I am trying to find a way to upload files using Dreamweaver
MX 2004 FTP utility. Comcast doesn't know what to put into the
appropriate boxes in Dreamweaver FTP. Thank you in advance for any

Thanks Bob K.
Is comcast hosting your web site? If so, then they and only
they can give
you this information.
If they aren't hosting your web site, then they have nothing
to do with it
and you need to contact whoever is hosting your web site.

Help w/FTP and manage site
I am trying to get to my Comcast personal web site and I am
trying to use Dreamweaver to create the site. When I login to the
site on IE/FireFox useing the FTP address ftp://upload.comcast.net/
I get in OK but in DW 8.0 I go to manage site and enter in all of
the same info I use in IE/Fire Fox or even Front Page and I get
that DW can not connect and the following Error:
AN FTP Error occured. Cannot make a connection to host. The
remote host cannot be found. If I try it on another commercial site
I maintain and I get the same results. Is there a way to check my
DW 8 to confirm it is working correctly? Please go to SITES | Manage Sites..., select the site name,
and click on
Edit. Click on the Advanced tab at the top. Tell me the
following -
Under LOCAL INFO
The contents of "Local root folder:"
Under REMOTE INFO
What happens when you press Test?
The contents of "Host directory:"
Thanks!

Updated DW CS6 and now I can't FTP to any site
Good morning,
I have been using DW CS6 for a long time without problems accessing multiple sites with FTP. I just downloaded the latest DW CS6 update version 12.0 build 5861 and the update appeared to go OK. Now I find I'm unable to FTP to multiple sites, it fails with an error message "An FTP error occurred - cannot make connection to host". I contacted one of the hosts and their tech support said my params were correct and they were able to access my site using filezilla.
I tried deleting my cache - no luck and also my configuration folder - same failure message. This happens on multiple sites with multiple hosts so I think the problem is with DW. Could anyone suggest how I can fix this?
Thanks,
TonyThanks Ben,
Nice to hear from you again.
I reviewed the suggestions and have tried them all - I didn't delete the site from Site Manager but tried creating a new site with a different name and nothing worked. I also tried downloading filezilla and connecting using that and had a similar message
Status: Connection attempt failed with "EACCES - Permission denied". So, two different programs can't connect to the site with FTP. DW also can't connect to several other sites hosted by two different firms.
The site is hosted by GoDaddy so I went to the GoDaddy Control Panel and tried uploading a couple of files using their file manager and that worked. So it seems like the site is OK - GoDaddy tech support said they could connect using filezilla. Looks like the problem is in my PC somewhere as two programs can't connect using FTP. I have no idea where to look next. All I can think of is to uninstall DW then re-install from the original CD and not update it - ever as I'm pretty sure the update caused these problems. Do you have any other thoughts?
If you'd like to try I can PM you the ftp info. -
After upgrading to the Quantum router, I can not FTP to my site using a script that has been working fine for over 10yr. Here's what happens:
ftp> open {edited for privacy}
connected to {edited for privacy}
Connection refused by remote host
ftp>
I've tried with Filzilla and a Mac terminal. Normally, the remote host asks for a username and then for the PW. For some reason, the connection is refused. I've been on the phone to my hosting company for 2wk tomorrow with no success.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be wrong. Upgrading to the Quantum router and the issue occurred at about the same time, but I can't be sure one caused the other.
Solved!
Go to Solution.Have you tried adjusting the firewall setting in the router? It may have different settings than your old router.
I was able to connect to that server through my Quantum router. I've got the firewall set to "typical."

Why after uploading to FTP does the site page appear then disappear?
Hello Everybody,
I am an amateur when it comes to Muse but am capable of making minor text and image changes, saving as HTML, then uploading to my FTP server. I have an accordion menu on my main page that I had previously made some changes to by adding content (text and a pic). Last Friday I went in to make similar changes as I had before. After I uploaded through Filezilla, I checked out my changes online and was confused by the result.
Basically the main page as it should look pops up for an instant then disappears. In its place is just one of the boxes from the accordion menu (not all of them); in this case, it is our Twitter feed.
I don't know if I pressed something to make this menu come forward, or mask the rest of the site, but I'm having lots of trouble figuring it out. Obviously the main site has not been deleted, but it is just being hidden somehow.
Any help with this issue would be much appreciated. The website URL is www.prcclothing.com Thank you!The problem is a combination of the twitter widget you're using and Muse's accordion widget.
See this forum thread for a workaround:

DW CS5.5 "Put" cannot ftp but Manage Site Test can
In DW CS 5.5 Build 11.5, clicking on "Put" or "Get" generates the error message "An FTP error occurred - cannot make connection to the host" but at Site>Manage Sites>Server>Test, I get "Adobe DW CS 5.5 connected to your Web server successfully". Is there more than one place in DW to configure FTP? Thank you.
After not working for a week, suddenly today DW works. "Put" and "Get" both connect. The only thing I did in the interim was successfully run Site>Manage Sites>Server>Test several times over several days. I am grateful for whatever fixed the problem, but I cannot explain it. I thank those of you here who read and considered my question.

