FTP host updating

I have been using MUSE for a few months. I've recently tried to update my website by doing what I did before which is going through the ...upload through FTP host...    but when it's done my "updated" website shows none of the changes. Help?

Hi Mica,
Please try clearing the browser cache or try in a new browser.

  • Since updating to the new version, I can no longer upload to FTP host without Muse crashing

I updated to the latest version of Adobe Muse. Since then, I've had this horrible error when trying to upload to my ftp host. All I have done is hidden a page from the main menu, no other changes have been made.
I am using the only modified files option.
I get the error: 2007 - Paramater file must be non-null.
I can see that the file causing the issue is a png file - which is a grey line that I created using adobe muse, I can see that this file is already on the website already, with the file name.
Help?! I'm not sure what I can do to make this work again. I have tried adding the image to muse from the server - with the same file name that causes the errors, but nothing changed, the same error appeared.

    Hi
Are you still facing the same error ? If yes, are you getting this error everytime you are trying to export ?
    Please try again and check.
This is basically a compilation error , where files are not converted into proper format correctly.
    Thanks,
    Sanjit

  • Updates won't upload to FTP host

    Hi,
I have a live website already and just want to add some updates to it, but every time I go to upload to ftp host, it goes through the process of uploading everything (the box with the blue bar) but when the website loads after the upload is finished, my updates don't show - the website is exactly as it was previously, without the new information.
What am I doing wrong and what do I need to do to get the new information to upload?
The domain is hosted by godaddy.com if that helps.
Thanks in advance for your help!

This generally indicates the upload is to the incorrect location on the server or the files were modified using an external tool and now the built-in FTP upload is being used and it's unaware of those changes.
Are you using the built-in File > Upload to FTP Host... feature within Muse? If so, and if you're using one of the most common low cost plans from GoDaddy, then the "Host directory" should be "public_html" if it isn't, then the files will be uploaded to the wrong location on the server.
If you've ever used a tool other than the built-in upload feature to alter what files are on the server, and you're now attempting to use the built-in upload, you need to set "Upload: All Files" in order for Muse to fully upload your site. After that's been done once, Muse will revert to only uploaded altered files.

  • Upload to ftp host stopped working since last Muse update

Since the last update of Muse (CC 2014.3) I'm unable to configure the ftp access in 'upload to ftp host'. It gives me an error notification (as if the user or password are incorrect) and therefore doesn't connect. The server client to which I'm trying to connect immediately blocks my ip address (they say it's because their firewall detects that my ip address is trying to connect to their server using a TCP forbidden door (990). Can someone please help me with this? I've already tried configuring the same ftp connection in dreamweaver, using exactly the same host, user and password and it works fine. Can someone please help me understand what's happening?

    Hi Zak,
I'm from Portugal, the hosting provider is Hocnet (www.hocnet.pt). Do you need to know my ftp connection user and password for testing?
I contacted Hocnet earlier today because when I attempted to do the configuration of the 'connect to ftp host' in Muse, suddenly all that is dependent of their server (the access to my website www.luiscovas.com, the e-mails associated with my luiscovas.com account and the ftp accesses) became unavailable, and my browser displayed the message I attach in this message (it says 'Conection blocked for security reasons'). After an hour, my ip was finally unblocked, but until then I couldn't receive or send emails, and I couldn't access my site and the hosting provider through ftp. They told me that their firewall detected that my ip was trying to connect to their server using a TCP forbidden door (990), and so it automatically blocked it.
Please let me know if you need more information to run the tests.
    Thanks for your help,
    Luís Covas

  • Site won't publish updates to FTP host after initial successful publish

    Hi,
I am having trouble publishing updates to my site.  The site is live through an FTP Host and worked successfully the first time. However, when I go in to make changes to the site and click 'Publish to FTP Host' 'All Files', those changes don't take affect on the live site.  I have also cleared my cache and am still having the issue.

What do you have in Host directory? Keep it blank and re-publish. The Host directory (folder) on the host server is where your site files will be uploaded. Some hosting providers require you to upload your site to a specific folder on their server and others advise you to leave this field blank.
If the above doesn't help either, please reach out to Muse chat support - http://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html?product=muse&topic=signing-in-to-my-account.
    Thanks,

  • Updated to Muse CC 2014 and lost all my "Upload to FTP Host" settings. What gives?

