FTP failure in CS 5.5

I have been updating one of my sites on and off all day. Suddenly I started getting error messages that the server was not responding.
The remote files were all visible in my remote screen, but it had become impossible to ftp any files. When I checked the site info, I found that the FTP address, Username, password and root directory fields were all blank.
This applies to about 8 sites. It did not happen all at once, as sometimes the files transferred successfully.
Has this happened to anyone else?

I've never seen that happen, but it sounds like something is corrupting the site defintions. Here's what I would do...
1. From the Files tab menu, choose Site > Recreate Site Cache, then check if the ftp info is actually gone, if it is...
2. Run any and all anti-virus/anti-malware software you have and kill any bugs you find.
3. Go through the process of clearing the DW cache file and config folder: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/494811
4. Build new Site Defintions in DW from existing content and delete the old ones.
5. If it still happens after that, a full un-install and reinstall of DW

  • FTP Failure: Lots of TCP Retransmission & Duplicate ACK

    Hi Friends,
I am having some serious problem with FTP transfer between 2 sites. When ever trying to send files more than 10 15 Mb its failing or less files receiving.
I put a sniffer into one of access switch between and capture some data. I can see a lot of retransmissions and DUP ACK happening.
    Capture File :- https://www.cloudshark.org/captures/03975d64a70e
Can some expert on packet capture help me understand this :-
    1. Everything was fine till Line-69 i.e the ACK send from receiver(10.21.1.58) to server(10.29.1.199).
    2. On Line-70 Server send a packet with SEQ-42901.
    3. Next the receiver replies it with ACK-44201.
    4. The server notice that the previous SEQ-42901 is not ACK, so it mentioned it as lost frame.
    5. On the exact next trasmit the server directly move to a SEQ-78145 WHY ???...
    6. Next there are 12 DUP-ACK on ACK-44201 from client to server and then there is a FAST Retransmision from server for that segment.
    7. And further a lot of similar problems through out the capture, which is the cause of failure.
Can someone help me understanding the cause of this.

    Hello,
Did you find a solution to your problem ?
I am facing a similar situation and I cannot find the root cause.
    Thank you

  • Adobe products (Dreamweaver CS 3 and CS4) and FTP failures in Snow Leopard

Hi all, this is a bit of a cross post, sorry, but I wanted to be a bit more precise about the nature of a problem many folks are voicing. That is, Dreamweaver and Adobe products are trouble it seems, particularly around the FTP function (there are other issues too). Yet it does not affect machines universally.
For instance, initially after the Snow Leopard update CS3 (Dreamwearver) worked fine, the for me poof the FTP client in Dreamweaver failed with the ubiquitous Permissions error.
    On line forums suggest:
    1) recreating all Dreamweaver accounts with ==> various reports of success.
    2) Using a direct IP address to the server in question....==> also mixed results.
    3) Reinstall CSx--==> not a fix.
So for those of us tearing hair out over the problem, Adobe itself has been no help, anyone find a patch or have an untried idea?
    thanks.

    See if this helps:

  • CS6 FTP failure

I am experiencing multiple problems with CS6 FTP. I am using Mac OS X (Lion) and I have applied the DW CS6 12.0.1 updater. Still cannot put and have the permissions on the file be anything other than 0. I have to change the permissions on the file manually to 644. I cannot overwrite a file on the remote server after editing. I have to delete the old file, upload the edited file and then manually change the permissions. This occurs with all file types - html, pdf, JPEG and Gif. Sometimes, if I completely close Dreamweaver and start with another site, the first file I put will be ok, but everything after that one is a problem.  I have several sites on mainehost.com and bluehost.com. Mainehost.com uses Pure-FTPd [privsep] [TLS]. Bluehost uses Pure-FTPd [privsep] [TLS]. Also experiencing same problems with an Intranet server using WS_FTP Server 7.5(53268144). This problem occurs whether I put from the edit window after saving or from the Files window. I have no confidence in CS6 and have gone back to CS5.5. Please take this problem seriously!

