FTP Bug in dreamweaver 5.5

I just upgraded to DW 5.5 included in my master collection, I'm connecting to FTP no problem, but I'm unable to upload to the ROOT folder only.
I can upload to any other folder, for example, images in the assets, swf in the flash folder etc.
Premission are correct, godaddy hosting upper tier support thought they fixed a rare problem on there end.
Turns out they can upload to the root folder on there end but not on mine through dreamweaver 5.5. FTP
Any else have this problem and know how to fix it? Fillezilla is my only option right now.
Big thanks.

Yet another GoDaddy/DW ftp problem... Since DW works pretty well with everything BUT GoDaddy, I keep saying this is a GoDaddy problem.
They may be the biggest, but that CERTAINLY doesn't mean they're the best.

  • FTP BUG in Dreamweaver CS6 after upgrading to build 5861

I just updated Dreamweaver CS6 to 12.0.1 build 5861.  Now Dreamwearver fails to put files after several successful puts of the same file.  Only symptom is that the background uploader window fails to appear.   Only solution is to close and re-open Dreamweaver.
Further testing seems to indicate this condition only happens if I manually save a changed file before attempting the Put.  It seems to consistently work correctly if I perform the Put and wait for Dreamweaver to prompt me to save the file.
THIS IS DEFINITELY A BUG THAT SHOULD BE FIXED - Dreamweaver CS6 Perpetual license (Not Cloud)

  • FTP Bug Dreamweaver CS3

There is a issue with Dreamweaver CS3 and ftp connections. For some reason if I leave dreamweaver open for a few hours and come back, I get an error when saving to the web server that an ftp error has occurred. There is no problem with ftp service on the server and no the users are not maxing out the connection.
The simple yet odd fix is to restart dreamweaver. The problem is that dreamweaver should not do this. If i have saved documents and open from the remote, and if the remote over rides the local, I have lost changes made to given file.
Dreamweaver's ftp bug is a problem. Having 18 specific documents open in dreamweaver, just to have to close and re open dreamweaver just to save files to a known working ftp server.
Has anyone else had this issue?

    Those seem like good practices.
As far as the firewall issue, I am very sure that it is not the firewall, unless its a bug with windows firewall being disabled and dreamweaver checking its status and getting confused. The windows firewall is disabled by group policy and being a local admin, I am sure of this.
Just to give a better idea of the issue.
I come in at 8, and I open dreamweaver. I open files edit them, save them, which by my settings ftp's saved files. I have no problem saving the files to the remote server.
Around 12 ish i leave for lunch and I come back to dreamweaver. Dreamweaver, is the way i left it, it has a few of the files I am working on open inside of dreamweaver. I make a change to any given file and save it, i then get the FTP error. I could try changing the "site" i am working on and connect to its ftp, just to get an FTP error. I leave dreamweaver in its current state, and i open filezilla and ftp into the same server as well as delete, rename, copy files to the ftp.
In order to resolve the connecting to ftp issue, I have to close and reopen dreamweaver. And only after doing that can i access any ftp server through dreamweaver.
If i could never get to the ftp server through dreamweaver, I would assume a firewall issue, but that is not the case.

  • Cannot cannect to a particular ftp via both Dreamweaver 8 & GoLive CS2

OK, my trouble is a little complicated.
I have two different FTP servers: One is provided by
Dreamhost, another is provided by Startlogic.
Suddenly, it became unable to connect to Startlogic's ftp in
Dreamweaver MX2004. So, I upgraded to 8 in order to see if it works
again. No, it is no longer able to work on ftp connection. My ftp
setting is just correct. By the way, my OS is Windows 2000.
Here's the error message: "The connection to the remote host
has been lost. Click refresh to reconnect."
Then, I click "OK" and I get this error message: "togglinng
the 'Use Passive FTP" check box may help you establish a
connection. Select or de-select the checkbox and click Test to try
again. If the problem persists, check your network setting,
including the local firewall settings on your computer, or consult
    your network administrator."
So, I did what the message instructed
Then, I get another long error message: "An FTP error
occurred. - cannot get a remote folder information. Dreamweaver
could not connect to the server. This may be due to one or more of
    the following reasons: ...."
On the other hand, there is no problem with Dreamhost ftp. I
have tried to test with different applications such as GoLive CS2
and a generic ftp application. Only Startlogic's ftp does not work
on both Dreamweaver and GoLive, but it works on ta generic ftp
    application.
I tried to connect to Startlogic's ftp on a ftp application
from a different computer. It was a success. I have not tested
    Dreamweaver and GoLive though.
I have some other accounts of Startlogic's ftp and tried to
test those ftp. None of them worked via Dreamweaver on my computer.
Now, I don't understand why I cannot connect to only
Startlogic's ftp with Dreamweaver 8 & GoLive CS2. Is it my
computer's fault? Is it caused by some bugs on Dreamweaver 8 &
GoLive CS2? I asked Startlogic's tech support but they said that
they could connect to my ftp. I don't have firewall software
installed. My router might have though. My network admin has no
    idea why it causes this.
    Should I reinstall those Dreamweaver 8 & GoLive CS2
    anyway?
Thank you for your help in advance.