Hi all
I have a BizSpark account, and have setup a Wordpress site on Azure which works fine.
I need to use ftp to make a new folder (for a MS Office 365 app) but in my dashboard, the FTP Deployment link is not working (not available).
So how do I get a username for the ftp access?I have tried emailing support but they say none available, try forums.
Or is there another way to ftp to Azure?
Thanks
GeoffHi Geoff,
As far as I know, you may use azure website to host your wordpress, if so, please have a look at
this blog, you could find the user name and user password from the Publish Profile, you could also reset the user name and password via click below hyperlink from the azure portal.
Hope this helps, if I misunderstand, please feel free to let me know.
Best Regards,
Jambor

FTP works in site Mgr but won't upload DW8 Mac
Hi,
I've just read through several pages of ftp-related posts and
have not found the exact problem I'm having. Nothing has changed
recently on my Mac, but Dreamweaver will not connect to the host to
upload files. The "test" in the Sites dialog box works fine, but I
am getting an error when I try to upload through any method: save
to remote server, preview in browser, "put"--nothing works and I
get this message:
An FTP error occurred. Cannot make connection the the host.
Your login or password is incorrect. Please check your connection
information.
The FTP log shows:
< 220 Microsoft FTP Service
> USER imfcus
< 331 Password required for imfcus.
> PASS
< 230 User imfcus logged in.
> PWD
< 257 "/IMFCUS" is current directory.

> LIST
< 125 Data connection already open; Transfer starting.
< 226 Transfer complete.
> QUIT
< 221
> CWD /
after two attempts.
Since everything works in the test and also in Fetch, I am
stumped. I have updated to 8.2, but only after the problem began.
I'd appreciate any help.
Thanks!First make sure the passive FTP box is checked in your FTP
settings. If it is and this problem exists, continue below to trash
the preferences file:
What you will need to do is go into your user account, then
into the Library folder and then into the Preferences folder. Do a
quick search (because there are so many files) for dreamweaver and
you should find a .plist file. Delete that.
The next time you start up DW it may take a little longer
than normal because OS X will have to build a new preferences file.
Then try again and see if that solves the problem. -

I accidentally somehow switched my defined local dreamweaver
site into an ftp:// and i dont know how to change it back. i have
dreamweaver 8. I baisically need that icon to switch back from
little computers to a green folder. any suggestions??Honestly, I'm not sure how you changed it in the first place.
I think once
you define it as such, that's how it is.
You can just define a new site, with the same (correct)
settings and delete
the old one.

I am in Muse 2014.3. When I edit a page, in the preview everything looks fine, but when I upload it to FTP, the page does not change, even when I upload the whole site. Is this a bug? I don't know what to do.
Hi Jaap,
Are you sure about your FTP credentials (FTP folder and site URL) that you are using for the upload? Are you able to see the updated files in the remote directory of the FTP server, after you finish uploading the muse file, using an external FTP client like FileZilla?
Thanks

Site Setup FTP dialog box will not let us access to make changes
I have one website on line with the corrected FTP settings that my host earthlink required with its recent changes. But in order to get those FTP changes done, the web hosting rep from earthlink had to take over my computer. I have another website that only gets changed once a year. I made the changes in Dreamweaver & wanted to upload them. I was given a message that I had to update the FTP for this site. Again, when I tried to make changes in the FTP, I couldn't click on anything to make those changes. If the update was already done for one of my websites why didn't it 'trickle down' to encompass my other website?
I have one website on line with the corrected FTP settings that my host earthlink required with its recent changes.
What were the changes required?
in order to get those FTP changes done, the web hosting rep from earthlink had to take over my computer.
Why? What did they do once taking over the computer?
I was given a message that I had to update the FTP for this site.
Where did this message come from, and what exactly did it say? When did you get this message in the process of trying to upload your changed files?
when I tried to make changes in the FTP
What changes did you try to make, and where were you trying to make them?
If the update was already done for one of my websites why didn't it 'trickle down' to encompass my other website?
Are both of these sites using the same site definition? If they are using different site definitions then there would be no interaction among them at the site definition level. -
Dreamweaver Sites - FTP - Testingserver to Remoteserver
I’m working with a little team of web-developers (3 persons).
We use a MacBook as an Apache-Webserver (PHP and MySQL).
Our Client-Developer-Tool is Dreamweaver CS 6 on each of our notebooks.
Now my question about Dreamweaver Sites:
The MacBook is our Testing-Server(local server/network), then we have a Remote-Server (FTP,Live-Server with online-version). And then each of us have a local site on Dreamweaver.
When we use FTP we want to upload from the Testing-Server directly to Live-Server!!!
Uploading from Dreamweaver’s local site doesn’t seem right – as WE are THREE persons with THREE different notebooks that run Dreamweaver with THREE different local Sites.
Do we have to use an FTP-Application like Filezilla or do anyone know if we can use Dreamweaver’s FTP-function in Sites? Are you using File check in / check out to pull files off the remote server to your local site folders?
If you Expand the Files panel, you can transfer files from Local to Testing or Remote site.
