FTP Authentication Required

Hi,
I have a IronPort S370.
Proxy FTP is not enabled, so we use FTP over HTTP.
We have create policies to access some sites FTP, but that doesn't work.
We get a message "Page cannot be displayed : FTP authentication required"
Have you an idea ?
Thank you in advance for your help !

Hi,
If you are using FTP over HTTP, you would have to prepend the username password in the URL. e.g:
"ftp://USERNAME:[email protected]"
For more information, please check the section "How to access an FTP site that is not anonymous using Internet Explorer" at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb794745.aspx

  • How do I permanently remove "Authentication Required" window that continues to pop up?

I am running Firefox 15.0.1 on Mac OS 10.6.8. A window continues to pop up that reads, "Authentication Required" and "Enter username and password for ftp://ftp.radiogarage.com". This happens every time Firefox is opened and continues to pop up approximately every 30-60 seconds until I close Firefox. How do I permanently remove/delete/get rid of this pop up window? I have clicked on Help > Troubleshooting Information > Reset Firefox but that has not solved the issue. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

The error I see is you did not specify the proper authentication for the smtp server.
In the Mail preferences for the account, smtp popup, select Edit SMTP Server List.  A sheet will drop down.  Select Advanced tab on that sheet.  You should, I assume, set the Authentication to password, and set the proper username and password.  That's where the poper would be set if 587 is not the one you should be using.  Maybe it is.  I only bring it up since I see it trying to use port 587.
If you got this stuff already set correctly then I don't know.  Mail has a problem in your setup.  Maybe delete the account and recreate it from scratch.

  • I am getting a printer message "on hold, Authentication required" when directly connected (USB) to any printer I try to install to my MacBook Pro.  Any ideas?

I am having trouble with printing from my MacBook Pro.  After succesfully installing a printer, sending a print job results in a alert in the print que that says "on hold  Authentication Required"
I am fairly new to Mac and have not the slightest clue what I am doing wrong.  Please help!
    Thanks, Slojon

After upgrading to OSX Mountain Lion on one of our home computers and having no difficulty with printer access for months, after a glitch involving loss of power, suddenly "On hold (authentication required)" started showing up.
When I deleted the printer and then tried to add it back using the default listing for the printer I got the message "Unable to download the software from the server at this time."  I felt I was going backwards.  The whole situation was maddening for a couple of days.
    Details:
Older G5 Desktop Mac running OSX Snow Leopard wth an HP Color LaserJet 2550 attached via USB.
Early 2011 13" MacBook Pro running OSX Mountain Lion.
    Airport WiFi network.
This is really two problems: how to add a printer successfully and how to print without authentication.
    How to add a printer
Do not use the default listing for adding the printer that shows up in the popup menu, instead use the generic "Add printer" command, then select the printer and printer type from the secondary menu that comes up.  This worked fine for me.
How to avoid the "Authentication required"
    Software update on both machines.
Reset printing system (Option & minus "-" key) on both systems.
Add the printer back to the server (older G5 Mac in my case) system.
Ensure that both the printer sharing is selected for the printer and …
… that printer sharing is turned on globally in the Sharing System Preferences
Add the printer back to the client system
I was also able to work this through the CUPS system described in other posts (http://localhost:631) but I always prefer to let Mac OSX handle the UNIX details since I have greater confidence I won't be inadvertantly messing something up.

  • Anyone know how to remove a pesky "Authentication Required" box?

I visited (shame on me!!) a tasteful but adult-oriented art photo site and by mistake clicked on a content link which required a "member subscription" to view. My system attempted to use iTunes to open the file, and it threw an "Authentication Required" nag box on the screen. The box continues, "To access this site, you need to log in to area 'Members_Only' on _____________.com. Your password will be sent in the clear.", followed by fill-in boxes for the Name and Password.
Now, I have never gone back to that site, yet almost each time I launch iTunes, I get this box, and I actually have to cancel out of it about 15 times in rapid succession before it will disappear from the screen and let the iTunes application display my music browser. Is there a preference cache file that I can trash to get rid of this, without losing any other valuable settings, like my iTunes online store registration info?

It sounds like iTunes is still trying to access or download something form that site. Let iTunes finish opening. click cancel on the dialog and check the iTunes library, podcasts and other folders.playlists for the unwanted content. Delete it when you find it.

  • How do I get rid of "Authentication Required" all the time?

In Firefox ONLY at certain sites (perhaps Google sites) a dialog box pops up and at the top it says, "Authentication Required" and I can type in any of my Google log-ins and click OK and it goes away FOR A TIME. It keeps popping up as I am browsing. There is usually a line pertaining to mail delivery. I can't seem to capture the dialog box in order to send it to you. Now that I would like to show you what it says I can't make it appear.

