FTP error- really struggling to solve, please help!? :)

Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone will be able to help me...
I am follwoing a tutorial to build my first site with Dreamweaver CS4. I am completely new to this! All was going well until the early hours of this morning. I bought a hosting package with 123.reg to get me started and downloaded filezilla as they recommend. However,from the site management/edit screen when I go to test I get the following error " An FTP error occurred-cannot open remote folder public_html/. Access denied. The file may not exist, or there could be a permission problem." I have checked and checked again, all info is entered correctly. 123.reg initially said the permissions were wrong and they have now changed them. They said they can see no problems from their end and it should work. Just out of interest I changed host name from the 'number code' to my domain name (both were options in my welcome hosting email, and this generated a really long error message saying the FTP server might be down etc etc

This means there is indeed some problem with your server.

Really Struggling!! Please Help!!!

I have just recently bought a mac and Final Cut Studio and just don't seem to be having any luck with it!!
My camcorder shoots in MP2 format, so I downloaded HandBrake to convert it into MP4. Whenever I try and import my converted MP4 to Final Cut Studio, it just says "File Error: 1 file(s) recognised, 0 access denied, 1 unknown"
Can anybody help with suggestions?! lol! Thank you in advance!!

Your first line was "I have just purchased a Mac and FCS and am having no luck at all". It has nothing to do with luck. It has to do with finding the right tool for the job and then learning how to use. Trust me, I use this forum and Creative Cow quite often after I have tried to work through the problem and the experts here are very helpful.
If you can get your clip into iMovie why not use that? It is a very powerful program. You can also easily use iTunes with iMovie to import music. If your clip is going to be used for your personal use or among your friends you won't have a problem. If you are going to post it anywhere or use it for business purposes I would not. I actually got caught by the record company posting "California Dreamin'" for a students video on You Tube. They said they would keep it on because it had "social value" but in case you were wondering if they check...they do.

Your specs say OS X 10.6.8 which would be iChat 5.x.x in Snow Leopard.
This version by default tries to login in to the AIM server called login.oscar.aol.com on port 5190 using the TCP protocol.
An internet connection is made up of 65535 of these so called ports (more like TV stations)
Most routers have ports up to port 1024 which means some of the iChat Login Ports are above this.
Two ways to Solve this.
1) Change the Login port iChat uses
2) Change the way the router opens ports.
For 1) go to iChat Menu > Preferences > Accounts
Highlight/select the AIM account.
In the Info Tab deselect the "Enable this Account" to make sure you are Logged out.
In the Server Settings change the Port to 443
You can decide not to use SSL as well if you wish (the server name automatically loses the leading "s")
For 2) log in to the routers set up pages and make sure it is doing UPnP
This allows the computers to tell the router which ports to open. It also allows multiple devices to use the same ports.
For iChat this allows it to Screen Share as this happens on an unlisted random port.
Opps forgot a couple of things.
If you are using an APple ID registed at Apple ending in @mac.com @me.com or @iCloud.com then the passowrd at Apple has to be 16 characters or less to work with the AIM servers.
Additionally the iCloud issued @me.com and @iCloud.com one require you to use iChat 6 in Lion or Messages in Mountian Lion due to changes Apple made to the security of letting AIM "read" the passwords.

Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried, until the problem is resolved.
Step 1
Restart the router. Many problems are solved that way.
Step 2
Change the name of the wireless network, if applicable, to eliminate any characters other than letters and digits. You do that on your router via its web page, if it's not an Apple device, or via AirPort Utility, if it is an Apple device.
Step 3
From the menu bar, select
 ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Network
Click the Assist me button and select Assistant. Follow the prompts.
Step 4
Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Enter the name of your wireless network in the search box. You should have one or more "AirPort network password" items with that name. Make a note of the name and password, then delete all the items. Quit Keychain Access. Turn Wi-Fi off and then back on. Reconnect to the network.

You may need to change other settings on the router. See the guidelines linked below:

Make a note of all your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane, then delete the connection from the connection list and recreate it with the same settings. You do this by clicking the plus-sign icon below the connection list, and selecting Wi-Fi as the interface in the sheet that opens. Select Join other network from the Network Name menu, then select your network. Enter the password when prompted and save it in the keychain.

I am getting the same message when I try to install the latest version of iTunes, I am running on Windows Vista Home Premium. I have tried so many different things to try to correct this and have now completly unistalled it from my laptop..... Now I have no iTunes what-so-ever on it and still can't install it. I found an older versin of iTunes and it installed without any problems, but I can't access it because my library was created on a newer version! Talk about frustrated..... WE NEED HELP!!!!!

By Toolbar, do you mean the Dock? The Translucent bar normally at the bottom of the screen, but sometimes at the right or left side?
If that's what you mean, the Dock is merely a shortcut to what is already inside the Applications folder's Microsoft Office 2011 folder. If you have Word inside your Microsoft Office 2011 folder, you can drag it back to the Dock.
If you deleted the Microsoft Office folder, or it is empty, you'll have to reinstall it.
If you don't have your registration code, you'll have to call Microsoft for a new one.
