FTP Publishing currently failing

Some months back I created a website for a friend who wanted a new site for his business. His site was already with Mr. Site who supported FTP publishing, so I created his new site and transferred it to his new one, effectively replacing it. Great! Worked like a dream! By all means take a look!
http://www.nickmarshallmake-up.com
About two weeks ago I attempted to update the new site and the update has failed. When publishing the site, iWeb "Prepares the Files for Publishing" and always crashes on the last page (no matter what the last page is, as I rearranged them to test it out). iWeb didn't even get to the stage where it uploaded anything to the website. I looked at the website online and noticed that there are now some media crashes present (music shortened and artwork is suddenly missing and cropped) and I'm enraged that I cannot actually effect any changes.
I can publish the site to a local folder with no problem whatsoever, but iWeb ALWAYS crashes when preparing files for publishing via the FTP protocols!
Help please?

This doesn't help you but I am experiencing exactly the same issue, using FTP publishing.

  • 2 Things: Safari Bookmarking + FTP Publishing

Sounds like a stupid question but does anyone know how to
bookmark a specific topic using safari when using a Flash skin??
I'm 85% sure this cannot be done.
Also, is anyone else experience slow ftp publishing times?
I'm publishing to a win2003 via ftp and it take 2 minutes to
publish. Is there some way to tweek server 2003 to speed this up?
Any alternative ftp solutions? I'll have to revert to publishing
via a shared network if I don't get this solved.
    I'm using rh6.

    1. It wont allow me to upload the movie clip that i
have made - in .mov format.
It says that the name is not allowed - so i have
tried renaming it to all sorts of things and nothing
works - it says forbidden. Does anyone have any idea
    what this means?
Many servers do not accept names with spaces in them, and some might require lower-case letters and no special characters.
    2. I have made 2 pages that should have RSS feeds.
There are XML pages uploaded to the server, but when
you try to subscribe on the site it says that it kind
find any RSS information on the server.
You broke the site structure created by iWeb by failing to upload the folder with the same name as your site has inside iWeb, namely the folder called Northstars. Instead you uploaded the contents of this folder. Always upload that folder plus the index.html file published alongside it.

  • FTP publishing on iWeb to replace existing site - files not appearing.

On iWeb, I used FTP publishing to replace my existing site files, then deleted the original files but not only has the new site files not appeared in my public html folder but I get the message:The requested URL /www.geofflevitus.com was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Founderror was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

but I get the message:The requested URL /www.geofflevitus.com was not found on this server.
That's an indication that the index.html file that is created alongside the site folder by iWeb is missing.
Try publishing your site to a folder on your hard driive and use a 3rd part ftp client like the free  Cyberduck to upload the site folder and the index.html file.
Cyberduck or Transmit will let you view your server folder in a Finder like window where you can see which files are missing.

  • Pleased with upgrade even just for single site FTP publishing

I liked iWeb 08 a lot, but found the publishing of EVERYTHING really cumbersome. So I decided to take a chance and upgrade to iWeb 09 and it seems perfect for the sorts of things I am doing now. I love the fact that I can select one site and then have it FTP publish to just the directory I want at my hostgator ISP (I don't use Mobile Me).
It seems to work just fine, and is a great time saver of the way publishing was done in iWeb 08. Just this feature was worth the upgrade to me.
    doug

I'm thinking about this as well. My work-around for iWeb'08 was to create a copy of my original .sites2 file with all the sites, rename the file to xxx.sites2, open it and delete all but 1 site in iWeb. Repeat with all the sites, and then you have a bunch of files each with only 1 site. Create an alias for each file and you have more or less the same thing.

  • FTP publishing settings Website URL

This may be a very obvious answer, but in the FTP publishing setting>Website URL field, what are the correct settings. For my "domainname.com", I'm putting the address in that field as "http://www.domainname.com" (no quotes) Is that the correct address to use. iWeb Help Menu says to put your website address in that field. So I assume that you include the "http://www." Is that correct?

    Alancito,
I keep forgetting about the video tutorials. They're awesome. Yes that did answer my question. The whole FTP thing seems temperamental and buggy, but I'm sure most of it is me. In iWeb, sometimes it publishes via FTP, no problems and other times I get server error messages. Using Rage Sitemap Automator, half the time it won't connect and if I upload the sitemap via Cyberduck, using the same FTP settings, no problem. But those are all separate issues and you answered my initial question. Thanks

So...if my Note 3 was bought sim free and unlocked would I expect to get Lollipop sooner?
(I really am unsure of how this works)
It's likely that would be correct - typically speaking, open market handsets can get updates sooner than network supplied ones, though there are occasions where our network update can be out before the open market ones. As you can see sometimes the 'logistics' of software updates can be a little topsy-turvy.
Just to clarify though, it doesn't look like Samsung have started pushing any updates out for the Note 3 in the UK yet - a Google search seems to suggest it may be pushing out in Russia (we have no official details on any rollouts outside UK) which is good news but it can take vendors weeks and into the month(s) before their rollouts spread across all markets. It's not unusual for vendors to launch updates into a small number of markets to test the waters several days/weeks before they consider a full rollout - this gives them an opportunity for real-world customer usage to see if there's any major issues with it.
Another thing to consider are bugs - while an extreme example, take the Note II for instance - the open market update had a rather large Bluetooth bug that caused many issues for people who used Bluetooth devices. The update that we got Samsung to push out for us included a fix for this bug.
Long story short: While I understand the need/desire for many to get the update ASAP/immediately, it doesn't always pay off. Bugs do happen and sometimes they're found soon enough in open market updates that we can get them patched for our own update. So there are of course merits to both :-)

  • FTP Publish Service for LR 3

What really amazes me is the lack of an FTP Publish service alongside 'Hard Drive' and 'Flickr'. It seems so logical… am I missing something?

