FTP option gone from destination

I have just purchased a new iMac 27" and have installed my favorite FCP and Compressor. I have been using these products for about five years and can't live without them. However, the new version of compressor does not have an FTP (or remote) option under the destination dropdown. Clicking the plus button will launch the FIND window.
Is this a bug?

Yeah u might want to use a more flexible compressor to do this
That is to to consider to "add job action" to your batch and to simply invoke an Automator workflow than u can do what u like
You can access in the tab of the inspector in the compressor job.
We always use ssh/scp/scp NOT FTP to do any movement of objects and have one or 2 of these to move to and from the transcode cluster.
Having said that , your Automator workflow can simply call an AppleScript who in teen at manipulate a scriptable application to meet your specific needs or directly invoke a SHELL. Unix command or other such as a python script or cli command or even use a set of Automator folder actions to take care of the stuff u need
It's not complex and is very flexible for any bespoke or customised workflow

If you have it turned on it is now under the music section on the top where you have Songs, Albums etc. It is on the far right next to Match.
If you cannot see it then Preferences and Tick Radio Option
If it is still npt there the Preferences, Parental and untick Disable Radio

Sync Notes option GONE from iTunes after ML Update?!?

I upgraded to Mountian Lion
Now in iTunes, under the 'Info' tab for my iPhone, I can no longer see the 'Sync Notes on this iPhone with Notes on this Computer' option.
The checkbox & heading has COMPLETELY gone.
I'm assuming this has something to do with ML now having a native Notes.app but this is of no use to me.
The bulk of my notes on my iPhone were created before iCloud existed. And so they belong to the account 'On my Phone'. So even when turning on iCloud syncing for notes on the iPhone, these old notes do not transition to iCloud (A well known flaw amoungst many users I've seen on here).
Does anyone know how else to Sync notes from an iPhone to a Mac running ML?
Once on the Mac, I can simply turn on iCloud syncing for Notes on the Mac, then drag & drop the Notes from 'On my Mac' to 'iCloud'.
So has anyone else noticed the Sync notes option dissapear from iTunes after upgrading to ML?

I did what you just said (drag & drop) and ALL of my notes dissapeared off ALL of my devices AND iCloud!!!. Fortunately I had backed up my iPhone 4 iOS 6 and still have all my notes in the iTunes backup file. I restored that file (including my notes) and as soon as phone restarted, it re-synced with the empty iCloud Notes and notes disappeared again from my phone. This is absolutely REDICULOUS!!! And I'm still using Lion with latest iTunes update so I still have Sync Notes option in iTunes, BUT IT DOES NOT WORK!!! Somebody at Apple has been drinking WAY too much.

Airtunes option gone from iTunes - help

have used airtunes for years, no problems whatsoever. all of a sudden the drop down option for remote speakers in itunes has gone and i cant get it back...
- airport has always been set up to join an existing network
- i reset the airport using a paperclip, then used the setup assistant to redo the settings
- when i tell it to join existing network and update i can no longer see it in the airport admin utility
- the lights on the express suggest it has joined the existing network, i.e. if i tun my access point router off then the light on the express flashes amber
things that recently changed
- updated to itunes 7.6
anyone have any suggestions

Same problem but waaaaaay more frustrating
Remote speakers (AirTunes) are missing from iTunes after every reboot now.
I have tried almost everything I can think of.
1) The speakers sometimes reappear during repair permissions.
2) I changed the Dlink DI-624 router channel to 1, the speakers reappeared, but gone again after reboot.
3) I turned off "look for remote speakers" in iTunes advanced preferences
and quit iTunes, and turned them back on again and restarted itunes again and the speakers were there, but gone again after reboot.
etc, etc.
It seems that these solutions don't work again when I try them the next time.
The green light is always on the Airport express,
If the issue was range or dropouts, then I am assuming that it would not stay green
The airport express cannot be freezing up either because without resetting it, it does sometimes come back with a ton of fiddling.
If i unplug it and plug it back in the router logs say that it successfully authenticates to the network (WPA) and gets an IP lease. so it seems to be fine from that end of things
I blame leopard 10.5.2 and itunes 7.6 right now

Cookies options gone from Safari Preferences Security

I have been having weird glitches with Safari for the past few days. I cleared the cache (several times) and went to dump cookies - and all of the cookies-related options seem to be missing. In Safari>Preferences>Security, the middle section of the box that includes options for accepting cookies and to view cookies is not there anymore. In Safari>Reset Safari, the button for Remove Cookies is gone, though the rest of the list appears to be there.
I clean out cookies semi-regularly, and the options were all there over the weekend.
Any thoughts?

We are on Safari 5.1 here, the cookies are in the Privacy pane.
Overwrite/install Safari here, then apply Software Update under the Apple menu to make sure

If you need more cookie and privacy control, you just have to go with Firefox + Adblock Plus, Ghostery, BetterPrivacy, Click&Clean and even NoScript (drag a temporarily allow all button to the toolbar)

COMPILATIONS OPTION GONE FROM IPOD CLASSIC

Hey everyone, I've seen most of your posts and I would like to add myself to that list of people extremely frustrated that this option has been taken off the new iPod classic.
I just bought a 160GB iPod classic, and own 233 compilation albums, so you guys have a clear idea of how annoying this is.
I have already sent my concerns to the feedback option as many of you have so hopefully we can get this back soon.

