Ftp error code -61

I was trying to delete all my files from the ftp server, but when I drag my files to trash, it appears a message says it can't delete, with error code -61. I tried making an empty folder and upload to it in order to delete its content but also failed.
Please help.
I'm on OS x 10.5.8

Wendz,
Please note this thread is for Xserve RAID Discussions and not so much issues with external hard drives. If you type in your error message into the Support Search window, you'll come up with several articles, one of them being: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1618
Not sure if you're working with Mac OS 9 (as this article relates to the issues or errors messages being with Mac OS 9) but at least it might be a start.
Hope this helps. You might want to post your problem with other Discussions pages like *Mac OS X & Related Software* ?

  • Why am I getting an FTP Error code when I try to publish my Website?

    Every time I go to publish my website from iWeb to my Yahoo domain, it completes everything EXCEPT the background part. I end up getting an FTP Server Error Code. I have called Yahoo about the issue and they were not able to help. I have checked my file names for spaces. I have checked my FTP address. I have checked just about everything, this is becoming quite aggravating! Please, someone help?

    Unfortunately, Yahoo is notorious for being less than good at hosting with iWeb sites.
    Perhaps look into changing your web hosting to somewhere like http://www.godaddy.com or http://www.hostexcellence.com.

  • FTP Error Code 425

    All,
    I am trying to access an FTP server from my home computer and am able to logon to the server but get an error message 425 when I do a DIR or LS.
    I have tried Port Range Forwarding and opening all ports after 1024 (see http://support.ipswitch.com/kb/WS-20011106-DM02.htm) with no luck.
    I have even turned off the firewall with no change.
    I am at my wits end and could use some advice... what am I doing wrong??
    Thanks in advance

  • I keep getting error codes when attempting to publish using FTP...

    "The operation cannot be completed because one or more required items cannot be found. (Error code -43)." That pops up before I can enter my FTP password.
    The other one is not popping up right now, but when I finally was able to enter my FTP password, another error code pops up. It was -36. Can't remember the words.
    Please help me. I NEED(ed) to publish this website yesterday! Thank you!

    I got it to come up! The other error code says "The Finder cannot complete the operation because some data in "ftp://[email protected]" could not be read or written. (Error code -36)"
    This is the on that pops up only after I enter the (correct) FTP password.

  • Keep getting an Error Code 403 for trying to connect to FTP server

    I am trying to access a friend of mine's ftp server so I can upload some pictures of a recent event. I keep getting an error code 403 "FORBIDDEN, You do not have permission to access this server". At first I was trying to connect through Safari. Then after a quick google search, I found out I should be connecting through my Finder by selecting GO then Connect to Server. When I did that it says Connection Failed - "They could be a problem with the server or it could be down".
    Now a friend of mine who has a PC told me he was able to access the server and upload his pictures with no problem!
    So why am I getting all these error codes and he was able to access the server? Yes, I was giving permission by the owner of the server to upload my pictures!!!

    In the Finder->Go->Go to Server->this should do the job:
    *ftp://ftp."URL to server"*
    where it's something like: ftp.xyz.yyy.com
    In the Terminal app, all you need to use is:
    *ftp "URL to server"*