Been messing around trying to figure out how to using publishing services with FTP and finally got it, and it is Free and works greet.
What I did is used the free Macfusion for the Mac to mount my FTP server from GoDaddy like a HardDrive and then in LightRoom am now able to add publishing service to the new mounted FTP (HardDrive).  Just go in and select HardDrive and select specific folder and away you go.
I found this actually works better than the FTP publisher add-in that is out there.  One problem with the FTP publisher is that if I tried to make a change to an original picture, it would not allow me to republish it, I do not have this problem with my method, everything seems to work great.
Let me know if anyone else gets this working and what you think.

  • Publish request fails for our new issue.

Publish request fails for our new issue. Is it the service or subscription problem? How do I find out?
    Thanks.

    It was neither.
Rebuilding the folio and uploading it again has solved my problem.

  • FTP publish service

A ftp pulbish service would be so cool! I know some plugins can do the trick but I'd like to have the feature without plugins. Publishing pictures directly to my website is more useful

The only FTP Publish service I'm aware of is the plugin by Tim Armes. There was an FTP Export (not publish) service included in the SDK in LR2 but I can't recall if it is still in LR3's SDK. Publish Services are hard to maintain over the lifecycle of a product release (e.g. Facebook seems to change their API every other week) so I suspect there is a preference to publish the SDK and leave Publish Service development to others with shorter/lighter product update cycles.

  • FTP Publishing

I have a site that I built using a PC application that has a ton of reference files in .pdf on it already. I want to use iWeb to maintain the site as part of my divorce from Mr. Gates. I do not want to have to reload the referenced files. If I publish a new front end with iWeb FTP will the entire web site be wiped clean, just the iWeb pages added, or what? Help

Not just replace all that is currently on the site with what is in iWeb.
All the ftp clients that I am aware of do not touch files already present on a server, unless the ones they are uploading have the same name as those already present, in which case they erase the latter. So if you are careful about naming things, you should not have a problem.

The solution is either change the order of deployment or copy the FileAdapter.rar file in $ORACLE_HOME/lib location and restart the server as mentioned here.

  • Publish error: failed to create chr_book_op.gif

I'm using RH10 as part of TCS4. Multiple projects that are routinely updatedfor the past 10 years suddenly (since the last update) now all fail during the Publish operation with an unhelpful error "Failed to create chr_book_op.gif." The projects generate without error so this is not a problem within TCS4. Since the error occurs in multiple projects, I assume it is a connectivity issue. To test, I verified that  I can manually (using Filezilla) FTP all files to the target Web site so I know the FTP settings are valid. I have verified that the Filezilla FTP settings are the same settings as defined in the project's Publish settings. The only thing that changed since the last update is that I swapped out a broadband modem. Everything works correctly with the new modem, and I assume that since I can successfully manually FTP, the modem is not the source of the problem.
Has anyone seen this error before? I'm at a loss as to how to further troubleshoot.  It would be a nuisance if I cannot use RH's Publish functionality.

    Hello Anjaneai,
I created a test project (as WebHelp). It generated correctly but again failed during Publish at the same file (chr_con_out.gif) that causes all of my other projects to fail. The .gif file is present in all of my projects and is part of the standard Chrisi skin. Here is a screenshot of the error:
I generated the same test project as FlashHelp. It generated correctly but failed during Publish. I don't use FlashHelp, so I don't know how to interpret the error. Here is a screenshot of the error:
There were no errors to indicate a problem with the FTP connection.
    Thank you for your help.

  • FTP upload issues (failing to upload files 64k)

When I first got my Mac I used to be able to FTP large files to one of the several servers I use. This is now failing with 'Broken Pipe' errors, always at 64K of upload.
I have tried using both Cyberduck and YummyFTP but I get the same result on each. Could I have made a change to my OSX config to cause this problem?
    Thanks in advance.

Here's some more information. The UK FTP server which Cyberduck etc work fine with has problems on the Terminal. Here's the Terminal output:

    Hi,
Try to enable this on your BI Publisher 11.1.1.6
    Open Microsoft Word
On the BI Publisher menu / tab, select the Options menu item
Click on the tab named 'Build'
Set the value for Form field size to Backward Compatible
    it might work this way.
or uninstall your 11.1.1.6 version and install BI Publisher Desktop 10.1.3.4.2 for EBS 12.2
    What's your EBS version?