There is no "switch" to turn off Private Browsing. A "hack" was posted in this forum for Firefox 3.5 and 3.6 versions a number of times, but Firefox 4.0 has that file that needs to be hacked is inside the omni.jar file which makes accessing the file that controls PB a lot more difficult. Plus, the hack will probably be gone the next time Firefox is updated with a new omni.jar file.

  • Authentication required on Windows Printer

When I set up my windows network printer under leopard, it asked me to type in my user name and password to connect to the server with the windows print spooler. ok, done.
So now, when I print to that shared printer, the documents get hung up in the queue and give the document status as "On Hold (Authentication required)." If I click the document and then click RESUME, it asks me to "Enter your name and password to print to the printer." I do, but the documents do not print and the status in the queue doesn't change.
Anyone know what I'm not doing?

uhoh... just found the solution in another thread here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5852413
I have the solution for you.
Prerequisites: 1. your windows PC with the printer on it needs to have an admin account on it with a single word no spaces. (preferred unix) 2. your printer sharename is a single word (ie. Canon iP4300 should be just ip4300).
    Now follow the below steps:
    1. Open your system preferences > Open Print & Fax
    2. Click + to add a printer.
    3. Right-click on the Toolbar at the top and select "Customise Toolbar..."
    4. Drag the "Advanced" icon to the toolbar & select "Done"
    5. Click the "Advanced" icon
    6. Select "Windows" from the "Type:" drop down menu
    7. In the "URL:" textbox type the location of your windows printer in the format below (use the format depending on whether your Windows PC sharing the Printer has a password or not):
smb://username:password@ipaddress/printersharename <- Print Server does have a password
smb://username@ipaddress/printersharename <- Print Server does NOT have a password
    (eg. smb://[email protected]/ip4300)
    8. Enter a Name and Location. (Human Friendly Names with Spaces are allowed)
    9. Now select the appropriate driver and then click "Add"
    10. Try printing somthing and then it will ask for a username and password of your windows server. Type and username and then the password and then add this to your keychain and click OK.
And there you go. Printing in OSX 10.5

  • When trying to launch iTunes it freezes and I get the message: "Authentication Required. To access this site you need to log in to area "100656 on mellor.co. Your password will be sent in the clear." I am unable to enter a uname or password. Please help!!

When trying to launch iTunes on my PC running Windows 7 it freezes and I get the message: "Authentication Required. To access this site you need to log in to area "100656 on mellor.co. Your password will be sent in the clear." Because iTunes is frizen at this point I am unable to enter a username or password, or in fact do anything. Please help!! I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes numerous times as well as attempting all of the fixes that I could find on-line and still no joy.

That sounds extremely phishy to me... iTunes does not require authentication simply to launch it. I suspect you've got something nasty intercepting network traffic. That server may be set up to log the Apple ID that you enter so it can be used fraudulently. Try ComboFix from Bleeping Computer.
FWIW the domain mellor.co is registered to an accountants in Knutsford, Cheshire, UK, and produces the same authentication request if visited with a browser. There is no sign of a "real" publicly visible website at that domain which is a somewhat odd.

  • I just switched to Charter. When going to Mozilla Firefox a box appears saying, Authentication Required and asks for a User name and Password. What do I do?

I switched from CenturyTel to Charter. I can't use Firefox because a box appears asking me for Authentication Required, User Name and Password. When I hit cancel, this message appears:
    HTTP 401 - Unauthorized
Authorization is required to access the configuration server.
You must enter the correct username and/or password.
When I called Charter, they told me they recommended using Internet Explorer. I told them I didn't want IE, I preferred Firefox. They recommended I go to your support page, so here I am. :o)

Have you reset the password recently for the email account?
A real simple fix usually is to delete the mail account (settings < mail contacts calendars, tap the affected account and choose delete at the bottom) Then re add the account.

Given Below is the Error..      The SMTP server requires a secure connection or the client was not authenticated. The server response was: 5.5.1 Authentication Required.
    Solution:
The error might occur due to following cases.
case 1: when the password is wrong
case 2: when you try to login from some App
case 3: when you try to login from the domain other than your time zone/domain/computer (This
is the case in most of scenarios when sending mail from code)
There is a solution for each
solution for case 1: Enter the correct password.
Recomended: solution for case 2: go to
security settings at the following link https://www.google.com/settings/security/lesssecureapps and
enable less secure apps . So that you will be able to login from all apps.
solution 1 for case 3: (This might be helpful) you need to review the activity. but reviewing the activity will not be helpful due to latest security
standards the link will not be useful. So try the below case.
solution 2 for case 3: If you have hosted your code somewhere on production server and if you have access to the production server, than take remote
desktop connection to the production server and try to login once from the browser of the production server. This will add exception for login to google and you will be allowed to login from code.
But what if you don't have access to the production server. try
    the solution 3
solution 3 for case 3: You have to enable
login from other timezone / ip for your google account.
to do this follow the link https://g.co/allowaccess and
allow access by clicking the continue button.
And that's it. Here you go. Now you will be able to login from any of the computer and by any means of app to your google account.