The answer is always the same. Check your firewall for its
    interference.

  • Question: Cannot afford cloud pricing (am retired).  Have a bug in Dreamweaver 5.

OK, so I have been a customer of Adobe for many years.  I am now retired and cannot afford the cloud structure pricing.  I have several bugs in Dreamweaver 5, one of which replicates the editable region so there is a duplicate after the first one.  I've managed to migrate my site to HTML5 without the benefit of Dreamweaver 6 (Ouch).  Am I stuck up the river without a paddle?

Stuck?  No, I don't think so.  DW CS5 still works.

  • Unable to connect to the remote ftp server using dreamweaver.

For the last one week I have been trying to connect to the remote ftp server using dreamweaver. I spoke to the technical support agency who manage our remote server but they are saying that there is no problem with the server adn they dont know anythign about dreamweaver so cant assist me.
I was suggested to check with adobe team directly and i spoke to a technical support person on the live chat but they said since the version is CS4 - education version, they cant assist me at all!! This is just ridiculous...I am constantly being sent from one place to the other without anything getting resolved!!
    Please help somebody!!

I am having a similar problem... maybe.  I was connected to my remote site all day yesterday, then out of the blue I tried to "put" an edited file... as I had been doing all day, and I received an FTP error:  Cannot make connection to host. Your login or password is incorrect.  That's odd, I've been connecting all day.  So I went into my sites > manage sites and clicked the Test button on my remote server information and it returned Adboe Dreamweaver CS connected to your webserver successfully.  I went back to my file and tried once more to "put" it on the remote server... again FTP Error: cannot make connect to host...  So I reboot my computer and start Dreamweaver CS3 again.  I reenter my remoter server information and click the Test button.  "... connect to your webserver successfully".  I try to put any file, FTP error again.  So I call my server administrator, he checks the servers logs and says there are no errors and you've connected successfully several times today.  I went through the trouble shooting steps listed here, though my FTP Logs are empty.  I cannot stay connected or even see the remote folders to try to drag and drop.  I tried to run ftp from a windows command prompt and it seems to connect me.
I downloaded an installed an SFTP client and was able to successfully connect to my remote server and upload the files.  It's definately a Dreamweaver problem.  Any suggestions?

  • Problems with FTP connection in Dreamweaver 4

I hope someone can help me with the following:
Since recently I can only connect to the FTP host within
    Dreamweaver once a day.
I have two defined sites in my Dreamweaver 4 and before I
could connect several times a day both sites - no problem.
But now it connects once and then when either trying to
connect to the other defined site or perhaps a while later to the
first site again (where I connected well on the same day already) I
am getting the error message: 'FTP error - connection to the host
    cannot be madet'.
Basically it will now always only connect daily once.
Anyone any idea what is causing this?
    Many thanks for your help.

These issues are most often associated with your firewall.
    Please try
    disabling it altogether.

  • FTP Fails in Dreamweaver MX, Same Config Works in CS5

I've been using Dreamweaver MX for about 5 years and have been using FTP throughout that period.  About a week ago FTP started failing with the error message "An FTP error occurred - cannot make connection to host."  My FTP log is blank, as if it did not attempt to make an FTP connection.  If I save my site config and using that same site config in Dreamweaver CS5, then I can connect and use FTP without issue.  I can also connect with other FTP programs, such as Filezilla. This confirms that I am using correct login information, and FTP is available for the website.  Switching to passive FTP did not help.  Removing and re-installing Dreamweaver MX did not help.  Turning off all my firewalls did not help.  Searching around the web, one person mentioned a similar issue being caused by the server that maintains the website changing their SSH host key changing and were able to resolve that by deleting Dreamweaver's ssh host file.  For him the file was at ~/Library/Application Support/Dreamweaver 8/Configuration/ssh_hosts.  However, it seems to be in a different location for Dreamweaver MX on my Widows 7 computer.  Any ideas on what might be causing this or what I could try?

    BarakObi wrote:
How about if you take a gamble and reinstall your DW MX?  It could solve the problem. IMHO
Well - this is a very good suggestion but what puzzles me is why should a software that worked for 5 years suddenly stopped working.  This is completely beyond any sensible reasons.
I think the MX was initially working in either Windows 2000 or Windows XP and now the NA770 decided to install the same product in Windows 7.  If this is so then it looks like it must be a question of rights attached to that user.  The OP should, perhaps try using as an ADMINISTRATOR or a USER account with those privileges to see if it is anything to do with the rights/security issues of Windows 7.
We don't know if the product is still running on the old operating system/machine.  5 years ago we didn't have Windows 7 and MX was released well before XP was released.
I am reluctant to suggest to reformat the HD and clear any bugs that might have entered the system but it is up to the OP to decide now.
There is no solution to this problem assuming all the configuration settings are correct as claimed in this thread.

