catalog.

  • Impact of enabling Conversion in transfer rule

    Hi Experts,
From last two days I am facing an issue while loading the data in a object which has conversion exit as ALPHA.
When any numeric value is coming it ig giving an error message, i searched SDN and found out that in tranfer rule if
I enable conversion(check box) this will get resolved.
Now I am not sure of the impact of enabling this conversion, this is an attribute of 0WBS_ELEMT.
    Please suggest.

    Hi Vivek,
You use ALPHA conversion for the fields which have the type "CHAR" but expecting numerical values to be stored in there. If you do the conversion the conversion routine will pad the numerical values with leading zeros.
If this is not the information that you are seeking, pls tell us what error you are receiving in the transformation and which check box are you mentioning.
    Hope this helps,

  • Error in collecting transfer Rules in transport request after system copy

    Hello,
Recently we had a system copy from Production to Test system.
We are trying to collect all the transfer rules from production in the transport request with the procedure which is given in the below link.
Re: Q: Transfer Rules after system copy
When we are trying to transport such objects, system first prompt for transportable workbench request, after specifying request once, it prompts for it again and after providing transport request number system results with message u201CSpecify a requestu201D.
Please suggest how to overcome this issue.

thats scary that you are copying your transfer rules from production to test system well if you guy sare doing it good luck..
a part from that make sure your prd is open so it allows items to be able to transport an dthere is a conenction between prd to test for transports to go through
if you have already copied all te data source to TEST, replicate them IN BWQ( your test system) then send over tranfer fules .
    hope that helps.

  • Upgraded to Windows 8.1, CRXI RDC crashes VB6

    Hello,
We have a number of Visual Basic 6 projects that utilize Crystal Reports XI.  We maintain these reports within Visual Basic 6 itself using the Report Designer Component (RDC).  This has always worked for us and allows us to continue with further enhancements and updates of these programs.
Upon upgrading to Windows 8.1 (32-bit), I've found that I can no longer maintain reports built with CRXI via the RDC within Visual Basic 6.  The VB6 IDE opens fine and displays all components within the Project Explorer as expected.  I can even open a CRXI report within the RDC in VB6 and it displays on-screen.  However, shortly after it opens I get a hard crash of the program, displaying the following error:
    Visual Basic has stopped working.
Windows then attempts to find a solution to the problem and can't.
    Some additional information:
    1.  Everything was working fine when the system was running Windows 8.0.  It was only after the upgrade to Windows 8.1 that this issue started occurring.  Likewise, other workstations running Windows 8.0 (even those that are 64-bit) do not exhibit the problem described above.
    2.  I have uninstalled and re-installed/re-registered/re-patched Crystal Reports XI on the problematic workstation and the issue still persists.
    3.  To rule out permission / read-only access issues, I have disconnected the project from our internal source control system and made it stand-alone, giving myself "Full Control" to all associated files.  Problem still occurs.
    4.  I have UAC disabled, local admin rights on the workstation, and have attempted to run Visual Basic 6 "as administrator" (i.e.; elevated mode) and the issue continues to persist.
Are there any known issues / incompatibilities with Crystal Reports XI and Windows 8.1?  Any ideas or suggestions to get things working again?  Any and all help will be appreciated.
    Thanks!

Thanks for the information Ludek.  That's good to know.
After a bit more research, I was able to find a resolution and get things working as they did before Windows 8.1 was installed.
The VB6.EXE application crash produced an Application event in the Event Viewer.  The content of this message tipped me off to the problem.  In this case, it was of the "windows cannot access the file" variety.  Unfortunately, the actual file that is having the problem appears blank in the event.
From there, I did a little bit of homework regarding Visual Basic 6 and Windows 7/8 in general and found that most issues can be resolved by running the VB6.EXE in Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode.  I then completed the following:
    1.  Found the VB6.EXE in my file system.
    2.  Right clicked, went to Properties, clicked the Compatibility tab.
    3.  Located the section labeled Compatibility mode, clicked the checkbox to run in compatibility mode and selected Windows XP SP2 from the dropdown.
I then re-loaded the project and open the CRXI report in the RDC.  No app crash... problem solved :-)
As mentioned, unfortunately I don't know exactly what CRXI related file Windows 8.1 is having an issue with.  I originally thought it was something related to a mapped network drive, but all associated files seem to be pointing to the local C drive.  I know that Windows Security has certain issues with read/write access to the C drive as well, so it could be a more "local" issue after all.  Moving the project to a local drive other than C: might've resolved the issue as well.
In any case, this gets us back up and running under Windows 8.1.  Hope this helps somebody else running into a similar issue.  We have *many* programs that began life as VB6 projects quite a number of years ago.  We are migrating these over to VB.NET successfully and at a consistent pace... it just takes time to do it right.  This workaround effectively grants us some more time.