Is there a way to preserve the "Upload to FTP Host" settings as we upgrade from version to version? This is a problem from a workflow [and patience!] perspective.

I have the same issue and same error in Muse 2014.2. I can ftp with FileZilla to the same account and I have tried just about every possible ftp setting. I host at GoDaddy. I really need to get this working so that I can use in browser editing with my client. Please help.
I continually get the error, "Could not sign you in..." despite the login being valid. If you keep hitting resume it will eventually, after many clicks, succeed.
I just got off the phone with GoDaddy. They insist that the issue is with Muse after confirming that ftp works fine with other clients, which it does. Their only suggestion was to perhaps adjust a timeout in Muse.
The old hotfix that is now a dead link, would that be helpful?
I'm stuck. My client wants in browser editing, so I need ftp in Muse for that to work. GoDaddy has been a good hosting provider despite their indifference in this case. I am trying to escalate this within GoDaddy, but I won't hold my breath. Honestly, it has to be something specific to Muse or the other ftp clients wouldn't work. I can use FileZilla or ForkLift, but that isn't a solution that gets me in browser editing. It just points the problem at Muse.
    Any ideas?

  • Cannot get "Upload to FTP Host" to work.

I have been searching this problem literally all night long, have tried so many combinations of things that now I think there is so much mess uploaded to my site with accidentally creating folder after folder after folder that I no longer have any idea what to do.
I purchased a domain on GoDaddy last year, and have just signed up for DreamHost for hosting. The domain is still registered to GoDaddy, and this is one potential cause of the issue because I'm not sure that I entered the primary, secondary, tertiary name server information from DreamHost in the correct spot with GoDaddy.
However, for a moment there when I went to my domain, (amandaasher.com), there was a placeholder there from DreamHost so that has to be a good sign.
I suppose my first question would have to be how the heck do I clear all of the B.S. that I have uploaded to my host over the last 12 hours of sitting here trying to figure it out? I went in using FileZilla and tried to delete everything, but there was one folder that wouldn't delete and I feel like I need to just start over at this point.
Second question is how to actually use this "Upload to FTP Host."
And please, if someone directs me to this article:
Adobe Muse Help | Uploading an Adobe Muse Site to a third-party hosting service
I will scream. I've come back to that thing like 294832 times over the last 12 hours and it has. not. helped.
The first page goes smoothly. I'm able to connect just fine, and the credentials are checking out.
The second page is where sh** hits the fan. Site URL seems obvious enough, but I have no idea what to enter in the "Folder on Server" box.
To be clear, in the time I've been trying to figure this out, I have tried many many things in both of these boxes. I have tried in the Site URL box, amandaasher.com with and without www.
And for the Folder on Server. At first I took this quote from the above mentioned article literally "Folder is the web directory as provided by the hosting provider. This field may be pre-filled; if it does not match the information from your hosting provider, make sure to update it."
Well, it wasn't pre-filled for me. So I looked on my hosting provider's site and saw this:
It literally says "web directory", and looks folder-ish, so I entered that in. However, I'm unclear as to whether they intend for me to substitute "username" for my actual username, or to leave the word username?? So I tried it both ways. I also tried both the top "web directory" (with both my username and the word username) and the "logs directory" (still no idea what I'm doing)
None of these worked, so I tried some of the examples I was able to find online. It seemed the most common thing people were using was "public_html", but also "www" and "httpdocs"
I tried all of these things in combination with all of these other things.
As you can imagine, I was prompted many many times by Adobe Muse that these folders did not exist, so did I want to create them? I said yes. There were many many folders by the time I was done and still nothing showed up on my webpage.
All of these exported completely but they did give me a warning at the end that there was an "unexpected html response to the php query" or something like that (I didn't think to get a screen shot of that, and I'm no longer receiving that message). What does this mean and how do I fix it?
I'm not getting that error any longer, but now (ever since I went in with FileZilla and tried to delete a bunch of stuff) I get stuck in a loop when I try to submit the Upload to FTP Host form, it says:
Seriously, I really think I messed up. I really just want to start over, but I need to know how to do it correctly, obviously. How do I give myself a blank slate to work with??
Sorry, I'm completely new at this and am freaking out.