However, people here don't like me saying Windows hasn't got such probelms.
    This is complete nonsense.
Never seen anybody posting FTP problems  on their windows system though I expect these to flood in now that I have mentioned it.
DW's FTP has gotten its share of gripes both from Windows and Mac users.  I can't say that I've seen a serious platform imbalance over time, although there has definitely been a spate of complaints from Mac users in CS6.  I use DW routinely on PCs and occasionally on Macs and can say that since DW2, I've not felt the need to switch to a 3rd-party FTP program, nor have I experienced any of the current problems on Macs with CS6, so as far as I can see there are still too many variables involved to lay those problems on DW.  I have a strong suspicion, though, that Mountain Lion is involved....

Seems like issue in FTP command, see below
    copy disk ftp 166.38.50.249 C:\ Columbus_WAAS.pcap JimsTest1_000$
here is how it should be
copy disk ftp 166.38.50.249 (FTP_Folder_on_FTP_Server) (Filename on remote FTP server) (Local filename)
So if FTP server folder is the root of FTP server then simply define "/" See below example

  • FTP error 426 with Windows IIS server

    Dear SAP,
We are experiencing an issue between SAP PI 7.0 SP15 on P-Series AIX IBM Server and the Windows IIS FTP server. The interface in PI does connect to 3 systems with the FTP file adapter (a Mainframe, an AS400 and a Windows IIS FTP server). The mainframe and the AS400 connection are working fine but for the IIS we are getting a FTP failure in 90% of the transfers in 10% it works. With other clients (also one based on JFTP) everything works fine with the IIS server. The files are only 2kb and not to large as described in the File Adapter FAQ note.
There where tests with active (FTP failure 500) and passive connections, the timeout value was increased on both sides. The connection bandwidth reached never more than 40% and there were always enough CPU processes available on both sides.
Following technical details for the passive connection failure:

  • I have to turn off Firewall to send files to ftp server

My ISP changed to a different server, since when I have had to turn off the firewall on my Mac 10.4.8 if I want to connect to it to upload or download files.
If the Firewall is on, Transmit (my ftp program) seems to be able to log in, but the list of files doesn't appear. The staus reads as 'status: retrieving list of files'. When I turn off the Firewall, the list of files appears.
Have 'passive mode' on or off makes no difference.
    Any thoughts gratefully received.
    Kind regards
    Richard

Have you asked your ISP what changes you might be required to make?
They changed something required to login. Why is this a "mac" issue?
When you have Firewall turned on, and try an upload...you can examine the logs to see what kind of things are logged during this apparent FTP failure.
OK, Have you tried another FTP client? (CyberDuck, Fetch, etc)
Have you tried using Terminal to do a manual FTP (and do away with the silly GUI's?)
    Enable firewall
    open Terminal.
    type ftp<enter>
type open [name/IP of your server location]<enter>
    you'll be asked for authientication...login...
    type ls<enter> {that's an ell, and an ess}
Any results? (type quit<enter> to end your FTP session

Would it be best to use ftp or nfs? I have tried both, but both have failed.
What are the possible causes of the ftp failure? Is more information needed? Any suggestions as to how to handle this? Maybe there's a how-to available?

  • Unable to upgrade WLC on SRE to 7.4.121.0

    Hi
I am unable to upgrade one of my WLC on SRE to 7.4.121.0.  I keep getting TFTP or FTP failure while storing in flash.  The WLC is currently running 7.2.110.0 and is running on a SRE 700 module in a 2951 router.
I have tried with both TFTP and FTP and I have redownloaded the file from Cisco.  I am using tftpd32 on Windows XP and it is allowed from the firewall.  When I perform the transfer it shows in the TFTPd32 log as successful.
Could someone please suggest how I can get this to work please?

