FTP Host & user names?

I just bought Fetch because I need to download some photos via FTP from a remote server. The software needs to know my hostname and user name. I use Mobile Me. What should I enter as the hostname? Is the user name just my name or is it also in the form of a web address? I'm stuck! Thanks for any help.

Firstly, you did not need to buy Fetch - if you had looked around on the internet you would have seen that you could get Cyberduck or Transmit and download them both for free - I would say that these are probably better than Fetch anyway. Don't pay for them unless you need to.
Also, what remote server are you talking about? MobileMe is not a remote server and if you have MobileMe all you need to do is log into your account and go to your iDisk and you can retrieve any photos that you need from there by opening the file on your iDisk directly, you don't need Fetch to do this.
If you are really talking about a remote server then the details you need to enter in Fetch are those server details to connect with it - which hosting company is it with? You need to contact the hosting company to get those details or talk to the person who owns the remote server and get those details from them.
For MobileMe - your own account you don't need Fetch anyway, so you might just have wasted your money!

  • Host user name

    Hello, it's posible to know what is the host username connected to SAP?
    SM04 has information of the client host address but not of the operating system user.
    Thanks

    > No, actuallly it's not.
    Yes it is.
    Sri's "contribution" here is easily confusing because she is posting the wrong information to the wrong thread and then cross-link-farming them as nested reference indexes for the rest of the internet...
    The link to the other thread refers to SU01 exits for the naming convention of the ABAP user ID (SU01). Sri then hijacked the other thread with irrelevant information about SUSR0001 (the logon user exit <-- also irrelevant).
    It is only in this thread where information about SUSR0001 is relevant, but Sri still managed to mention SAP Note 367660 in it now (also irrelevant) which relates to the other thread and SU01.
    So two wrongs don't make a right, even although the exits are in the same package
    > Sounds like someone is actually striving for a SSO solution.
    That is why I also wanted to know what good could come of this. I have seen something similar once before "in the wild" and it was to ensure that the password was sent for the correct user ID name - incase they happened to have been the same for a different user. They also called it SSO...

  • Host user credential fails in 10g OEM

    Using Windows Server 2003 and Oracle 10g:
    I have a client who is unable to set the host user credentials in OEM (fails when testing credentials with “Connection to host as user failed”) using a local administrative account (also the account used to install Oracle). We have been through the forums and made sure that:
    1. The local user is both an administrator and a member of the ora_dba group.
    2. Both the ora_dba user group and local administrative user have been explicitly granted the following privileges:
    a. log on as a batch job
    b. log on as a service
    c. act as part of the operating system
    d. allow log on locally
    e. adjust memory quotas for a process
    f. replace a process level token
    3. We have also verified that this user and group have not explicitly been denied the log on privileges in:
    a. deny log on as a batch job
    b. deny log on as a service
    4. Additionally, we have also tried setting the console service to run as the local user we want to set as the host user credentials (originally set to run as the local system account).
    I have been unable to verify yet that the user or the admin or ora_dba groups have been granted privileges under the create global object policy, but I have only found one post in the forums suggesting this and am unclear if this is a requirement or not.
    I have also seen it recommended to input the host user name as <domain_name>.<name_of_computer>\<user_name>. However, I saw one post that recommended this only if the server was also running AD. I have never installed on the same server as AD and I normally only need to define my host credentials as <domain>\<user>, so I am assuming that this is the case. I'm I correct here?
    I have never had a problem setting these credentials on Windows Server 2008 with Oracle at 11g using the common suggestions listed above, on the forums, and in the installation guide. Any ideas where I can look next or what I have missed? Are there any other policies that might be being pushed to this server that I should look for? Thanks.

    AilD, Thanks. That's pretty much where we started other than our user was a local user rather than a domain user. From what I understand, the formatting of the user name really shouldn't matter, unless you have a domain user you wish to use that happens to have the same name as a local user, where Oracle will assume that you are referencing the local user if you fail to include the domain. No big deal for us since we are using a local user, there shouldn't be any issues with using just the user name to identify the user. Perhaps I am focusing too much on the way the user is identified in OEM.
    Does anyone have experience configuring Oracle in abnormally secure environments? In this case, the onsite DBA is segregated from IT and unsure of what policies are being pushed to his servers. Perhaps there are other polices I haven't already listed that may be causing havoc in setting the host user credentials?

    What version of Muse are you using? If it's not 2014.2, please go to the Creative Cloud Desktop App or creative.adobe.com and update.
    The FTP login failure is most likely due to your host not supporting FTP Extended Passive Mode. In Muse 2014.2 switch to "Passive (PASV)" in the Connect to FTP Server dialog.
    Regarding performance, how large is your site (in pages and megabytes)? How many Design view tabs are open? What specific operations are slow?
    If you'd like to send your .muse file, I'll take a look and attempt to isolate the cause of slow performance. Please send me the .muse file at [email protected] along with a link to this thread. If the file is larger than 20Mb you can use a service like Adobe SendNow, Dropbox, WeTransfer, etc. Thanks.

    I am not able to use the ftp export in Muse. When I enter my host, name and password, I get a long interlude of rainbow wheel and finally the message that my ftp host cannot be found. I have verified the name and that it is port 21. I can export to html and use another ftp client to upload (to the same server) but this is tedious and making minor changes is painful. Have you encountered this and found a solution?