Ended up figuring it out but not sure how to delete this.
For anyone else with this issue, the correct Folder on Server for DreamHost was my URL without www and with a / after:  amandaasher.com/
    Problem solved.

  • Cannot upload to ftp host from Muse

    Win 7, Muse v 2014.1.1.6
I want to "upload to ftp host" from Muse so client can edit in browser. I'm using the same login info that I use with Filezilla. This message appears "Could not validate that the specified domain is associated with the FTP server and folder. Proceed anyway?" I click yes, progress bar shows files uploading but Adobe® Muse™ CC In-Browser Editing says "This Muse site was not exported using the Upload to FTP Host command. Please use the Upload to FTP Host command to publish the site, and then try again."
When I try to add the folder web files actually reside in, (/httpdocs) Muse says "This folder does not exist. Create it?" I select NO being afraid of goofing up the site.
Client wants to be able to update text on Lots.
    Any suggestions?

Correct. Putting a slash in front of the folder indicates an absolute path, so we try and create a folder named "httpdocs" in the root folder of your FTP server - not what you want in this case. Removing the slash indicates a relative path - we look for the "httpdocs" folder in the working directory (the directory you are in when you first log in, probably something like '/public_html' or '/www'), and so finds your pre-existing folder.

  • Unable to 'Upload to FTP Host' in Muse 2014

    Hi there,
I have recently installed the new Muse 2014 release. I have gone to update a site and publish via the FTP. The 'Upload to FTP Host' button has changed with the upgrade and only requires Server & User names and the password, I entered this and received a Access Denied : 530 error (fig 1). I contacted the web host and my details haven't changed. I jumped into Muse 7.0 made an update to the site and published via the FTP route as per usual and it uploaded fine (fig 2).
Has something changed that I have missed? any help would be appreciated.
    Fig. 1
    Fig. 2

Please download the file http://muse.adobe.com/assets/ftp2014fix.zip, unzip it, and save the contained file ftpPrefs.xml to the following location:
On Windows: %appdata%\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Muse CC\2014.0 (You can type this in the Path bar at the top of the Windows Explorer window)
On Mac: ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Adobe Muse CC/2014.0 (You can type this in the Go To Folder dialog using Shift+Command+G)
Muse uses FTP Extended Passive Mode (EPSV). It's the preferred mode for optimal performance, but we're finding some hosting providers have FTP servers configured such that EPSV is not supported or EPSV only works if you're inside the same firewall as the FTP server. The ftpPrefs.xml file above, turns off EPSV mode. So if that is the problem in this case, putting that file in place should enable you to successfully login and upload without errors.

  • Problems uploading via FTP-host

I have very often (most of the time actually) problems uploading a website via the FTP-host. Changes I made are often not uploaded etc. Is this a common problem or am I the only one?

Please provide more details as what exactly is not updating while ftp upload process , is it any text , image etc ? does this happens with a specific page or any page ? The changes should get update once you upload the files to same location , unless there is any sync issue with server.

  • Upload to a ftp host freezes muse CC (2014)

I opened my website that I created with muse cc in Muse CC (2014)
I went to upload it to my webhosting server and Muse CC (2014) froze and stopped working.
It would connect to the ftp server, but that all, not sure whether or not it an issue with the hosting server or with Muse CC (2014).
It uploads fine to business.catalyst, however the browser shows title smaller than the actually size, when previewed.
Can anyone offer any suggestions to fix this issue.
I have two hosted accounts, one with a domain name, and the other hasnt.  Before the update to Muse CC (2014) the upload to ftp host work fine, with no issues.
Now I can connect to the ftp servers, they reach about 63% upload completion then it freezes and hangs on both webhosting accounts.
My webhosting accounts are with freehostingnoads.net

    Webhosting details.
    ftp address is: ftp.thdawkinsphotography.com
    ftp ip: 31.170.166.74 port 21
    Domain Name is: www.thdawkinsphotography.com
    web address is: www.thdawkinsphotography.com
    Folder upload is Public_html.
I have tried to several times I get different results.
It will either hang on uploading files, or connecting to ftp server.
I tried to upload to ftp host, using all files, but it hang at 64% completion when uploading a image called blank.gif. Had a look at my directory and I noticed that there are two muse files there. Would that be a cause the issue.