There's a few posts on here about this. Very very irritating. Especially when you've spent years building a music collection and tagging immaculately only to find the only way round it is to re-tag compilation albums so the artist entry is the same for every track (i.e Various Artists).
Turning Compilations 'on' doesn't remove compilations artist entrys from the main artist menu, it simply adds compilations to the music menu.
You'll also notice multiple cover art entrys for a compilation album... i.e 18 track compilation = 18 cover art entrys. Genuis.
Why on earth dont they get someone to test these things properly before release?

Screen Share option gone from machines in the sidebar 10.5.7

Regretting installing it now. I use this several times a day. Now I don't get the button to allow me to start a screen share. It was there earlier before I upgraded to 10.5.7. Also all my Mac PCs appear as generic Windoze PCs in the sidebar (hence no Screen Share option). I can still connect to the remote machines by using the Screen Sharing app.
Any thought how I get this back?

I just fired up my 10.5.7 box and did screen sharing both ways to this old 10.5.6 box. No problem.
Sometimes a reboot is all that is necessary.
BTW, stupid screensharing trick #42:
Set up screen sharing on two machines.
From one machine, access the other screen.
Still at the first computer, in the Finder in the second computer, click the computer you are at and click screen sharing. After entering Userid and pasword, get set for a psychedelic ride. The old barber shop thing. Like pointing a camera at the screen.

Finger print Option Gone From Simplepass

I just replaced the hard drive on my laptop. After reinstallng the operating system (Windows 8) the finger print scanner was working fine. It was also working fine before my hard drive crashed. After upgrading to Windows 8.1 on the new hard drive, Simplepass no longer offers the finger print option. It only allows me to set a pin for it. On the old hard drive, I had also upgraded to Windows 8.1 and the finger print scanner was working fine then too. So not sure why it is no longer working.Thanks

Try reinstalling your printer drivers and restart your Mac.
You might also try deleting your printer preference file.
Go to ~/Library/Preferences. You should have a file like this...
com.yourprintermanufacturename.plist
Move that file to the Trash and restart your Mac.
Also, try disconnecting and reconnecting your printer from your Mac.

I was having trouble trying to connect my guitar to the mac pro and i had to mess with the sound and the system preferences.
The Built-in microphone option on system preferences is gone. How do i get it back?

FF4 Manage option gone from Bookmarks menu?,cannot export bookmarks?

I need to export my bookmarks. Help says to use the "Manage"
option on the Bookmarks drop down. I'm using FF4. That option is not on the Bookmarks drop down. I could not find a way to either export or manage Bookmarks. Where have these functions gone?

There is a Right Click on Mac. Most all Apple mice, and every other brand of mice, have a right mouse button, even the Apple Magic mouse that has no buttons. If for some reason you are using a One Button mouse then you hold down the Command key (or the Option/Alt) and that give you a right click.
If you are using the Track Pad on a Mac notebook same applies with the key hold down and in the Preferences you can assign a Right Click to the lower right hand side of the Track Pad.

Where has the bookmark sort option gone from the right mouse click in the bookmark panel?

I used to be able to right click on the bookmark toolbar and sort the bookmarks in alphabetic order, this seems to be missing from the right click menu in versions 3.xx

Click on Bookmarks. Top of list click show all bookmarks which takes you to the library. Left side under All bookmarks, right Click on Bookmark Menu which will show as black print (not grey) and click sort by name. Will sort in alpha order.

Landscape option gone from iPhoto/Epson.

I'm using iPhoto 9.5.1 and my landscape option for printing is not available. What happened to it? I'm using an Epson Artisan 730. All software up to date.

First Try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete the contents the following folder:
User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: For Mavericks, 10.9, go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
where you can check the Show Library Folder checkbox.
If that doesn't help continue with the following: as a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?

Translucent menu bar option gone from Preferences?

Finally upgraded to Leopard. Much to love so far. Was curious about the translucent menu bar so I went to Desktop preferences to check (uncheck?) that option but it wasn't there. Am I missing something? I thought this was an option in 10.5.2.

Yeah, I took a look at it for a couple of minutes before I decided that anything other than a solid color background caused more distraction and made it harder for these eyes to see the text in the menu's. The busier the background, the worse it is for me. I went looking for hacks but they didn't work well with dual monitors, so I waited before installing Leopard to my other machines. Vista's tranparency is even worse and a real pain to turn off (and it uses over 30mb of ram), unless they fixed it with SP1 recently (waited over a year for SP1).
Apple fixed the problem for me with the option to turn it off in just 4 months
The family pack got used as soon as 10.5.2 came out.

Nested Login option gone from Applications - System Tools

Is it just me or did a recent update (last 48 hours or so) remove the GNOME shortcut for "New Login in a Nested Window"?
I was just using it the other day to test some GDM themes and today it's gone.
Can someone suggest a way to test a SLiM theme under GNOME without logging out?

Thanks hacosta, any idea what the exact command string is for that shortcut? Whenever I run Xnest I receive a fatal server error:

If this server is no longer running, remove /tmp/.X0-lock and start again.
Removing said file has no affect.
Regarding the theme, yes the lake one is nice, however I'm designing my own and would like to know the best way to test it without logging out/in all the time.