  • 550 5.7.1 RESOLVER.RST.AuthRequired; authentication required

Following error i get  when sending mail to SharePoint mail enabled library. It create contac  with  non ruted domain. Domain is not public. Let say that ending of domain is LOC. So it is not

And it is A  contact, not Distribution group. Let put it , that that name  of the contact is : [email protected]
I have setup Hybrid. All Exchange server s  are Exchange 2013 CU5.
To make it work, I have tried to send mail, to that library through share mailbox or transport rule…. Every time I send mail from outside organization or from mailbox, that is hosted in O365 I get following error :

Customer has internal domain whom  FQDN is noreg.loc. They have SharePoint  farm.  Farm has several  mail enabled document libraries.   Email enabled libraries has  FQDN  of sharepoint.noreg.loc.  They have  about
100 of those mail enabled libraries.  When library is crated it create contact, that is
    [email protected],
[email protected] , and so on...
Internal users can send  mail to that SharePoint library, works.  It has stopped working for those  whose  mailbox »user« is moved to  Office 365.
Now i have a problem. Because domain noreg.loc and sharepoint.noreg.loc is publically non-rutable domain, i do not wont to change  all emails addresses of library, I will  or I`m trying to do workaround.
    First detailed  of contact :

I can not use distribution group, and sync it to office 365. Because expansion of members in that distribution group, will happened  in Office 365 Exchange server. That will end up with error non existing domain for
    lsharepoint.noreg.loc.
So I have tried with shared mailbox, that has setup forward to contact
[email protected].  I know that shared mailbox, has pickup mail, because, I have forget to set it, that every one can send to these recipient.  When that is setup,  mail is received, and transferred to  [email protected]
, where it failed with error  authentication required.  Server that   send  error is Mailbox server “Exchange 2013”.
I will try to setup classical mailbox, with forward to contact, but that would use local licences, that I do not wont.
I need to setup  default receive connector on MBX server to allow  no-authenticated “server”  to relay, which I thing is security problem.
I do not understand why would sending mail to contact, required  authentication

    Hello,
Please try to use telnet command to send message to sharepoint to check the result.
Please create a new receive connector, and then enable "anonymous users" on a new receive connector to check the result.

  • Payload definition based on url based xsd with authentication required

After importing an xml schema from a URL location, I receive an error when attempting to define message payloads types:
Exception - Unable to parse schema logininfo.xsd
Server returned HTTP response code: 401 for URL
That is because the logininfo.xsd imports type definitions from another schema (which is exactly on the same directory on the remote server, same owner):
    <xs:import namespace="http://sru/profile" schemaLocation="http://joekill:8080/public/profile.xsd"/>
Any way to get around this?

Same problem exists with bpel designer 10.1.2.
Exception: Server returned HTTP response code: 401 for URL: http://joekill:8080/public/logininfo.xsd
hence, it seems I cannot define a schema for input elements of a bpel process that inherit types from other schemas if those are in an authentication-required webserver (xdb via webdav, in my case)
    can anybody else confirm this?

  • Apache, authentication required, key not working

I'm trying to set up my PC with Apache Server. If i try to access it from my laptop in our home, it serves on 192.168.1.102 I went to no-ip.biz because we have a dynamic IP here. when i try to remotely access the server, i get a screen that says: Authentication required Enter username and password for "linksys BEFW11S4 V.2" at http://XXXXXX.no-ip.biz (xxx being my subdomain i requested) the screen will not accept any 'admin' or the network key i use. Any advice?

    Hi
You should use port forwarding and forward your apache port (usually 80) to the ip address of the machine that has apached installed
    Hope this works

  • In my iPhone appears a page with "Authentication Required", but I do not know why...

Someone could explain me why appears when I try to open Safari, App Store, and others.. a Page asking me a Username and password by a Authentication Required? I live in Venezuela, this is my second day with the iPhone, and I only did download games here...
Please, help.. I try with my Apple ID and did not work...

Could you explain further what is happening on the screen right before you get prompted by Safari?
For App Store, Apple asks you to authenticate yourself so that your activity can be synced between your iPhone and computer and so that you can download apps (including games). Other apps ask for you to authenticate for a number of other reasons.
Are you sure your using the proper username and password combination for the prompt? Especially when first starting to use the keyboard, you might find that typing on the iPhone takes some getting used to. You might think that you're typing the proper password while accidentally mistyping by one character.
