FTP Connection Error

I am trying to set up a server. I have used all information given by my professor and he has verified it. Everytime I go to test I get the following error message:
"An FTP error occurred. Cannot make connection to host. An unknown error occurred."
I am using a Mac and changed file sharing to FTP and allowed Dreamweaver thru the firewall. I know the error is on my end as the professor was able to login which means the account was set up right. I am using wifi so I tried plugging it directly into the cable but still no luck. My ISP says there should not be an issue with FTP being blocked. Is there another setting I've overlooked?

You need to look at your ftp log to see what is wrong with the connection. For Apple Mac, the log file is located at this link:
Window > > FTP Log. (I can't confirm this because you guessed it, I don't have a Mac)
You don't use Windows so this link won't be of any use to you where I posted a picture of how to get into the log file!

I am transferring data from BI to xml file via PI: Here a Client proxy from BI sends the data to PI and the PI FTPs the XML file to a remote location. For FTP I am using FTPs SSL connection.
It was working fine untill I used Variable susbstitution to determine Directory path dynamically. I am using this because different xml files are intended to goto the different locations.
I did the variable substitution like this:
Target Message Structure:

I guess the problem is not with Variable Substitution..
Error when getting an FTP connection from connection pool:
So its a connection problem..
Also check the option Disable Security check and try again...
Try to check again if the interface is executing properly without Variable substitution and let us know..

while using file adapter in the reciever end for proxy to file
i am giving paranters like server IP address and the port , i dont know which port to give by default it is giving me 21 , anyway how to check whether the connection is correct

First check wether server started or not and then check you are connecting to FTP server by
go to run -> cmd and write ping and ipaddress which is used and see whether u r getting reponse from teh FTP server.
Try to login to the ftp server which you have mentioned in CC using the user name and pwd, to chk whether you have the permissions to login to the server.
Also the check whether the folder you are trying to access is having permission for delete/read/write.
Restart the FTP server and try it again.

Sender File Adapter - FTP Connection Error 530

Need help!!!
I am getting the following error in XI when I try to connect to an ftp server.
"An error occured while connecting to server xxx.xx.x.xx:xx. The FTP server returned the following error message:'com.sap.aii.adapter.file.FTPEx: 530 Can't open passive connection---(4013)'. For details, contact FTP server vendor"
When I try the FTP connection on the OS level I am able to log in, but through XI I am unable to.
Has anyone seen this error before?

I have seen Error Code 530 earlier, it is typically related to login related issues.
Check if the user mentioned in the Comm Channel has the correct password and read as well as write rights on the Server.
The most likely problem is with the User Credentials or Authorizations

FTPS connection error in the adapter monitoring

Hi people,
I make a FTPS connection and the adapter monitor give me this error:
Error: Error connecting to ftp server 'ithppbd0':
ConnectException: Connection timed out (errno:238)
I use a certificate to make this connection.
Is obligatory the use of the private key? or I can use a public key and how?

You may verify the URL, Login ID and Password with logging in via a browser or command prompt.
Some FTP sites allow only a limited number of connections, so check with the FTP site administrator. In the adapter, make sure that you have specified the correct Connection Security and the Command Order.
FTPS does not need the keys, unless you have specified the X.509 Cetificate for Client Authentication.
Lastly, Make sure that the connect mode is per File Transfer.

FTP connection error w/DW5.5 - cannot connect to host

I was able to upload to my site on Monday, but the next day I started receiving the FTP error: cannot connect to host. It's not an issue with my provider and I can post using net2ftp.com and Filezilla, but not in Dreamweaver CS5.5.
I went to the manage site area and created an Adobe Test Server - I receive the same error.
I've studied several discussions, but I can't get this to work. Any new ideas?

I've been managing this site for a long time and update coupons on it approximately every 60 days. For some reason, I'm not having problems:
I opened DW CS5 today and made the changes necessary to update coupons. I was able to connect to the host server with no problem but most of my coupon images were not showing up. DW tells me I have 70 broken links, which can't be the case because I've reviewed them. Some links work and are the same as the broken links other than the file name. Unable to figure it out, I thought maybe restarting my Mac would help. However, upon logging back into DW, I am now unable to connect to the host server. I get an FTP error notice that the file doesn't exist or there is a permissions problem. Funny thing is, I can connect successfully if I test the connection through the Site Management window.
Has anyone else had this issue and if so, what is the solution? I feel like this is probably a simple fix, but I cannot for the life of me determine what it is! If anyone knows a solution, I'd really appreciate the help!