    Hi Susan,
    In that case I will recommend that you consult a local technician/IT team and see if there is some network connectivity issue with your machine.

  • Anonymous FTP User created by the system lacks the user name

    I'm experiencing some problems and inconsistencies in the Mac OS X Server 10.4.7 FTP service.
    First I'll report this behaviour to evaluate if it's worth a bug report.
    I read in the that the user with user name 'Anonymous FTP User" and short name 'ftp' is created by the system the first time the FTP server is accessed using an anonymous user.
    I noticed that the user is indeed created but its user name field is empty. It doesn't have the associated LDAP record, too.
    If I try to manually create a user with an empty user name field WGM errors, so could this be considered a bug?

  • How to get the current user name in Provider hosted app using appOnlyAccessToken

    Hi,
    Please help me, how to get the HostWeb UserName in Provider Hosted App
    i have Provider hosted App, and Anonymous Authentication is enabled on AppWeb, using appOnlyAccessToken
    Below code does not return current user who Log in in hostweb, it is returning
    SharePoint App (app@sharepoint)
    Web web = clientContext.Web;
    clientContext.Load(web);
    clientContext.ExecuteQuery();
    clientContext.Load(web.CurrentUser);
    clientContext.ExecuteQuery();
    clientContext.Web.CurrentUser.LoginName;
    Below code gives a blank name when Anonymous Authentication is enabled, if Anonymous Authentication is disabled
    app prompts for credentials
    HttpContext.Current.User.Identity.Name
    Thanks
    Ram

    Hi,
    Since you are using a provider Hosted app if you want to get the current logged in name than do not use AppOnlyAccessToken else use AccessToken which is App + user Context AccessToken.
    then
    Web web = clientContext.Web;
    clientContext.Load(web);
    clientContext.ExecuteQuery();
    clientContext.Load(web.CurrentUser);
    clientContext.ExecuteQuery();
    clientContext.Web.CurrentUser.LoginName;will return proper user Name.
    HttpContext.Current.User.Identity.Name will never return the user as this object is related to IIS server of your App Server not sharepoint.you should set this as Anonymous in case of provider hosted app.you can download the below sample which uses the AccessToken which has user name in it.https://code.msdn.microsoft.com/Working-provider-hosted-8fdf2d95

  • HT201320 what is the incoming mail server host name and user names

    Hi there,
    I am trying to add my school email account to my phone and I am able to fill in the
    Name
    Email
    and Description
    but am not sure what I am supposed to fill out in the Incoming Mail Server spots:
    Host Name
    User Name
    and the password is already filled in?
    and Im not sure what the Outgoing Mail Server is either.

    You'll have to ask someone at your school what the incoming server settings are for their email.  These differ for every email provider/account.

    I can primarily speak for the Mac myself, although I do use the Windows versions at work on occassion, but this problem is usually due to either insufficient permissions (what user level are the users that are having trouble) or corrupted cache files.  Try this KB article to re-create a user preferences folder for Windows:

  • I am receiving the 'Could not sign you in [Access denied: 530]. Check your user name and password' problem on Adobe Muse CC 2014 and I cannot access the xml file that is supposed to fix this issue?

    I am a PC user and I have Adobe Creative Cloud Muse 2014. I have received the 'Could not sign you in [Access denied: 530]. Check your user name and password' error when trying to upload my muse site to my ftp host, GoDaddy. I have successfully done this in the past and only recently it has stopped working. I looked online at the FAQ Adobe Muse Help | Uploading an Adobe Muse Site to a third-party hosting service and it said to download the ftpprefs.xml file but this file simply leads to a blank page that says /*Not found*//*Not found*/.
    Can someone direct me to a working page with this file or provide a different solution? Thank you!

    Hello,
    As you are getting error [Access denied: 530] it means issue is with access. Either the username and password you are entering is incorrect or you do not have proper permissions.
    I would suggest you to contact Godaddy to either reset password or reset the permissions.

  • Unable to 'Upload to FTP Host' in Muse 2014

    Hi there,
    I have recently installed the new Muse 2014 release. I have gone to update a site and publish via the FTP. The 'Upload to FTP Host' button has changed with the upgrade and only requires Server & User names and the password, I entered this and received a Access Denied : 530 error (fig 1). I contacted the web host and my details haven't changed. I jumped into Muse 7.0 made an update to the site and published via the FTP route as per usual and it uploaded fine (fig 2).
    Has something changed that I have missed? any help would be appreciated.
    Fig. 1
    Fig. 2

    Please download the file http://muse.adobe.com/assets/ftp2014fix.zip, unzip it, and save the contained file ftpPrefs.xml to the following location:
    On Windows: %appdata%\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Muse CC\2014.0 (You can type this in the Path bar at the top of the Windows Explorer window)
    On Mac: ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Adobe Muse CC/2014.0 (You can type this in the Go To Folder dialog using Shift+Command+G)
    Muse uses FTP Extended Passive Mode (EPSV). It's the preferred mode for optimal performance, but we're finding some hosting providers have FTP servers configured such that EPSV is not supported or EPSV only works if you're inside the same firewall as the FTP server. The ftpPrefs.xml file above, turns off EPSV mode. So if that is the problem in this case, putting that file in place should enable you to successfully login and upload without errors.