I had cancelled my hosting account and created a new account with freehostingnoads.com. I set up my domain name to that account as well. Does it matter what system the hosting server is on.  I am using windows OS, and the hosting server is a linux OS.
I am still having alot of trouble getting Muse CC (2014) to connect to the ftp server, with the new webhosting account.  Is there a way to revert my site back to Muse CC.  As I am not that empressed with Muse CC (2014) due to the uploading to ftp host functionality no longer functions like in Muse CC.
Also on a side note, I have launched my site on BC, however the Main Title on the Master Pages is not displaying the way it should.  My title is 418x102 pixels, in size, however BC displays it in the web browser as much smaller.  BC stand for Business Catalyst.
I was expecting big things from Muse CC (2014) after watching youtube videos that show how great the program is, but they all used Macs, and not Windows.
I would really appreciate it if someone could assist me in resolving this issue please.

  • Error creating folder /scripts and /css with 'upload to ftp host'

We have had a website designed for us, although I personally would like to update the website as and when needed.
During the upload to the ftp host at 82% an error message appears regarding the creation of folder /scripts and after pressing resume, another reading /css.
Once finished the live site is a complete mess. If someone can help expalin simply what is going on and how i can fix this problem.
    Thanks

  • Can anyone confirm that "upload to ftp host" with "only modified files" works as designed?

It seems to take a really long time to verify existing files on the host. I have found it more productive to ignore this function and use a dedicated ftp client to upload/update Muse-created sites.

I have found that "upload to FTP host" often uploads the entire site, seemingly ignoring the "only modified files" setting. This is not invariably the case, but seems to happen more than it should.

  • The latest changes to the function to "Upload to FTP host" has rendered this useless - no point using a program like Muse if I can not easily and automatically upload the work to the webserver!

The latest changes to the function to "Upload to FTP Host" has rendered this useless - no point using a program like Muse if I can not easily and automatically upload the work to the webserver!  I use BlueHost webhosting that has a primary domain and I have several domains with that account (as sub-domains or folders on this server) - with past versions of Muse when uploading pages it simply opened an alert window to tell me (what I already know) that the website I was uploading does not point to the primary domain BUT NOW Muse tries to create a new separate folder in the root directory of the primary domain - completely ignoring the directory path I am giving it - useless!  Why make these senseless changes to the program - and so often - very frustrating it is like amateur ware!.

    Hi Stephen,
There are some issues with the upload to ftp via Muse, which the engineering team is aware of and those will be fixed in a future build of Muse. At this point the work around would be to export the html from Muse and then upload via some third party ftp client like filezilla.
I will recommend that you keep an eye on our release notes page to get more updates on it - Release notes | Adobe Muse CC

  • Problem with using new Upload to FTP Host feature...

I tried using the "Upload to FTP Host" feature to upload to GoDaddy.com. It worked fine the first time but now I get this message:
    Error:
Error creating folder //images. Click Resume to try again. If this problem persists, try again later.
I tried a few times and even waited two days but I am still getting the same message. So I tried to "Export as HTML" liked I used to do and now for some reason it will not create a CSS or Scripts folder. Only an images folder.
Also, the first time the "Upload to FTP Host" worked for some reason not all the images were there and the transition box I have is not fading smoothly from one image to the next.
    Please help!!!
    Thanks,
    Melissa

The issue looks like it might be related to a known issue with our FTP upload client. We currently incorrectly assume the server is configured to use / as the root direcotry. We have a fix for the issue, that will be released in an upcoming update (likely to be sooner rather than later). The workaround for it is actually pretty simple though. If you login to your FTP server, you should be able to see what directory you are at, and you can use the full path there to upload successfully.
For example, if you login using a different FTP client, you might see something like /home/users/myuser/ in the address bar. In Muse, in the directory location, if you place /home/users/myuser you will upload to the correct directory. If you want to upload to a specific directory, simply add that to the end of the directory path.
If you are unable to upload after following the above steps, as Abhishek says, it is likely a permissions error. Try exporting first and using a third party client to upload it and let us know if you are able to do so successfully from there.