  • Dreamweaver 8 bindings - to MySQL, error code 500

    Hello!
    Well, I've spent five days searching online forums, and a few
    posts come close to my problem, but not getting any clues to a
    solution. I hope one of the resident experts or members could shed
    some light...
    Windows XP
    Dreamweaver 8.0.2 (just upgraded - same problem)
    - Used setup-v1.17-apache-2.2.2-win32.exe for setup - from
    devside.net PHP 5.2.0-dev MySQL 4.1.7 (installed new after package.
    Have two instances of mysql on my system - one active, one in
    manual-inactive)
    - All was going well until trying to establish bindings in
    Dreamweaver. PHP is up and running. MySQL loaded, and database
    connection fine. Bindings gets the error... "HTTP Error Code 500
    Internal Server Error"
    Just getting back to it... Again, thank you for your help!
    Dreamweaver 8 has support for PHP 5. Version I'm using is
    5.2.0. MX specifies versions 4.x and above are required. I'll have
    to research if the support cuts off at 5.0.
    My Connections file: conn_newland.php (I'm following the book
    tutorial):
    <?php
    # FileName="Connection_php_mysql.htm"
    # Type="MYSQL"
    # HTTP="true"
    $hostname_conn_newland = "localhost";
    $database_conn_newland = "newland_tours";
    $username_conn_newland = "root";
    $password_conn_newland = "";
    $conn_newland = mysql_pconnect($hostname_conn_newland,
    $username_conn_newland, $password_conn_newland) or
    die(mysql_error());
    $Recordset1 = mysql_query("SHOW variables", $Connection1);
    echo "<table border=1 width=100%>";
    while ($row_Recordset1 = mysql_fetch_assoc($Recordset1)) {
    echo
    "<tr><td>".$row_Recordset1['Variable_name']."</td><td>".$row_Recordset1['Value']."</td></ tr>";
    echo "</table>";
    ?>
    Recordset parameters I entered in bindings:
    Name: rs_journal
    Connection: conn_newland
    Table: tbl_journal
    Columns: Selected - journalID, journal_entry
    Filter: none
    Sort: journalID Descending
    Clicking Test gives: "HTTP Error Code 500 Internal Server
    Error"
    By the way, the reason I didn't specify a password in "root'
    is that I had a problem before that I didn't know enough to
    overcome, so had to reinstall MySQL. However, the same error occurs
    if I specify another user name and password (previously set up).
    7:30 pm -
    Adding to this post...
    I found the following at
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_16515.
    However, it appears it may be referring only to Dreamweaver MX 2004
    on Mac OS X. I have Dreamweaver 8 on Windows XP:
    Verify that the connection scripts are up on the server
    This section is related to the section above. In a web
    browser, browse to the URL prefix you have defined in the Testing
    Server category of the site definition and add
    /_mmServerScripts/MMHTTPDB.php. For example:
    http:/myserver/mysite/_mmServerScripts/MMHTTPDB.php. If things are
    working correctly, you should see something like the following text
    returned in the web browser:
    Notice: Undefined index: Type in
    c:\inetpub\wwwroot\mysite\_mmServerScripts\MMHTTPDB.php on line 13
    Notice: Undefined variable: oConn in
    c:\inetpub\wwwroot\mysite\_mmServerScripts\MMHTTPDB.php on line 20
    When I go to the file above, this is the message I receive
    (only thing that appears):
    The files from the _mmServerScripts folder are for the server
    model PHP-MySQL. You try to connect to a database using a different
    server model . Please remove this folder outside the Dreamweaver
    environment on both local and testing machines and try again.\n
    Is there a hint here of what the problem is? I need some help
    in possible interpretations.
    Previous attempts made to solve:
    - re-installed MySQL with mysql-5.0.24-win32.zip in
    recommended directory (outside the www directory). I now have two
    instances of MySQL on my local server - one set to automatic
    loading and the other manual (switched off)
    - one post suggested problem might be with ODBC - installed
    SQL ODBC with mysql-connector-odbc-3.51.12-win32.msi. However, I
    don't have a clue as to whether it's connected to anything...
    - successfully connected to SQL database through root without
    password and specific logon and password. No difference.
    - other posts suggest problem could reside in php.ini,
    htaccess, my.ini (SQL). I know where to find them, but don't have
    an understanding of what parameters to shift, if any. One post
    suggested a port problem, and I did see a port problem, presently
    set to 3306.
    From what I've been able to gather, this has been recognized
    as an issue before, but there doesn't seem to be any documentation
    online (or at least what I've been able to find) dealing with this.
    And any mention of the problem that I've seen references
    Dreamweaver MX, not 8, although I don't think the version
    difference is a significant issue.
    This error must be relatively rare, or I'd see more out there
    about it. Still, I hope that at least one of the community experts
    may have come across it.
    Will be waiting with bated breath -- at least for a few
    days...
    Thanks!
    Joe

    Hello,
    I have also had the same error - namely that whilst I could connect via ftp, upload/download files, and view database tables, any attempt to view of modify recordsets resulted in error 500.
    Having checked other potential causes (e.g. selection/non-selection use of passive FTP setting, enabling of php, etc.), on the back of posts here I contacted my host and asked if if could relate to mod security, as further investigation revealed that the issue only occurred on sites where mod security had not been disabled (I don't like to disable mod security for obvious reasons - and I'm told you can't do that site by site with apache2 anyway).
    After a few false starts, the problem was resolved - with the following response from my host: "The false positives were being generated by "/_mmServerScripts/MMHTTPDB.php" and that is what we've worked around in the rules. As such, any domain on [servername] using that script in the same way shouldn't generate a false-positive moving forward."
    So it seems the answer (assuming your on an apache server of course) may be to modify the rules to allow full access for MMHTTPDB.php.
    I hope that is of help to some.

  • The Finder can't complete the operation because some data in the file can't be read or written. (Error code -36)

    This has happened twice in one week. I'm 99% it's not the developers' fault, because the first time it happened, it was with Camtasia. They're big to be making mistakes. They even said that they got 100s of other downloads that day that worked. This time it's with Synfig, an animation program. When I download it, nothing happened. When I tried to copy it to applications, it gave me ^that^ error. When this happened with Camtasia, when I tried to mount it to disk, it had an invalid checksum, and it didn't work. They were nice enough to give me a FTP and HTTP download link. It didn't work with HTTP, but FTP worked. (Maybe just luck?) This time, I don't want to ask for a link becasue the person who owns the website has quit or something. The community is still active, but they'll hardly know. Besides, it looks like this is a problem on my end and not theirs. So yeah, Error Code -36. That's an I/O error. Is that a sign of a failing hard drive, or am I having problems while downloading? Please respond. Thanks

    Aint you quick to jump to conslusions? So becasue one thing isn't working of the hundreds of things I donwloaded doesnt work, my drivers are broken?
    Ok then, let me download some other things to make sure
    Minecraft: it worked ✓
    Firefox: it worked✓
    Synthesia: it worked✓
    iExplorer: it worked✓
    Pencil: it worked✓
    Flash: it worked✓
    Synfig was made in 2006, so it's not unlikely that it might not work for some people. By 'some people', I mean me. I was just asking if it was something on my side, but if that's all you got, I think it's highly unlikely that it's my fault. I don't even want it anymore, I got Flash Professional. I was just wondering. I could have sworn you used to write more detailed answers before jumping striaght to conclusions. 'Did this happen to you on anything else?' or maybe even 'Why don't you complain to them?' would have been fine.