Now before anyone points out the obvious: my username and password are correct. I've already gone through changing them so I know they are.
Additionally, I've pretty much tried EVERYTHING I've read online, from messing with "terminal" (and subsequently the FTP and STFP options) to changing the sharing options and turning on file sharing/remote management as well as just turning off my Firewall completely.
Now I've used Filezilla before when I first published my site and everything worked fine. My site is published through Wordpress so most of my editing was done through simply logging into my "wp-login." I recently changed the theme and in order to change the header image in that theme I have to do it through my "wp-content" folder, which means I need to use Filezilla. I feel like a complete moron right now considering I've had my site for about a year and can't even doing something this simple.
I've read that the newer version of Lion/Mountain Lion don't support automatice FTP anymore, which (as I mentioned prior) I attempted to fix through Terminal. However, nothing I do seem to do works.
Can someone walk me through fixing this? And I do mean 'walk me through'. I'm not a tech-savvy nerd who knows all the lingo, I just know the basics so sorry if my ignorance offends you.
    HELP!!

First be sure login and password are OK. Sometimes the address starts wit "http://..." and sometime starts with "ftp://...". Try both normal FTP access and Scure FTP access (SFTP). At the end, contact the site's provider.

  • Web Matrix FTP Remote Connection Error - "Connection Error - Failure to get file list from server. An entry with the same key already exists."

Does anyone have experience with this issue when connecting to a Linux FTP Web Server running a FTP Site?
"Connection Error - Failure to get file list from server. An entry with the same key already exists."
I cannot access the root directory of the ftp file server using Web Matrix 3. The site is .php based, and
is accessible when connecting with FileZilla or Remote Connecting via FTP with Visual Studio.
All sites have been deleted from Web Matrix, the user Application Data has been cleared and Web Matrix has been reinstalled.
    Issue Persists....
    Thanks in advance,
    Justin

Turns out that the program leaves metadata in your app data folder that is not removed upon uninstallation of the software.
This is incorporated to communicate with a file that uploaded into the ftp directory when publishing pages.

  • Error when using FTP in iWeb 09! "Error 500: Script Execution Failure"

  • Block IP with OS X's FTP server after number of failures?

Sarah from my bbs.bdaqua.net posted this question and info...
"Every few days I get someone spamming my FTP server trying to log in with random names (stephen, steven, teo, stefany, Administrator, etc). Since it's different names (of accounts that don't exist of course), and different addresses attempting it, is there any way I can make it automatically block access from a certain IP after a few bad attempts in the same day?"
"All from very different IPs, possibly spoofed."
    Any suggestions/help?

    You need to configure
    /etc/hosts.allow
    and
    /etc/hosts.deny
Putting this text into hosts.deny will block all logins on all services:
    ALL:ALL
    # file MUST include final lineending!
As you can see, the last line must contain a lineending or the file will be unparseable.
Then, you add text to hosts.allow to specifically allow certain IP addresses, hostnames or usernames:
    ALL : localhost
    ALL : 127.0.0.1
    ALL : 192.168.
    ALL : .qwest.net
    sshd : .comcast.net
    # RCN New York:
    ftpd : 207.237.
Notice that the last line allows me to login to FTP from any IP address if my ISP is RCN New York. The first 3 lines allow me to login to all services from the localnet or Qwest.
As to your specific question, there are scripts you can run to examine the secure.log for repeated failures which then add the relevant lines to hosts.deny, but for the normal server that is a little drastic.

  • Intermittent FTP transport method failure

I am receiving an intermittent failure on the R/3 DataFLow transport using FTP to a Linux job server.  The file is terminated prematurely, and the job then fails.  When re-executing the job for the same time interval (assuming that the same data is in the transport file), the job runs successfully.
What are the switches on the FTP request initiated by the job server?
Could this be due to a FTP server setting on the SAP host?
Could concurrent parallel FTP requests for transport files be causing this (the job runs DF's in parallel)?
    Thanks for any response...   -rs-

    Hi Vinod,
Did you find a way to make it work ?
We have the same issue here...
    Server #1 - Unix ECC
    Server #2 - FTP Server
Server #3 - DataService server.  (WINDOWS)
The .dat file are created on ECC server in the working directory, and a third party tool detect that directory content change and start upload the file to the FTP server.
The problem is when ECC server is done creating the .dat, I think it send the answer to DataService that the job is done.  Then DS try to go to the FTP but the file is not there yet...
Can ECC do the FTP upload and then send the command to DS tha the job is done ?
    Best regards,
    David