We are trying to FTP some files, to a remote FTP server using XI.
The required details are configured in FTP receiver channel.
The below error is shown in the FTP receiver channel.

Hi Mohammed,
Check whether your FTP is up and running.
Its quite possible that the number of connections is more than the max connection possible for you FTP. If thats the case, you have to check with your FTD admin to increase the possible connections limit.
Also make sure that you have provided the correct credentials in your file CC.

Does anyone have experience with this issue when connecting to a Linux FTP Web Server running a FTP Site?

I cannot access the root directory of the ftp file server using Web Matrix 3. The site is .php based, and
is accessible when connecting with FileZilla or Remote Connecting via FTP with Visual Studio.
All sites have been deleted from Web Matrix, the user Application Data has been cleared and Web Matrix has been reinstalled.

Turns out that the program leaves metadata in your app data folder that is not removed upon uninstallation of the software.
This is incorporated to communicate with a file that uploaded into the ftp directory when publishing pages.

When I attempt to export/import via FTP for OOTP 11 I get a connectivity error message

I participate in OOTP ver 11 fantasy baseball leagues which uses FTP to export and import league databases. For some reason, I have been unable to import/export using FTP. Each time I attempt to export/import I get a connectivity error message stating "am unable to connect". I have not had this problem with the previous versions of OOTP Fantasy Baseball. Error message ftp-connection to remote host

hi guys,
i have problems with a ftp-connection between a business-service (alsb) and a remote-host.( we used alsb 2.6 rp1)
i pick-up a file per ftp-proxy-service on a remote host. this is possible without problems. then i convert this file and i want to rewrite this file with a ftp-business-service back to the remotehost. but i get this error-message

Open up your site definition (double-click on the site name in the File panel or choose Site > Manage Sites > Edit) and go to the Remote Info category. There, click Use Firewall (if it isn't already selected) - press Test to try the default firewall settings. If that doesn't work, click Firewall Settings. You'll see two relevant settings about 2/3 down - Firewall host and Firewall port. If Firewall port is 21, there probably is something blocking the port.
On Windows XP, you may have the Windows Firewall installed and blocking. Here's how you get to it:
To open Windows Firewall
1.
Click Start and then click Control Panel.
2.
In the control panel, click Windows Security Center.
3.
Click Windows Firewall.
Once you have that open, you'll need to set Dreamweaver as an exception to blocking:
On the Exceptions tab, click Add Program.
In the list of programs, click the name of the program (Dreamweaver) that you want to add, and then click OK. If the name of your program is not in the list of programs, click Browse to locate the Dreamweaver.exe in the Program Files folder and then click OK.

Background scheduling of FTP Connection through R/3

Hello Friends,
I have done FTP connection by using Z-pgm which uses function FTP_CONNECT. This is working fine in Foreground mode.
But in background scheduling of the z-pgm, i am getting the <b>error as 'RFC to program SAPFTP failed'.</b>
I checked RFC destination SAPFTP in SM59. There Activation type is 'Start on Front End Work Station'. I tested the connection also. Its alright.
How to do FTP processing in Background?

you could try to use RFC destination 'SAPFTPA' - it's ftp on the application server. Since SAPFTP is 'Start on Front End Work Station' and in background there is no front end work station, it can't work.

Today I tried to establish a FTP connection to the serveradress "ftp.möbelverwandlung.com", but I get the error message that the program couldn't connect to the host. As Dreamweaver works perfectly with other serveradresses and I managed to establish a connection to "ftp.möbelverwandlung.com" with other programs, I think that the problem is the german "Umlaut" "ö". Did anyone recognize the same problem and does someone know a solution?

ABAP to FTP connect to non SAP UNIX system

Greetings~
I'm looking for a way (via function modules and/or BAPI) to transfer data in flat files from an SAP UNIX system to a non-SAP UNIX system using an ABAP program. I see FM's FTP_CONNECT and FTP_COMMAND however these seem to only work with UNIX systems running SAP as they require RFC_DESTINATION information. Anybody know which (if any) FM's can be used without the necessity of the target system running SAP/RFC?