    Try this community: MobileMe on my Mac: MobileMe: Apple Support Communities.
    And you can continue to use iWeb for some time to come. The following will explain:
    It's now confirmed that iWeb and iDVD have been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
    On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. HOWEVER, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
    Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    ◼ MobileMe Gallery
    All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
    I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken.  If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.
    There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
    Click to view full size
    However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
    In addition the iLife suite of applications offered on disc is now a discontinued product and the remaining supported iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on.
    HOWEVER, the iLife 11 boxed version that is still currently available at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those copies still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD.

  • I am getting an FTP error message when publishing, it goes okay until it reaches home page.  The home page does not appear correctly.  Any help greatly appreciated

    I have a website using iweb and am having problems publishing.  When I try to publish it appears to be going through then stops at home page and I get an FTP error message.  I talked to my website host and they checked it from their end on two brosers and it is fine.  There suggestion was to contact this support group.  They thought it had something to do with iweb code writing.

    What version of iWeb are you using?  What are you using to upload the site files to your FTP server?
    I talked to my website host and they checked it from their end on two brosers and it is fine
    What did they check?  Have you tried viewing your site that's online to see if the changes went thru?  Before you do so clear your browser's cache (Command+Option+E for Safari) and then load the site.

  • MySQL Connection - Select Database - HTTP Error Code 405 Method Not Allowed?

    We've set up a MySQL database with our host and can connect to that, and create, edit, delete tables using HeidiSQL, without a problem.
    However when we attempt to set up the connection in the Databases tab of our Applications panel in Dreamweaver we receive the following error:
    HTTP Error Code 405 Method Not Allowed
    We have entered the following in the MySQL Connection box:
    Name: <name of our connection>
    Server: <IP address of our database>
    Username: <our database username>
    Password: <our database password>
    Database:
    When we click the "Select" option next to the Database field, that's when we receive the above mentioned error.
    We noticed that there was a fix posted by Adobe at:
    http://www.macromedia.com/support/dreamweaver/ts/documents/err405.htm
    ...but that link is long since dead, however it does seem to indicate that Adobe are/were aware of this issue.
    Can anyone help?  We're trying to move from Classic ASP / MSSQL to PHP / MySQL but have hit a barrier right from the off, which isn't very encouraging.  Hope someone can ease our concerns with PHP and MySQL.
    Much appreciated.

    Thank you SnakEyez02.
    I had the Testing Server set to Local/Network but didn't have MySQL installed locally.  Changed that setting to FTP and it picked up on the database correctly.
    When using MSSQL it doesn't matter whether you choose Local/Network or FTP it just picks up the online database regardless.  I guess this must just be a difference between it and MySQL.
    Thanks for the advice.  Much appreciated.

  • FTP Error: 550 Arguments too long

    I am getting "550 Arguments too long" error code with message while try to FTP list the files from solaris 9 by using NetComponents.jar. (remote folder has more than 16000 files) But I am able to FTP list greater than 30000 files properly from solaris 8. Does anyone have seen a similar problem?

    Hello,
    I have the same problem. I connect to FTP server (Version wu-2.6.2+Sun) on SunOS 5.9. There is already patch 114564-09 installed. I try type "ls <directory>" command, where directory includes about 20 thousand files and FTP server returns: "550 Arguments too long".
    When I try "ls /directory2" command, where directory2 is empty, FTP server returns:
    550 /directory2/*: No such file or directory.
    This behaviour is same as behaviour of unix "ls" command, if I had type "ls /directory2/*" in the command line on the empty directory and on the directory with too many files.
    My conclusion: FTP server on SunOS have a new bug. It takes file list with "ls" command and appends to directory name "*" (asterisk).
    Can anybody help me? Is there some patch to solve this problem?

  • MacOS Error Code: -61

    I am running Snow Leopard on a Leopard network. When I access a share through the network and try to edit a file I'm getting the error message, "An attempt to write to this volume failed (MacOS Error code: -61)
    Other Macs running Leopard on the network are having permissions problems as well. So, I'm not sure that it's just a Snow Leopard issue.
    Our network admin has us connecting through FTP instead of AFP and that seems to be working, but, I find it strange that you can't have a internal network of macs.
    Has anyone else run into this problem? If so, how did you fix it?

    Using screen sharing I logged into the shared computer and navigated to the file I want to edit. I got info and changed the permissions to Read & Write for "everyone".
    Then with the finder on my computer navigated to the file opened it and edited it. When I tried to save it I got the same error (-61).
    I am using OS 10.6.2
    The computer hosting the share is using OS 10.5.7
    Also the shared computer is a PowerPC G5 while mine is a Intel MacBook Pro