  • FTP Broken in Dreamweaver CS6 and CC

I have been unable to ftp into 1 of 3 websites that I maintain ever since upgrading to Dreamweaver CS6 (and now CC). The problem appears to be that the site's root directory name as reported by a PWD command is shorter than the name required to be issued by the CWD command after logging into the FTP server. CS5.5 logs into the website's FTP server without any trouble and the script looks like this:
< 220 Service Ready for new User
    > USER .myusername
< 331 Password Needed for Login
    > PASS
< 230 User HUBING Logged in Successfully

Dreamweaver CS6 and Dreamweaver CC start out correctly, then suddenly issue a QUIT command:
< 220 Service Ready for new User
    > USER myusername
< 331 Password Needed for Login
    > PASS
< 230 User HUBING Logged in Successfully

    > PWD
    < 257 "/gs16/SHARE/web/cvel" is Current Directory
    > QUIT
    < 221 Closing Session
    Any suggestions?

    Bhawna,
Yes. I can establish a connection without defining the site root folder. The directory that I login to by default is /EH05/users/hubing. One of the other sites that I maintain is in a subdirectory of that folder and Dreamweaver CC connects to that site without any problem. It just isn't able to switch to //gs16/gs16/share/web/cvel. Dreamweaver CS5.5 and WSFTP don't seem to have any problem with this.
Unfortunately, I can't send you the .ste file, because the password can't be shared. I appreciate your help though!

  • Site definition settings on FTP use in Dreamweaver CS4

I work on a MackBook Pro, Mavericks OS, with Dreamweaver CS4. In filling in my settings in Site Definition dialog for local site and remote site, sometimes doing a Test I get the message that I am connected, but when I try to upload through Put arrow in Files Window I get the message "FTP error occurred cannot make connection to host. Your login or password is incorrect. Check your connection information."
I do get the FTP transfer to work sometimes, but then it stops working. I have used a template to set up my pages. Could my settings using the template have something to do with it?

    Definitely not.

  • FTP Bug ?

    Hi,
I'm testing the authorware FTP-demo.a6p file, in the
    "Quicktest" area.
I connect to my server OK
    1. FtpStore copies a local file to the server and gives no
    errors. However,
if the local file has a size LESS than 32KB, the copied file
    has zero bytes.
    2. A similar thing happens with FtpAppend. In addition, when
    attempting to
append a file (rather than create a new one), an error
    occurs.
Has anyone else experienced this ?
Is there a fix please ?
    Thanks for your help.

    Thanks Erik.
That's the sample I've been testing.
I managed to get around the problem with a POSTURL and a bit
    of perl cgi
script on the server ... but I have some more things I need
    to do as well.
It would be nice if I could get the FTP working.

  • [BUG?] Dreamweaver CS3 b3481 removes all source

    Hello,
Since a few days I noticed that Dreamweaver (CS3 build 3481)
is removing all of my PHP-coded source if I didn't close the
    PHP-tag; '
    ?>'.
    This is how I found out;
First I created a new PHP-document and went to the Source of
it. After some typing of HTML and PHP, the document had to be saved
to a file. For example, the document's source is:
    quote:
    <?="Echoing a foobar!";?><br
    /><table><tr><td>foo
    bar</td></tr></table><?
    More PHP source comes here
    ... without closing the PHP-tag.
The document will be saved to a file (f.e.: foobar.php). Now,
    everything after '</table>' is gone.
    How is this possible?
Thanks for any read and respond.

I haven't come across this. If you have reproducible steps,

  • Seasonal Time Change Bug crashes Dreamweaver 9 (CS3)- still no fix?

The fact that Adobe has produced a new version of CS3 does not in my opinion give them a reason not to fix the CS3 bug that causes Dreamweaver to crash when any attempt is made to edit the ASP or  PHP components of a file.
This bug is caused by daylight time adjustments.
The podge that is recommended by Adobe is to delete the WinFileCache-AD76BB20
While this works, as it happens only every 6 months, it is easy to spend time working out why your existing files all crash the system, but newly created ones do not.
You can find the solution at http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/402/kb402776.html
Bookmark this as it may save you the 4 hours or so that I spent trying to find a solution.
It would cost Adobe nothing to send out an e-mail to all existing owners of CS3 containing this bug fix, and would certainly improve their reputation in many quarters.

    well.
it feels bad, after paying money.
not being able to use a software full.
and ADOBE must be ashamed to give such service
(by not updating these softwares which has still lots of unknonw! bugs and also must be ashamed to put a page for unknown bugs. and trying to make customers be their own software engineers instead of the company's hundreths of engineers)
and this, which they do not fix their program is not important or the issue.
it is a sad subject that, they think the people will give money to fix their unusable programs which they already bought.
and to customers who has paid about 1000$ to a software suit are having a bad vision that ADOBE started to work for money instead of customer happiness.
    when they understand their
1000$ program has no support at all. no update or fixes at all.
which can not do a simple action
which the simplest editor WORDPAD editor does.
